My family and I had to move in short notice due to flooding in our home. Repair to exceed 30 days. Had to find movers quickly so my wife checked Yelp. I was kind of skeptical because we had such horrible service before from a different moving company. Will and Angel with Ruff and Ready movers were AWESOME!!!! They moved our things without any issues. They were courteous, professional, quick, and the positive list goes on! Once we got moved in, they asked if there was anything else they could do for us. I can't thank them enough for their help. I highly recommend this company. Rates were awesome! $60/hr plus $150 for the truck. That's it! No hidden costs. Hired Ruff & Ready for a move from Murrieta to Laguna Niguel. Approx. 2 bedroom apartment worth of furniture and boxes. The crew arrived on time and proceeded to keep a rapid pace loading the truck. I was happy I had some Monsters and Gatorade on hand for them to enjoy as their demeanor and professionalism was appreciated. In a blink they had blankets and stretch film wrapped around everything and away they went. They drove safely over Ortega Highway and once we arrive at the destination they utilized the elevator efficiently to offload to my place on the 6th floor. They communicated often when they had questions and offered assistance whenever appropriate as we began unpacking. What started out as Moving Day from HELL, due to our long distance moving company that we contracted with 6 weeks in advance.....BAILED on us on the day of our scheduled move. Since my husband was due to start his new employment in one week...this fiasco forced us to do some serious scrambling to find a reliable company to work with us on short notice. Paul Ruff (Co. owner) came to our home within 2 hours of my frantic phone call. He walked the house, counted packed boxes, furniture etc. He then returned an estimate to us with In 2-3 hours and made arrangements to have three of his guys at my house THE FOLLOWING morning to wrap and load moving truck. This is the most dishonest company I have ever dealt with.. We originally paid $1500 to move our stuff to their storage unit and they were supposed to move it back in after a month. The movers caused hundreds of dollars of damage to our home and our belongings. We called the office immediately while the guys were still at our home and informed them of the damaged items. They said they couldn't do anything unless we paid in full. There was chunks out of our drywall by our front door, scratches in our new flooring, my dishwasher and oven were both dented, the blankets our items were wrapped in had holes in them which caused scratching on most of my large furniture, and they even broke a bed post (see pictures). John Ruff got on the phone and said if we dont pay the remaining $600 he's taking us to court. My husband went to court and brought all the pictures of the damage and John pointed out that they conveniently mark EVERY item on the inventory list as damaged with a code (scratches, dents) before they take it. So therefore he isn't responsible for ANY damage that happens during the move, but it has our signature so there is nothing we can do. I would never recommend this company to anyone! He always brags about having an A+ BBB rating, go take a look at the complaints he has on there. We went this company (even though they are priced higher than most of the companies in the area) because we thought we would get what we paid for, we were wrong! read more

My wife and I hired John and his team from Ruff & Ready Moving to move from our apartment into our house. It was rather short notice, but John was very courteous on the phone and provided us with an estimate and what to expect (2 guys, not their biggest truck, approx 8 hours for a 2 bedroom apartment with a garage full of stuff) as well as advising us to box up pretty much everything, especially the little clutter, as that would take up most of the time. Done, you're hired! The next day John's guys showed up on time. Really nice guys, and they started immediately getting the stuff we had already boxed. Soon it became clear that two guys are not enough, so John sent a third guy, and all of them started hauling away, also disassembling furniture. It took them pretty much the entire day to get everything from the apartment (on the second floor) onto their truck and to our house's garage, respectively into the right rooms and setting up the furniture there. They gave me an estimate, were available for the time I requested with no problem and with only a week notice... they were there on time that day... took Good care of all my stuff and with a great attitude... both guys were very friendly and informed me of all the details. Absolutely terrible! We were told all our furniture would be safely moved from our old house to our brand new house. After them arriving late to the job and were late on moving furniture so they could earn overtime, they damaged our furniture and our new walls. When confronting them, they had came up with every excuse possible. Read the full contract because if your belonging become damaged from them, they will not replace it, fix it, or give you compensation. It's sad to come in to a brand new house and it's already damaged. We worked hard for what we bought. read more

Ruff and Ready moving LLC Most unprofessional company I have ever dealt with. They get paid by the hour and will certainly milk that time to get the most out of your move. When you call to dispute the charges after their guys take several on the clock 20+ min breaks they will argue that their guys don't do that. Austin kept cutting me off as I tried to explain my experience then when I interrupted him back he very rudely said to let him talk. He told me I didn't get a contract because i provided the wrong email. I did not. I called to find the girl who took my info wrote my email wrong. I then correct the info and i still have not received a contract. They start charging you the moment the gps pings them at your address even if they don't come to your door for 15 min. Then you also pay for them to write up paperwork and count it as moving time. They will stop to get gas ( which you pay for) and still be running the clock. I was billed $1200 to move a one bedroom apartment. Yes one bedroom. Their movers took there time to the point that it took one hour to move two pieces of furniture. My son was overlooking as I was running around getting things done at my apartment. If you use this company BABYSIT them!!! They WILL TAKE ADVANTAGE AND GIVE YOU THE RUN AROUND WHEN YOU ADVISE THEM ABOUT YOUR EXPERIENCE. I spoke to one manager and he never returned my call. I had to call back to speak with him. Shawn the first manager hesitated to give me Austin's contact info. They would not help me at all. I am a single mother who was taken advantage of by this company. This review is in support of Jessica S. and a rebuttal to John the owner. I was the shipper for our move. I signed the papers. At no time did I request your employee to place an ad for our pool table on Facebook. The minute I discovered it was listed I called your business and spoke to Paul. At first he denied having said employee. But after I provided proof, he suddenly remembered the employee. During the move, at no time were the movers requested to remove the pool table. My husband mentioned it was for sale and he would like to get it out of the house. This does not in any way imply that the movers can advertise it. They were told that the owner would need to be negotiated with on price. My husband has called numerous times to speak to John who has been refusing to answer and has a full mailbox so we are unable to leave a message to dispute his claim. We await an apology to Jessica and an actual investigation into this attempted sale of property. read more

