So I left a review of this and was called back by her boss Margerory. Let me say now I know why the first rep was rude and condescending..... it was the same treatment by Margerory as well. Then after this rude belittling conversation from her POOF my previous review vanished..... they started the quote at $1000 when I had been $850 from another company I will definitely just wait for the other company to get back to me.

Jesse walked me through the scope of work upfront and we moved forward. The job wasn't simple -- the wall behind the shelves had herringbone tile. Jesse opened it up, installed proper backing so the shelves could be bolted in securely, then redid the herringbone tile and matched the existing grout so well you can't tell any repair was ever done. That's exactly the outcome you hope for with tile work. While he was in there, he also fixed a leaking tub spout that required opening another section of wall for plumbing work, then patched and painted it back to seamless. Jesse's attention to detail was outstanding throughout. I'll be calling him for any future work at the house.

Look no further - Just call Mike right now! I'm so grateful that yelp helped me find Rumi for garage door repair. It's tough for my wife and I to take time off of work, so I genuinely appreciate that there is no extra charge for evening/weekend service. I called Mike on a Saturday and he was at my house in under an hour. He was beyond professional and courteous, even taking a moment to greet the dog and kids as I showed him through the kitchen to the garage. He quickly replaced both springs for $195 ($125 for one spring). ABOVE AND BEYOND: Mike also identified that one of the panels on my door was broken. This had gone unnoticed (or more likely unmentioned) during two previous visits by a competing company. Rather than try to sell me expensive replacement panels, he quickly and skillfully installed a strut that took care of the problem. A brilliant solution for $45! The garage door is operating more smoothly and more quietly than it has in all the time I've lived here. I couldn't wait to peel off that other company's service sticker and replace it with Rumi's. Even if someone else guaranteed lower prices, I'd pay a premium for the customer service and credibility Mike provided. read more

Amazing service!!! Love this company for a few reasons: 1. I was able to schedule an evening estimate/service call. Don't know about you but taking a day off of work to get my garage door fixed is not an option for me. No problem with Rumi! 2. Soooooo quick. Called at 4, estimate at 6:15, done at 6:45. I expected to have to schedule a time to get the actual work done, but he had all the parts and fixed it right then and there! 3. Very reasonable prices and options for those of us who do not have hundreds of dollars to throw into a garage door. I had a crack in two pannels of my door. New pannels=big bucks. When I said I couldn't afford it, I was given another, much cheaper method to repair them for the time being. 4. Honest, polite, and respectful. I definately want this guy next time I have a problem with my garage door. Bottom line: Rumi handled the huge, expensive, headache of my garage door repair more quickly, easily, and affordably than I thought possible. I definately reccomend them! read more

How refreshing! Responsive, good workmanship, reasonable price, fast worker, pleasant and polite. Mike arrived exactly when he said he would, had both springs replaced with the same kind of spring in 20 minutes, and had the door working just like it always had. Mike was not happy with it, though, and decided the spring that had broken had not been the right spring for the door to begin with (not strong enough). He insisted on replacing them again with stronger springs, then thoroughly checked and lubricated everything, and was very attentive with final adjustments to the door and its operation. My garage door has NEVER worked better, more smoothly or quieter. All this was done within 40 minutes of his arrival. And not only did Mike not charge for replacing the springs twice, he refused my offer to pay extra for it. Charged exactly what he had quoted me: $195 for replacing two springs and service call. I highly recommend Rumi to anyone! read more

I agree with all the other reviewers my only comment is I wish I had called the Rumi Garage Door Co. two days ago. That is when my garage door spring broke and I called the company who installed it. They gave me an appointment two days later and a time between 9AM and 2PM. Since it was obvious they were not going to make it I called at 1:30 after I had been waiting all day, I said I would find someone else. I called Mike around 2PM he said he could help at 3:30PM. I had to go watch my daughter at a meet and he came when my husband came home and now that I am back with my daughter everything is all fixed before 7:30PM! My husband said make sure we get his card. If we ever have a garage door issue we will call Mike. Did I mentioned he provided a three year warranty. There is a reason he has five stars he delivers five star service! read more

I have hardly written reviews for professionals, I have had no luck with car mechanic, plumber, Tree Contractor etc. but this guy is very skilled in what he does. So here is what I observed when he fixed my garage door within 30 minutes. I had accidentally hit my Garage door with my Mini Van, the door got bent in three horizontal panels. Mike took a look and gave me a quick quote and fixed it within 30 minutes. 1. He is highly skilled and did the work as if he knew inside out about Garage doors 2. His service charge is very reasonable. 3. He is very polite and will try to save you money. 4. He is very quick to fix the issue. I was really impressed with his skills and hence wanted to give him a good review. Use this company for all your garage door needs! I called around 10:30 this morning and told Mike that one of the springs in our garage door opener had broken over the weekend. He said he could come over between 1 and 2pm, and said it would cost $195.00 to fix, so I agreed. Mike showed up at 1:30, had a look at the problem and said it would take him about a half hour to fix. At 2 o'clock he was finished, demonstrated how the door now worked and presented his bill. As I was writing out the check to pay, he asked how I had heard of him, and I told him it was on "Yelp". He then told me that he has a $15.00 off coupon on "Yelp", so the bill would now be $180.00. What an honest broker! I am truly impressed with his knowledge, skill and professionalism. All of this includes a 3 year warranty! This company can't be beat! read more

