Food quality and taste is amazing, drinks are good, service and staff and friendly and very attentive. Ambiance is what you'd expect of a nice upscale sushi restaurant. You can tell they take what they do very seriously and operate in a very professional manner. I did the tasting menu and the only downside is the meal will set you back quite a bit, but you knew that. I would come back when the bank permits it.

I went to UNI with two of my roommates as it is part of the chase sapphire reserve exclusive tables and I never been before. The interior is dark but well lit with candles, and not too noisy which was nice during conversation. The wait staff was super friendly and accommodating, giving excellent recommendations and letting us know how many pieces are in each dish since there were three of us. For food, the best thing was the duck confit gyoza and the crab fried rice. I personally love duck and gyoza so combining was amazing, and i never had dill in fried rice before but it paired so well together. The brussels and pork ribs were also really good, the brussels came with peanuts and the pork was fall off the bone. The chow fun was alright, it did have a nice crispy crunch on some parts but it was overly salted. The dumplings and both the sushi rolls were super mid. It wasn't bad at all but it wasn't good. Personally, I do not think any of these foods are worth the price point (which is why the three stars). The bill before tip was $200. Although the ambience and the waitstaff were super friendly, I don't think I would come here again because of the price point.

Indeed nice presentation for every dish, fresh ingredients, quality sushi but the dishes are all very small, no larger than 2 onces even for the cooked ones, and it's $23 for a small bowl of noodles. Way overpriced.

Very good sushi. Everything was very fresh and creatively put together. The ribs were awesome. The dumplings were delicious.

I came on a Sunday night. I ordered the tasting menu and some other items, like Brussels sprouts, crab rice, grilled octopus etc. My bill was 400+ for 3 people. The food is very "fused" together. I cannot taste how fresh the food was. It was either too salty, too sour, or too sweet. Their sauces are very strong even though they only put a little bit on it. I am sorry but at this price, I would go somewhere else. For example, the Thai Brussels sprouts has so much sauce on it (I think it's curry) that I cannot taste the vegetable itself. The foie gras (raspberry sauce??) was so sour that it just took out the foie gras taste... Some good memorable dishes is the squid ink lo mein, and the prime New York strip. Also, the towels to clean your hands before you eat was cool.... Otherwise, not somewhere I would recommend to others.

UNI was one of the best food experiences I've had in Boston! We shared a bunch of different dishes, which is definitely the way to go if you're having dinner here. Everything we got was so fresh and unique tasting. I loved that their drinks had such fun names and they even had mocktails on the menu. The place has a really cool vibe and a great bar area if you're stopping by. All our dishes came out super fast so we weren't ever waiting too long. Our bartender was also so friendly and fun! Can't wait to be back here!

Wow! We had an amazing time eating at Uni! This place definitely deserves a visit (or multiple) because their food is some of the best I've tried in the area. First, it seems that you will definitely need a reservation as the restaurant quickly filled up as soon as they opened around 5:30PM. The restaurant itself felt moody but open to chatter, with somewhat loud music playing and everyone talking. Our server and all the staff we encountered were so friendly and accommodating, checking on us just the right amount of times to ensure our experience was going well. The staff also all knew each dish and explained to us their ingredients in detail. Overall, our experience was amazing and we felt very well taken care of by the attentive staff. Their food was on another level, and I easily found something to love in every dish we tried! Even their seemingly simplest dishes had a burst of flavor like the Caesar salad, eggplant, and crab fried rice. I especially loved the eggplant, it was cooked to the perfect soft texture and paired well with the okra. The squab and miso cod also stood out to us, both soaked in delicious and unique sauces. We tried a plethora of sashimi and nigiri, all of which tasted fresh and delicate, prepared with a careful hand. Shout out to sushi chef Tsuyoshi for elevating our sushi experience! All the ingredients seemed so well chosen, and simply their arrangement was something we admired. For dessert, we tried the flan and it unexpectedly was one of the best desserts I've ever tried! It's sweetness from the fruity yuzu and caramel meshed so well together, I really could've eaten so much more. Lastly, we tried a couple cocktails, all of which were tasty, but especially the one with a lychee meringue topping! To wrap up, I highly recommend those in the area near prudential to pay a visit to this restaurant if you are looking for an upscale dining experience with great food. I am looking forward to returning!

Excellent. Sat at the bar, quiet setting. Service was great at the bar. Ordered wagyu by the ounce. 2-4 oz per person was just right. 10 seconds per side on the stone, done. The spices provided were salt , garlic and sumak. A hint of sumak made each piece perfect.

