Mike is a consumate professional. In having a garage door replaced, what should have been a 2-3 hour job...turned into a 5 hour job. The foundation concrete had to be cut to accomodate the new rails. Well, one of the springs on our garage door broke. It was probably the original since the house was built 20 years ago. I originally called the number on the sticker next to the garage door switch, which was the company that put in the garage door opener last year. they quoted me what seemed an OK price, (I looked up the price of each garage door spring retail), but they had some scheduling difficulties. I then got to work and looked around on Yelp for a company closer to where we live. I found this at the top of the Yelp results, with the maximum good reviews. I called them, and sure enough I spoke to Mike and he politely scheduled me for the next morning, quoting me a better price than the other company. the next day Mike showed up at around 11:30 in the morning and my experience was pretty similar with the other reviewers on here. He was very polite and courteous, and took about 25 minutes to replace my Springs. I handed in the coupon I printed off the website for a $15 discount and he gave me an invoice that Also stated a three year warranty. A quite satisfactory experience overall! read more

It is a rare thing when I deal with a company that was as good as Rumi Garage Door. Our garage door went on the fritz on a Saturday evening. Early on Sunday (yes, Sunday!) morning I started calling around. Luck was with me because Mike called me back before 9 in the morning and was at my home within the hour. He diagnosed the problem quickly and made the repair at what I considered to be a reasonable cost. We talked a little about the opener itself and Mike said our model was outdated which was no surprise as it was soon to be 20 years old. Mike gave me info on the Liftmaster model he carried and my husband and I decided to replace the opener as well. Mike had one of his employees, Arthur, come out for the install a few hours later. And what a pleasure Arthur was to deal with...just as Mike had been. The opener was installed within the hour and Arthur gave us instructions on its operation and made sure everything was just right before finishing up. Mike and Arthur were professional and pleasant (Arthur even lent us his electric saw to do a little pruning while he worked on the garage opener). This company is A+ top notch and will be our go to company should a need for garage door repair ever arise. I am not easily impressed and was extremely pleased with the service offered by Rumi. One of the cables broke on my garage door suddlenly and left me with a severely dented top panel in addition to the damaged cables. I called Mike at 10 am today and he was here by 2 pm. He gave me an estimate that was more than fair and returned 2 hours later to do the job. I really wish that I had taken before and after pictures because there's no way anyone could tell this thing was broken and dented an hour ago. Holy Moly, So I did something really dumb. but Mike from Rumi Co. made it look like it was all part of the plan... Thursday after work I parked my car, got out, and set my hard plastic water bottle down on the concrete lip of the garage while I went to bring in the trash cans. 5 minutes later I closed the garage door on top of it, bent a roller, and broke the left spring. It sounded horrible and i thought for sure I would have to replace the door, springs, and opener. Friday I yelped around for a reputable company, found Rumi, and made an appointment for Wednesday, telling Mike that I thought the whole thing would need to be replaced (~$1600). On Saturday I realized that I had time on my hands so I called him back and set an appointment for that afternoon! He came out, assessed the damage, and kindly told me that I only needed to replace the springs. 20 mins later he had greased the door, replaced the springs, and balanced the system. The springs were as old as the house (1995) so the new springs are a vast improvement; silent. Even better it was $5 under the national average! One negative critique, he doesn't always answer his phone, and never returned my voicemails. I have found this to be a common issue for some of the highest rated professionals on yelp (i assume because they are pretty busy). I was persistent, so this wasn't an issue. I have seen some yelpers give one star for contractors not returning phone calls. If you are one of those people, please consider skydiving without a parachute, it may relieve your stress... read more

Had two springs break and they had them fixed in less than a day from when I called. I called them again when one of my openers had a board go out. Mike at Rumi deserves at least a 5-star review! I was extremely impressed by how quickly he was able to schedule a service call for me -- within just a few hours of my calling him. He arrived exactly on time and is incredibly efficient! He finished replacing the broken torsion springs on my garage door, he inspected them, lubricated them, and a did final inspection very quickly! But at no time did I ever think he was cutting corners or doing shoddy work to be done fast. He just knows exactly what he's doing! We bought a new construction and decided to get the garage door opener installed after we move in. At first I went to HD but they entered our order in an inactive system and we waited to be called buy a contractor for weeks. We found Rumi here and we called him in the morning and he was able to install it same day. Very prompt service and quick. Came home from work yesterday and noticed our garage door would only open a a couple feet. Went into the garage and noticed the spring had broken and the top metal piece was disconnected. Jumped on Yelp.com and noticed Rumi Garage Door had a bunch of great reviews. I called their number around 7:45pm and left a voice message. Mike (owner) called me back a few minutes later and said he could stop by the next day (today) between 10:00 - 11:00am. He quoted me a price over the phone for a spring repair. Miked showed up today a bit before 11am. It took about 35 minutes and our garage door was working great again. Mike did an awesome job with repairing the spring and also fixed a couple other minor items on the garage door. Super nice guy with a fair price. We've been having problems with our single car garage door for about a year now and after coming home and finding it broken...again...last night (and no longer wanting to fix it myself) I decided to call someone to help fix it for good. After reviewing the yelp reviews for the guys in the area I picked Rumi Garage and I have to say all the reviews were spot on! We had a broken sprocket on top of our 1991 model sears garage door opener, so I got the part this morning from the store in fox valley at 9:15a and called Mike at about 9:40. I asked if he could come and take a look at it before 3pm today or tomorrow, and he said "no I can come over at 10:35" well he lied....he was here at 10:32!! Twenty five minutes later he was finished and the door works perfectly! Since we have an old style system with the tension springs above the rails on the sides he did tell me that it should be about $250 bucks for a new system. He didn't push at all for that, just giving me information. But since we're looking to move in the next year I told him I'd wait to see what the new house has first. He completely agreed with that. Mike was very professional, very polite and very fast. I could not have asked for more, and the price was very fair indeed. I honestly expected to pay over $100 for the service, but it was not even close to that amount. If you live in the Naperville, Lisle, Woodridge or any other areas Rumi Garage services, it's your best bet for quick great service. read more

Here's another 5 star review for Rumi. Based on Rumi's great reviews on Yelp I called them late in the day after discovering the spring on my garage door broke. Couldn't raise the door and so my car was trapped in the garage. I had intended to get three quotes before deciding which company to go with but not only did Mike answer the phone (I didn't have to leave a message), he answered all my questions over the phone and gave me a very reasonable all-inclusive price for the work. The kicker was he was also available to come out later that evening between 7PM and 8PM. Mike arrived just after 7PM like he said he would. very pleasant guy to deal with and he worked very efficiently to replace the springs and test the door operation. He also tightened everything up on the door. He was done in no time as well; finishing around 7:30PM. Highly recommended based on my experience! read more

Many service providers could learn from Mike at RUMI. One of the springs on our garage door broke at 5:00 yesterday. I called Rumi after reading the Yelp! reviews and talked with Mike. After explaining the problem, he quoted me a price to repair the spring and said he would try to schedule us as soon as possible. He was here by noon today, fixed the spring in about 20 minutes, and took the time to lubricate all of the moving parts of the mechanism. And, he's just a very nice guy. Out of curiosity, I checked on pricing from two other services and they were $50 - $100 more expensive!
