Love love love Steven!! I was able to get an appointment on a Friday afternoon without any problem. Right when I got to the salon, a man greeted me by name. How awesome is that? The decor was really cute and welcoming. Steven greeted me and walked me to my chair where there were magazines and water waiting for me. He spent about 10 minutes looking at my hair, asking questions about how I wanted it done, and explaining the process. I've only dyed my hair a couple times before, so everything was still new to me. He took the time to explain the process of balayage and made me feel really comfortable. After dying my hair, he gave me a shoulder length blunt cut. I absolutely love my hair!!! read more

I rarely leave reviews but when I experience something excellent I have to spread the word. Here are the reasons why this is the best salon I've ever been to: 1. They have one hour time slots-for MEN'S hair. I've never seen this before. When salons give you a large time slot that means they're making sure they have adequate time to pay close attention to the details of your hair. It also means they're sacrificing more clients to make sure you end up with a high quality result. 2. Their prices are completely reasonable given the amount of time they take for each person. I paid $37 for a one hour haircut. I used to go to Press Men's Hair in Newport and they charge a whopping $47 for a 35 minute haircut. 3. I didn't expect the appointment to last for an hour, so I only paid the parking meter up to 45 minutes. They put money in the meter for me without even asking to make sure there was enough time for my hair. That's integrity. 4. My stylist, Steven, was SUPER knowledgeable about hair. I know all stylists are supposed to be knowledgeable, but they're really not. He taught me how to style my hair correctly and which products to use, which is something I've been researching literally forever. Also, if your stylist has good hair themselves, they probably know what they're doing. 5. They were prompt with taking me upstairs to start the appointment, I didn't have to wait at all. 6. Steven asked me LOTS of questions about how I wanted my hair to look, and explained to me what he was doing every step of the way. He also explained to me what would look best on me aesthetically. I have never had a stylist care that much. 7. Obviously my hair looks really good or else I wouldn't have left this review. I didn't receive any incentives to write this-I genuinely just want everyone to know how good this place is. read more

I'm surprised this salon does not have more positive reviews! I've been going to the same salon for the past 2 years, and felt my hair stylist wasn't charging me fairly. I'm really picky when choosing a salon, so I did plenty of research, RWS included. I was able to book an appointment on their website and received an email and text to confirm my appointment. Their pricing is listed on the website as well, so you're not left wondering what the damage is! I love how Steven cuts my hair. He's always informative and drops heavy knowledge on you about your hair. I referred him to my sister and will be referring a lot more people to him. read more

I just found my new spot. I love everything about this place from the decor and aesthetic to the customer service. Ray in the front is so sweet and welcoming he makes you feel right at home. I had Steven who was amazing. He was a wizard and literally read my mind. So not to sound like a total biznatch but relocating from LA to OC I felt like I went from creme de la creme of salon pickings to slim pickings. I tried one of the top rated salons in Newport and left making plans to correct the color & a cut that was a little too Rachel circa Friends in the 90s. Ummm, no. I tried another top rated salon in Newport for the color fix and liked the person. But, when it came time to get my hair cut again, I couldn't find a single place around Newport/Costa Mesa/Irvine etc that looked promising. No offense but every picture I saw of example work looked totally dated. I actually considered making the 2 hour drive up to LA to see my old stylist. But the thought of spending a full day to get a hair cut seemed ridiculous and annoying. So I figured I'd give this place a shot. Steve was very fast, super friendly, and did a great job with the cut. I'm giving it 4 stars only because I can't speak to the quality of color work but I'm actually thinking of trying Steve out for my color melt/ombre next time as I'm sure it's far less $$$ than the pricey place I go to in Newport. read more

The first time I came to this salon was to treat my mom to a hair cut, style and color for her birthday. Her appointment was with Jose and she was very happy with it. She looked and felt good and Jose was extremely professional and attentive to her needs. Since my mom was really happy with Jose's work I decided to come back and get a haircut myself. Now I usually go to a barbershop but during this time of the year I don't have a lot of free time because of work and the barber I usually go to had very limited availability. I tried giving some other local barbershops a try but they don't do appointments and wait time can be up to two hours or more! So I contacted Jose and once again he was extremely professional and flexible. We scheduled an appointment and it was immediately confirmed by the Salon and I got a reminder the day of the appointment through text. Gladene does amazing work! I called this morning to see if by any chance they had room for me on their schedule. Ray I believe answered the phone, he started my experience off great. He let me know that Glad had room on her schedule to take me for a later 530 appointment. I'm not going to lie I was a little scared, seeing as I had not heard about this hair stylist but none the less decided to give her a try. Oh man! Am I happy I did. She is absolutely wonderful! From the minute I walked in both Ray and Glad made me feel so welcome. They offered me water, coffee, snacks it was great! Then came the real test I sat in the chair I've dreaded most of my life. I always feel so vulnerable getting my hair done, but Glad made everything better. She asked many questions regarding what I wanted, what I didn't want, what I wasn't sure of, she covered all the bases. She gave me her ideas, and I gave her mine... it was refreshing. I've never had a hair stylist really listen to what I have to say, and I felt as if Glad really cared about me liking the end result. She washed my hair, cut my bangs (exactly how I had explained I wanted them) and styled my hair. At the end of it all I didn't like my hair...I LOVED IT!
