Glass Noodle Pad Thai (3.75/5): The chicken was brutally overcooked and chewy, but the rest of the dish was quite nice. It's one thing to wait over an hour for a table, but then to sit for another 15 minutes and be ignored at your table is something different and unacceptable. There was apparently a banquet of some kind going on in and the kitchen was overwhelmed. When our server did appear, we mentioned our long wait and he apologize profusely because of the large group they had in their banquet room who had overwhelmed their kitchen. He offered us free cocktails as a service recovery effort. When we placed our order, we found out we wouldn't be able to order any curries, because, you guessed it, the kitchen was overwhelmed with the banquet they were hosting. We ended up ordering some spicy chicken, several orders of chicken pad Thai, fried rice, and potstickers. Everything tasted fabulous and it arrived fairly quickly. To our surprise and since this was a birthday celebration, our server brought out a couple scoops of vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce, and a candle. We sang happy birthday to our birthday girl. What started out as a pretty miserable way to celebrate someone's birthday actually ended up with fabulous food and a birthday treat. The restaurant had the usual noise and wasn't too loud. Appetizers: Small Thai Fish Cake (Tod Mun Pla) - 4 pcs - homemade, fried fishcakes, served with a cucumber-plum sauce topped with crushed peanuts on the side. Small Spareribs - Crispy-fried pork spareribs flavored with garlic and white pepper, and served with a spicy siracha chili sauce. Papaya Salad (Som Tam) - this Thai salad features shredded papaya, prawns, tomatoes, fresh chilies, lime juice, dried shrimp and crushed peanuts. Served with cabbage leaves. Khao Soi - A Burmese-influenced dish popular in Northern Thailand, this dish combines crispy egg noodles, shallots, lime, pickled green mustard, sliced red onion and chicken in thin yellow curry. Comes with condiments on the side -- lime, red onion, cilantro, and one other condiment that I'm not sure what it was (looked like pickled vegetables). Yummy! There were more noodles in the curry sauce, and it was nice to have a mix of the noodles (crunchy and the ones in the sauce). This dish had ample protein as well. I ordered three dishes this evening. The chili fried rice was salty, but the flavor was okay. The Pad Thai was unacceptable--it was extremely dry and had absolutely no flavor. They checked on us often and gave us refills non stop. The food was absolutely delicious. Would suggest the Tom Kai for a tom yum with a creamer coconut base and the crispy garlic chicken is a must! We met our family there for lunch. The door shows it is open at 11:00 but it didn't open until 11:30. Unfortunately our visit was not very good. Let me start with the hostess, who started with a negative first impression. She greeted us and asked to wait a second so she could check if our table was ready. We went to the rest room and she totally forgot that she already greeted us, so another round of very fake "welcome, how can I help you". (Mind you, the restaurant was almost empty). We asked if we could be seated as our guests were still stuck on the highway. I was shocked to hear a resounding NO. We had to plead with the manager to let us seated and have some drink. One of the guests does not eat spicy stuff, so we asked for sauce on the side. He instructed us to mix everything in the dish, because it is their culture! (I have been to Thailand many times never seen rudeness like this) On to the food, it is not too bad, but nothing to write home about. We had 5 dishes, and only the khao Soi dish is of passing grade. Another person had the teriyaki glass noodle dish (menu photo included shrimp) but the dish did not come with shrimp. Assuming you have to order and pay an additional charge if you want shrimp. Waiter needs to take time to let his customers know when there is an additional charge. If you want the full menu, go to Capitol Hill in Seattle! I was sad to learn that Khao Man Gai (hainanese chicken) was only available at the Seattle location and not at the Redmond location. Not that my drunken noodles or Thai sukiyaki wasn't yummy, but I had come hoping for khao man Gai. We still enjoyed our meal and our small (16oz) Thai tea. Sadly I forgot to take photos. Sat a big party easily. Had some delightful crab Rangoons and crispy spring rolls. Fresh rolls were too big but tasty. Khai spice was very mustards more than curry-y and chicken was sparse.
