Rumble is really nice. Punching a bag is a super fun workout. The room is dark, large, and clean. You do two rounds with the punching bag and two rounds on the floor, doing weights or bodyweight exercises. They have a variety of weights, and you get your own bench with an alcove for the boxing gloves. I'm obsessed with how nice the facility is. I first tried the BOGO rumble session which I loved for a first time boxer. When you check in they tell you which bag ask if you need gloves or wraps. They also guide you about the lockers situation which is up and downstairs. Wow! I had never been to a boxing workout before so did not know what to expect. I was blown away! I came to Rumble at an off time on a Sunday. Even though it was a relatively small class, the instructor did a great job at keeping the energy high and spreading good vibes throughout the entire class. I'd only been to Rumble's Upper East Side location prior to this class, and the studios are relatively the same. The locker rooms were clean and had towels to use during class as well as for showers, plus some products to help you freshen up after class. If you've ever taken a Rumble class you know the deal -- it's 10 rounds, half the time you spend hitting the bag and the other half is on the bench with weights. First time at a boxing hit class and it was a work out! Location is on 23rd close to multiple train options. Clean prettier venue with set times and variety locker space. One main hall for group class. This was a special event my session for cinco de mayo. Apon entering, check in or schedule a session. The locker room is basement level and limited. Gloves, towels, and shower products are available for use. You can reset locker codes for available lockers. The music during the hit class was motivating and the owner/trainer had high energy and talked to us about his company history. We came as a big group of 7 to celebrate one of our friend's birthday on a Saturday and Rumble was able to accomodate in the same area, starting at the bags together. The instructor was amazing as he teaches you the boxing moves if you are a beginner. I love that because I've been to other boxing gyms and there isn't much instructions for beginners and it's easy to get lost. The instructor helped me by holding onto the bag and taught me the jab, cross, jab, jab, cross and dodge move. The cardio/weight training rounds were really intense as well but I loved it! I do wish there was more space since a lot of us in our group were really tall. The faculty is a little older but I love that there is someone servicing the areas to maintain cleaniness. This was my very first experience boxing, and I totally loved it. It was such a fun and dynamic class. The atmosphere is very hype here, and it feels like you're in a club, with throbbing music, playful lights, the dark aura, and with the instructor almost acting like a DJ in the middle of the studio. The music is very recent and fitting, albeit loud. Loud enough that even if you scream in pain, the person next to you won't hear. It'll be super dark in the studio, so don't be afraid of anyone judging your amateur throws. You'll still be able to see the instructor though as he's standing on a platform in the center. They use ultraviolet lights, which makes white things glow in the dark, such as the towels, your teeth, white socks, etc. That was a pleasant surprise to see while working out. The instructor I had (Miles) really helped to create and maintain the hype and energy in the class. He wears a mic and introduces each new round by first demonstrating and then having you practice on your own for the round. He'll sometimes come around and help you if he sees you struggling. For the actual class, there are 10 rounds of exercises. Half boxing, half strength exercises. You go back and forth from the benches to the bags. You'll get a number when you first come in, which will be your position in the class. The bags and benches are all numbered clearly, either on the floor or the bench. The bags they have are the aqua bags, which are really wide and heavy. Even when I'm punching repeatedly, they're pretty set in place and don't swing around that much. The benches are well arranged and organized. There's about 5 sets of different weights under the bench. There's also a little storage area where you can put your gloves while you do your strength training. Overhead the bench area, there's a film-like screen where each new round and set of exercises are displayed, while the instructor is introducing it. So in case you forget the exercises, you can always look up to see which exercise is next because the instructor doesn't do the counts altogether. Everyone does them individually and at their own pace. A random detail I noticed was that only after the workout did they turn the fans on for us to relax and cool down. Aside from the class, the place, in general, is very clean and organized. As for the locker room area, I imagine this would be what a luxury gym would look like. It's spacious with enough seating and lockers spaced throughout the whole area. There's 4 showers and 2 bathrooms. Plenty of clean towels (big and small) for you to use. There's hairdryers if you wanna wash and dry your hair there. Body lotion. Face wash. Dry shampoo. Hairspray. Hair combs. Razors. Yada yada, you get the point. It's probably one of the smallest in the NYC area. I know they can't do anything about the actual square footage but the cleanliness can improve. I first heard of Rumble Boxing through their Samsung 837 event. Andy