I am so glad I got the chance to try this black-owned establishment in Downtown Bridgeport. There's not many places like this in the area that make upscale Caribbean cuisine, and R &T does it well! They also have a live DJ set up. Another bonus -- if you check in on Yelp you get $5 off your order! The staff here are extremely friendly! One of our servers even went above and beyond to offer me some non-alcoholic rosé which was pretty cool since I wasn't drinking. I really enjoyed my food here! Firstly the portions they give are massive. I had plenty of food to take home for the next day. The Rasta pasta was spot on, as well as the jerk chicken! The henny wings are also very tasty. R&T loses points for their covid safety protocols. The reason I'm being generous with the stars is because the customer service and food were both really exceptional. While dining, guests are able to see through the kitchen. I noticed one of the chefs who prepared food had his mask off the entire time, and was talking (which I presume over people's food). Almost a year into a pandemic, this is flat out unacceptable. It wasn't until we were getting ready to leave when I noticed he finally put a mask on. I hope that the management reads this and makes changes in enforcing safer protocols.

My first experience here was absolutely amazing!!! The ambiance was lovely. Customer service was on point!! As I entered I was immediately greeted. My waiter/bartender (I sat at the bar) JC was so friendly and made delicious, tasty creative drinks that catered to my preferences. I met the owner Carla, absolutely BEAUTIFUL spirit!! Her vibe was so welcoming!! I am definitely going to be a regular patron even though I live in NYC.. LOL! THE FOOD???!!! OMG!!! that's all I can say. OMG!!!! I can't wait to return to try more stuff on the menu. I went on a Monday, they said it was Karaoke night but I couldn't stay. For one my phone was dying and secondly those drinks JC was making me... smh I needed to get out of there before the liquor bust up my head.. lol Like I said I can't wait to return. Keep up the good work Rum N Tequila. That chef is about to be my boyfriend.. LOL!!!

Good little spot in downtown. It was a hot day. We stopped here for some food and to wine down after an afternoon at the winery. I did get the shrimp tostones recommended by the waitress. Mouthwatering Def would recommend. I also tried the lemon pepper wings to go; I wasn't too impressed. Overall, good choice for us.

My friends and I wanted to hangout on a Friday night. So I went on Yelp and started to search. I came across Rum & Tequilla and we all agreed to give it a try. Although, I never heard of this place before it was not a disappointment. I ordered the Jerk Pork with rice and peas, I also had a side of wings everything was great. the music was good and there was a nice vibe. Happy Hour deals are great and the margaritas hit the spot! Definitely will be going back.

Rice with hint of oxtails Oxtails

I love good quality food. I recently have been eating a lot of oxtails from various restaurants including cooking at home. I had an opportunity to visit this restaurant and I am going to add in the response for both meals that were ordered. We ordered the red snapper fish and oxtails. The red snapper is not scene above but I asked the person eating it, what would you rate the quality of food and he gave me a one. Now back to the oxtails, when I opened the large tin pan and saw the rice immediately, coupled with the salad and sample size oxtails. Let me be very clear I had exactly 6 oxtails, if you include the tiny one. I took a picture of the bones too but I thought that might be too much for this review. I had to pour this on a plate because I could not believe that they gave you an entire pan full of rice that was more than enough to feed two or three people but yet only gave you five oxtails and a tiny one that the bone was bigger than the meat. Maybe they didn't realize you paid $18 for a pan of rice. I am terribly disappointed! Quality of taste: I was expecting it to be really good since year prices were so high and you were giving so little, normally it will be compensated by a great quality of taste. Well, that was not the case! It was edible but not very good. Maybe I should put it in the general category, it wasn't something that you couldn't eat, but it's not anything you will go back to eat again. In Covid times it's imperative that you greet people with mask on, I don't know if they forgot that we are in the middle of a pandemic or what. but I was expecting the greeters to have a mask. The restaurant looks nice. My friend said that the snapper, smelled very good, but it was extremely salty, too much seasoning salt. The size of the fish was not very big, Grill II quality of food was much better and much larger. It's entirely up to you to try out this restaurant but I don't believe I will be going back. I love to enjoy good quality food at whatever cost but I want it to be worth it.

