I DO NOT recommend this place for many reasons. The Snap Crackle Pop video https://youtu.be/9Zl4Na4wSuA shows the results of their installation of Shaw flooring. These 'pops' do not happen in isolated areas - they are all over every single room in the 1400 sq foot of our upper level. 1 - Rugworks did NOT share recommended manufacturer installation instructions with us. We purchased the wood from them, they delivered it, unpackaged it and did not share 'manufacturer recommended installation instructions'. 2 - They do not appear to be a NWFA installer. The NWFA also recommends glue assist for wide planks of over 5" as shown in this video https://youtu.be/WDsMY_sXfjc The wood that we purchased from Rugworks is well over 5" wide and glue-assist is recommended to prevent the issue that we have in the entire 2nd floor of our home. 3- ZERO post-install customer service, owner would not come to see the issue in person or propose a solution to the problem. 1 - INSTALLATION recommendation - not sharing recommended installation instructions. Rugworks installed an engineered wood floor in July 2020 which should have been glued down in addition to being nailed down due to its width. This was a 'recommendation' of the manufacturer which was NEVER presented as an option by Rugworks. If Rugworks had told us about the 'recommendation' which is also the preferred method recommended by the National Wood Flooring Association (NWFA) - we would have chosen that installation method. The installation instructions are "For products greater than 5" in width, it is recommended to use a combination glue down assist when using mechanical fasteners" to prevent the wood from moving and causing the problem shown in the video. The wood is 7/16" thick engineered hardwood - SW485 Castlewood Oak - 7.48 inch wide planks - way beyond the 5 inches. Post installation - We noticed that there was a lot of snap/crackle/pop - see video here https://youtu.be/9Zl4Na4wSuA We contacted Rugworks - they assured us that this would subside over 12-18 months. This did not change. We contacted them 12 months later and still have no resolution to this issue. 2 - NWFA certification - Certified installers will share the industry recommended and manufacturer recommended installation instructions. Choose a NWFA installer that reads the install instructions, and will act as a trusted advisor in sharing those with you to ensure that your installation is done to your satisfaction and does not Snap Crackle and Pop with every step. As the seller of the hardwood, and installer - Rugworks should have presented all installation options and did not present the recommended method. 3 - Follow-up customer service and ownership. I contacted their owner Jon Sevenau regarding this issue and invited him to witness the defective installation in person; and he would not come over to see it. He denied that there was any problem with the installation and offered ZERO assistance with any remediation. He mentioned that he was contacting the manufacturer - Shaw Industries - but there was no follow-up on this topic. We had a NWFA inspection and Rugworks had one also - both showed that the flooring issues were because the floor is moving, which it wouldn't be doing if glue assist had been used as recommended by the manufacturer. I would not recommend this place as a result of the issues that you see in this video https://youtu.be/9Zl4Na4wSuA which could have been avoided if they had 1 - told us about the manufacturer recommendation 2 - And, followed the manufacturer recommended method of installation. read more

Run from this store. Incompetent manager, John, prevents an otherwise eager staff from providing reasonable service of potentially quality products. John's negligence resulted in the stores attempt to install a damaged high end carpet in my home, stopped only by the intervention of two honest carpet layers. Once notified his response to me was to suggest that I might find the damages in the carpet to be acceptable. Shock was worsened by his patronizing disrespect for my seasoned experience with home design of a reasonable and acceptable standard. Replacement of an undamaged carpet took 3+ months while my floors were unfinished with a combination of my existing carpet to be replaced and fragments of that half-installed damaged carpet. Would any reasonable person find this to meet the standards of a professional concern. To this day I have not been provided with a prospectus describing the carpet' weave, fiber, expected longevity or standard for cleaning and optimal care. Promised on several occasions, but no follow through. On January 10, 3 months in the waiting, John has refused to provide me with the requested documentation. Run! Had Rugworks put in new laminate hardwood floors in our new home in Sonoma. They came with good reviews and we wanted to support local businesses during COVID. They came in at an expected price and said they could complete the job within a week. We closed on our house, paid half the flooring cost up front, and handed over the keys to an empty house. Little did we know they would hire out to a third-party installer who completely screwed up the entire install. Gaps between boards, broken pieces glued into place, uneven flooring, and saw cuts all over. John, the rep we worked with, sent Doug, the lead installer, back a week later to completely remove and reinstall the floor. We were under the impression they were sending the best they had to offer to redo the job. Turns out we had multiple people working, with seemingly no communication with one another and no Doug in sight. After about a month they said they were done and never did a final walk through. Over the next month, we waited for other installers to reinstall baseboards and doorway transition strips. There is still a large gap between the floor and baseboard in one room. A broken transition strip at the front door that they never completely secured and has completely fallen off. A two piece, poorly glued together transition strip because they were too cheap to put a complete strip on a second bedroom. After being asked for the remaining payment despite the job not being complete, I went in to speak with the owner about getting a refund or, at the very least, letting them keep the initial 50% deposit and washing my hands of their company. He argued, insisting on full payment and said we could do a third round of work to fix the remaining issues. Trust broken, I opted out. I didn't want to deal with anymore animosity and have them take it out on my house. If you want new floors, save yourself the headache and look elsewhere. read more