Second time dining at Uni. Reminder that Uni serves tapas style plates and sushi. You are encouraged to order 3 to 5 items per person. Honestly I went back for the fried chicken Bao Buns. They are so good! I could eat 10 of them! Other items that would make me want to return are the Kurobuta Spare Ribs and the Wagyu Beef Dumplings. Items that were not as successful for my palette were the Chow Fun Noodles (too salty), the California Roll (do I taste coconut?), the Squash Miso Black Cod (perfectly cooked fish, but the flavors didn't mesh well), The big FAIL was a cocktail. The Ankle Breaker was disgusting. It's herbal, salty with a puddle of Thai basil oil floating in it. I expected Thai basil infused gin, not oil. Oh it was just awful! Our waitperson (who was Wonderful - shout out to Sean!) swapped it out for the "C", which was delicious! The dining room filled up quickly and it was quite loud. Diners included families with young children (although I would not recommend Uni for children), Millennial, Gen X and Boomer couples, Gen Z girls night out, hipsters, intellectuals, students...well Everybody! There's something for everyone at Uni. Just expect a large bill. Uni is rather expensive.

Uni has a special omakase menu every Thursday with only 4 seats with Chef Takeishi. This is much more traditional than the regular menu or tasting menu. He shares his passion about each dish that comes out. He talked in detail about the different types of fish of the menu, the sourcing, and many other details. He absolutely adds to the experience!  The meal was incredible. I had several species of fish Ive never seen before. Each dish has minimal ingredients. Just enough to elevate the flavors of the fish. Some amazing soups, and awesome desserts.   Service was also attentive and friendly.  I highly suggest you give this place a try, in particular the omakase menu, where you have to reserve ahead of time :(

It was adequately busy but still had seats open. The lunch menu is very affordable! If you can, I'd highly recommend going for lunch instead of dinner. Service was really quick! Received my meal in like 5-7 mins after ordering. Fish was super fresh and I really liked the different textures in the Hoseki Don. I also added in negitoro. They gave me a big clump of it! The second time I went back, I ordered take out so I could eat it at the airport for dinner. I ordered the Sake Maguro Hamachi don, added ikura and negitoro. Again, so impressed with the quality of the fish and the size of it. They didn't skimp out and really enjoyed the thickness of the sashimi despite it only being 3 pieces. It was a very satiating bowl. Cant wait to come back next time again!

Whether you're here for high-end sushi, creative small plates, or comforting kitchen dishes, everything is executed at a very high level. We ordered a massive spread, and almost every single dish was a hit. The Raw Bar & Sushi: * Oysters: These were 10/10. Incredibly fresh, perfectly halved, and meticulously cleaned--not a single piece of shell in sight. We loved them so much we had to go for a second round. * 8pc Omakase & 6pc Aburi Set: Both sets were fantastic. The Aburi (torched) set is a must-try for that smoky melt-in-your-mouth texture. * Uni Nigiri: Even my wife, who usually avoids raw fish, was won over by how creamy and fresh the Uni was. * Tuna Tataki: This was the only "just okay" dish for me. It had good flavor, but I think it would have been elevated with some shredded daikon and a colder temperature. Kitchen & Family Favorites: * Foie Gras Appetizer: Rich, decadent, and a perfect way to start the meal. * Sea Bass: My son absolutely loved this; he finished the entire portion with rice. * Snow Crab Roll: An excellent option for those who prefer cooked rolls. * Tonkotsu Ramen: We finished off the meal with a hot bowl of ramen, which was the perfect savory "topper" to a great dinner. The Experience: The service is efficient and the wait times for food were surprisingly short given how much we ordered. One of the biggest takeaways was the value. The pricing is very fair for this level of quality; back home in Nashville, a meal like this would have easily cost significantly more. The Verdict: While I would love to see a few more small, refreshing salad dishes on the menu to balance out the richness, I left extremely happy. This is a top-tier dining experience and a definite "must-visit" whenever I'm back in town!