Do not use this company for out of state moving. This was third moving company I have used and was the worse move I have had. They lost parts to a bed, bike tools, garage floor jack among other things other items were left at another house in a different state. Worse part is when they delivered our goods two weeks after packing the house they only provided 2 people with only one dolly and nothing to protect the floors in our brand new house. I told them not to take the dolly in the house which they did anyway and damaged the door frame to one of the dedI did buy the extra full coverage insurance which apparently has a $500 deductible which I was not informed about, guess I should have read the fine print. Bottom line is they might be a good local mover but they are a terrible out of state mover and should stick to doing the local moves. read more

Paul came out immediately and gave us a quote, which was appreciated because a lot of the other companies we contacted just gave us their rates (which didn't tell us anything about how long it would likely take them). Ours was a two-phase move as we relocated from one house to another in Murrieta. We had Ruff and Ready move part of our belongings in the first move in April , leaving most of the furniture in the old house for staging while it was being sold. Then we did the final move out in June. The estimator came by and did a thorough inventory of what was to be moved and when. He offered good solutions to minimize costs. Each move was done by a team of three young men with a truck. First, was Keith, Jesse, and Todd. The second crew was Jesse, Adam, and Austin. Both teams were professional and extremely courteous. They wrapped our furniture and delicate items in blankets. Nothing was damaged during the moves. They arrived on time, and they completed the jobs quickly. Great experience from start to finish with our move last week from Bonsall to Fallbrook! I asked for recommendations on Facebook and this company came highly recommended. The office gave clear expectations of the process and price, and I got a confirmation the day before the move. This company has the worst mgt. NOT customer service oriented at all! One bad experience was enough! Not even smart enough to pack the electrical cord with the TV. Searched for days before having to purchase new cords. Poorly packed 2 expensive crystal lamps and broke both. Also broke a $2000 gamer computer. I saw one of the workers step high on a wall in stair well to move dresser downstairs. And yes - he left a tread mark on the painted wall! I could go on but I've told you enough. Beware!!! I was looking for a company that was able to move some commercial equipment on extremely short notice in the event that the equipment owners didn't pick it up in time. Not only was Ruff and Ready willing to make my timeline without the guarantee of the job, but when I went by the office to see their operation, I was welcomed by the owner personally and showed the facilities. Unfortunately, the equipment was picked up by the owners as planned, but it was nice to have the comfort in knowing that Rough and Ready had me covered should the worst happen. I own my own business so this kind of personal attention and understanding is greatly appreciated. I will always call these guys anytime I need a good mover. I would definitely not recommend this company for moving!! They overcharged on their quote at the end. It took two days to move a single story Home which most of the stuff was already boxed and ready to go ! because they had employee issues with the two movers that quit according to the The owner. Why should that be my problem? Very convenient you don't remember the bad moves but you remember the good ones and yes two of your guys walked out that was according to you to justify two new very young guys coming in the next day to finish the job and they had no clue of what they were doing! read more

Not sure I would recommend this company. Firstly, when I got my original in-house quote, it took over a week to receive it. The estimator was very nice, but he kept saying he would send the quote and then wouldn't. His computer had crashed or something, but he should have kept me in the loop instead of giving false expectations. I had to call and email several times to figure out why I hadn't received the quote as expected, and it still took days longer than the new days they told me. So ok that's understandable, and they were very accommodating to our budget we wanted to stay in and only loading certain things in a certain amount of time. They even quoted us a shuttle because our new house has a steep and narrow "not a through" street and couldn't fit a large truck. Fast forward to moving day....the semi truck drives down our street, no shuttle. I flipped. I was so stressed out not knowing how they were going to turn around to leave. Luckily the driver was very experienced and was able to back up into the bottom of our steep driveway. Unfortunately that meant hauling every little thing up a 10 car inclined driveway manually... And then up a flight of stairs, because our front door is at the second level. So they didn't charge us for the shuttle but ended up just charging for extra time instead. And the driver was very nice about saying he wouldn't charge for any extra time over our original dollar amount. We helped move our little stuff into the house to keep time down. It all worked out. But then after they left we're looking around and realizing almost every single piece of furniture we own is damaged in some way; our leather chair was ripped on the side, our microfiber couch had red residue smashed into the frame, our white wood bed was chipped, several dark wood pieces had white paint rubbed onto them, our desk had the top moulding ripped off...etc. In order to file a claim we would have had to get repair estimates for everything. Since none of our furniture is that precious to us, and the damage wasn't that obvious nor made the pieces unusable, we opted to let it all slide. But here on yelp these reviews exist to make you aware of what to expect. Hope this helps! read more
