Lived here 4 years and had never been to Rupert's before. I had however heard that 'Thai' night was very good. I made a reservation for my wife's birthday at 7.15pm. Not even a late time...So we got there and was offered the house menu. I queried about the Thai food, only to be told that there was soup left and everything else had gone, and that in the future if we wanted Thai we should get there earlier!! This is 7.30pm at night, come on seriously. And judging by other reviews on here this isn't a one off. Rupert's learn a lesson...Don't advertise Thai night if you only have food for half the night! read more

I follow Ruperts on Instagram. Their amazing pictures have made me want to eat here for a very long time. Everything finally worked out and we had early reservations on valentine's day. It was a special menu. We were promptly seated, given the menu...and then completely forgotten about. Wait staff walked by..no eye contact..people who arrived after us, were being served their first course. . Finally got the attention, explained we hadn't been greeted or served...Chris, our waiter, said he wasn't told to serve us???? What? So, appitizer comes. Fine. Quite a bit later salad and then entree. My husband had to ask for a soda refill. My medium well steak was raw. Sent it back. And then waited and waited...my husband has now finished dinner. Finally my dinner comes back. When we arrived one couple was seated and one arrived after us. The couple who arrived first were still waiting for their salads!! The couple who arrived last made comments about how they got served before us. Worst service ever!!! But overall the most disappointing thing was the food wasn't good. It was just so so. The steak was chewy. This was a special menu where the chef is supposed to put their best forward. I'm so bummed and disappointed. We ate at Salmon River Brewing and had a much better dinner and experience...for half the price!!! read more

So, I make a reservation for three people and requested the table next to the window so we could enjoy a beautiful summer view of the gorgeous lake. I get to the restaurant 15 minutes ahead of our reservation and notice that the table I had requested is open. We are so excited. A lady comes in behind me and while the hostess was talking to me she shifted her attention to this lady that came in and ignored me. The lady cuts in front of me talks to the hostess and then proceeds into the dining room. I then get back to talking to the hostess and tell her who I am and then get informed that the table I requested is already reserved. After informing her I requested that table and was not told that it was already reserved, she tells me the owner asked for the table this evening so she gets whatever she wants and that was her that interrupted me and cut in front of me. HOW RUDE. Our meal was not that great and we still did not even get a window table. The three of us will not be back. read more

Exceptional experience! We went for my mother's birthday and each of us had a different thing so we could each taste the others'. Mom got the halibut, I got the skirt steak, one of my sons got the BBQ ribs and my other son got the grass-fed burger. We were all very happy with our meals. We love to belly up to the bar wherever we go. Rupert's bar seats 4-5. Great convo w bartenders and staff, lovely ambiance and super cozy. Drinks are good and food is delicious. Restaurant is a little loud (all good chatter tho) but if you are like me and a bit hearing challenged or if you like it a bit more quiet then hang out at the bar and have some fun! read more

Great, seasonal food and very friendly with my daughter. The menu is fairly limited, but they had a fantastic vegetarian option.

We ate here again this year, and loved it! I had the half roasted chicken and pear martini which I highly recommend. The creamy mushroom risotto is another must try! read more

Started with artichoke asiago crostine. Very good but bread seemed day old .Kind of hard to bite through. House salad was a mixed green with apples and blue cheese with a cranberry vinagrette. Very fresh and delicious. Hubby had beef tenderloin which was perfectly cooked and had tasty mashed potatoes. Unable to discern the flavor in the potatoes, we asked Nick, our polite and friendly waiter what it was. He said it was cheddar and garlic. Yum. I had the duck which came in a huckleberry/cranberry sauce with brown rice and asparagus. The view is overlooking the new park area near marina. The city did a very nice job on that area. Very pedestrian friendly. It was a nice evening and we enjoyed it very much. Now it's back to camp to make a rip-roaring fire. AAh! What more can you ask for. read more

Food was delicious and service was friendly. It's very easy to make a meal of shared plates to enjoy the variety of menu offerings.

Such a delightful town and a wonderful view restaurant but the service was extremely poor. Sorry to complain but it was slow, dinner was just ok and not anything special. We were served dinner by another server and no one ever came to ask if we needed anything. At the time of payment, we were then asked about dinner, the bill had someone else's order on it. Wish we had wondered around town for another spot. I hope Rupert's takes this review into consideration to improve as it would be a nice spot but they have to invest in Service! read more

Had dinner last night there. It took over an hour to get our food and was left sitting there with empty glasses. I had to get up and ask for water. When our food came the shrimp scampi was barely luke warm and had no sauce on or buttery flavor at all. But was dry unseasoned noodles with plain shrimp. The broccoli had barely been cooked and was still crunchy. My husbands filet that he ordered medium was rare and the mashed potatoes were also not warm enough. The people next to us had the same exact experience and were complaining to their waiter. Way overpriced as well. Really disappointing because it's a beautiful restaurant with an amazing view of the lake. read more

I've been to Ruperts several times now. Every time hoping it will be as good as many people say. Again I was very disappointed last Sat night. Extremely slow service and bland, nothing special food. When the service took so long I took notice that the restaurant was not busy at all. Not sure what the problem was, but service is poor 60% of the time. I ordered the Shrimp Scampi Pasta and it was bland. I could have easily done better myself at home. One guest that was with us ordered the Salmon and said it was dry. Bottom line... I really don't think i"ll be going back. read more

