    Cachangas
    Muriel D.

Had a reservation and was seated promptly. It was a bit busy but service was attentative. Server was knowledgeable about the menu and kind. My sister and I ended up getting a few dishes to share: Japanese fried chicken, halibut, crab yakimeshi, and lobster norteña. The kitchen was able to accomodate and put the sauce and avocado for the norteña on the side (my sister is picky) which I appreciated. The food came out pretty quick and was delicious. The halibut was not my favorite (I wouldn't order it again) though even that was yummy. The japanese fried chicken?! Amazing. I almost didn't order it but am glad we did. The meat itself is packed with flavor, but it's even better with the sauce it's served with (as most things are. The crab yakimeshi was our next favorite item. The rice was phenomenal. For dessert we got the cachangas which wonderully surpassed our expectations. It was a fun dish that reminded us a bit of pretzel bites (but way more airy and delicious). I thought the price we paid was fair for 3 dishes, dessert, and two drinks. Ambiance was nice. Good for a date, girl's night, special occassion, etc. Would definitely come back! Parking can be found on street if you're lucky or it's around $22 at Lafayette Garage which is right across the street.

Personally I love the interior design very much. It's a mix of eastern with western cultural elements. Coming here for a drink with some appetizers is very satisfying. The pop chicken with chilly oil sauce was tasty; the small bites and sushi went well with the special cocktails!

Such fun vibes! All the small plates were good especially the crab fried rice! Would also just come here for the drinks and a dessert as their Big Fish is one my favorite desserts in all of Boston

My family and I came here for dinner, and the restaurant has a swanky, beautifully designed atmosphere. We ordered the spicy tuna, rock shrimp, Phoenix rolls, and chicken fried rice. The rolls were flavorful and enjoyable, while the chicken fried rice was just okay. The service could have been better, but overall the food was delicious. It's a great spot for a date night. We were staying at the Godfrey hotel (which is connected to the restaurant), there were no available reservations online. I went downstairs and was able to make a reservation for 40 minutes later. If you don't have reservations and are nearby, stop by and make one - they may be able to get you in on the same day.

I was able to have dinner at Ruka on a quiet weekday evening and was glad to make it in! I think that Ruka really nails the Latin/Asian fusion flavor combos in food and drinks. In particular I really enjoyed the combo of flavors in sesame/tequila, aji chili crisp, and octopus/fried rice. The menu is pretty large and also features sushi which I would love to try more of. The space was also quite beautiful and gave an clean upscale vibe while still maintaining personality. Dishes at Ruka are a bit on the pricier side, but understandable given location. A really solid choice if you are in the area!

Tried Ruka for the first time and was pleasantly surprised -- the food was so good! I can see why it's such a popular spot for birthday celebrations, the atmosphere feels special without being stuffy. Love the Tea service! Highly recommend ending the night with the big fish dessert -- it's such a fun and tasty way to cap off the meal.

I was impressed by the creative blend between Asian and South American flavors! Rolls: I was not a huge fan of the Ruka Spicy Tuna and the Vat Bottom Girl was decent, but the Pulpo Chancón in particular stood out, with delicious octopus and an incredible blend of flavor and texture. Disappointingly, the lighting in the restaurant was too dim to take proper photos. We also ordered the Hamachi Ceviche and Plancha Shrimp, which were also great fusion dishes. Overall a great experience, the only issue being the meal was a bit too pricy to come back too often- but they're just around what you'd expect for the DTX/Theater District area.

One of the best restaurants we've ever eaten at! NYE in Boston, reservations a MUST...this place was spectacular. The ambiance is romantic and sultry, perfect for date night or a really impressive outing. The food was spectacular and our server Erika was so sweet and gave us all the best recommendations which was pretty much everything and she was right! We were so happy with our experience here.

We ordered 3 dishes to share between the two of us - spicy tuna roll, tako meshi (octopus fried rice with sweet potato crispy wafers), and hot salmon fritas (salmon ceviche like topping on crispy sushi rice which had almost like hash brown effect). We didn't get drinks but they looked so good! Ambiance was vibey with cool decor, attentive service, and all tables were full even at 5:30pm, so glad we made a reservation.

Stunning restaurant downtown Boston! Fun menu from great sushi choices to Chicken Wings with Fried Rice, which was our choice to share. Tempted with sushi, but two wings were HUGE and we weren't that hungry. Prompt and friendly server; we left happy.

Fresh fast fun! Ambiance on point! Also the sesame noodles have these diced pickled green beans that are vinegary and crunchy and so good!

Dark spot with very unique decor. Similar to tapas or dim sum. Lots of small shareable plates. The service is not the best. Slow to greet us and quite a wait to take our order. Food was slowly arrive too. Setting and meal were very good. I love the space. We loved every dish we tried. Very unique combinations. The yuzu cucumbers were very good and an unusual pairing.

