Veggie Tofu Bowl & Sweet Potato Fries

Hawaiian Tropical Fast Casual Restaurant Such a great place to stop at for fresh and filling food! I got a veggie tofu bowl with sweet potato fries! Great place if you're vegetarian or vegan! They can accommodate for your diet :)

Whenever my sweet mother comes to visit me, we bond over a lunch date. Because of this, certain food has always held special places in my heart--and Rumbi's is no exception! We walked in and ordered the chicken rice bowl, they were cooking some up fresh so we had to wait about 10 minutes. However, it was so very worth it! Get it with the "Rumbi Rice" and brace yourself for an explosion of taste. My mother got the Fish Tacos, and let me say that they were incredible as well. I honestly don't know if it's the fact that I'm a poor, starving, college student and everything always tastes great--or it was quality food. But either way, I'm telling you to try both. The atmosphere is fun. They had a television in the corner that was playing Frozen, so I channeled my inner Elsa whilst inhaling chicken and rice. That movie was very appropriate as well, seeing as it was like the freakin' arctic in there. If you read my reviews you should know by now that I am constantly freezing and almost every restaurant I go to is icy cold. So BRING A COAT--I honestly felt like Arendelle had "Frozen" over and Rumbi's had been brought along for the ride. There is also real silverware for you to eat with--they always have some "hard water spots" on them, but that just means they really do wash them, right? TIPS & TRICKS: * I attached some photos, so check out the daily specials (the Rumbi fries are half off if you go between 2 and 6 everyday)! * I would really recommend the sweet potato fries too, mmmmm.

a menu for a bowl of noodles

The Logan location changed its menu. Now you pay ala Carte for everything. The menu claims you get "saucy" but you only get a tiny soufflé cup of sauce. Want more sauce after you dig in? 54 cents sir. Dryest rice bowl ever. Manager just kept saying call corporate because they don't empower employees to think for themselves. A large rice bowl need more than a soufflé cup of sauce. Crap new menu. Seating sucks and tables were dirty. I had to leave my meal because I couldn't get more sauce. I wasn't breaking out the credit card for 54 cents.

The Resteraunt is cute, great food, friendly.

The address is wrong on this yelp. Rumbi is located farther south by the Walmart. But our tastebuds and keen sense of smell lead us right to this Hawaiian-style hotspot. We met our cute college girls here for a family dinner. We knew we needed some big eaters, as the plates are quite large and the serving sizes aren't for the weak bellied ;) We shared 2 orders of Hawaiian teriyaki chicken bowl and a cabo fish taco. We also needed 2 orders of rumbi fries (a delicious mix of sweet taters and originals). Be sure to get the side of special pink sauce for dipping. Our food arrived and was excellent. Service was great but it was SO cold in the dining room! We had to hurry our meal and our conversation. Brrrr. The meal was served with rumbi rice which is a mixture of coconut rice and black beans. The chicken was tasty and veggies were fresh and cook to perfection. Be sure to use the extra teriyaki sauce for added flavor and moistness. The winner of the night, was the fish tacos! The fish was cooked to perfection and wrapped in corn shells topped with special sauce and covered in chunky tomato salsa. I will be returning for more tacos here!! Nailed it !! Hints and tips-- Bring a jacket, scarf and boots! Dress warm and in layers so you can be comfy :) Bring friends to share your meal. Large portions or get it ToGo for lunch tomorrow!

LoLo Hawaiian BBQ - Two Meat Mix and Macaroni salad two scoops upon arrival

I've been curious about LoLo Hawaiian BBQ every since it opened. I especially was curious about…read moretheir macaroni salad and trying it. Well.... I went with their Two Meat Mix and requested Island Fire Chicken and Hawaiian BBQ beef. I forwent the rice and fresh mixed salad side and opted for two macaroni salad scoops (the second one being at an additional fee). I also requested Spicy Mayo and Katsu Sauce as the two included side sauce choices. First, the best part. The Island Fire Chicken was spiced perfectly (very spicy) and also was very tender chicken. The grilled onions mixed in really brought it all together. A 10 out of a 10! The Hawaiian BBQ Beef was absolutely delicious as well. Very tender cuts of beef on a bed of cabbage that really was only about three pieces. The cabbage was absolutely delicious and I wish there was more or a way to forgo one of the sides for just a side of the cabbage alone. It REALLY was THAT GOOD! I also appreciated that the Hawaiian BBQ Beef showed up naked without being drenched in sauce so I could really taste the flavor of the beef and enjoy each bite. For those curious, with the Two Meat Mix the Island Fire Chicken comes in at 6 oz with the Hawaiian BBQ Beef at 5 oz. Not quite sure on portion sizes for the other offerings. Ok, now the worst part (and the one that I was looking most forward to). The macaroni salad was anything BUT creamy! It was the absolute worst macaroni salad that I've ever tasted. There was no flavor. No spice. Not even a hint of mayonnaise flavoring. It might as well been cardboard. I've honestly tasted plain macaroni boiling in a pot with more flavor! I have absolutely no idea if this is typical of this restaurant but it will definitely keep me hesitant on going back there unless they offer a cabbage side or something else. I eat a lot of Sushi, so I definitely don't need a rice side. In regards to fresh mixed salads, I've found them to be major disappoints in regards to restaurants and fast food, etc. but I cannot speak for this place as I haven't tried one. Alas, the side sauces were both filled to the brim. The Spicy Mayo definitely was thick and consistent flavor wise. Katsu also has a thicker consistency with more sweet than spicy flavors. Both were great though. The portion sizes were decent for the price and the meat is definitely worth a visit if nothing else! Just stay away from the macaroni salad unless you prefer absolutely no flavor.

Tons of carbs and sugars and who knows what toxic seed oils are in the salad dressing…read more If your into those dietary choices it's a lot of food for the money. Clean and very fast food.
