    Lamb Thali
    Victoria S.

Not sure why this place was dead during lunch? Their food is delicious! Maybe because it's in such an unassuming spot in the strip mall. Regardless, I'm really happy that I stopped in. I found some reviews from the EatGR page that recommended the Thali since it's like a sampler platter for one, so I went with the Lamb Thali. I asked for medium spice, and it came out more mild for my taste. The food was steaming hot and you get a lot of meat! 4 large pieces of Naan bread, a bowl of rice, a platter of yogurt that you can mix into the food to tame the spice, some lentil soup, potatoes and chickpeas, and some cucumber slices. All for the price of $17.99, which is totally worth it in my opinion. I was famished and still couldn't manage to eat all of the food. Service was fast, the staff are friendly, and everything was very clean. I'm pretty sure my plate and silverware came out hot, too. I'll be coming by here for lunch more often!

This is one of my most favorite restaurants in the GR area. Their food is traditional and delicious, both the Nepalese menu and the Indian menu. The family that owns and runs the restaurant are kind and accommodating - I have brought some friends who have had really weird dietary requests and they have always been accommodated gently. Really, this is a wonderful gem and I hope people continue to find and try it.

Absolutely wonderful. We were getting a few last minute errands done before the holidays and popped in for lunch. It wasn't busy inside but had a very steady stream of take out. I got the goat thali and my husband the goat curry. Both were fantastic! The thali was a perfect sample platter coming with pickled veggies, naan, dessert and the best lentil soup I've ever had. Spice level 6 was just hot enough to taste all the flavors but still spicy.

I've been wanting Indian/Nepali food for a while and luckily I found a nearby restaurant. I ordered takeout and my husband picked it up. We got Goat & Lamb Thali, Garlic Naan, and Steam chicken Momo. This restaurant had mastered the art of creating an explosion of flavors. We really enjoy the rich and velvety texture of vegetable curry & lentil soup. It was my husband's first time trying this cuisine, and he loved it. He also mentioned that the staff is very friendly. Considering the exceptional quality of the food, the warm reception we received, and our newfound appreciation for Indian and Nepali cuisine, we wholeheartedly recommend this hidden gem to anyone seeking an unforgettable culinary adventure.

I was inspired by Anthony Bourdain's Parts Unknown episode to Punjab where the focus on Kulcha really appealed to me. The Onion Kulcha is superb here as is the Thali. The dish comes with chicken curry and rice along with lentil soup, rajma, papad, cucumber salad and yogurt with gulab jamun and naan. The Kulcha is in its own basket. Overall an outstanding meal with plenty to take home.

Its been a long time I had momos and really looking around to find a jol momo(Nepali Momos) and came across this one. Desi spice chilli chicken, has that smoky flavor and wet, which exactly matched how I wanted it to be. Jol momos, was okay Hospitality is very nice and they welcome us with a warm smile

I have been looking for momos in US since I had them in India. This is the only place that I was able to find in GR area that had them. I ordered the steamed chicken and veggie momos and butter chicken with naan. The steamed chicken momos were fantastic! I loved them! The filling had a great flavor and the sauce was spicy. If you can't handle spice it might be a bit too much. Also, for 8.99 there are a decent amount of momos. The veggie momos had a weird filling taste, I probably will not order those again. I was hoping for more from them. The butter chicken and naan were both really good. I would say this was the best butter chicken in GR that I have had. Its definitely on the spicy side and had a great flavor. I would highly recommend this place especially if you like food thats spicy.

Incredible experience at Desi Spice! They had a very big menu with so many options. We tried the following: Chicken Saagwala Onion Kulcha Garlic Naan Desi spice special chicken Chicken 65 Johl Momo Everything was easily a 10/10! These flavors were deeply developed. I only wish I lived closer because they offer free delivery within 5 miles for orders $20 or more! I highly recommend you try Desi Spice. I don't believe you'll ever be disappointed.

This place is right next to the Horrocks Market, so a perfect place to grab an Indian meal after your grocery shopping. The decor is humble and nothing fancy. But this is one of those rare joints where you get pretty good north Indian/ Nepali cuisine. Specially if you're curious about Nepali food, you must try the "momo". We went there to grab some lunch after doing the groceries and the chicken thali (multi course meal with chicken curry, lentils, rajma, naan, green salad, papad, yogurt, gulab jamun) didn't disappoint at all. The thing we liked about the food is that it's very different from most of the other Indian restaurants in GR due to the use of northern spices. The service was pretty quick so we didn't have to waste a lot of time waiting for the order either. All in all, a good place to try out!

