Worst store ever! Nothing is marked and you have no idea what anything costs. It's all a mess. The workers are somewhat friendly.

Southern Indiana Equipment (SIE) is a large lawn equipment dealer. They currently have two…read morelocations, the original location in Lanesville IN and their newer location in Sellersburg IN. They not only sell lawn equipment, they also repair equipment. SIE's main business is selling and servicing Zero Turn lawn mowers as well as lawn tractors. SIE sells everything from residential mowers to big commercial mowers that can sell for several thousands of dollars. I had bought a zero turn mower from SIE 11 years ago at their original Lanesville location which was before they opened the Sellersburg store. After over 10 years of mowing grass, my zero turn frame broke. While I wasn't happy about what I thought was going to be a major repair, I understood mechanical things don't last forever. I have taken excellent care of my mower and had expected it to last at least a couple more years. I went to SIE to do two things, get an estimate for repairing my mower, and look at new mowers and prices. I spoke with Steve a repair mechanic, about my mower and the break. Steve said they'd seen this type of break before and he could fix it without too much trouble and cost. Steve gave me a rough estimate of what it would cost. I was pleasantly surprised that the repair cost wasn't as much as I was expecting. The only hang up is the shop is so busy, Steve said he might not be able to get to the repair for a week! Steve did promise he would get it fixed as soon as possible but he couldn't guarantee anything. I made arrangements to have them come pick up my mower and get in line to get my mower repaired. SIE picked up my mower 1st thing the next morning. Within 2 days Steve repaired my mower and for the very cost he estimated when we spoke. My mower was returned to me very quickly and I'm back to mowing with my old mower. Very happy with their repair cost and service. IF I decide to buy a new zero turn in the future, SIE will be the first people I check with. The ONLY reason I didn't give them 5 stars is nobody in the facility was/is wearing mask nor social distancing. This all happened prior to the latest guidance on mask wearing by CDC.

I wanted some general maintenance done on it to make sure it was in tip top shape. The previous owner bought it from Southern Indiana equipment and had them maintain it. When I took it in they took the time to look up what had previously been done on that mower so they didn't try to charge me for things that didn't need to be done. To me that was very impressive. Even more impressive was that when I dropped it off and picked it up two different guys took the time to show me some things about my mower, what to look for if something isn't working right and some general tips to make it last longer. I also thought the prices on the parts were extremely reasonable. They could have charged me twice the price for spark plugs, filters, and a couple other things and I wouldn't have thought anything of it. I felt that their customer service was way above normal customer service. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to buy or maintain a riding mower. I also own a cub cadet riding mower and they said they work on all types of mowers so anytime I need maintenance done on either machine I will be taking it there. Thanks for the great service

So we hauled it in there and eventually it was "fixed" @$900. I say eventually because their service repairman decided that he was sick and would be back in a week. He left our mower undone and no one knew where all the screws went. We drove the 45 minutes into Seymour to pick it up. Brought it home at the PTO didn't work. Called Jay and he said that they would come get it and return it. Called a week later as I had not heard from him and he said "could we come pick it up it would be another $300". So we did. Fast forward to today and the belt is broken and the PTO isn't working.

Both mowers were to have basic services provided. Oil, air filter and so on. I took them there late in the winter. My thought process was that I would beat the rush before mowing season. When I dropped the mowers off, it was 15 minutes before closing time. They close at 5 and that was the soonest I could drop them off during the week. When I walked in, everyone seemed done for the day. Standing around talking, which I don't have a problem with. What I did have a problem with is that I had to approach a couple of employees chatting to get anyone to help me. A few weeks went by and I called to check on the mowers. Wait another week I was told. A week and a half later, I received a call stating they were ready. I picked up the mowers and the price was a two hundred plus dollars. No sharpening of the blades was done. Just an oil change, new spark plug and air filter. No sharpening of the blades which I thought was part of it. When I questioned the bill, I was giving a very vague answer. So I asked what their hourly service rate was and was told $100 an hour ! Wow, wasn't expecting that. Well, it at least they should run very well for the season I thought to myself. Unfortunately, I was wrong. The Toro would start, run for 10 seconds, then stop. The Cub Cadet electric starter still wasn't working. I forgot to mention this in the post. I asked them to look at it, because it stopped working after 2 years. I purchased it brand new. So I took the mowers back the next day. Explained my situation and was referred to a guy the called Push Rod. He told me that the Cub Cadets electric starter conks out after a couple of years. There was nothing he could do. I was shocked because a rarely used it. I just use the pull cord. Then he tried the Toro. Said it was probably a problem with the carburetor and it wasn't worth fixing. I told him that was to bad because it was my dad's mower and he since passed. He said " well if it is sentimental, you can always put it on a shelf." Lovely guy . I then asked Push Rod if they even started the Toro because of the issue I was having. He said " we must have. What's to say it wasn't running fine and developed the problem once you got it home." Again, lovely individual. I told him I live a mile and a half away. I highly doubted that something occurred in that short drive. I I tried starting it as soon as I unloaded it. So I called an old neighbor of mine who works on mowers. He cleaned the carburetor and adjusted the pacing for me as well. Charged me $25 dollars to do so. I am now using the Toro again.

As I'm sipping my delicious wine, I find that my mind is drawn to one important thought: This Ollie's Bargain Outlet that I visited in Clarksville two months ago would have been greatly improved if they sold wine. Ollie's doesn't sell wine (or any alcohol, for that matter). Too bad! But if you're in the market for discounted boxes of Hungry Jack mashed potatoes, bird feeders, comforter sets, off-brand slider storage bags, water guns and neoprene gloves, Ollie's is your store. There's a lot of stuff everywhere, and honestly, it's a little overwhelming. Ollie's takes a page from the Aldi playbook: There are just ripped open boxes of items on the shelves. To heck with aesthetics -- Ollie's is too busy saving you money to fiddle around with arranging items on a shelf nicely. I stopped in to get some lotion, and wouldn't you know, I could only find one bottle of lotion in the whole store. It wasn't a brand that I would have normally bought, but you can't be picky at Ollie's. You get what you get or you can get the eff out. Visiting Ollie's is like participating in a treasure hunt. You don't know what you'll find, or if you'll find anything at all. But it's worth a shot to stop in and try.