XO Seafood Udon: The restaurant specifically labeled it "wok-tossed," and it truly had a wonderful wok-hei鑊氣 (wok aroma), with an irresistible fragrance as soon as it arrived at the table. The XO sauce was extremely rich, sweet and umami, and the udon noodles were soft on the outside and bouncy on the inside; the sauce was glossy, smooth, but not greasy, allowing it to coat the noodles evenly and infuse them with flavor. The shrimp, squid, and scallops were all fresh and large, making for a very satisfying meal. The shrimp, in particular, were coated with a thin layer of starch before being pan-fried, adding layers of texture and locking in the juices. This plate removed the scallions and onions to suit my taste, and if you like spicy food, adding a little chili oil would greatly enhance the flavor. The restaurant had an elegant and refined ambiance, and the service was attentive, making it a very relaxing place.

When I made the reservation online I put that the occasion it was for was my birthday- I notice that most restaurants don't pay attention to this on OpenTable, but Fuji definitely did! We were seated quickly and with no issue at all, despite it being pretty crowded. The vibe was intimate and classy- a great spot for date night, or for dinner with your parents. At our table was a card (in the pictures) which was such a nice touch and was a great start to the meal. Our waitress was awesome, and it seemed like there was a floor manager too that was making sure everyone was happy. It felt like the staff truly cared and wanted to make sure everyone was having a good time and experience. Our waitress checked in on us multiple times, and was very helpful with the menu. Speaking of the menu, I was very pleased to see the amount of vegetarian dishes! You don't see that often at Japanese restaurants! For our appetizers we got the lobster Rangoon and spicy edamame. Technically the tofu is an app but you would never guess that from the portion size. The edamame were outstanding! They were spicy as expected and were so tasty. We demolished the whole bowl. The Rangoons were also amazing- the chunks of lobster were divine. I myself love lobster and crab Rangoons, so a combo?! Amazing. Both the edamame and lobster Rangoons are can't misses. For our entrees/ mains we got the crispy soy noodles, miss Waldorf roll, sweet potato roll, tofu, and fried rice. The miss Waldorf roll is amazing, and I can not wait to go back and get more sushi. Truly the best sushi I have had in boston. There are other upscale sushi restaurants I have been to that charge a pretty penny but taste like grocery store sushi. Fuji is not one of those- it was truly exceptional sushi. The sweet potato roll was also delicious! I am very picky about my sweet potato rolls and had one that I have dreamt about since I had it in 2022. I have finally found a sweet potato roll that matches my standards. The crispy soy noodles were also amazing! They reminded e of one of my favorite restaurants when I was a kid and it filled me with such joy to eat something with that flavor. The serving size was pretty big too, and they were not shy on the shrimp! Note though, they were a tad oily (I added a little bit of soy sauce to balance it out). The fried rice was also very good and tasted like a good bowl of comfort fried rice. My parents ate it with the tofu and liked it! The only dish I would want some change in is the tofu- it wasn't bad but compared to the other dishes it definitely lacked the flavor punch you get in the rest of the dishes. The sauce was okay with it. After dinner our waitress brought a slice of vanilla crepe cake and ice cream! This was such a nice touch and it was SO good!!!!! It was the first time I ever had crepe cake but I loved it! I'm not sure if they have a dessert menu or not (we weren't asked if we wanted to see one) but I would love to go back and get that cake again! Overall I am beyond happy that I picked this spot for my birthday- I had an amazing experience and amazing food. Will definitely be back!

When we walked into Legal, the place was dead, the music was awful, and the vibe was just not there. So we sat at the bar and grabbed a drink while searching for a place to get an actual dinner where we could find last-minute reservations. Shojo in Chinatown came up with great reviews and after looking at the menu and seeing that we could get a reservation, we headed over. It was a short walk from the Ritz and Chinatown is just such a fun place with great energy. When we walked in, we knew we had made the right call and were easily able to switch our reservation from a table to bar seats, which is always an added bonus. The place is low lit and the music is on the louder side, but nothing was excessive to the point that we didn't enjoy our time there. We ordered a variety of drinks while there - a Toki Highball draft, a spicy tequila drink with lemongrass, a few different types of Japanese whiskeys as well (they have a really extensive list). As far as food goes, they categorize their menu into Snacks, Baos, and Rice, Noodles, and Dumplings. There's a lot of vegetarian friendly options, which is always a plus for me. My highlights were the 7 vegetable stir fry, fried eggplant bao, edamame dumplings, and the Thai veggie spring rolls. The salt and pepper calamari was also really great. Everything was terrific and really unique. Service was good - not great, but they took notice of empty glasses and were quick to bring out food, so I have absolutely no complaints. Shojo is somewhere I'd absolutely return to when staying in the area, I'm really happy we all turned what would have been a very touristy, depressing experience into something with a WAY better vibe and time!