Can't say enough good things about Rugworks! From picking out materials to installation, we were very pleased with the services we received. We were looking to replace the flooring in our entire home (luxury vinyl to go over our 50 yr old, very worn down, hardwood downstairs and to replace the 20 yr old carpet upstairs) throughout a kitchen remodel. John came early in the process to measure and make sure we knew what to communicate to our contractor re: floor demo in the kitchen. Install team (Sonny and his crew!) were on time, professional and very clean - and worked seamlessly around our other subcontractors coming in and out of the space to work on the kitchen. After having a terrible experience with helping my daughter with flooring out of town I immediately used yelp to find a store near our new house. I already know what I wanted ( the same thing my daughter picked he he ) and we had it in our old home as well. With the amazing reviews this place has I honestly expected something different. Apparently they recently stopped selling the floor my husband and I want. I explained I am not changing my mind, unfortunately the little big fellow didn't get it and kept going on and on about how this other floor was better and the stuff I chose was junk yada yada. Needless to say we found what we wanted in Napa and the sales girl listened and earned our business. Had a small problem with some laminate flooring done by another contractor. Contacted Jessie at Rugworks who we had worked with before on our bedrooms and family room. Though it was a small job Jessie came over the next day, assessed our problem and proposed a solution. She dug around the warehouse and found the perfect laminate for us. This meant no waiting weeks for an order to arrive. Within a week Jordon from Rugworks installed our new laminate and did a great job. We really appreciate the willingness of Jessie and Rugworks to do such a small but necessary job for us. As a former contractor, I tend to not to be very tolerant of imperfect quality, unreliability and over pricing with contracting services. We recently remodeled our home, including hiring Rugworks to install carpets and hardwood flooring throughout the entire house. Knowing all of the things that can go wrong with installing carpets and wood flooring, I was delighted to see that none of those things occurred with Rugworks. I found Jason to be highly professional and understanding of what we needed. His workmen showed up on time and they wrapped up the job ahead of his promised timeline. Definitely a five+ star experience and excellent service from Rug Works. We just bought our first home. There is a lot of work that goes along with that. A lot of work. One thing we had to tackle right away was getting new carpet. We visited several carpet stores; we left each feeling confused, overwhelmed and discouraged. On a recommendation we called Rug Works, they are located out of town, and for that reason they weren't our first stop. Tracy answered the phone and talked to my husband for a long time, patiently answering our questions. She was great and very knowledgeable. Her general quote was much more in line with what we were hoping for and outbid every other quote we had received. She drove an hour to our new home a few days later and took all of the measurements, without any obligation. We told her the carpet color we were thinking of and she brought a few swatches. One was perfect and we pretty much chose it on the spot next to our new wall colors. How much easier and better that was than trying to choosing one rug in a store of thousands of samples!!! Tracy new exactly what we were looking for. We headed over the Rug Works a few days later, picked out flooring for our laundry room (again this took only minutes, Tracy had some great suggestions), picked out the rug pad (they stocked the exact one we wanted), signed some paperwork and put down a deposit. The rug we ordered took a little while to get into the warehouse, it was hard to be patient but about 10 days later, it was installed in our home. The crew worked from morning till dusk laying it down but when I got home from work that evening- it took my breath away. The color is perfect (just as Tracy said it would be), the quality is lovely (we didn't spend a fortune and stayed right on budget) and I just love it. I can't say enough how great this experience was and how happy we are with our carpet. We absolutely recommend Rug Works 100%. read more

