When I saw their catfish sandwich on Instagram, I knew that was what I was going to have for dinner that night! I was not disappointed. The fish was perfectly crispy and even my husband who is not a fish person thought it was great. The sweet potato bun was a great addition to this sandwich! Perfect flavor and did a great sweet and savory balance. The one thing I will say is, I wish the sandwich didn't have so much sauce. It made it a little soggy by the end but, that's on me for not eating fast enough, hah.
This was my second time at Dirty Birds and it absolutely delivered again. The food is consistently on point. We shared the Omahawt wings and Deeb O Rings and everything came out hot flavorful and exactly how it should be. You can tell they care about doing things right and not just riding hype. The Old Fashioned deserves special mention. Easily one of the best I've had anywhere. Smooth well balanced and a little unique thanks to their use of sarsaparilla concentrate. It works. Great food solid drinks and a place that stays consistent on repeat visits. That's what keeps me coming back and I'll definitely be back again.
My goodness this place had it going on! Met a wingman for a work week lunch and grabbed a seat at the bar. The woman next to me says out on the blue to me 'Son, I'm from Georgia and you need to order this here Debbie chicken sandwich'. Now I don't believe in coincidence, so I did exactly that. The Deboe is substantial, this thing has presence on the plate when it comes out (note, it was cut in half)! Freshly baked bread, housemade pickles, a kiss of hot honey and the quality of the fried chicken breast is lights out. Juicy, flavorful, perfect crunch - I know you get it when I'll summarize with all the things. Efficient and kind servers are ready go take your order and ensure you leave full and happy. Check them out in the downtown 402!
I've put off coming to the new location at the Flatiron for too long, and I really regret it! What an awesome location and they're still serving up excellent food. I came by to try their burger and I was blown away! The burger was perfectly assembled - two smashed patties, bacon. The house pickles are phenomenal and really elevated the burger, alongside the house made black sesame seed buns. I can't wait to come back for my next one! Also, I can't say enough good things about the staff - they're always so nice and conversational, and they really make the restaurant feel welcoming!
Omaha is home to several restaurants visited by the Mayor of Flavortown but Dirty Birds is by far one of my faves. You'll have to watch the episode to get the words from the man himself. Previously in the Switch Food Hall, Dirty Birds claims the ground floor on the Flatiron Building...so you've got prime people watching on two sides and 3 times the parking opportunities. Walking distance from the Children's Museum and the Magnolia Hotel; and not too far of a jaunt if dining before a show at The Orpheum. Nobody who works here is a non-believer. I played it safe on the OG Chicken Sandwich but it didn't stop them from trying to pitch me a braver option. Food is fast...hot...and full of flavor. Never a dull visit. Skip lunch if coming for dinner...you're not leaving hungry. Or leaving with a big to-go box. Lots of flavor, a moderate amount of sass and edge; unique to the core. A must for out of town guests and Food Royalty.

There is so much hype surrounding this place. Finally, I decided to try it for myself...and...it's 100% NOT overrated. The service was great, the location is in the beautiful flatiron building, and a lovely outdoor patio with parking accessible. And with all that said, the food surpasses all. I got the Debo sandwich and a side of onion rings. I took the risk of taking it to-go and driving 20 minutes home before eating it. I was expecting a juicy soggy bun by the time I could eat it and I was so wrong. This magical creation somehow was still perfectly in tact after travel. The sauces were JUST enough, the flavors are almost indescribable and that chicken was crisp and juicy at the same time. Onion rings are some of the best in Omaha, and they do not skimp on the side of ranch, hallelujah. I'm not sure what sorcery happens behind the scenes at this spot but please do not stop. My only complaint is the limited hours. I have since then tried to return and both times were halted by their hours. Closed Monday and Tuesday and only open til 3pm on Wed and Sunday. We consumers says oof - that's rough to plan around.

I really need to bring Dirty Birds into my regular rotation because I LOVE it. I typically get their normal chicken sandwich which is amazing on its own, this time I added Debo sauce from the table (I couldn't remember if it was too spicy for me) and quickly got hooked. The Debo sauce has just the perfect amount of heat, but not too much for anyone scared away by spicy foods - I love that it's on the tables so you can try for yourself if you're nervous. The fries are also tasty and though the food is a little expensive, depending on how much food you eat, you're most likely going to have a second meal to eat as leftovers. Could not recommend any more!!
I ordered the Omahawt because it sounded spicy. I loved the Nashville flavor and as I'm not usually a fan of mayo, I was happy to see that it was lightly applied. I really, really liked the pickled green beans that came on the sandwich. They were yummy! I have to say that these sandwiches are HUGE. Be prepared to use a knife and fork. We also ordered a side of Jalapeño slaw which was delicious. All in all great food. The only drawback was the wait time for our food, which they warned us about.

