I definitely recommend this place to all of my friends and family. The food is amazing and the most authentic I have tasted in a while. (Quamaq chai with their breakfast tomato eggs is a must!) They make some of their foods in a giant dome oven! The pastries are beautifully made, fresh, and delicious. The service was awesome, and the staff was very attentive. Though this is a store/restaurant, the layout makes it very comfortable and they have some great products. The place is always clean and well decorated. Saw the sign in the plaza and did a Uturn. Found them completely by accident! I now have a new stop for Barbary bread. While there we had the chocolate cake and crème brûlée with chai! I ordered a cake for my daughter's wedding on 4th January 2025. It was a horrible and very bad cake. I specifically asked for fresh colourful flowers. They only put a very small amount of white flowers. I asked for a golden rim. We got a light pink very un neat rim. These were bad choices, but my daughter and I overlooked them. It was just aesthetics, and we were willing to move on without complaint. However, when we cut into the cake, we were so disappointed. We personally had a meeting with the staff, we sat down and discussed flavors. After a while, we decided on mango cake with mango and white ganache filling. This was a month ago. We confirmed this by text one week ago. How does it make sense that there was none of that? It was vanilla cake with vanilla filling! It tasted like plain vanilla shop bought packet cake. Tasteless. It was disaster. I paid $420 for an ugly and tasteless cake. My daughter did not deserve this on her special day. I will not recommend this business to anyone. The person who took the order promised us that it will be good cake but it was a waste of cake and waste of money. My favorite things to order from Rumi's is the lamb special. It's a big piece of lamb with rice and it's about $17 or $18. Well worth the price. We also like their pepperoni pizza. One of the only places in Elk Grove that carries beef pepperoni for pizza. Check it out! read more

WE PAID $28.90 AND GOT ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! This was our first visit and to say we were disappointed, would be a stark understatement. Placed our order for dine in and waited... And waited... And waited... And waited... My husband got impatient and went outside after 20 minutes or so, then came back in. Then another 15 goes by and no food, so he goes back outside. I got up to check on food about 40 minutes after ordering and an employee was walking out with food. She came to my table but then told me it was for another patron. (One that just ordered aprox 30 minutes after I did) She asked me what we ordered and I told her beef& lamb kabob plate with an extra chicken kabob. She said it's coming and hurried off. At this point my husband came back in. We waited another 5 minutes and he said let's just go somewhere else. It was not super busy, I really cannot understand how long they expect hungry people to wait for food. Also, be prepared to wait over 15-20 minutes for someone to even acknowledge you're waiting to be helped. We purchased 7lbs of Laandi meat (lamb) priced at $20/lb and the meat was rotten and inedible. The owner refused to take it back or even apologize, which is not even the issue. She started arguing with my mother because she brought the meat back. Coming from a fellow Afghan, there are plenty of good Afghan markets and restaurants in the Sacramento area. Went to an early dinner with my family and I. The location is great, in and outdoor seating. When we arrived, we lined up, and there was a lack of customer awareness, or welcoming. We were greeted, or order taken (chicken kabob, beef plate, chicken salad, and fries, plus tons of desserts). Food was priced fair, food took about 20 minutes, and was fresh and tasty. The restaurant gives tons of rice, enough for two at least. The desserts, on the other hand, nothing that my family and I cared for. Not sure if it is an origin or style of baking. Ordered several cakes (peanut butter, chocolate, carrot cake and cookies) the dessert had an overlying oiliness about it, and no define favor or taste to any one of them, and we LOVE LOVE desserts. I asked for extra potatoes in bolani barely the bolani had any potatoes, the pokura was soggy and cold, the tortilla chips in mediterranean nachos were a good month old with zero flavor and loads of afghan salad on top. First off it is located in a great location surrounded by several other businesses but still sticks out as being unique. We also ordered food from the restaurant type area. The meat/veggies pizza, shawarma wrap, and bolani were all pretty good. It's great how they have a woodfire oven, and the shawarma they have is actually made by the original method of spinning the meat around a heat source and carving the meat off making it juicy throughout. The beef kabob was pretty good but the portion was a bit on the smaller side. I wasn't a fan of any of the sweets other than cheesecake. It was pretty confusing on where/how to order. It was also a bit unorganized. We were waiting for our food but realized our order was sitting on the counter the whole time.
