I've passed this location so many times but never stopped in. I have heard rave reviews from people, principally my friend Janelle. I don't think I've ever tried Afghani food before but my boss was really excited to bring us to try something new. There is a large parking lot outside and a food truck. I'm not sure when the food truck is open or if it is just parked there for different events like Adobo Boy. The restaurant was split into two separate restaurants with Rumi's Garden seating being on the righthand side. The decor is really vibrant, colorful, and a beautiful cultural touch. The staff member we had was incredibly warm, attentive, and informative. We weren't familiar with much at all and he was so wonderful leading us through and helping.Three of us shared the mantu, pakora, and the platter for 2 (which fed like 5). There were so many leftovers that my boss's high school sons had a full meal with the leftovers. Everything was incredibly flavorful and I love how seasoned the meat was! At the end of the meal, the server brought us the complete bill without allowing us any opportunity to tip despite our protestations. He was far too kind and we plan to come back with cash for a tip. I definitely recommend you try this place out. You may want to save a little more time but the food is worth it! read more

We walk in and were brought to our seats, the place was huge and very nice and they were playing afghan music, we sat in a booth where we took our shoes off and sat there like traditional way, the food was a good price and the food was amazing, the service was amazing. My only complaint is that it did take a WHILE to get the menus but everything else was great. read more

I am looking for the Afghan food truck that used to camp out at 44th and Kalamazoo near the Mediterranean store. Ali is the friendly owner who speaks English, Russian, and his native language. I stopped by weekly to order different items, all of which are unique, tasty, and amazing. The truck is called Rumi's Garden. My favorite is Qabili Pulao, a rice dish featuring an assortment of meat choices, carrots, raisins, and a mild but eclectic oil that brings out the flavor, making it delicious. I chose the lamb, which is tender and comes off the fork. They also have wraps, a dumpling-like dish, chicken, and beef Kabobs. Need something American. Fries are on the menu. It comes with a side dish. I recommend the carrot salad. On my last visit, I was gifted a generous rice and pistachio pudding. Parking was plentiful, and the truck was easy to locate. Since it is a food truck, they only offer carry-out. I hope to reconnect and enjoy another unique dish from Central Asia. read more

We stumbled in by accident, and it was one of the best accidents I've ever had. The service was impeccable, and the food was absolutely delicious. The chicken biryani was the perfect level of spice too. Highly recommended. read more
