Honestly, high-end restaurants aren't what they used to be...especially in Bellevue. A lot of them charge you a fortune and you're not actually getting anything high-end. It's like paying Birkin prices for a generic bag. (Carmine's? That's a story for another time, lol.) Anyway I stumbled on this place in Kirkland completely by surprise, and let me tell you again stop your search. The food is super high quality, and the ambiance is just as good. Clean, modern, tight. Ruk Thai is a newer neighborhood level Thai restaurant in Bridle Trails, Kirkland, same plaza as ACE and Grocery Outlet. The menu is a good start with what I consider safe or approachable choices. Nearly all dishes are recognizable. They are not aiming to be the next Thai street food hot spot or featuring a new region. This approachable menu is a winning start. The dishes are well executed. The staff is very kind and sweet. The inside is prettily decorated (see photo), with tables in a L shape, bar seats. There are a few tables outside, too. With so many preferring take-out these days, their restaurant size is about right. The Food: Beef Salad, $20.95 - 5+ Stars It has been a long while since I ordered a Thai beef salad. Theirs is as good as I remember. Refreshing and crispy veggies are paired with tender slices of beef that aren't fatty. This is an ideal protein and produce meal. Highly recommend. Ruk Thai Sizzling Beef, $24.95 - 4.5 Stars This namesake hot plate dish is exactly as it stated - veggies and beef served on sizzling platter. The beef is well marinated and tender. Veggies are a good ratio to the beef. Very good dish overall. Kai Jeaw, $10.95 - 3 Stars The menu states traditional Thai omelette with thin soy sauce and cilantro on top. I was wondering what this is. The server said this is her favorite dish. I decided to try it. Well, it is exactly as stated and nothing else. It's 'okay' but not particularly interesting. Someone's homey dish, just not mine. Brown Rice, $4 - 3.5 Stars Kinda strange to rate a bowl of brown rice. I do want to say $4 is a bit steep. read more

We recently moved nearby from Seattle and wanted to try this highly rated Thai spot. Ambience- this place is pretty cute and I definitely want to come back for the cocktails next time. The people who work here are so friendly as well. Their spice levels are not typical Thai restaurant spice levels (which I guess means it's safer for those who can't handle spice). Their level 3 was not really spicy and neither was their level 4. I think I'm going to have to ask for level 5 next time and normally at other Thai restaurants I'm dying by then. Tom yum- 4/5 this was decent, but I feel like it could've been a little more sour/flavorful for how much it was. Tod yun- 3/5 I have been craving Thai fish cakes ever since I ate so many in Thailand and had high hopes but it just didn't quite hit the spot. It tasted a little bit like it was premade a while ago / microwaved? Panang curry- 3/5 the coconut really overpowered the other flavors Chicken pad kemao- 4/5 this was solid, could've had some more wok flavor. Will definitely stick to this next time. Overall, I feel like the food was overpriced for the taste hence the 3/5 rating, but this is Kirkland I guess. Went on a Friday night, the restaurant had a sleek, modern atmosphere that felt both upscale and sophisticated. Although seating was limited, the stylish decor, luxurious cutlery, and bar area created a great vibe for a refined dining experience. I ordered the Thai Special Vegetables with Chicken, expecting a stir fry in oyster sauce. Instead, it seemed more like steamed vegetables with chicken. The dish was underwhelming bland and reminiscent of boiled "sick-day" food though the oyster sauce itself was flavorful. Would I return? This restaurant just opened up two weeks ago and it's close to our house. It's cozy and unpretentious and has nice decor. Menu is pretty small but they have some of the favorites. The service was really good and servers were super friendly. Food was very good but servings were a tad small and pretty pricey. We ordered a ton of different things to try and everything was tasty. All in all. I'm glad to have a neighborhood Thai place that I can order takeout from when I'm craving Thai food. read more

I wanted to try this new Thai place in the neighborhood. The ambiance was great - well decorated and clean. Kind of fine dine. The service was nice and quick. However I'm bit disappointed with the food. I expected more of Curry fried rice - but the rice was dry and quite bland. The green curry fried rice was pretty good. Finally there were hardly any dessert options - we opted for vanilla ice cream. Server mentioned they are still on limited menu for soft launch, but I would expect even the limited menu to be some of well-selected Thai desserts than just vanilla ice cream. read more

It's been a while since I have written a review but I really liked this place so thought I would share. These folks are located in the Bridle Trails strip mall area along with Ace Hardware and Grocery Outlet. ordered the Beef Salad that came with the right amount of spice and loads of beef. My husband ordered the Pad Thai and the flavor was spot on. It tasted like the genuine Pad Thai with tamarind sauce that my husband likes. I know we talk about "wok hei" in Chinese cooking alot but yeah this Pad Thai had that "wok hei". Large portions for a good price. Service is very friendly. Definitely one of my favorites and they're 5 mins drive from my house. read more

Went here for their lunch special on a Thursday and was not let down at all! Interior was tastefully decorated and there's plenty of space inside. The special when I went was pad thai and chicken and rice. Generous portion, and the pad thai was really nicely flavored. The standout for me though was the satay skewers -- they were REALLY flavorful and so, so tender. Legit don't think I've had a more tender skewer maybe ever haha! This is the first place I've found in the Seattle area that was actually spicy. It was even too spicy for me. It is awesome. The furnishings and finishes are all very nice and show why it took so many months for them to finish the remodel. The service was over the top great. Every time I looked, they had someone watching the dining room and bar to spring into action if someone needed something. You can tell the staff cares about service and the food. read more

Outstanding and very friendly service, with full bar and extended wine list. But even more important is the food. Very fresh ingrediants, the chicken is cooked very tender. The rice is excellent. We had Shrimp Spring Rolls, the Beef Salad, Orange Chicken, Penang Curry and two servings of steamed rice. All were delicious! We will absolutely be back! read more

Been so excited to have another neighborhood restaurant option, especially a Thai one! We ordered take out of two of our family's favorites -- Phad See Yew and Larb -- and they were EXCEPTIONAL! Really great restaurant that just had their soft opening on December 6. Very friendly staff and incredibly flavorful dishes. You have to get the pineapple shrimp curry!
