    Crab rice
    Dave G.

Nautilus, highly hyped - but highly disappointing. Flavor combos, execution, and things like the crab rice being incredibly salty made for a very poor experience. Sat outside, service was good and quick - no complaints there. Overall I thought the flavors left itself more to the western palette and were muted. Started with the Karaage - small pieces of chicken were left in the fryer a bit long. Had a somewhat burnt taste. Buns were tastey but for $20 what an insanely small piece of pork. Crab rice - flavors were bright but the chef put too much salt and it through the entire dish off. The saving grace for the meal was the Tres Leches. So well executed with a nice meringue on top. Not recommended

The food isn't anything special but the ambiance is nice. I recommend the pork bao buns

I have a reason to go to Boston any chance I can get. This place! It's been over a month and I still think about the food. I love Asian fusion and they do it right here. Everything is so good but the highlights were the radish cakes and lobster roll. Because I still remember those dishes. But everything we ordered was delicious. We loved dining there that we ate there two nights in a row when we were there for a convention. The location is in walking distance from the convention center and love the waterfront space.

I was in Boston for work and my colleague and I decided to have dinner here. I was glad we had a reservation because it was quite busy! The service was friendly and attentive during our entire visit. We shared with the poke bowl, beef salad, oyster tacos and the chicken wings. Everything came out so quickly and was very fresh. Our favorites were the poke bowl. The portion was great to share between 2 people and it was delicious! The oyster tacos were sooo good! I was surprised to like them so much because they are so different, but the combination of ingredients worked and they were amazing. The beef salad was good, a little spicy. The chicken was ok, they had an aftertaste that I didn't care for, could have been the oil that they were fried in. If I came back I would definitely get the poke again and the oyster tacos!

Had an okay experience here. We got stuck in traffic and were about 5 minutes late to our reservation, but because of that (despite a 15 minute grace period) we were told that we lost our table and would be put at one in the back. We were literally sat in a table squeezed by the bar in the very back, where there was constant squeezing and shuffling, basically the antithesis of personal space. Servers were pretty nice and once we ordered food came out very quick. Overall the food was pretty good, but wasn't worth the price point since the ambiance didn't make it for us.

Ambiance was great-super pretty turquoise blue branding and a nice view of the water outside. Service was good overall! Our waiter was friendly and was knowledgeable on a lot of the menu items, which equipped him well for recommendations. The waiters didn't come by often to refill water or ask if we needed anything, which was the only downside. Wine, 8/10: Was clean and crisp, helped balance out the overly salty food! Food: -Dan Dan Noodles, 8.3/10: The noodles were more of a lighter consistency than the dan dan noodles I'm used to, which was a plus. Was a balanced, clean spicy flavor with the right amount of pork. -Peking Duck, 8.5/10: The duck was well-seasoned and came with two parts of the duck (one more meaty/fatty, one lean/slightly crispy) served with sushi rice underneath the leaner part. The sauces (sriracha, mayo, hoisin) could have been more complex and presented better (they came in plain squeezable bottles) considering the price of the dish (~$135). The dish was good but super salty and too heavy relative to traditional peking duck dishes. -Raclette-Stuffed Peppers, 7/10: The dish had just the right amount of spice. Would have been nice if the dish was a bit more complex, felt like it was missing that wow factor. -Japanese Chicken, 9/10: It seems like your typical karaage dish, but the chicken had some of the best texture I've ever had in a karaage dish-super juicy and soft. The sauce was you typical karaage sauce. -Oyster Tacos, 7/10: Wasn't bad, wasn't great. Got this dish bc of other good reviews, but wasn't wowed by it. Overall, great for ambiance, but the food wasn't anything special. Feels like the food didn't stay true to their Asian roots for the most part, simultaneously tasted not Asian or American enough.

Business dinner , met with a quick, polite and attentive waiter. Nautical themed restaurant in the seaport on Boston harbor. Sharing foods family style. Ordered the Old barrel cocktail, very nice. Food recommendations Good: octopus, bao buns Very good: green beans seasoned with a nice snap , shishito peppers salty but good , short ribs - tender , tasty but had the pick out the bones Great : chicken -juicy, flavorful and crunchy , blue crab rice - flavorful , daikon radish cakes - unique texture - delicious taste crispy skin and fluffy body Seafood and Asian fusion, vwery good. Expensive but I would go back for a special occasion

I was expecting more, but overall it was a good meal. The set up of the restaurant is a little odd and service was slow. We were seated in a back room where there was a separate bar, and the party next to us kept having to squeeze between our table and the wall to get by. A bit stiff for vibes and probably not a great spot to just get drinks. The food was very yummy, but overpriced for what it is and very small portions. I'm glad we went to give it a try, but I don't think we're in any rush to go back.

The family style duck, which made the dinner experience amazing!

