This is the biggest of their 5 stores. Hopefully you get to work with Cathy. She is personable, friendly and very knowledgeable. The store has pretty much everything you need as a runner. They carry multiple shoe brands and a handful of models from each of those brands. A good variety of clothing options as well as nutritional options. They carry a good amount of Garmin watch models as well. The store is very clean and nicely organized. They will watch you walk to determine the right shoes for you. If you're willing to trust their skills and experiences, you will end up in the right shoes and notice a difference. Definitely a great place to go for your running needs and connect with local runners. Best running store period! Every time I come here, the salesperson who helps me is knowledgeable and helps me find a great shoe for the workouts I do. Went back today because my Brooks were on their last legs and I have a fitness competition coming up. The gentleman who helped me watched me walk, asked me about the type of workouts I do and fitted me for an On, the new Swedish shoes that are all the rage now. After trying them on and waking he even had me run a little on the treadmill to make sure they were the right shoes for my feet. I can't wait to get on the track tonight and put them to the test. Night and day from my experience at that store on Brickell today. Runners Depot employees not only know their stuff when it comes to shoes, they also have excellent customer service skills. I never expected to run again. Then I met George, the bundle of pure canine energy. George got me motivated, and the next thing I knew, I was walking 5 miles a day. Then, he had my stride moving faster into a trot. I started thinking that this was not walking the dog anymore. My body was having a love hate relationship with this "new" exercise. At this point, I knew my shoes were not going to cut it anymore. What to do... I did some research and found a good recommendation or so I thought. I was looking for "running shoes" that were made for high shock absorption. I ordered them from Amazon and what a mistake that was. They were crap, except I think crap would absorb more shock than these shoes did. Crap wouldn't give the kind of blisters these were giving. So I decided to let a professional handle this, and headed over to Runners Depot. I walked in and the place was pretty busy, but Frank immediately acknowledged me and made me feel welcome. I was kind of embarrassed to start the conversation but I just went ahead and explained my situation. I'm a former runner that had a hip replaced and thought I would never run again. Somehow my dog has me running again, and now I have a new problem. My shoes aren't working anymore. Frank had me walk to see how my feet moved and asked some questions about my sizing and goals. He brought out 2 pairs and laced them up. WONDERFUL. The first pair I tried felt wonderful on my feet. He had me get on the treadmill to test them out. I was sold. Then he put the reigns on me (figuratively) and asked me to try on the second pair. He laced them up again, and I walked 3 steps and knew these were exactly what I was hoping for. The shock absorption was superb. Seriously I could've bought both pairs, but these were the ones that I was really hoping to find for my situation. AMAZING! This morning I took George out and ran his little rear off. It was so much fun. My feet and hip feel fantastic. This review could be really short. If you're a runner, this is your place. If you don't run, don't come in because there probably isn't anything you're going to want here. If you've never been a runner but want to be one this is a good place to start- you need a good pair of shoes on your feet if you're going to become a good runner. Over the phone, he went over some models I may be interested in. I then stopped in the store and they watched me walk and looked at the bottom of my shoe to see how I wear the shoe. He brought out a few different pairs for me to try on and three employees watched me walk to see the fit. You get to try the shoes for 14 days(only wearing them inside) and if you are not satisfied you may exchange them for a different pair. They have many brands on display and are very willing to help you get the right fitting shoe to meet your needs. There is free parking in the lot attached to the store. If you are in a running club, you get a discount. Also military, police and fire fighters receive a discount. They accept coupons from running wild. I have lived in multiple states with large running communities, and the local running stores are a big part of those communities. Runners Depot is just like those shops. They offer fittings in store. They sell all of the gu and chews a distance runner could need. They have the best brands in footwear, from Brooks and Asics to Saucony. They offer clothing and accessories that any runner might drool over. Beyond the shop though, they are part of the community. They have runs and running clubs that leave from the stores. They do weekend runs. They do organized group runs. They are a part of the Flanigan's Rib Run. They are involved. In my opinion, you can buy a pair of shoes anywhere, but not many places offer the added benefits like Runners Depot. read more

