I will continue to warn others that my experience has been most upsetting and increased the cost of the carpeting by over $2,000 and left me very unhappy with both Tri County and Lowe's. I'd really like to leave a higher review, but after what happened to us, I just can't. Tri-county installed a vinyl plank floor for us about 3 years ago. When it began to show buckling, they finally agreed that the installation wasn't correct and told us they fired the installer, who obviously wasn't trained correctly. They also didn't prepare the floor properly by not documenting the presence of moisture in some areas or installing a moisture barrier. We were fortunate that they agreed to replace it at no charge but we needed to be responsible for all of the expensive slab preparation and were fully displaced yet again. Their refusal to cover relatively small charges such as hiring a plumber to remove and replace toilets for the second installation would have been a good business move to finish taking care of their customers. This left a bad taste in our mouth which didn't need to happen. read more

We had an amazing experience with Vick from start to finish! We stopped by when we were in Petaluma to get his advice about carpeting, and he was honest and helpful about what our options were and what types of carpet best suited our family. A month later, we contacted him about the deal he mentioned, which he honored and got started on right away. He came to our house and did a detailed walk through of the area, providing recommendations for base board and edging options. After that, he was responsive and helpful, even offering us some deals when things got slightly above our price range. The two crew members he sent to install the carpet did a fantastic, professional job with everything. Arrived on time, installed the carpet and base board carefully, and even re-did an area of base board that was just slightly mismatched. It was a great experience in total and really felt like a win! Best of all, our daughter loved it so much she started rolling around it immediately and flopping everywhere. read more

This is my lucky day....2 weeks ago, I walked into Lowes with the idea of purchasing a carpet for my home. Knowing I was on a strict time line, to purchase and install this carpet , I went ahead and placed the order. During the next two weeks, I kept in contact with Lowe's Flooring Dept and BJM Installation Services, to make sure that carpet was going to get installed on time. There was a time when I doubted it was going to happen, but BJM Instillation Services made it possible and today, that carpet got installed. We just got our bedroom flooring thru Tri County Floors. Prior to visiting them, we went to many other stores. What I liked about them is all the samples they have, and how professional and friendly they were. We mainly dealt with Diane, and she was great. She is very knowledgeable and we really liked that she would give us her honest opinion and not just try to sell us something. We also liked how well they all worked together and if someone didn't know something he/she would ask someone else for help. By the way, we finally had our floor installed and it looks amazing. Mostly a good job on flooring (laminate), but the stairs were a different matter. We asked for a tile riser and got it but because of the poor planning by the stair installer (floor installer was awesome, stair guy, not so much), there is a 2 inch difference between the landing and the next stair causing more than one trip going up or down - a hazard. Strike 1 - The installer did not tell us that this was what would happen (because of the tile height) and instead of asking us if we wanted it that way (we would have said no) they went ahead and did it = poor planning, poor communication, and sloppy workmanship. Strike 2 - When we complained, Tri County management assured us it would be taken care of including saying that the manager would "personally come out and check". But when the installer came back out (not the "manager") to complete the top stair nose (late arriving due to a Lowes back order) he said "nothing I can do" and left. Strike 3 - Called Tri County to complain but mysteriously could not get through to "manager" so left a message. We have not been called back by Tri County and offered anything close to acknowledgement, apology, correction, or a cup of coffee. Super disappointed and cannot recommend Tri County for your flooring needs. read more

Stephanie took my call and welcomed me to the showroom, where I was met by Vick who has many, many years in the business. He came to measure the same day, made suggestions of how to work with my challenging floors (ceramic tile and a significant slope), he responded immediately each time I called, and he followed up during the three-day installation and afterward. We just had new carpet and laminate floors installed through out our home by tri county floors in Petaluma. Excellent work! Maryann helped us select the carpet and laminate at their showroom. There were many samples to choose from! Maryann is obviously very experienced and gave us lots of good information on the floors and color advise. She even ordered many samples for us to keep and see in our home and allowed us to borrow and take samples home also. We made our selection and Maryann came out to our house to measure the job. She then called us with the estimate. We were working within a budget and she was able to come down in price to meet it. After placing the order, the floors arrived promptly and the installation was scheduled. But because we were having a remodel done in our home and our contractor was delaying things, we had to reschedule the installation 3 times. Each time I called Maryann and she was understanding and flexible with rescheduling the floor installation. Salvatore and his helper installed the job. They were very meticulous and experienced. The carpet seams don't show at all. The laminate wood floor is flawless. We also had them install the new baseboards over our laminate floor which they did cheaper than what our contractor was going to charge us and probably better! We have rounded corners so that can be tricky. They vacuumed and cleaned up before they left. Thank you tri-county floors! read more

Tri Country was highly recommended to us by our realtor for flooring as we were prepping our house to sell. Someone came out to do an estimate and instead of replacing the carpet in two bedrooms and a hall, it was suggested to us that we simply continue the hardwood we have down the hall and clean the carpet in the rooms as it was in good condition. We went with their recommendation and set up an install date. The first installer came out and after tearing the hallway carpet out said there were circumstances that were going to make the install more complicated and he wasn't prepared to handle them... fair enough - things come up. The office staff later called and said the install was going to cost us more and we "should have just gone with carpet", which was our original plan, but we were talked into the hardwood (which I purchased on sale and couldn't be returned). They set up a new date for us with a more experienced installer and we ignored the torn up hallway for a week. The second installer was supposed to show up between 9-11 am on the new date, so I waited around all the while paying for childcare. At 11 am I received a call that the installer would not be coming and they could not do the job. The installer couldn't find parking (we are in SF and they were aware that we did not have a designated parking space) and didn't want to carry his equipment up our stairs. I offered the spot my car was parked in (half a block away from our house) and said I would carry his equipment. They said it didn't matter at that point, he had already turned around to leave the city. No solutions or apologies offered. They never called back to remediate the situation and I was left with a torn up hallway. It was the most unprofessional experience I have had through several remodels. The one star can be given to the office staff that did quickly book our jobs, but that is it. They must use unreliable installers who are inexperienced because I was able to get a new installer in less than a week that had the 60 sqft hall done beautifully in 3 hours! read more

I worked with TRI COUNTY DESIGN CENTER (aka BJM Construction, when booked through Lowes), and had a 110% positive experience. The job was organized through HENRY, who promptly returned calls, confirmed appointments, and coordinated with various other parties, on my behalf. Professionalism may be just a word to most people, but it's how HENRY does business. My veteran tile installer was OZZY, who has worked as an installer for 20+ years. His demeanor was cordial, diligent, respectful, and professional. OZZY did wonders on my 3 residential bathrooms, removing dry rot / moldy particle board subfloor, to reveal solid 3 / 4" plywood subfloor, installed 1 / 4" Hardie Backer Board, followed by 4" x 18" driftwood - type ceramic tile, and 1 / 8th" grout, in a 1 / 3rd pattern. OZZY even discussed how the light would be reflected on the tile, and which pattern would work best, suggesting to lay the tile out on the patio to determine which pattern I'd like best. The price was about $4.29 per square foot for a simple pattern, excluding about $2.29 per square foot for the ceramic tile materials cost, $11.00 per sheet of Backer Board, and grout.