This guy is amazing! A little hard to understand over the phone at first but he is fast as a speeding bullet! I called for what I thought was a problem with my garage door motor. He was at my house within 2 hours. He diagnosed the problem in 2 minutes and fixed is for a third of what I was expecting. It was not the motor at all so I am glad I did not mess with anything before he got there. The guy was in and out in under 30 minutes tops and he looked over the entire system before he left and tweaked a few things for me to keep it running right for the future. I had never used YELP before but I went to the garage door repair section for Lisle Illinois. RUMI garage door was listed as being a good and reputable business. I took a chance and called Mike in the morning and he said he would be out in an hour. He was there within an hour. I needed a new spring but in addition my garage door had shifted. He quoted me a good price and said there wasn't a problem to fix the door. He is very good and a friendly person. He doesn't add on non-essentials just to raise the price. His price was very good. 12/29/11 Mike/Owner of Rumi Company did a fantastic job. I called around, not sure who to pick. I read the YELP reviews & decided to call Mike. He answered right away & came within an hour. He replaced a few springs and adjusted the settings on one of the garage doors, was done in 20 minutes. He also gave me a free remote for our garage doors. His fee was so reasonable, when I mentioned I read all the YELP reviews, he gave me the discount - he offers on YELP. I was nervous about who to pick to fix the garage doors, & was afraid of the cost. This turned out to be a great experience, Mike was very efficient & polite. I found this garage door repair company on Yelp and the one review for it was very positive. I called them at 10 AM on a Sunday morning and a technician arrived at my house within 45 minutes. He quickly determined why my garage door was not working, the circuit board needed to be replaced because it was 14 years old, and retrieved the replacement part from his car. The garage door was completely repaired in about half an hour. Total cost was $149 after he credited me $15 for the coupon they offer. I was totally satisfied with this experience and would highly recommend them to anybody who has garage door service needs. read more

Rarely have I had such a pleasant experience with repair work. Mike was very gracious in his demeanor and expert in his work. I called him on a Saturday evening just before 5 pm. He was out, diagnosed the problem (broken/stripped gears in door opener) and had the replacement part in his van and completed everything by 6:15! He didn't just replace the broken parts, but he corrected the problem that ultimately caused the repair to be necessary--tightening the door spring. First of all-thanks to all of the previous reviewers. You were all 100% correct. Rumi, the owner called me back right away and said they could come out right away. I had to hold him off because I was not going to be home until a little later. He told me my schedule was his schedule. He arrived promptly and did the work very quickly. His price was VERY fair and even offered a three year warranty. I specifically remember only getting a one year warranty the last time I had this type of work done (springs). This is the second time I have used Rumi Garage for a repair/maintenance issue with my garage door(completely separate issue from the last time) and as before Mike came out the day after I contacted him, and had the issue with the door springs and sensors fixed within 15 minutes, and he checked to make sure it worked multiple times. My garage door opener motor was running, but the drive shaft wasn't moving to open the door. Called Rumi based on good reviews here. Mike worked around my work schedule and gladly came out the next evening. He was very friendly. He replaced the gear assembly and had the opener working perfectly within 15 minutes. He also lubed all moving parts, so now my door opens and closes more quietly than it ever did. Not only did he come out on a weekend, and on very short notice, but he also gave me a quote right over the phone (a couple of his competitors refuse to do that). One of our garage door springs broke this morning around 10:15. Yelp reviews looked very good so I called Rumi Co. Mike said he'd be able to get to us by 1:00 PM. He actually arrived at 12:30 and went right to work. Within 25 minutes the garage door was operating better than ever. Mike not only replaced the broken springs, but tightened down all hinges, lubed the door , adjusted the drive chain and tweaked the door travel settings. Rumi is such a nice guy that alway reach out a helping hands. Last winter, he repaired my garage door springs. I called him, and he shows up within one hour. The next hour, everything came back to normal. Rumi even gave me a discount on the repair. Last week, my garage door started to bounce back every now and then. I called Rumi again. Best business in Chicago! I called Rumi early on a Friday morning with a garage door that was stuck in the open position due to failed springs and sheared rollers.