Stern taught that class and I had so much fun... I came back for more! Since then, I've taken class with Kory, Noah and Julia. Each of them have been amazing also! Every trainer has their own playlist, but it always gets you into the zone and ready to kill your workout. Everyone's so friendly - from the time you walk through the door to when you meet the trainer. There are wraps for purchase (which you keep) and gloves to rent. There are towels you can borrow during class, so they have you covered on all the essentials. During the class, you'll have a place for your gloves, towel and drink under the benches so it's out of the way. You'll get a number and start either on the floor or bag side. You keep the same number when you switch sides. I love that they dim the lights during the class so you go at your own pace or go all out! These classes are like no other class I've taken... you'll get such a good sweat, you're going to want to shower. They have all the amenities for that too from mouthwash to dry shampoo and deodorant. I feel a lot like one of those old timey cartoons shouting "put em up!" with my fists held up and weight shifting awkwardly from foot to foot when I'm boxing. Clearly I don't really know what I'm doing, but that's okay. You're not made to feel like a noob in these parts. It's just about getting your sweat on while your adrenaline kicks in on overdrive at Rumble. The music is loud, the workout is tough, and the energy in the room is palpable. It's something I can't get working out alone at the gym. I'm used to circuit style workouts, including one at another boxing gym, Everybody Fights. Rumble's format is more like the one at Barry's, Orange Theory, or Rowgatta where you switch from strength training on the bench to your main workout on the floor. You get to know your heavy bag really well as you punch your way through class. The bench workout consists of chest presses, crunches, squats, and plank jacks. There are a few qualms I had with my workout here. There's a part of the workout where you sit beneath the bag and lightly punch the bag as you come up into a sit up. This part of the workout didn't seem well thought out at all, and I can't be sure if I even did that movement correctly because there was little to no form correction throughout class. The gloves they provide are clean and don't leave your fingers smelling like sweat like at some other boxing gyms. Wraps/gloves are required, and the ones they sell for $5 bucks are 2 in 1 and are pretty great. I'd love to do this workout with friends, looking just like baby Scooby Doo unthreateningly punching the air. read more

I never thought I would love a boxing workout. I'm a barre girl because I like the slower pace, but there's something to be said about punching the heavy bags with all you've got. It's really cathartic. Especially if you've had a rough go on Bumble like myself. :oP I've taken a few classes with Keisha Saddler. She rocks at it. She's really energizing and encouraging and keeps us all moving throughout the class. Her weekday classes are when I'm at work but I always try to sign up for her Saturday evening class, lately it's been at 5pm. The studio is really nice. You'll checkin at the front desk. If it's your first time, you'll need to buy wraps which they sell for $6 which you can reuse for future classes. You'll also need to rent gloves for $3 if you don't have your own. There are a ton of lockers. The ones to the right side have wall plugs so you can charge your phone while you work out. I've never seen that at a gym before, and it's genius. There is a filtered water filling station on the same level as well. The locker rooms and studio are downstairs. The locker rooms are nice, with showers with glass doors instead of flimsy curtains. They have a lot of products available to clean yourself up after class as well. They even have combs and ponytail holders in case you need one. You'll get assigned to a number and swap from the bag side to floor side for each half of the workout. At the beginning of each class, they review the 6 punches you'll be using throughout the bag side of the workout. Both the floor and bag workouts are projected onto the walls which is great, because I'm super forgetful. And the whole workout keeps your heart rate going and you're constantly moving, but the class goes fast and before you know it, you're done. They also have a location in NoHo but I haven't been there yet. They have a first time offer of buy one class for $34, get one free. You really can't beat that. It'd been way too long since my last boxing class, so when a friend of mine told me she was in town, I figured it was the perfect way to kick off our weekend together. We signed up for the 2 for 1 deal ($36 for 2 classes). It was both of our first times at Rumble. Our instructor, Terry, was super energetic and served as an excellent instructor (+ DJ). The 60-minute Challenge class had us alternating between time on the bag and time on the bench for weight training. We went through 12ish rounds of work and were dripping by the time the hour was up. One thing I wish we had was 1:1 instruction. At my old boxing gym, the instructors would walk around the studio to correct our form and/or encourage us to pick up the speed if we were getting tired. We also had opportunities to hit with the instructors and learned how to transition quickly between offense and defense. Nevertheless, if you're just looking for a place to get your sweat on, Rumble could be it. The studio also has plenty of lockers and showers (with amenities!) so you can freshen up post-workout. I really appreciated that the showers were fully stocked (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, face wash, cotton swabs, combs, feminine products, hair dryers). Not having to bring my own shower stuff was really convenient. Note: There is a Rumble Training location on the same street as the Boxing studio, so make sure you check twice before you wander in! read more

