He did a great job, at a beyond fair price, & almost too fast! Backstory: I was stupid enough to leave my ring for repair at Russell's without confirming it would be covered by the seller (in India). I owned it 2 weeks - bought overseas- when a prong broke & stone fell out. The jewelry store/seller guaranteed their merchandise & assured they WOULD pay for it to be fixed. But when emailed the quoted price for repair they balked (even though it was reasonable, US prices vs India cost of labour). Russell's was so nice, he had finished the job 2 weeks earlier than I was anticipating (while still arguing with the seller via email), so he negotiated a big discount for me. Needed new batteries for both my Michael Kors watches and didn't need to wait a couple of days to get them back after dropping them off. Ron at Russell's was just the guy I needed. Not only could he take care of the watches in short order but he was refreshingly polite and friendly. Ron changed out the batteries, cleaned up the watches and had them ready for me in no time. These are just about the nicest people imaginable. I'm not a big jewelry buyer. My tastes are pretty simple. But every time I come in, even for something simple like fixing a broken watch band, they're just always really helpful. They also fixed and got running an expensive watch I'd inherited, so that I was then able to sell it on E-Bay. I suppose you might be able to get some generic pieces slightly cheaper online or at abig box store, but for the personal touch and for a store that's anchored in the community you couldn't do better. read more

I've been coming to Russell's for several years now. I've been using them for jewelry repair, restringing of necklaces, and I have also had them create necklaces for me out of stuff I bought at gem fairs and things like that. They are incredibly helpful and the work has always been wonderful. After over 15 years of doing business at Russell's I was very dissapointed and shocked in the last work I had done. I needed my diamond ring sized. Immediately Ron said that the diamond had loose prongs and needed repair. He didn't even look closely at the ring or show me what he was talking about. He said the prongs and sizing would take at least 5 days. When I returned the size was great but it was not the same diamond....it was smaller and didn't shine. I asked Ron about the quality and he jus said so...so...The next day I had an appointment in Bellevue so took my ring to a jewler there who said it was a .6 diamond vs the .9 I had purchased from Coleman jewerly store years ago. I did not have the original paper work since it was purchased in the 80's or 90's. I mentioned it to Ron but of couse he denied the change. Plus I paid $125.00 to be ripped off. If you have any jewelry with stones repaired there be SURE you have the original paper work. I am so Dissapointed. read more

I brought my engagement ring here to have re sized, it came back with a crooked setting. Brought it back to be fixed. I broke a prong and they "fixed" it, but the same broke a week later and after taking it to different jeweler I found out that not only did they do a horrible job on the prong they also cracked my diamond. After bringing this up I received a very hostile response that there is no way they would have done that. But admitted to a rushed job and not much attention was paid when fixing my prong. Russell wouldn't even look at my diamond to try to see if maybe he made an honest mistake. He was so rude. I will never go there again. read more

Went in to get my watch bracelet fitted. The gentleman working behind the counter said he could have in done within an hour. When I came back, it had gone from too loose to too tight. He fixed it right away. The charge was $8. When I handed him my credit card he said they didn't run anything under $20 and just to get him back sometime when I could. That's amazing, who does that now days? Super impressed. Also heard him speaking with another customer who wanted some custom work done. He was very thorough in asking questions and taking notes.