My second time dining at 29 Markle Court yesterday! When…read morefirst I was introduced to this restaurant: an impromptu visit with a group, and we shared small plates, family style. It was delicious! This time, I reserved a table for four, including guests who were up to an adventurous evening. The place was hopping! A Friday evening fun atmosphere and a beautiful bar that reminded me of a Paris restaurant. We were seated at a great table with banquettes in a corner of the front dining room. Our waitperson was excellent- energetic, informed of the menu, friendly & interactive, I believe her name was Shamira. We received great recommendations for dishes on the menu accommodating certain preferences. Following Cocktails - from the usual order of Scotch, to the " Crimson" spicy, indeed. The "Wanderer" imbiber said she could sip them all night. I, being mostly just a wine drinker, ordered from the "unusual wines" - a delicious white wine from Languedoc named "Picpoul De Pinet, Feline Jourdan", which paired very well with both courses. Based on my enthusiasm we all shared a bottle with our Main Course! Total alignment. We shared Caesar salads, which were excellent. Everyone enjoyed their selection of a main course: Halibut with corn risotto, Shrimp & Grits with spicy red sauce (just right spicy), My dish was Mussels in ginger & lemongrass red Curry, paired with grilled bread for soaking up that sauce, Yum!; a Whole Red Snapper with Mole sauce for my husband - most adventurous diner of the evening! We stretched ourselves to order two desserts: Crème Brûlée and Goat Cheesecake! Sublime. On departing the Restaurant, we were thanked for dining by the Proprietor, Wesley. We had an inspiring conversation about Bridgeport's future. A memorable evening.

Drinks first: my slightly dirty martini was made exactly right. My friend went with cosmo and it was equally on point. Whoever is behind that bar has their act together. Then the food happened. We started with grilled bread with an EVOO, agave, and chile dip -- sounds simple, ate like a statement. The char on the bread, the heat and sweetness of that dip. Good sign of things to come. Main event: shrimp and grits. Guinea flint grits, spicy red sauce, sage, stock. I don't say this lightly -- this is one of the best things I've eaten in a long time. The grits were creamy and rich, the sauce had real depth and heat, and the shrimp were perfectly cooked. The whole bowl just worked on every level. Dessert: goat cheesecake with pistachio dust and berry compote. Tangy, creamy, not too sweet, and that pistachio dust on top was a perfect finish. We cleared the plate.

It was definitely not crowded. Sparse for a weekend evening. That wasn't a good sign. After sitting at the bar we waited for a bartender. We kept waiting. Finally one came. The drinks are okay but kind of high priced. It's $7 for a well cocktail. The wines are priced ridiculously. Looking over the food menu we became disappointed with the choices. The food is very expensive and it's not even anything exquisite. Pretty much no vegan choices. The menu is mostly fried stuff. After all this had transpired we decided to be finished. It has some good liquor. This is way overpriced and so is the greasy food which is too much for the poor quality unfortunately.

Haitian food requires a lot of time, love and effort so it's nice to be able to pick something up when you don't feel like spending hours in the kitchen. Being from NY, I am definitely spoiled with Haitian culture and cuisine! But I was pleasantly surprised to learn of the Haitian community in Fairfield county. The owners at Metric are such a delight. I believe the restaurant has been here for 20 years. The husband Pierre is originally from the L'Artibonite region in Haiti where my family is from. And our region is known for our delicious rice and fresh produce that is the heart of the country's cuisine. His wife Eve is not only stunning but she makes great drinks as well. I ordered the legim (vegetable stew) with diri kole (rice and beans) and banan peze (fried green plantains/ tostones). The portions were generous, but most importantly, the food was very good. Everything was so fresh, made to order and many of their ingredients come from the Bridgeport community garden. The legim contained the eggplant that a community member brought in just an hour before. And the fried okra that we sampled came from there as well. The familiar sound of kompa was music to my ears. Pierre even gave my husband some samples of tassot (fried turkey). If you're Haitian or familiar with Haitian cuisine, ask for dishes even if you don't see them on the menu, they can accommodate you. It was also heartwarming to see the non-Haitian regulars enjoying our food and culture. They make American dishes like pizza, but when you come to a Haitian restaurant, you come for authentic Haitian food and I believe they do that well. Haitian food is not fast food so prepare for that. We enjoyed the family vibe and were in chill mode. The hospitality alone would make me come back.
