Extremely disappointed with the food size, service and management response during last night's meal. 3 of us ordered the Rudy's Platter and the burrito was very small and about the size of a to male and the enchilada had very sparse lettuce and tomatoes. Service was slow and when I spoke with the manager, her uncaring and unconcerned response was that she would "tell the cook" about the size of the burrito and that they are supposed to weigh them. She did absolutely NOTHING for us. She didn't offer to replace the small burritos, make us another burrito, discount our bill or anything! read more

Use to live here, came home to visit for the first time in 30 years and wanted that nostalgia feeling of the Rudy's tacos that I use to enjoy. My favorite was the shredded beef and cheddar burrito. Had Rudy's for the first time because I've seen 5-6 of them around. Went in, sat down and got a water right away. Orders chips and cheese, and basic tacos. The waitress was phenomenal. Fast, kind, and checked on me several times. Chips and cheese came... they microwave shredded cheese or tortilla chips. That's a sin. Then got my tacos, basic of the basic tacos. Ate one, went to pick up the second and it fell apart. Grabbed the third one, whole bottom fell off. Staff? 100% awesome, food? Go to Taco Bell. read more

Rating is straight up ZERO. Disgusting. Charged over $9 for cheese dip and it's literally the canned "cheese" with spinach and tomatoes added. I ordered tamales and I can honestly say I've never eaten anything drier. Wood shavings would have had more moisture and flavor. The salsa was rancid and the chips are not homemade. Wasn't planning visiting, but Yelp had a BBQ restaurant on it that was permanently closed. As we had young children, running around looking for another restaurant wasn't ideal. Fortunately, I saw reviews ahead of time. So, when I didn't get a strong indication from the waitress that there was anything in particular she recommended, I went with the tamales dinner (as I figured they were not made in house). The rice and refried beans were fine too. My wife said the steak of her fajitas were a little tough. She also asked for corn tortillas (she's GF because she has to be) came out like they could have been turtle egg shells (and used in Jurassic Park -- sound effects in all). Kids enchiladas were good; they liked the stretchy cheese. The kids ground beef taco had no seasoning... none... not even salt!? I didn't realize taco meat could ever be not seasoned. The hot sauce was watery & flavorless. The purchased bottle of verde sauce thankfully was good. We weren't super well dressed, but that wasn't an issue. My boyfriend and I were exploring the Quad Cities and were craving some good Mexican food and decided to checkout Rudy's Tacos. Big mistake. We ordered and it not only took forever to get our food but their food was not good and we both had stomach aches after eating there. My boyfriend ordered a Burrito which had no flavor despite trying to add hot sauce to it- and he commented: "Gas station burritos have more flavor than this". I ordered Chicken Tacos and after a few bites was very unhappy with the chicken inside the tacos as it was flavored with some sort of seasoning that tasted bad. I vomited up my tacos but my boyfriend was able to keep his food down, but all in all, both of us were very unhappy with this dinner, so much that we had to stop by a Hy-Vee Fast and Fresh to try and get something to eat on the way back to our hotel. Also, their appetizer of Chips and Salsa was not complimentary like most Mexican restaurants (which we added guacamole to because we found out it cost so why not). First of all the service is the best around! That's why we pass up the one in Moline on our way to Rudy's in Davenport. And the food is so yummy, and you will never go home hungry because of the portion size. This restaurant is not new, but decorated very nicely and it has a cozy and welcoming feeling to it! I always joke that people here do not know what Mexican food is. It's all awful. I stand corrected. It's all bad. Rudy's is awful. I ordered steak tacos. I'm 90% sure the "steak" was dog food. It did not taste like steak. My husband having served claims it's the grade D meat they serve military and prisoners. It was so sickening I could barely swallow. Food is good, service is always AMAZING because the staff remains the same. Rudy's Tacos in the Village Of East Davenport provides an excellent dining experience! They have a large variety of tasty items to choose from on their menu. I recommend the beef enchiladas! They are my favorite. I also recommend the Rudy's beer made by the Bent River Brewery. It is a great beer that pairs well with everything thing on the menu. This was the absolute most disgusting excuse for a rudys i have ever seen. I ordered 3 deep fried chicken enchiladas but to my surprise when i bit into one, instead my mouth was met by what seemed to be sloppy joes marinated in semen. The steak quesadillas seemed to be almost made out of plastic and covered in freshly picked vegetables that had never seen a grill. But thats not all, the dip that comes with them appeared to be saturated with a watery substance that i can only imagine came from an orifice located in the elderly woman in the back who has a staring problem. Buyer beware. Although I've been to several Rudy's locations over the years, I will not ever be returning after my last experience. Though a fan of ground beef tacos, I've never been a fan of ground beef anything from Rudy's. I couldn't put a finger on why until working at another bar/restaurant 20 years ago on 'taco day'. I had a leftover batch of meat sitting around on 'warm' for several hours, and smelled/tasted before throwing out, because it resembled pet food. Rudy's ground beef is exactly that same experience. So for years I'd order the same chicken enchiladas because the taste wasn't too bad, and they were topped with fresh veggies and loads of melty cheese. I should've known better. It's always been obvious to me that they prep most things in the morning, and heat up the finished product, likely in a microwave before it hits the table. I went to this location because I was working nearby, and knew it was going to be pretty quick because it wasn't busy hours. My order showed up in about five minutes. Nothing tasted sour, but the dish was not evenly hot. I should've stopped there. Within two hours I experienced the worst food poisoning of my life, that lasted about 14 hours. I don't understand how their food handling practices haven't put them out of business years ago. read more