Rumble is so much fun!!! It's a really fun activity to do with a group - I did it twice with my team at work. It would also be a fun date workout. It is split into two halves, the boxing section and the circuits section. The boxing section is a bunch of combinations of jabs and hooks and punches and really fun, especially with the massive boxing gloves etc. The circuits are always good combos of dumbbell and body weight movements like squats or burpees. My only complaint is it's REALLY expensive. Even buying in packages is still really expensive. I belong to a Crossfit gym for significantly lower and I feel you get a way better workout there with way more individual attention from the coach, which is not something you get much of at Rumble. On top of the class rate, glove rental/wraps if you need them add up (but why would I buy my own gloves if I'm a casual boxer and not going all the time?) Rumble is SO much fun that it's worth checking out once in a while, but I'd mostly only go with work or a client or someone else paying for it to be honest. read more

Rumble is my new favorite workout. I am so glad that NYC has let gyms open at a higher capacity and sans mask if you are vaccinated because that really does make cardio easier for me. I find these workouts to be very cathartic and really all about what you put into. It's great to be able to switch from the bags to the benches and mix up the work out while in the studio. I've had three different instructors so far and it truly is hard for me to pick a favorite. Bobbie Jo was a bit more creative which I enjoyed. The studio itself is always clean and bright with friendly staff throughout. They are quick to get people checked in and gloves/water/etc. if its needed. There are SO MANY lockers - so there really is never not enough between the main floor and the downstairs locker rooms with showers and toilets. I hadn't been here at this location or any location since May of 2019, and I was a little nervous trying it out again during the pandemic but all that went away as soon as I walked in. Ellie and Erin were absolutely amazing at their customer service and provided such ease when explaining all their precautions taken during this pandemic. There's a hand sanitizer machine and (very cool) high tech thermometer you have to place your head within a figure so it can take your temperature! Social distancing is very clearly incorporated throughout the whole studio. It's honestly like nothing has changed, which is the point! Just took my first class with Joe and I'm already hooked. The music is great and the workout is intense but they also offer modifications if something is too challenging. The workouts are posted above the mirrors if you're having trouble seeing or hearing the instructor. It was super helpful during the floor exercises to remember what was next and how many reps. Make sure to take a look at where your bag or floor spot is before class for the switches in class as the bag and floor areas don't have the same layout. What a fun workout! I have been twice when I am visiting New York and I really love the variety and the challenge. The music is always fantastic and it feels like a club atmosphere. I find these classes are easy to follow compared to other boxing classes because of the technology where you can look at the sets in the room on the screen. Erika and Beth are great instructors and I've heard they're bringing Rumble to DC where I live. Have been itching to try a class here for months now and it did not disappoint! I've been going to Barry's and SoulCycle forever now and while I still love working out at these places more than ever, I really wanted to try all the fitness studio options that are here in this city! I've never actually boxed before so I was a little apprehensive, but I knew enough about making sure to find the right form and technique to make it a quality class. Signing in and everything was great, the front desk was awesome at setting me up and explaining the workout in more detail for me. I was originally supposed to start on the floor side, but I was told that the whole class would be starting on the bags first. Due to this change, I was assigned a spot where it would be hard to see the instructor, but the staff was so great and helped me switch to a different spot! Our instructor, Danielle, was amazing at pumping us up and giving great directions throughout. I had a great workout and while I haven't totally mastered the right form yet, I'll definitely be back to work on that! She was so friendly and helpful with everyone who came up to her after class, including me, so that was another great part of the experience. I picked up a rumble juice on the way out and it was also great as well! The studio is really spacious and the retail looked bomb, which I'm always here for. This was a great investment for equinox... it's a Mix of Barry's bootcamp except instead of a treadmill you get to punch a bag(without technique). I kept looking around to see if someone was going to get injured during the strength session (I met a few people who did). It's Dangerous and irresponsible to do this, and The benefit will again be to the physical therapy community, who keeps getting people from Barry's, Rumble and other places... is it a good workout? I prefer taking Boxing with my favorite Equinox teachers, and separate strength. You'll burn calories, but Cardio just does that, it won't build lean mass and the Risks of injury is high. read more