A small town store with big city selections! Love this place! Just remodeled our house and we looked at every option for tiles, wood floors and carpet. We got samples from Marin, Berkeley, SF and Rugworks in Sonoma. Why didn't we just stick with our hometown store from the beginning and save ourselves the time and trouble? Every time we found what we needed and the prices were great. Their styles are not small town - the latest in tiles and styles. Fun products. And if we had the same product from one of the big city places, Rug Works always had a better price. They are a great asset to Sonoma. Great service and awesome staff. There's no reason to shop for flooring outside of Sonoma while Rugworks exists. We stopped in to see what they had for luxury plank vinyl and ended up purchasing all our flooring, window coverings and backsplash tile from them. John and Laura went above and beyond to help us make the right decisions. I needed the pads asap being that our rugs were coming back from the dry cleaners, Lakeside Cleaners in Santa Rosa, next day! Total trash, i had gaps in my flooring and they didnt even honor my warranty. Whatever you do dont pay cash they dont keep records after the recommended time the IRS says they throw away records of any proof of warranty. I had them install floors in my house in 2012 they began to fail shortly after huge gaps, floor becoming bubbled from there lack of moisture barrier underneath, total failure on the install. When i went to them to honor the warranty they sold me they basically denied they had no wrong doing and they didnt have on record my transaction with them. I couldnt even get the owner to call me back. They wouldnt even send anyone out to look at IT. I would never ever do business with them ever again in fact i hired valley of the moon flooring to come and fix rugworks mess and they nailed it did an excellent job. Rug Works has served me well for over 10 years. Always helpful, good prices, and convenient for Sonoma residents. Today I asked if they would bind a rug for me, and she said I could bring it in for a binding company to pick up and deliver, with no benefit to them. They seem to know everyone in the valley and happily send you elsewhere if they can't do it. read more

Customer service is obviously important to this store. Even through they were busy when we walked in we were greeted and asked if we needed help. They could not help us right away due to the other customers but checked in with us to get us started looking in the right direction. They have plenty of knowledge on their products and lots to choose from. Installation was quick and clean and the crew was nice and courteous. I have used Home Depot in the past and I am sure you might be able to save a very small amount by going there but the experience in those stores is a pain the butt and god help you if you have a problem. These folks are local and care that you are happy with the end result. I would not hesitate to go here again. read more

Tracy and her crew at rug works is the best. We went out to bid to recarpet our home in Sonoma. I called Rugworks and Tracy answered the phone. I told her we had a couple of bids, and to give me her best quote. She blew the other quotes out of the water! No job goes perfectly. It's how a vendor recovers that counts. Out carpet was installed, and a major flaw was discovered in the weave. Tracy coordinated the replacement of the carpet and offered to come and help us move our stuff around for the second installation. It was not the fault of Rugworks that the vendor shipped flawed goods, but Tracy went out of her way to make sure we were happy and taken care of. I recently had Rugworks install engineered wood in the master bedroom, upper hall and on the stairs in my home. All I can say is Wow! Professionalism, expertise and great customer service was delivered from day one through the end of the project - which was completed on time. Tracy did an excellent job at estimating the absolutely correct amount of wood needed (almost nothing left over). She worked with me on the price and services delivered providing excellent service with a great customer oriented approach. The wood I chose had a lot of character, so care had to be taken in choosing which piece to use each time to ensure a harmonious pattern was created. Every aspect of our experience with Rugworks has been five star. We had an engineered wood floor installed in our new home. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly, and helped me make a great choice for the floor. Jason was helpful with scheduling the installation and overseeing the project. We had to change the date for the work several times due to changes with other contractors, and Jason was always always very flexible and somehow able to juggle things so that the work was done in a timely fashion. Rich, the installer, was really meticulous about his work. It couldn't have been done more perfectly and he went beyond the call of duty in helping with the appliance installation to make sure the floor wasn't damaged. I went to Tracy at Rugworks for wall-to-wall seagrass and hardwood flooring. Her prices were competitive, she has good people, and she's a very good communicator. Hitches arose with the seagrass -- the first roll had flaws -- and she quickly got a replacement roll. When there were delivery problems on the hardwood, she found another product at a lower price. I highly recommend her for her follow-through and integrity. read more

i spent a lot of money on my new carpet based on the recommendation of tracy and her team.....i really liked her and her service oriented attitude, but i ultimately found the information re: how the rug would be laid and seamed and the reality of how it turned out were way off.....i am left with too many seams that were not expected and there is absolutely nothing i can do about it unless i want to go to court.....which i don't.....they have refunded me several hundred dollars for this and that, but i paid MANY thousands for the job.....i think there is an ultimate lack of taking responsibility that is very bothersome bordering on unethical.....in addition they used someone to lay a small piece of flooring in a bathroom who didn't tighten the toilet correctly after replacing it and i had a leaky toilet for a few days until we could figure out what happened.....they ultimately paid me back for what i spent to have it repaired, but it was not a good choice of a subcontractor and is not something one wants to go through when one is doing a remodel.....all in all, i do not recommend them and have sent many friends in other directions..... read more
