Hidden Gem on Elm Street food is phenomenal and portions are huge. Room is nicely decorated and the service was friendly and responsive

OK, I've been here a few times now, and the last meal I had there was easily the best one I've had from them so far. Whoever is back there in that kitchen, they can cook their ass off. I got the Afghan meatballs and brown rice pulak palow, which I've had before. When I had it last time, I just thought it was OK. It was a little under seasoned, the rice was a bit dry. It was still pretty good, but not quite right. Nothing to complain about, but nothing to brag about either. This time though. Those meatballs genuinely made me contemplate giving up all other forms of balled meat products, even the IKEA ones. The rice and pulak palow was SO good this time too. Better than I've ever had it. I never eat all the rice with a dish, because generally they give you too much, in my opinion. Cleared the whole thing this time. Especially with the hot sauce they have. read more

I went there with a colleague after work. The place was clean, smelled wonderful and was very inviting. We sat down and were immediately served by a very knowledgeable waiter. The atmosphere was very friendly and open to questions. We ordered two appetizers and two main dishes. We ordered the meatball and lamb shank dinners. Everything was delicious and perfect when enjoying our dinner. If there was only one thing I would complain about - it was actually too quiet. I was surprised that they did not play any music in the background. But - that is very small. The people are wonderful, the food was wonderful, the overall experience was fantastic. The place is well lit and comfortable. Authentic Afghani atmosphere, food, music. Everything comes out very fast. And we loved the food One thing to know. There are no soft drink refills and they charge $4 per glass which would even be high if allowed free refills. Soda costs almost nothing. And they don't tell you up front and it's not on the menu. Also, heads up. They charge 3.5% a card fee - so cash is a good idea. Tea pots are $10 ea too. So for 4 sodas and two tea pots you're looking at $36 which is excessive. They advertise a two kebab family meal for $40 but up-charged $10 for one of them to be beef so instead of two for $80 it was two for $100 But knowing this, next time I'd go w cash and just drink water. You know what? With all the sneaky up charges I think I'll pass. Four stars still because the waiter was nice and the food was fast and delicious read more

We tried Rumi in Manchester. I'm so glad it got on the news because I might not have known about it. It was delicious! Amongst the 5 of us, we had a good sampling of the menu: Beef Samosa and Mantu appetizers. Really yummy! Barg (beef) and Chicken Kabab, really juicy and tender, flavorful. Afghani meatballs, a little spice, tasty. Lamb Shank. This seemed to be the hero of the table. The rice with carrot and raisin was great. It came with a salad and a naan-like bread. Service was wonderful. They answered a lot of menu questions, kept coming to check on us etc. I recommend! read more

The food is absolutely delicious: the meats are so well cooked and flavored and are perfectly tender. The rice was also lovely, a perfect blend of spices and robust flavors. Our waiter was very kind and timely despite being the only one waiting the whole restaurant. Highly recommend a stop here. Rumi Kabob House opened recently on Elm Street next to USA Chicken & Biscuit, offering full service dining, takeout, and delivery (Uber Eats/Postmates). The food menu offerings include beef & chicken kabob plates, lamb shank, Afghan meatballs, appetizers, and desserts. The dining room is casual with booths and table seating and Afghan background music over the speakers. I stopped by Rumi Kabob House in Manchester for dinner. I was promptly seated at a small table in the center of the dining room and given a menu. I was given an ice water and I placed my order for a starter and entree. A basket of chewy pita bread and salad (lettuce & tomato slices) with white yogurt sauce on the side were brought out first. For a starter, Mantu ($8 plus tax), 4 soft steamed Afghan dumplings filled with ground beef and onions and topped with plenty of tomato sauce & garlic yogurt. I dipped some of the pita bread into the sauce. This was a great choice. For an entree, Chicken Kabob ($20 plus tax) plate was a good sized portion, which was comprised of boneless char-grilled marinated chicken pieces served with rice (got both white & brown rice), raw onion slices, and a char-grilled tomato. The chicken kabobs were so good, with great flavors, melt in your mouth tender. The rice was cooked just right. I used the rest of the white sauce with the dinner plate. After finishing dinner, I was all good and got the check which was $30.38 with tax and before tip. Overall, the chicken kabob and dumplings were both excellent and tasty. The service was very prompt and the food arrived in timely order. I will have to try their other kabobs on my next visits. read more

