Visited in a Saturday around noon. The place was packed with no open seats but the inside is fairly small. Service was friendly but...they were out of Runzas!! The counter guy told us immediately and that it would be around 30 minutes before the had more ready so that was a bummer. I knew I wanted some frozen runzas take back to Minnesota so asked for those and they were able to sell me what I needed. Would've liked to get my immediate runza fix at this location but frozen was it unfortunately. An employee got extremely pissy about asking for an extra ranch, asking for drinks after getting our meal instead of asking before, and insulting my friends. (If you're going to be talking crap, at least go to the kitchen instead of in front of the customers) Multiple customers are scared of going up to ask for anything because of this. Great regional fast food spot. Their Runza sandwich is very good and unique. Kind of an enclosed burger that tastes similar to White Castle, but in a different shape. The #1 sandwich had low quality beef. I ordered a twister cone and the lady said that they were out of ice cream and a family ordered a twister cone and they got there twister cones. Then I thought to myself, "HOW IN THE WORLD DID I NOT GET MY TWISTER CONE!" When i went into the bathroom, i noticed that there was a fish in the toilet and a gorilla using the urinal and a plant growing in the sink. As an Omaha resident I absolute love Runza. I know outsiders from Nebraska may not like Runza. But the Runza sandwich is fantastic perfect hot pocket of bread ground beef, cheese and cabbage. If you are not into that their hamburgers are fantastic and same with their buffalo chicken wrap and fries. You absolutely must try their ranch. I wasn't impressed with this staple food of Nebraska. The Runza reminds me of a hot pocket. It had hamburger beef, onions, cabbage, and cheese in it as the filling. I gave it 2 stars only because the food was hot when it was delivered and the onion rings were very delicious. The sandwich or hot pocket definitely did not look like the pictures that was advertised. Not a fan, but glad I gave it a try. They also had Dr. Pepper as a drink choice and that has been really hard to find here. I've seen more Pepsi products than anything. I ordered 3 kids meals. They charged for 4 kids drinks. Starry soda is clear, they gave me clear drinks, ok assumed it was what was ordered. Got home and it was carbonated water, not Starry. My first runza in the 5.5 years I've lived here! I got their original runza with a side of crinkle cut fries and frings (French fries and onion rings). I didn't think I would like it because most of my friends don't really care for it, but I turned out actually liking it! The beef is well seasoned and the cabbage and onions cooked to a silky tenderness. There was an equal ratio of meat to veggies, but being a veggies girl, I would've preferred more in there. And the cheese really completes the baked roll. I especially loved their ranch dressing and couldn't get enough of it! I even dipped my runza in there with each bite. I'm not a big fan of ranch dressing but kudos to Runza for making me fall head over heels for their ranch dressing. For $4 you get a pretty decent sized roll that left me feeling content. My friend was stuffed after finishing hers and left me to finish the fries. The onion rings weren't impressive, I've had better from the CHI hospital cafeteria. I stood in the online order area and no one addressed me so I then stood in line to talk to the cash register person and then wait another 10 minutes for the food. From a fast food perspective, I am definitely a Runza fan. I don't eat a lot of fast food in general, but Runza is heads and shoulders above your normal top 3 burger chains. Thier 'Runza' sandwich is an original and a favorite of many. We have friends who always want a 'Runza' when they come into town. On a recent visit to this location near 72nd and Pacific, I walked in the door and realized I hadn't been inside this building since it was a Bronco's location, oh, a decade+ ago. I have to say Runza spiffed it up real nice. Anyway, I was feeling adventurous and ordered two Southwest Runza sandwiches. The staff was great, as they weren't currently on the menu at the time, and made them fresh for me anyway. In the end, however, I realized the weird spicy mayo-sauce and tortilla chip crumbles don't go so well when baked inside a wad of dough. No wonder they weren't on the menu, ha. Next time I'll stick with the classic Runza - ground beef, onions, cabbage and spices. It's a Nebraska classic. I just wanted to give a shout out to Brad, who works at the front counter. My family and I go to Runza every other week on a Thursday or Friday for lunch. Brad is always there, with a smile on his face, very pleasant and friendly. If someone in our group is missing, he notices and will ask about them. Runza, for those of you not from Nebraska, is a local obsession for some, just another fast food joint for others. Their Runza sandwiches are essentially ground beef, onions, and cabbage surrounded by home-baked dough. They have a few variations, including one with swiss and mushrooms that is pretty good. Because you can essentially only get them in Nebraska, they have some elusivity, and they really hit the spot at a cold Husker game. For a fast food place, Runza is pretty solid. The food is overpriced, in my opinion, but they are better than many other fast food joints. The prices are comparable to Sonic. I had the Mushroom & Swiss Runza, which was really good, especially when dipped in their house made ranch. The ranch is the highlight of Runza. I tried the French onion sauce and it wasn't my favorite, but the ranch? Wow. Just wow. I would probably go back to Runza just for the fries and ranch once in a blue moon.