I can't rate them high enough. I was going to horrocks and rolled in here for lunch and was blown away. I ordered the chicken vindaloo and will now bring going back weekly!

Nepali food caught my eye when I saw their sign and I wonders if they had momos,a Nepali steamed dumpling that I was introduced to on a trip to Kathmandu. So yes they make their own momos here.I ordered them-and they were delicious. Restaurant ambiance reminds me of a typical restaurant in the Himalayan region.

Small looking from the outside and over the years that we have visited this place, it's switched owners for the 4th time. However, please don't let that deter you. The current owners do an excellent job of fresh preparation and good service. We had Prabin as our server during lunch and he had good recommendations and the food was very good. Highly recommend the Thali if you are looking for a good value and a very filling meal. I tried the Chicken Thali (included Butter Chicken) and it was excellent.

Madras Indian Grill was suggested and everyone seemed excited as most of us hadn't been there before and we were craving Indian food. The restaurant is pretty large and we were one of a few parties dining in. The menu is huge, with lots of great options for vegetarians, but be careful if you have a nut allergy as many items have cashews and/or almonds. Our friend was directed to the chicken vindaloo which doesn't have cashews. I like that they also feature south Indian items as well as Indo-Chinese dishes. They also have non-alcoholic drinks and desserts. We started with two orders of the veggie samosas, which were excellent. I find that sometimes samosas can be dry, but not these! The mint and tamarind sauces were flavorful and tasty. I'd get these every time. For my entree, I got the palak paneer and also the chicken hakka noodles, as I've never had them before. We also got two orders of garlic naan and an order of paratha. Our food came out pretty quickly and everything was so good. I loved the flavors of the palak paneer (although it was not spicy at all -- I ordered it "American medium spicy") and the textures of the hakka noodles. I couldn't believe the portion sizes in relation to price -- the entrees were all around $12-$14 and were generous portions as we all had leftovers. Our server was kind of roasting us for our orders (telling us the butter chicken was bad and we should order something else, commenting on our spice level preferences, etc.). They have a lunch buffet Friday-Sunday that I really want to check out (they said the menu rotates for that and you can find the items on their social media), but otherwise I think this will be a good takeout spot for me. It took quite a bit of time for us to get our checks and to-go containers. But I'm so glad I got to try this food and I'll be eating my way through the menu!

Ive probably been 5 times now and each time their has been a funky, chemical like smell in the restaurant. The employees are also not the friendliest. I usually get takeout and when I do ive had to wait up to 30 minutes past the time that I chose for pick up, if the food isnt going to be ready until 5:30 dont tell me I can pick it up at 5. But... with all that being said the food has been really good. I usually get butter chicken from them. The chicken is well seasoned, the gravy is thick and seasoned heavily. Its not the best Butter Chicken I've ever had but for Michigan its pretty darn good. They give you a healthy amount of rice, but its not the best rice I've tried. Their naan is better then most ive tried around the GR area, soft and pillowy. The food is about a 4 but the service and ambiance are closer to 2.

I put in an online lunch order for these as well as ras malai, and chicken kadhai and chicken fried rice for my husband (the menu noted it's their specialty). The restaurant called as my husband was pulling in and they were out of my two appetizers and the kheer dessert (my whole meal). We didn't want to cancel on them so I figured I would share his. The kadhai was very good -the meat was tender and the sauce was delish. The portion, for the price, was a bit steep. Maybe a scant cup of meat, a cup of sauce, and a cup and a half of rice for $15 -no sides or bread. The chicken fried rice wasn't great. Salt helped, but it was maybe a 5/10. The ras malai was really, really off-putting. I worried at one point that the balls were actually styrofoam and not food. Further, they were not in a cardamom condensed milk -they were in plain sugar syrup and they were definitely not cottage cheese patties. I checked against the website to ensure they didn't prepare them a different way -I think, perhaps, they were out of that item as well and threw a few things together. It was, really, really bad. I would probably not try again -from being out of half our food to us only liking one item, too costly and too much of a risk.