This is a place that makes you feel welcome and feeds you well. The potato samosas are light and tasty, & you wouldn't know the banjaan is eggplant. The lamb fell off the shank it was so tender, and the meatballs were rich and very slightly spicy. The chicken & beef kabobs were full of flavor and the rice topped with carrots and raisins was moist and tasty. We stayed for two hours - it's an easy, clean, big space in which to talk and catch up. Went to the new Rumi Kabob House in Manchester today and they did not disappoint. The meat was juicy/flavorful, we were served sizeable portions, and it was phenomenal value for the price point. Expect to go home with leftovers. My only concern with this place is their small menu and their limited drink options which leaves more to be desired (I presume it's because they are just starting out)-- but whatever they have, they do it well. Overall excellent new addition to the Southern NH food scene!! read more

The food was delicious! The chicken kebab was the most tender chicken kebab I have ever eaten! The brown rice was also delicious. A warning, it isn't like typical American style brown rice. No idea what seasonings were used but it was so flavorful! The salad was similar to a middle eastern salad and was the perfect accompaniment to the meal. Fresh and light. The bread reminded me of focaccia and it was also delicious. The food was even tasty cold at the airport the next day! The ambiance was great with authentic music in the background. I walked in, it is super clean, and nicely decorated. Smelling the food all the way home, it took every ounce of energy I had in me not to reach my hand in the bag. Wow.. my friend and I had a delicious plentiful dinner at Rumi. We were courteously seated. For appetizer, we shared a potato samosa. Unlike its Indian version, these samosas are flat but super crunchy and yummy. We each order Kabob dinner. I had the grilled beef while my friend had the grill beef patties. We had so much left over that I had it for lunches. For desert, we order a Falooda. It has a booba tea like drink with vermicelli. Although that sounds weird, it was a pleasant texture n surprise. My only "complaint" is that $10 for a Falooda is slightly high. Nonetheless, I will definitely coming back to this place. What a gem for Manchester residents. read more

Great atmosphere! Food is amazing! I was a bit apprehensive as I'm not familiar with Afghani food, however it was delicious! I was a member of a large party, the restaurant had arranged our tables quickly. The server was very responsive and quick throughout our time there! The table order mantu and beef samosas to share. I had a beef samosa which was quite good; but many had the mantu and said it was also very good. I ordered the Borg Kabob (tender marinated beef cubes) with mixed rice (brown and white) and Kabuli Palow (shaved carrots and raisins), some of my party ordered the same or a chicken kabob with similar accompaniments. Each of our entrees came with a small cucumber, tomato, and red onion salad with a fantastic dressing (which is also a great dip for the beef samosa) and great Afghani bread! The Borg Kabob is well seasoned, not spicy, but flavorful! Portions were large and comparable for the price and value that you received! Each of the members of our party either heartily finished our meal or took a to-go box. I would strongly recommend any size group large or small to visit Rumi Kabob House. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the staff were attentive and friendly without being overbearing. My son and I just returned from this absolutely stellar restaurant. I am visiting him (from Florida) in Manchester and we wanted to try something different . A Google search brought us here, but we will return with each trip up. For appetizers, we had the eggplant dip and the dumplings called Mondu. Both served with a delicious hot traditional Afghan bread. So delicious! For entrées, my baag (beef) kebab was the best kebab I have ever eaten in my life. I tried my son's lamb chops and he agreed they were the best he has ever had also. The spices and cooking method plus high quality meat might explain this. All entrées were served with a wonderful fattoush like salad and a choice of rice, The server was so sweet and professional, she became our friend by the end of the night. I can't wait to go back on my next visit up here to visit our new place. I highly highly recommend this nice family owned business. You will not be disappointed. read more