My husband and I ate there for lunch and the fajitas were very small for portion size...think lunch portion but supper price! They were $20 each and did not come with a salad as the other fajitas did. We both had a margarita and the blended one didn't even taste like there was any alcohol in it at all. Finally, when we got our bill it was $55 but then, when the waitress returned with my credit card receipt, the bill was suddenly $65 and when I asked for the receipt, it said $65 but both my husband and I had looked at the receipt and saw the $55. We both figured out the tip based on the first receipt and not the $65 so I'm not sure what happened but we ended up paying $65 for a lunch that was so not worth it. We won't be returning to Rudy's Tacos again. read more

I haven't lived in the Quad-Cities since 2012, but I have the urge to educate those who are new to the area (and Yelp for Mexican Food) or accidently think Rudy's Tacos is a good idea. First of all, let's pretend that this restaurant chain fits the category of "Mexican Food," should I feel sorry for the patrons who have absolutely no idea what "real" Mexican food tastes like? Or should I congratulate the group who owns the Rudy's Taco chain for completely manipulating the Quad Cities area into making a successful restaurant chain that serves the blandest Mexican food I have ever had? The food is boring, banal, and completely lacks any discerning taste. It can only be described as if you were grocery shopping and you had a very limited budget and you were in the mood for Mexican food. The meat, cheese, vegetables, all of these simple ingredients taste like as if someone went to the "poor section of town" grocery store and bought products that were rejected by the main grocery stores and are close to the expiration date. I only conclude to my fellow Yelpers that Rudy's Tacos is clearly the winner for being "The most inauthentic, water-downed sauce and cheapest ingredients thrown together by teenagers and employees who don't give a damn," restaurant. If you ever decide to visit any major city in which I have enjoyed the authentic taste of Mexican food (Houston, Chicago, Phoenix, Los Angeles), you will see a vastly different taste in what most people with a palate would consider Mexican cuisine. read more

A good friend brought us here while we were in the Quad Cities. Being from Denver, we have great access to great Mexican cuisine. Denver is a Mexican food mecca. Rudy's is lacking only in the spice category. This is sadly a regional malady, so I can't fault them for it, too much. The service was great. That may have been because we were with Harry, and Harry seems to know everybody in this town. The prices were fantastic and the kitchen was prompt. I had a combination plate, she had tacos. The tacos were on par with any I have had in nearly any city. Kinda hard to mess up a taco. The combination plate was well prepared, it just lacked heat. Oh, it was plenty warm, fresh from the kitchen and all. But no real spice to any of it. I tried the picante sauce on the the table to perk it up. However, I found the picante to be the mildest stuff I have ever found! it was like V-8 juice which has only had a jalapeno waved over the top of the bottle. I may be barking up the wrong tree. Harry tells me that the stuff I eat would scare these folks. But damn, where's the pain?! A little spicy kick would earn them another star. read more

Probably the best restaurant I've ever been too mostly because of the workers that are there. I had an interaction with one of the employees who made a big impact on the way I view restaurant workers. He was a very hard worker. He was a bus boy at the time but he said that he also takes his part in the cooking of the food (and the food was absolutely delicious). I complemented his work and I remember him very well mostly because we have the same name. Overall the service was great. A lot of big smiles and warm greeting. Food came out quick and I was surprised. Tasted very fresh and I enjoyed it very much. The outside eating is a great touch and it overlooks the village as well as a ball park where you can catch a game if you come at the right time. Upstairs seating is also very cool.