The wife and I had been trying to eat at this place a number of times, but up to now we had more been successful. We decided to try again on Thursday this week and found that it was actually open and not super packed with customers, which had not been the case our previous attempts. Went inside to order and the staff was super friendly, as they handed us the menus. The ambiance was a lot like a diner, with bench seating tables and high chairs, did not see any booths, but it's was clean, bright and open. My wife ordered the pancakes and chicken, I had the debo sandwich with potato salad and the slaw. From the comments I was hearing from my wife, the pancakes were amazing, with fruit inside them and a light syrup, the chicken was crisp and juicy, much to her liking. My sandwich was outstanding, it was huge and flavorful, the chicken was also very crunchy and the homemade pickles complemented it well. The sandwich also had a sweetness from the honey vinegar cayanne sauce with just a bit of heat too. The potato salad was delightful, now sweet but really good flavor and had hard boiled eggs in it, you don't get that very often any more, and the slaw was a bit sweet and tart with the pickled onions and pickled jalapeños, and some added crunch from sunflower seeds. It was a bit pricy, but the food was fantastic... Worth the price and worth the wait. Monster portions, we took the left overs home and get to enjoy it again tonight. read more
Wow! I got here early and there was a line and a wait. And for good reason! What a great chicken spot! I got 3 tenders and onion rings. It was a ton of food! The tenders were probably the best I have ever had! Large, juicy, and perfectly breaded. With some refreshing pickled veggies and watermelon on the side! The Ranch and Honey mustard were great with them also. The onion rings were huge and very tasty. Service was great. Food was phenomenal! Not fast food though. It may be a wait. Without question the best execution and most expertly delivered chicken sandwich I have ever seen. The texture, cooking temp, moisture and presentation were all Michelin level stuff. No joke. These guys aren't playing around. I got the Omahawt and I'll be honest, the spice template and flavor profile wasn't what I was expecting. It had some smoky and almost bbq traces to it, not the sharp/sweet Nashville profile I was anticipating. That being said, undoubtedly the best technique and presentation I've ever seen of a chicken sandwich. I'd skip the green beans personally but hey, it's unique. read more
Run don't walk to Dirty Birds. Parking can be tough around lunch, but whatever it takes to get here is well worth it. If it is busy, there will be a wait. Again, it is worth it. We had the OG sandwich, onion rings, fries and fried pickles too. A couple beers and a drink made our wait go fast. The menu is wild, I can not wait to try them all. The drink menu is just as wild as the food. We tried the ReGRETAble (made by Greta) and the Full BS too. Both of these handmade cocktails tasted Awesome. The chicken sandwiches are massive, juicy and tasty too. The onion rigs could not be any lighter, the batter is delicious. There was plenty of each item we ordered. It was all so dang good. The service was great and they are quick to ask about your meal and answer any questions. The pickles, I almost forgot about the best fried pickles that I have ever had. Get the pickles and be patient. It is worth it. Dirty Birds is my new favorite in Omaha. read more

Had dirty birds tonight! Love this place ! Operated and owned my fellow Roadies! They were busy tonight which makes me happy for them. About a hour wait but it went by quickly. Oh yum!!! My kids took us here while visiting. The hush puppies were out of this world!!! The fried pickles, fantastic. And the OG chicken sandwich was the best I've ever had. The service was fine. Lots of people. Small Place but the ambiance was fantastic. Wish they had merchandise. Would buy for sure. Can't wait to go back. read more
It took me way too long to get to Dirty Bird's for the first time. The inside is very nice & fun. You could even play video games on the bar TV! Super friendly & helpful service. Order at the bar, and they'll bring it out to you. Portions are large!!! But it is pricey especially if you're buying a pop or beer to drink. If you're taking home leftovers for the next day, the money is worth it in my opinion. This was some high quality chicken. The Deebo sauce is a must if you like some extra flavor & sauce. The onion rings were also delicious. BUT THE HUSH PUPPIES were the star of the show!!!!! - fried sweet tea brined tenders - blue corn hush puppies - onion rings Definitely coming back for the big chicken sandwiches!!!! read more

First, the most important thing...the food. I thought it was great. I had the OG sandwich. I'm not into fried chicken, but this was really good. A puffy Brioche bun was the foundation for a whopping big, crispy and juicy chicken tender with pickles and mayo. Of course I cut it in half and took part of it home. I shared onion rings with Big Bro, which were a standout since they were crispy with just the right amount of batter. Big Bro had a margarita to start, which looked really dinky to me for the $12 price. He liked it, about three swallows and it was gone. He ordered buttermilk waffles which had two fried chicken tenders, vanillabean berry syrup, macerated berries, créme fraîche and powdered sugar. He said it was delicious. He did say,though, that he would have liked just good, old-fashioned fried chicken but didn't see it on the menu until after the fact. The place is a small awkwardly shaped room which is natural given the shape of the building. I think they are going for a specific "vibe", which means eat and get going. Somewhere I saw a sign that said fast food, but it isn't. We were warned when we walked in that it would be 45 minutes to an hour before we would eat since everything is prepared to order. I was glad to get the heads up and we elected to stay. It was maybe 1/2 hour to get our rings to start. The seating is also meant to get diners out the door. Very sturdy, possibly custom built wood plank tables and benches aka picnic table style are not comfortable. But they are heavy so no one will tip off a bench. There was at least one high top table with metal chairs, but those didn't look comfy either. It was very loud with two big TVs going with sports eliciting cheers at times. There is creative spelling on the menu, maybe by design. If I go there again, I will pick a time when they aren't so crowded. The food is excellent but the vibe isn't for me. read more

Wow--what a fun spot! Dirty Birds is way more than just a fried chicken restaurant. The menu is creative, house-made, and still crowd-pleasing. It's usually busy with counter ordering and community-style seating, which adds to the energetic vibe. The staff is upbeat and clearly passionate about what they do. We loved Sunday brunch--generous portions, so come hungry or plan to share! read more

First of all the ambiance as you enter chill laid / back vibe with lots of plants & awesome art on the walls Then you're immediately greeted by the welcoming friendly staff. I immediately felt at home and knowing I chose a great place to eat while visiting Omaha. My family and I loved the killer fried chicken!! The juiciest most mouthwatering chicken I've ever experienced! The batter has this amazing delicious ingredient I can't pin point but I was amazed!! So I ordered the fried green tomato sandwich! Just equally amazing! I had never previously ever tried a fried green tomato before so I figured, why not? So glad I did! It was a flavor explosion in your mouth! From the freshly baked bun to the cheese, the bacon, fried egg... tomato ... it was nothing short of incredible! This sandwich was so huge!!!! I could have easily shared all the servings were large to be honest. Thank you for making amazing food Dirty Birds! read more