Only giving it 3 stars mostly because it's not really my cup of tea, but it may be for others. If you're looking for a good general cardio workout than this is the place for you. Mimics many of the "trendy" boxing gyms that are around the city. (dim lighting/loud music/enthusiastic trainers) If you're looking for a technical boxing gym this is not the place to go. It's more catered towards fun fitness, but I personally am not a huge fan of gyms that don't emphasize technique. Much more difficult to unlearn bad habits than it would be learning proper techniques off the start. I get it though, they're trying to jam pack an upbeat class within an hour. Trainers are enthusiastic and fit, but actual boxing experience is questionable. Again, nothing against the gym and I still plan on utilizing the bogo deal for first timers, but once that's over I'll stick to other traditional gyms/academies for boxing. Price point: super expensive! 30 classes for $850. Go to a legit boxing or kickboxing gym, pay less than $200 a month unlimited classes a day and 6 days a week with world renowned fighters. read more

Came to NY for a weekend trip and just had to check out Rumble to see what the hype was about. I've been doing boxing classes back home in DC, so this is what I'll be comparing it to. Now to be fair, you should kind of have an idea of what Rumble is before you go and potentially be disappointed. It's a fun, cardio and weight-based group fitness class with elements of boxing. It's definitely NOT a class where you focus or boxing form, technique, tons of combos, defense, etc. I had a great time during the two classes that I took and can say that it is a really great workout. Although I had hoped for more bag time/punching, I did appreciate the ass kicking with the weights. Can't imagine anyone not being exhausted after a class... and if so, they probably weren't giving it their all. So what did I really like about Rumble? The trainers enthusiasm, nice facilities and lockers, overall cool concept and water bags (great for upper cuts!). What didn't I like? Generally overpriced for what it is (but expected with a new craze in NY) and at times it felt rushed when the instructors explained things. I noticed that there were quite a few lost newbies looking at their neighbors to follow along haha. Final thoughts- I'd go back to break up my usual boxing classes (which is more focused on form, heavy bag training, defense, etc). It was very fun, a great workout, and the people are great. It won't turn you into an amateur boxer or anything, but you'll for sure learn a thing or two about throwing a proper punch. Side note- for any new folks please don't be intimidated by the people that flock to rumble. You'll see those IG "models", people with full make up on (seriously), and wearing the most expensive athletic gear that you can imagine... yet many of these same people will be burned out within the first half of the class. The most all encompassing workout. I had briefly tried boxing at other studios, but this is the best experience I've had. I'm still new, so I appreciated that the workouts are projected onto the walls. You either start on the floor or at a bag and you alternate twice between the two spots. I felt like every position had a decent view of the instructor's platform. On the floor, you'll do conditioning like jump squats, weights, burpees, etc, it can be very challenging. At the bags, you do combos and boxer sit ups. It's an intense experience that will definitely keep you sore going into the next few days. Although this place is trendy and isn't a traditional boxing class - I definitely think it lives up to the hype. It's a fun, fast paced class that will keep you coming back for more. The staff was very welcoming upon my arrival for my first class. They offered me to purchase either gloves or hand wraps. Purchased the hand wraps the first time around and neither the second (bought my own). As far as the class is concerned, it's life changing. Upbeat music is played throughout the entire duration of class. The class is separated into two halves; punching bags vs benches. Both sides gets two opportunities to switch in order to experience a different workout. Rumble boxing is opening in Livingston NJ. But my wife and I wanted to try it out now. So my wife and I went to Chelsea/Flatiron to take a class at noon on a Friday. We took Noah. The class was intense and a great workout. We worked out on the bag. Than floor exercises. Than back to bag. I used to work and take CKO. This is nothing like it. This is scripted but more intense. Xponential Fitness bought this brand in 2021 to add to their other brands. All the Rumble locations in NYC are corporate owned while those coming to NJ are franchises. I work for a different Xponential brand. Rumble needs a better new client experience. And this location needs more merchandise to purchase. My wife and I purchased a sweatshirt and shirt, respectively. There is a parking garage right next door. I recommend you get the app and prepay for parking. It will save you money. I recommend this location and I will be back. We are actually going back the Monday after Father's Day. read more