The food was amazing. It was an experience, not just dinner. Our service was great and he explained the process well. The duck was absolutely amazing and made for an extremely memorable going away dinner for my son who is leaving for Boot Camp the ambience was perfect the deep sea theme for my son was leaving for the Navy was perfect and the unique selection was refreshing

The food here is pretty good. I would say a lot of it seems to be inspired by asian dishes. (I'm not sure who the chefs & owners are) The scallops, the corn, and the octopus were really good here. The bathroom here is also pretty nice & there's an underwater theme throughout.

I loved my dinner here! The crab fried rice was excellent!! Definitely star of the show. The patio had a view of the water and was so cute. I also tried the asparagus kale salad and the pride cocktail. Both were pretty good! Overall it was an elevated dining experience.

I was really impressed by the food and service at Nautalis. There wasn't one thing we ordered that I didn't like. The lobster roll was fantastic and had an Asian fusion vibe to it. Different than your typical one. I also loved the cucumbers with kimchi, I would definitely recommend ordering those. Super crunchy and refreshing. Some dishes were smaller than others like the poke but the others were a pretty good portion. It is pricy but the food is great. Restaurant has a good vibe but it is dark. I would definitely recommend coming here for drinks or dinner.

We had an amazing experience! The service was quick, on top of things, and made excellent recommendations. We were absolutely thrilled. My group is in town for a work conference and decided to grab food here. Loved that it's tapas style because we were able to try a few things each and some of them were things I wouldn't have ordered myself as I'm not the biggest seafood fan. I can honestly say I enjoyed everything I tried. It can get a little noisy inside, but overall we were comfortable. We all had various drinks we enjoyed beforehand, and I can't even name all the dishes, but I took photos when I could remember. We didn't get dessert, and didn't ask what the options were because we were so full. Would absolutely go back. Kudos to the team that served us!

Ask the Community - Nautilus Pier 4

Do they serve cappuccinos or tea at this restaurant?

They serve multiple teas, espresso, americanos, lattes, and cold brew.

Do you have heated outdoor seating and are you open Dec 24 or Dec 25? I also have some mobility issues so wondering if there are stairs I have to traverse?

Mobility issues are not a problem, but no heaters on the patio, and closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. But the website for up to date hours.

Managing a group that size is not easy, and they made it look smooth. AMBIANCE: This place leans more Boston bar energy than traditional fine dining, and that is part of the charm. It was packed, a little tight at times, but it felt alive. You are not coming here for quiet elegance, you are coming for the buzz, the movement, and that shared experience of a packed room enjoying great food together. FOOD: We went all in and ordered family-style, almost tapas style, sharing everything across the table. Squid ink pasta, black pasta, fried calamari, grilled octopus, dish after dish hitting the table. Everything was delicious, but what really stood out was the sauce. The broths, the richness, the depth of flavor, that is what stayed with me. I found myself talking about it mid-meal, and I was not the only one. At one point, people were practically trying to drink the sauce straight from the plate. That is when you know it is hitting on another level. You know you're doing a good job when you put much thought down to how you make your sauces and broths. I was impressed from both a top down and bottom up level of culinary experience. IMPRESSIONS: I need to come back here to on more sauces and broths.

The former was very very mediocre; it was fresh but the batter seemed soggy and the sauce was watery and weak. However, the fra diovolo was fantastic. Al dente noodles cooked to perfection and the scallops and shrimps were large, juicy, and tender. I'd recommend it for sure; it's one of those dishes you'll definitely be sopping the bread with the leftover sauce (which you should do anyway). Just FYI, it's not spicy at all. Turns out, it's about what you can expect from this type of chain: good service, very pleasant ambiance...and thoroughly mediocre, overpriced food. Wouldn't be surprised if a lot of it came directly from Sysco. Previously I had tried the "Legal Seafoods Clam Chowder" sold at Costco, and found it to be very so-so compared to the "Captain Parker's" version sold at Market Basket. I was hoping the in-restaurant version would be much better. Wrong. Probably the most appalling thing about the food here were the fries, which come with most of the dishes unless you specifically ask for a substitute. I was glad that I did, because when I tasted my friend's fries, they were just about the most dry, bland, doughy-like frozen fries you could imagine. Only thing you can do with fries like that is to oversalt the bejesus out of them, and drown them in ketchup. Best thing we (party of 4) had was the Steak Salad---but when the menu says "petit sirloin" you dang better believe they MEAN "petit," lol ... it was about 3-4 mouthfuls tops! Really more of an appetizer worth $15 at most, not the $28 normal entree pricing. Fish and chips were particularly dismal---the fish was tasteless, most likely frozen just like the horrible fries. I've had better fish and chips from humble diner type places like Mike's Roast Beef in Everett, for Chrissakes. Hell, even Friendly's Fish and Chips doesn't seem that bad in comparison, lol. Swordfish and trout were somewhat less bad, but also suffered from the avalanche of cardboard fries. Anyways, now I know: I wasn't missing anything all these years.