Living here in McCall you would think that the restaurant would want to ensure that locals, who are able to frequent the property on a regular basis, would have their reservation requests taken care of. Instead they have found excuses the last three times we have attempted to make sure we had a window seat. The last time was to celebrate our anniversary and using "open table" to make the reservation we walked in and saw several window tables with "reserve" signs on them. As we were being lead to a table NOT at a window we asked why we weren't being seated as our reservation requested and trhe manager said "we get multiple requests for window and we can't take care of all of them." Understand that they require you to use "open table" to book reservation so they should never be over booked. I attempted to discuss my concern with the manager but my wife told me she had spent her last "dime" there. We usually spend $100.00 for the two of us and as high as $300.00 when we have guests. My wife is a CEO and has more patience than I do, so when she said she is done it is final. While the food is okay, we like Steamers much more. Rest assured that Rupert's will never be recommend to anyone and when my wife entertains clients it is never at this property. Hopefully the family will take notice. read more

We have eaten at Rupert's numerous times and have always had a great meal, so it seemed like a great idea to go for Valentines dinner. We were very disappointed in the "special"menu for the night, which included a sharable appetizer, salad or soup, main dish and sharable desert for $50.00 per person. My wife is gluten free and allergic to shell fish. When I made the reservation through OpenTable, I left a note regarding this. The special menu was VERY limited, there were no appetizers, one main course and one desert that she could have. We both ordered the steak and shrimp, with her shrimp on a separate plate so I could eat them. The steak was identified on the menu as bacon wrapped tender steak, so we specifically asked our server if it was tenderloin, which she assured us it was. When it arrived at the table, it was clear this was not a tenderloin steak, then after trying a few bites it was clear there was nothing tender about it. The dessert we could have was chocolate creme brule, which we had never had so thought it would be good to try. It seemed like a dish of chocolate pudding with a caramelized sugar top, again disappointing. I know they were busy that night, and I'm not one to make a scene about the meal. Had I known about the limited menu I would have gone elsewhere. I know Rupert's can produce great food and I will give them another try, I was just disappointed in the Valentines dinner experience. read more

This place is one of the few fine dinning spots in McCall. The food and service are usually good and the location and ambiance is great. The challenge they have is getting the food and service all hitting high marks at the same time. We recently booked a reservation for a Friday night at 7:15 via Open Table. We arrived on time and were greeted and quickly seated. Water and menus arrived and then we started to wait and then wait some more for a server. After 20 minutes I walked over to a waiter that I thought might be ours and asked her to please send a server over to our table. A few minutes later, our waiter arrived and instead of apologizing as we would have appreciated he stated that no one had told him we were his table. After waiting 20 minutes, his comment didn't really help us get back into the right vibe. But for the food: the brussel sprouts appetizer was great. The beet salad was also a stand out. My wife enjoyed her Filet and I found my salmon to be a over cooked and on the dry side. With limited choices we will continue to visit Rupert's and hope that they continue to work on the experience. read more

Unfortunately we were not able to try Rupert's- We had reservations for dinner, and after sitting at our table for over 20 minutes, we walked out. Not once did someone come by and ask for our drink order, much less our dinner! We talked to the manager on our way out, and he got argumentative and raised his voice at us, at a very small attempt to get us to stay. Very disappointed :( We were excited to try Rupert's, I doubt we will try again. read more

Was there this past week. Cannot say enough good things about our server Monique. She was knowledgeable, responsive and good fun. My husband had the venison meatballs and the Steelhead which I think was a special. Both were delicious. I had the white mac and cheese as an appetizer and the filet. Mac and cheese could have been a little cheesier but the steak was wonderful and perfectly prepared. Monique was gracious and accommodating of my special requests and even brought our desert with one of those giant flaming candles when she learned we were celebrating our anniversary. We enjoyed the views of the lake and watched a crazy guy with a parachute and some kind of motor fly all around the lake district. All in all, a wonderful night in McCall and I would highly recommend them. read more

A mediocre restaurant is one thing, but a supposedly great restaurant that treats people like this? Unacceptable. New year's eve, and also my birthday: (1) No notice that it was a prix fixe menu. (2) Incompetent hostess seats the two of us at a table for four, then halfway through our salads informs us that they mis-seated us, would we move? Starts moving our silverware before we agreed and half-hearted apology follows. (3) Seconds after we get our salads situated at our new table, our waiter arrived with our dinners and plops our plates on our table with "Looks like we're fast tonight!" (4) Despite two mentions, no offer to help celebrate our special event. (5) We were shuffled out of there in 43 minutes from start to finish. I would have stopped to tell a manager or the hostess about our complaints, but none were to be found. Our salads were good, steaks were fine, though honesty, overcooked. The waiter did comp a round of drinks, but only after seeing we were visibly displeased. Our meal the previous night at Steamers was AMAZING, the service was impeccable, and the manager popped by to check on us and chat. I wish we'd just gone there again. read more

Ok, so, we only had dessert but we walked in at closing time and they gave us a great table overlooking the water and served us as we we were the first customers of the day.
