Disclaimer: Nostalgia is a difficult beast to separate from food ratings. This is a hometown favorite, and I eat here at least once every visit home. We started out with the cheese crisp, and it always lives up to its name...greasy, crunchy, and most of all CHEESY!! I ordered the tostada value meal which is two crispy tostadas mounded with all the toppings and includes a drink and beans & rice. The tostada piled high with seasoned ground beef and refried beans. It is always delicious, though not very authentic. My wife ordered an enchilada and a tostada. The tostada was just like mine and delicious, but she was disappointed by the enchilada which was made with flour tortilla and rather flavorless. This is one my favorite joints so it was on the list before there ever was a list...Bravo Rudys, keep it kickin and I'll visit every time I'm back in the area!! read more

This was a first and last time stop for us. The food was disgusting. Everything had to be canned including the beef in the burrito. It looked as if almost all of it was microwaved so that it could cook. The chips are $6 and definitely came out of a bag. Service was pretty poor and the total we were charged was not that amount that the bill brought to us said. Taco Bell blows this place out of the water and that's sad for a sit down restaurant. Not to mention it was pretty dirty and disorganized inside. We were expecting to get food poisoning.... Avoid this disaster!!!! read more

The two times I've eaten here I get the impression the staff just doesn't want you to be there, completely bland, blah customer service. The food itself is, by far, the worst Rudy's in the QCA. Cafeteria lunchroom-style flavor. If you must visit a Rudy's, the Elmore location is infinitely better, better food, better customer service. This place continues to go downhill. Food was ok, but watch your bill The price that was on the menu and what they charged me were two different things. When I asked they they said they were getting new menus. You don't change your prices until you get the new menus. The server did ask if I wanted my money back as if I would say this was ok. Chips were extra too. It was a very expensive meal. Very disappointed! When we ordered our food we asked if the chimichanga came with rice and beans. The chimichanga was lent even crispy like a chimichanga should be fried but it wasn't, and it was wrapped like in a square or weird shape. It didn't even have a shape of a burrito. It looked like half of the burrito was missing! We were told they did. We asked for sour cream and guacamole didn't get it. The food was cold not even warm. The cheese looked like they just throw it on top and didn't even warm it up! I wouldn't suggest going here. The one by Lowes in Bettendorf is so much better. I don't know why the quality in the two are so different but they are. It's like they don't hold the same standards as the other one! read more

Meh. It's adequate. The food is fine. It's not great, but it's not bad. Honestly, I was unimpressed. The service was marginal... we got what we needed, but we really had to work for it, as the waitress was not particularly attentive. She was nice enough, but she just didn't check on anyone for the most part. It's a plain looking place, with plain looking decor, but it's clean overall, and there was enough seating. Place settings consist of one fork each, wrapped in a paper napkin. Not such a big deal, except it is a bit annoying realizing you must cut your burrito or your chimichanga with your fork. How hard would it be to allow for a few extra pieces of silverware that need to be washed and just assume that everyone might benefit from a knife? I would have preferred a knife... it wasn't impossible to cut my food with my fork, but it just would've been easier. No chance of that though... it would have taken me ten minutes to flag down my waitress to ask for one. I made due with what I had. For those of us who finished ahead of the others at our table, our finished dishes were left in front of us, even when we put our trash in our plates, which should have indicated we were done. Again, not that big a deal, but just one more part of the "Meh" service we received. They have wi-fi, but you need the code to use it. We asked for the code, and the waitress apparently forgot. Meh. On the upside, the food is inexpensive. Really, as Mexican food goes, I just don't have any feeling about the place. It's generic enough Mexican food, with a smattering of other stuff on the menu, in case you are not into Mexican food, but you managed to get yourself dragged along by the others in your family. I don't think this place would satisfy a craving, were I to have one, but I also don't see myself avoiding it if I were hungry and it was convenient. Again, just Meh. Edit to add: I have since found out that not all Rudy's are created equal. It is quite possible that this is the worst location in the chain. We went to the Rudy's on Elmore, located across the street from Lowe's and we were pleasantly surprised. If you are inclined to try out Rudy's, do yourself a favor and try a different location from this one on Devil's Glen. read more

