Used to take my dogs to Ruff Cuts for years, when they were located in Suffern. They did an excellent job, and were conveniently located near where I worked. I dropped the dogs off on the way to work and picked them up afterwards. Unfortunately, the last time, I'd forgotten my checkbook. They would not trust me to return with a check the following morning, but instead, refused to give me my dogs until I returned with their check. This meant a 45 minute drive home and back. As you can guess, that was the last time I took my dogs to this groomer! read more

Was going to leave two stars but after speaking to the owner about my issue and her being completely disgusting she m leaving one. The did a shit rush job on my poor dogs hair I went here because they had good reviews and a friend recommended them but never again. Over priced just to basically scalp by dog. When I brought my dog there she did tell me that it was a possibility it would be short I told her that I didn't want it too short and she said she will see what she can do. We took our dog to Ruff Cuts because our usual groomer closed and we could not be more disappointed. We are used to dropping our dog at the groomers for a whole day - they are always excited to see him and take such great care of him throughout the day. We should've been suspicious when we were told that at Ruff Cuts, he would be ready for pick up in an hour. When we picked him up, our dog was completely shaved, which they said was due to matting and knots, which we can confirm is false. Our dog has several skin tags as he is almost 15 years old, and it's clear that special care was not taken around these areas and they just shaved him down. He looks like a completely different dog and it's evident that Ruff Cuts was just trying to get his grooming done quickly. Not to mention, this haircut was more expensive than the place we used to go to. We will never be returning and are extremely upset with the service. read more

Took my peekapoo Rocky for a cut and nail trim and teeth brush and bath today and they were super professional and really nice!!!! My first time there, but we are for sure coming back! Got really bad vibes from the groomer and the receptionist but I decided to try them anyway. I explained to them that he gets anxious when left at the groomers and put in a crate. She acted understanding and said it would be ok. I came to pick him and overheard the groomer (Lisa if I remember correctly) making a snide comment about my dog's barking. It's alright i thought maybe it was a bad day for them. Took my dog back for a 2nd time, and as soon as I walked into the shop the receptionist just glared at me. Got those bad vibes, but again, ignored them. When I came to pick my dog up he had a chunk of his "mane" (he's a Pomeranian) clipped off, completely uneven. I didn't say anything, I just took my dog and got the heck out of there. I saw the same groomer in the parking lot and she just stared me down. Needless to say I never got another call from them, and by the way she cut his hair on the second visit, I got the message loud and clear. They didn't want us to come back. I haven't a clue what I did to those people, all I ever said was hello when dropping him off and thank you have a nice day when picking him up. My dog is my baby and I need to know that I am leaving him with kind and trustworthy staff. NEVER again will I ignore my instincts. Really surprised by all the good reviews. read more

I adopted a 15 year old cat (Barney) from an animal shelter. His owner had died, leaving the cat alone for quite some time before anyone thought to check on him. He was in rough shape and understandably skittish. His fur was matted and dirty and he wouldn't let me brush him. I called Ruff Cuts on the off chance they could help. I never realized cats could get groomed. I brought him in, not knowing what to expect. I figured even if they could get a few of the mats out of his hair it would be worth it. I was amazed! He looks like a different cat. I cannot get over what a great job they did! His coat is smooth and gleaming. He barely sheds anymore, because they got rid of all the loose hair. And he seemed totally unfazed by the experience. They must have been very gentle and patient, because Barney is easily stressed and when I got him home he went back to his usual routine as though nothing had happened. Can't image anyone not liking this place. I call them friendly and efficient. Very reasonable pricing. I am not picky so have taken my guys (cat and dog) to a lot of places and find this place to be one of the best. I feel very comfortable there and am always impressed how good a job they do in a short amount of time, about an hour. I would call them exceptional. Trish the owner of Ruff Cutts is a really sweet and kind person who really seems to care about dogs. I have a half Rotti/Shepard who does not like getting her nails trimmed. A vet had told me that they would need to sedate her in order to trim her nails each time she needed to get them clipped. I see Samantha not as a dog, but as my child...and really didnt want to have to sedate her. Trish had no problem what so ever to try and clip Sammy's nails with my husbands help. To this day, she still gets them done by Trish, and I dont have to worry about feeding her sedatives. Thank you so much Trish!!! read more