Now I must say this spot is gorgeous. Love the decor, love the vibes. Right in downtown on Washington between west and temple. Parking could be hard to find on a weekend night in that area, but there is garage parking and meters around. We didn't have reservations, but they had a cancellation and we were seated right away! Staff were super nice, our waiter he was awesome. I forget what his name was but he kept making sure water was filled, checking on our table for needs, and clearing empty plates. Now the sushi to me wasn't out of this world but they do a good job presentation and freshness. + Phoenix Sunrise - torched salmon, spicy crab stick, avocado, cucumber, hot sesame oil, tobiko I enjoyed this roll, torched salmon felt fresh, tasted and textured blended well. + wagyu mofu - torched a5 wagyu, cucumber, avocado, asian pair, hauncaina, rocoto chili butter, shiitake bacons Probably wouldn't get this one again, flavor profile was fine, presentation was nice with the dry ice and table side completion of the dish. The Wagyu was the thinnest slices I've ever seen, but the roll itself was just mushy to me even with the crispy bits sprinkled on top. Needed something inside that had a better crunch imo. +hamachi ceviche- charred jalepenos, coconut, leche de Tigre, avocado, okinawan chips, sushi rice We all enjoyed this dish, refreshing start to dinner. Light creamy and had chunks of hamachi. Nice flavor combination! + spicy yuzu cucumbers- Persian cucumbers, yuzu vinaigrette, aji chifa chili oil, garlic, sesame Flavor was good, hot oil satay over cucumbers, however would have been nice if the cucumbers were colder and crunchier. They were pretty soft and warm when we got them (not sure if that was the intent) but wouldn't get this personally again. + Lima style fried calamari - leche de tigre garlic butter, red onions, chile, bonito This was yummy, good flavor profile, light crispy batter with squid tentacles and body. The spicy mayo we asked for had a nice little chili kick so their version is yum. + St. Louis ribs - Berkshire pork, aji chili dry rub, pat chun sticky sauce, smoked salt This was one of my favorite flavor profiles of the night with what we ordered. Now the rib meat wasn't fall off the bone tender, it was more on a TAD bit dry but man this is a winner dish. Flavor and portion was nice everyone got 1 rib. Would get again. Nice spice, finger licking good. + spicy salmon fritas - spicy salmon, sushi rice crispy, sliced avocados, spicy no moto sauce, ginger teriyaki. I enjoyed this very much so as well. The crispy rice gels well with the spicy salmon on top. Two bites per piece and it just worked. Think nigiri but with crispy rice. + Macaw - mocktail was well balanced almost felt like it had alcohol but didn't. Not overly sweet and tasty! + Aji alegre- tequila, passionfruit, Aji Amarillo, bitter orange and lime. The lady liked the drink i thought it had nice hit of citrus, not overly sweet and wasn't overpowered by the alcohol. + Nikkei expresso - an expresso martini with Japanese whiskey, my buddy enjoyed the drink, balanced and smoky. I would say it was worth it, we were all satisfied, and didn't feel like we got ripped off like at Mr. H in seaport for the quality of the food and service. I'll be bringing my business here! p.s. Bathrooms are right up two steps at the end of the restaurant and to the left in the hotel.

No. My whole family went for dinner

Do I need to make a reservation in advance for evenings or weekends?

Yes, definitely highly recommend. During the week I'd say no.

What is the tea service at Ruka?

It's a cocktail for two served cold in a teapot with two shot glasses. They bring out a smoking dragon (dry ice in a dragon pot) to add whimsy. It's delicious and cute.

It was about a 10 minute wait for a table to clear, we got lucky. It was our first time having Peruvian food so we got a bit of everything. Mar y Tierra which is basically the lomo salteado served with pasta in a cheesy sauce instead of fries and rice and topped with shrimp, super tasty, well seasoned and tender meat. The trio Marino; fried fish was fresh and super tasty, especially topped with the citrusy red thin sliced onions; ceviche was light, refreshing, the corn gave it nice crunch and pop; arroz chaufa de mariscos had a good amount of shrimp, squid, and topped with a scallop, very tasty. We also tried the fried cuy , there's the option to order a quarter, half or full cuy. I'm glad I tried it, it tasted like a cross between chicken and pork. Lastly, we had the weekend special, seco de cordero, which is stewed lamb shank. It was falling of the bone and tasty, served with a hearty portion on white rice and white beans. I really appreciate that they have an "American" section on the menu for picky kids like mine who like to have chicken and fries no matter where they go. 4 out of 5 stars because although the servers were very friendly, service was lacking. We didn't get napkins or utensils until we asked and after getting the food. Food is made to order which is great but it all comes out at different times, it was fine for us because we were eating as a family, everyone trying each dish but it would not have worked well for a group each wanting their own meal. Shoutout to the owner who is cooking in the kitchen and also came out to check on all the tables. Overall it was a great meal and experience, you can feel the love and pride they have for their food. I would absolutely recommend and come back!
