Rushing Waters is in the brook trout business, raising them for restaurants, stores, and consumers. Some of the more hospitable and helpful people in the service industry that I can recall in recent years. They furnish you with a pole, bait, and bucket for your catch, the pond is a short walk down from the parking lot. No fishing license is required! We took in 8 over the span of a couple of hours, had half of them merely cleaned, and half fileted, as I wanted to try different cooking methods when I got home. Did the whole fish over charcoal, the filets on the flattop griddle. Both preparations were excellent. We will definitely return. Fun day! Open seven days, and year-round, I believe. We came here for the first time for their Friday fish fry. It was by far the best fish fry we've had!! We both had the trout which came with a delicious cheddar biscuit and potato pancakes that were crispy and cooked to perfection. The staff was so friendly both in the store and at the bar. The J Henry old fashioned was great too. The grounds are pretty and the trout pond is fun to watch. We will definitely be back! read more

Rushing Waters trout is as fresh as it gets! Fish are literally swimming when you place your order. In addition to boneless fillets, they offer all sorts of delicious products like salmon burgers and incredible dips. See they recently added soups and chowders to the menu. Can't wait to try those out! Need to comment about the 1-star review. That person obviously does not understand what goes on at this facility. It's a fish farm. You keep what you catch. You can take the fish home whole or pay extra for processing. Would you take a small child to a slaughterhouse? If not, stay away from fish farms as well! read more

I was invited to a weddings at a Fish Farm in Wisconsin, boy what a surprise. Outdoor set up with dinning, dancing and recreation(games) area. We were given a tour of the farm, processing and eating facilities. If you're looking for a seasonally unique area for an event give them a chance. The food was good and prepared. Been there a number of times now. Better half LOVES the trout...in several fashions. Had the shrimp scampi recently...good but not great! BIL and spouse had steaks - you can order steak at a fish place...and loved them. Appetizers also excellent...excellent beer selection of local and midwest beers - decent wines as well. We've shopped here twice and have enjoyed everything. The alaskan king crab was devine. The giant scallops melted like butter in your mouth. i hate to write bad reviews......but my experience here was less than pleasant. Went with my family for a birthday celebration; there were 12 of us and that particular evening there were a lot of other large parties as well. Needless to say, the chef and crew fell behind. no big deal, this happens. However when we did finally get our meal it was tasteless. I ordered a pasta dish with shrimp. The shrimp tasted like the scrapings off a grill. The pasta was dry and the "rosemary/Parmesan sauce" was non existent. My uncle ordered the battered cod and said it was the worst thing he ever ate. Most of us left unhappy. I do also have to mention that someone said the head chef had recently passed away; sad. Not sure if this is true or not. However, will give this place a second chance if that is the case. read more

This was our first time dinning here. I received a gift certificate from my mom who is no longer with us. Hubby and I were cutting out carbs, which sometimes can be difficult eating out. We mentioned it to our server and he suggested alternatives for sides to go with our meals. We tried the seared scallops and cashew crusted halibut. Both were prepared perfectly and an abundant amount of flavor! The veggies, mango chutney and seaweed salad accompaniments were spot on! Also a nice touch was the chef stopping at every table during your meal. Prices while not being cheap were fair in the mid to upper $20's for most items Besides a full menu they offered about 10 specials our waiter Rudy had memorized (impressive) and rattled them off to us with all the pertinent details! This place had wonderful wonderful food and beverages. Our waitress and bartender were very friendly and attentive, but. I have never felt so unwelcomed from the hostess and manager ever. We had a party of 14. We called several times asking if they took reservations. We heard the wait could be very long. A few of us went an hour early to guarantee a table for us. When we arrived. The place had maybe two grouping of people dining. Nobody in front of us in line nor in back of us. We asked if we could have a table set up for our group in an hour. My gosh, the look we got, was like how dare you be here. We felt so unwelcomed. So of course she went to her manager. We could see them talking about us, and obviously not in a good way. Believe me we would have left we would have but we had people coming from all over. When we finally got seated after all the looks we got it was fine. We spent several hundreds of dollar. They were not busy had empty tables so thank goodness we were there. I work at the fireside, we serve hundreds of people at one time and our customers have never been treated like we were. read more

I have to say I'm super sad to leave this review. I have been buying your smoked fish from the farmers market and been out to the farm twice with my kids. They like to come catch the fish. We've been happy till this last time. We came out a week ago and caught close to 10 fish. That's a lot! Our total was about 90 dollars. The staff is great but we had a hard time finding a bucket (no big deal...more of a so what!). After we got home we were excited to make a good fish fry. Our second batch tasted really funky though. The fish had a really odd flavor. I understand each fish is different but almost all of them tasted this way. I've also had enough of your fish to know what they should taste like! Anyways what I'm most disappointed about is that I called your store and was told that I'd be called back about what could be done for us. I'm still waiting and it's been several days. I will no longer be recommending you guys to friends or family. This is sad! I hope you don't treat everyone that doesn't like your product this way! read more

I was expecting a picturesque woodsy setting. But, it is just an ugly flat building next to a big flat wide-open parking lot. And, the trout ponds are just small ponds with a gazillion trout stacked upon each other. There is certainly no feeling of nature or a natural habitat. There is nothing that feels natural about the place. Despite that, we had driven an hour (in two cars with six people - three of the which were family from out of town!) to get there to have a late lunch and a unique experience. We had called ahead (before 2PM) and asked about closing time and were told it was 3PM (just like the sign out front). We specifically asked if we needed to get there by 2:30 and they said, "No, as long as you get here before 3PM, you will be served. " Yet, we showed up at 2:50 and were told, "the kitchen just close two minutes ago." And, "Did you have reservations?!" They were quite unapologetic about it - actually disputing the fact until the culprit eventually admitted it. This could have gone so much better with better customer service. 1. The person that took our phone call could have told us to please get there by 2:45 or they may shut down -- or, "After 2:30, we need a reservation; may I have your name and number?" 2. When we arrived, they could have said, "Oh, we were just closing two minutes ago, -- but since you called ahead, we will make it right and open the kitchen." 3. The girl that took the call could have told the kitchen that someone called asking about serving times and told the kitchen she had promised the kitchen would be open until 3PM. Or, 4. Could have said, "I am sooo sorry, the girl that took your phone call made a mistake... Please, let us give you a coupon for your next visit (30% off, a $50 certificate or some such as reasonable compensation-- seeing as we had wasted an hour of six people's time, $20 in gas and now had six hungry people). Any one of these would have been a reasonable response. Yet, we got a very unapologetic crew in a hurry to get home. What a shame. read more