i went in to get my Gait analysis (My daughter told me about this) and they spent some time with me trying to figure out my feet and where i put most of my balance when coming down. They let me try a few before settling on one that fit nice. i found out one foot is 1/2 inch longer than the other which makes since now. The staff are very friendly and i appreciated their professionalism. I purchased this about a week ago and have some issues with the left show. Let's see if they adhere to the return policy. I want to switch shoes I think i can take a 1/2 inch off to prevent the burning on the left foot. I like everything about this store...I will give them a 5 once i find out if they will replace my shoe with a different size. only wore it once. Very nice staff. You get fitted for the right sneaker but the prices are at Manufactures Suggested Retail Price so there are no "bargains" . I spent $134 for a women's New Balance sneaker wide width. I get it. You need a good sneaker when doing a lot of walking or running but still expensive to me. It's a "specialty" store so you will pay more. They do have a fair return/exchange policy within a certain timeframe but to get a refund the sneakers cannot show use. Walking around in the store is not enough to know if they are good for you once you start running or going on long walks. The staff is very attentive and that's what you are "paying" for too. read more

Went to Runners Depot today. As I was browsing the running sneakers a salesperson that was helping someone else asked me if I needed help. Since I was there to buy the same size and model sneaker I already own I said "no thank you." After I located the pair that I wanted on the display wall, I walked over to the wall where they keep their inventory. I wanted to see if they had the shoe that I wanted in stock. As I was looking (and NOT touching) a female salesperson sternly reprimanded me indicating "Sir! We will get the sneakers for you!" She then got up from where she was sitting and asked my name so she could write it on an empty whiteboard - the list of people waiting to be helped. As several salespeople wrapped up and customers departed, I sat there waiting until in frustration, I purchased the shoes I wanted on the New Balance website while sitting alone on a bench in their store. I can't rave enough about this Runners Depot! The staff was so friendly, helpful, & knowledgeable in helping me find the right pair of shoes for me. Shannon watches how you walk and observes if your foot rolls out, in, where you put the most pressure, etc. & finds a shoe catered to your walking style. I am not a runner, but a senior walking (with my dog), twice a day. I hurt my back, and needed to go to a chiropractor. The chiropractor saw that I usually wear sandals, even when walking. I have wide feet, so hard to fit with sneakers at a store, so I buy SAS shoes. The chiro told me I wouldn't even know I was wearing shoes. He was right! I bought SAS sneakers, and they were heavy, they hurt my hips, so here I was in Runner's Depot expecting the usual. I had Chuck assist me. He measured my foot (don't get that nowadays), but he did. I took out my socks, and he gave me several pairs of sneakers. I bought 1 pair and then tried on others with the same brand, just different colors. Chuch noticed that the other colors were smaller, and not good for my foot, So he brought out a different brand. Bingo! I bought 2 pairs of shoes. I saw quite a few people there, young and old, and all seemed happy with their experience. They also had some clothing to look at. So this store, Runner's Dept on University, a few blocks south of Whole Foods, is perfect if you care about your feet. Nothing worse for your feet or back, hips, etc, then a pair of ill-fitted shoes. If you run this is the place for shoes. They have a great selection for runners. Walkers are not left out, they have a great selection of walking shoes as well. Like the other reviews state, they watch you walk, run and then they start trying shoes on you. If you are a runner they put you on a treadmill and size up your foot. (Haha get it size it up)! This is the second pair of running shoes I have purchased and I am more than happy. They have a 14 day satisfaction guaranteed program. Meaning if you buy the shoe and don't like it for what ever reason you bring it back and they give you another shoe. They stand behind their shoes! There seems to be a lot of knowledgeable associates who are eager to help you. Be prepared the prices are a little high, but i think well worth the shoe. Living in downtown Miami, I only came across this location after visiting the one in Aventura. The Aventura location called ahead for me to place a certain item on hold. Upon arrival I was greeted right away by a very young sales associate. She located the item placed on hold. But it wasn't the right thing. No problem. She went to look for the right size and came back to let me know they didn't have it. What?!?!?!?! I only drove to Davie because the Aventura location said that Davie not only had it for me & it was on hold for me. I was silently boiling. The poor girl somehow sensed this and found a more senior person to address my concerns. At first the new person offered to order the item and have it shipped to me for free after learning I lived in Downtown Miami. Sensing I was still disgruntled she started to review her stock to see if there was something else that could help. She found something & it did help. Kudos to them for dealing with a crabby customer and turning my frown upside down. This location is bigger and therefore has a bigger selection of gear, shoes & accessories. Plus they offer excellent customer service! While I may not drive all the way here just to shop around, I've come to learn that Runner's Depot is generally a reliable source of information and gear. read more