Wow. First off, LOVE Rudys tacos. We've new eating there for 20+ years. And the food has ALWAYS been amazing. Customer service has always been great. Except for today. I was laughed at on the phone, and I could hear the woman talking crap about me. And then she treated me like a two year old. After walking in, she looks directly at me and says, "...yikes..." And walks away. I have never felt so disrespected. I'm only giving it one star because the food was amazing as always. But get better employees. It was a older lady with very short brown hair. The food we were served was flavorless however this was kinda covered up by the grease(more than I would expect,considering it was dripping off the food). And the rice and beans were definitely overcooked. Service was seriously lacking and when my husband told the waitress that he didn't like his food she replied, "oh, I'm sorry about that. Would you like to take it home and eat it later?" Did she not hear that he didn't like the food!!! We will not be back. If you want to eat a Rudy's I would suggest going to a different location. They couldn't figure out how to pay with a gift card and the rest on a debit card. My one positive would be that my serving was very generous. So, i suppose it was my fault for getting food here on Taco Tuesday & Cinco de Mayo. I can understand the fact that they were busier than expected. I can also understand the fact that the order took 37 minutes longer than they said it would. However, I can't understand why no one in the kitchen was wearing gloves while handling the food in the kitchen...especially during this pandemic. The staff was even complaining about how busy they were. One woman was walking around saying , "I'm done. I'm done." and plenty more. We ordered food to go around 8pm. We were the only ones in the restaurant. We ordered chips and guacamole to go in addition to our meals. I watched them pour guacamole from a purchased container into a white To-go container. EXTREMELY disappointed. Tacos were supposed to be street tacos and they just had cheese and lettuce. This location was just OK. Went specifically for the Taco Bar, which was plentiful. It offered beef (no chicken ?!?),beans, chili, and all the usual toppings. Hard shell, soft shell, tortilla chips and taco salad bowls were provided. The hot queso tasted like canned cheddar sauce...no spice to it. Thought the price was a little high but I left filled. Worst experience, ever. I really hate to give bad reviews unless it's needed, and I feel it's needed this time. My mom, ten month old daughter and I went here today. I ordered the lunch buffet with eager for $10.49 and my mom got an order of tacos and a soda. I got my TEN MONTH OLD daughter a tortilla, a little meat and some black olives. She didn't touch. Not one bit. She actually threw it on the ground (which I asked the waitress if I could have a broom or something so I could clean it up and she looked at the ground, looked irritated and then said it's fine she'll get it later, I picked up what I could of the food anyway.) So as I said, my daughter didn't eat any of the food. I figured since I got the $10.49 lunch buffet, I'd be okay to give her a little bit, too. I guess not because for that barely ONE little taco, we were charged $5.49!!!! For a kids one taco meal (which apparently includes fries and a drink, which we didn't get because we didn't order this meal. I only gave her some taco from the taco bar since I was getting it anyway). I thought it was safe to assume that anywhere you go, most kids even under 5 eat free, and especially if they're under ONE year! I guess not here!!! The cashier did nothing about it when we brought it up. She just stopped talking to us. My mom called to speak to a manager and he says 'you have to understand that if she threw the taco on the floor, that's money down the drain for me.' I totally get that, but it wasn't even a full taco and I got the taco buffet anyway!! So it shouldn't have mattered. Along with all of that, never was asked for a refill or anything. This is the worst service I've ever had, which sucks because we love Rudys! Not this one anymore! Thank goodness there's more in the QC!!! read more

The woman at the drive thru at 7 pm on 7/26/2014 was tweaking bad...it was painful to watch the entire time I waited for my food. I will not be going back to this location! I can't believe the caliber of employees this location! hires. She also tried to overcharge me until I pointed it out then she beat herself up verbally the whole time she was trying to fix the register. I don't know if I was charged correctly or not. The food is just so so. I only go to the drive through when I am in a hurry. The guy who is usually there could learn a few things about customer service. He never ever says PLEASE or THANK YOU - even when prompted. He CANT make change, doesn't know how to print out a receipt ( he said he had to go up front to get a receipt!). Tonight he took my money and then left the window and started washing dishes. I waited and waited for my order, finally I had to yell to him to see what the holdup was.