I returned the first pair and explained that they were too big only to be sized again and told the first pair was not wide enough and they went up a size too. Prices are obviously higher than usual, but if you check in through Yelp.com, you get a $10.00 discount on $80.00 you spent. Cool thing about RD is that they assess your walking/step pattern and suggest the right sneakers for you. They then have you run on one of their treadmills to test the shoe before purchase. I learned of Runner's Depot years ago when I purchased my first pair of running shoes from them. That was an easy transaction and I ended up with a pair of long lasting shoes that I was very happy with for years. However, even the best of shoes must eventually meet their demise, and hence I was in need of a new pair. I'll first start off by saying what went wrong (and it really has nothing to do with the store). Back in May, I had purchased a pair of Mizuno Wave Precision 11's and the fit felt ok, but I didn't really get a chance to try them out on the treadmill. I brought them home and didn't start running with them until just recently (a few weeks ago) because I just never made it out to run due to being busy. When I did finally take them out, I noticed after short distances my feet would tingle and the shoes felt really tight and uncomfortable. I knew it was a fit problem and that I would have to return the shoes. I was aware of their return policy when I purchased the shoes and understood that they don't issue refunds. Although this may be poor practice to some, I understand they are a small, privately owned business and this kind of policy is pretty common especially for smaller local stores. I knew I needed to return my shoes but was worried that I'd not get a refund at all being that it had been so long since I purchased them. I called the store earlier this week and spoke with Kevin who told me to come into the store so they could see what could be done. I came into the store and was greeted almost immediately by Mike. I explained to Mike what happened and told him that the shoes were basically new (they only have about 7-9 miles on them) and he immediately went to see what he could do about the problem. I paid full price for the shoes, which were an older model, but had recently dropped in price. He came back and at first told me that I would be able to get the reduced price on them which I was ok with; However, after further inspection and consulting with the owner Mike said I'd only get 50 dollars back. This discouraged me a bit but I expressed my desire to walk out of the store with a great pair of shoes (plus some more things that I needed as well) and I also had a rather long list of shoes that I wanted to try after some (extensive) research. He told me let's start pulling shoes and getting fit and then he'll see what he can do after I had made a decision. Mike sat with me for at least 2 hours helping me find a shoe that was not only comfortable, but also worked well with my biomechanics. Each shoe I tried I was able to fully test on the treadmill and run at a decent speed to see how the shoe felt. If there was a shoe I disliked, he eliminated it from the group and slowly but surely we narrowed it down to 3 really great shoes: Mizuno Wave Rider 16, Saucony Cortana 2, and Saucony Triumph 10's. I didn't have that much money to spend and since I thought I was only getting 50.00 credit, I went with the Wave Riders (which I really liked a whole lot) and then proceeded to choose the other things I needed. At the register, Mike rang me up and ended up not only giving me 75.00 credit toward my purchase, but gave me the socks at a discounted price too! He attended to me personally throughout my entire shopping experience and was really attentive (and was even quick enough to deal with a register issue and analyzing someones gait whilst I was in the midst of running on the treadmill). I didn't have to wait for Mike for one second, he was always there to take care of me and he brought box after box of shoes for me to try. He also helped me personally select my running apparel and my socks for me without me even asking. At the end of my experience I was even able to sit and chit-chat with him and the store owner and we had some laughs. I seriously had a great experience at Runner's Depot! Their prices are fair (and pretty average for most retail locations) but what they lack in cheap prices (versus Online retailers) they make up for with attention to detail, great customer service, and personal attention. You can't buy that kind of service online or at a major chain (like Dick's or Sports Authority) They really did all they could to help me out and I really appreciate their service and support. I like the Brooks brand and he was super knowledgeable and helped me choose which style was right for me. Since there can be changes each time a new style is updated, it was great that he was up to date on all of the differences that are important right now. I have run most of my life, mostly for exercise and I learned years ago in Boston that the right shoes are everything. Runners depot is one of the best I have been to. They care about the customer, and from the standard fitting, to the running on the treadmill with cameras you know you are walking out with the right shoes. The one time I was sold the wrong shoes I returned after three runs and asked for assistance. Not only did they put me in better shoes right away but the shoes were $25 dollars cheaper, so I got the right shoes and saved a bit of money. He was even willing to switch out a pair of laces so they would match my work scrubs. These shoes just aren't for running. I brought my mother here and they gave us a great assessment. Poor thing was always wearing the wrong size and the wrong type of sneaker. She's diabetic and could have really done damage to her foot. It's not common to find a place that has trained staff that will sell you a good running/walking shoe for your needs rather than what's "hot". I came back a month later and got the personal service for myself. I love the products, the style, and I feel more supported when I exercise.
