So later on I came out of my house and saw two huge bags of trash in front of my house, I didn't know who put it there. It has happened before that people drive by and leave their garbage in front of my house. How do I know what is in the bags? Illegal items? Body parts? So I walk down the block, to try to to find out if our neighbors might have done it (because they had a driveway full of garbage and are doing a construction project) but no one answered to door. So I started dragging the bags back to their house. Some guy jumps out of a giant dump truck and asks me what Im doing and yells that he put the garbage in front of our house. I told him I didn't appreciate that, and all he had to do was knock on my door to ask my permission. He responds by getting angry, we exchange words, then here's the shocker: He asked me what country I am from...I responded, I am AMERICAN, but what difference does it make??!? WHAT *EFFING* DIFFERENCE DOES IT MAKE? We were yelling back and forth and finally the main contractor came to calm the situation. All the while he's yelling that I don't own the street....yes that's true, but I am responsible for the trash that's in front of my house. Just ask, I probably wouldn't have a problem. Seriously, we are all citizens of the Earth, I know that sounds tree-hugger or hippie. But what is in these peoples' heads? He didn't look like a Native American to me.

I know I will spend around 7K to 10K could be more. When he checks the leak the leak is not from the foundation. He told me to seal the concrete around the window and sides of the foundation outside. I did it and the leak was fixed. If I called someone else I knew they would do the water proofing even I don't really need it. He's a down to earth person that you can really trust. Because of Roberto I saved that 10K.

He came out on time, was personable, but tried to up-sell me about things I was not interested in at the time. When you have limited income you have to do things as you go in these hard times. No one can make me buy something I didn't ask for or don't want/need. The quote he gave me was very very good. I was pleased with it. He told me he would send me a proposal with all info via email later in the day. As he had to rush to get to other appointments. I had told him based on what we discussed he would get the job. He texted me immediately that the proposal was ready. It was an invoice sent via email for the entire amount. That was hilarious. LOL. In any event, when I looked at the write up, there was no mention of metal reinforcement for the concrete during the form and pour. I need that. We discussed expansion joints and he told me I didn't need them, but I wanted them. He doesn't replace cracked bricks, etc., because he'd have to replace the whole thing. NAH. I've been around and I do my own research and some of what he said made no sense to me. If you give me what I ask for I expect to be charged accordingly. When I hire tradesman and pay out of my pocket it's for what "I" want. Not what you are only willing to do. It's too bad because I think had he agreed to the reinforcement my search for competent, morally intact contractor would have ended with him.

    Great Kills

A few weeks ago, I chose Design Fencing (designfencing@aol.com) to install a new fence in my yard,…read moreeven though I had used another fencing company twice before (I won't name them) to install a fence. They did great work before, and I was very satisfied then, but this time I didn't choose them. I read some recent negative reviews online, and their salesman didn't always get back to me in a timely manner about my quotes and answering my questions. I also asked if his company could repair a gate that needed to be rehung. He told me "No, my company doesn't do repairs. We replace." Well, that was not an answer I wanted to hear. So, I then went and got my second estimate, which was from Design Fencing. Their original quote for my project from Design Fencing was several hundreds of dollars higher, but Michael, their salesman, worked with me on lowering the price to my satisfaction. Michael also told me that his company would be willing to rehang the gate that I wanted to be fixed. Michael was very persistent asking if I had questions or concerns. He sent me frequent updates and texts asking if I had made my decision in choosing a fencing company. He didn't pressure me, but he was persistent in his communication, which greatly impressed me. He sent me a link to check out his company's positive reviews, and he also discussed with me his company's warranty policy. I decided to hire Design Fencing. I gave Michael a deposit of $540.00 to order supplies, and the balance was due after the job's completion. Michael told me that the fence would be put up three to six weeks later, which was fine with me. I paid by check since a credit card payment would incur a charge. The fence was put up within that time frame that we discussed. Joe, a middleman, worked with me on connecting with Anthony, his foreman. Today, Anthony arrived with two or three workers a little after 9 AM, and they were done with the project about 12:10. I was told it would take about three hours, and it did. Before they began, Anthony and I went over what was to be done and to make sure we were both on the same page. He then asked for access to an outdoor electrical outlet and to water to mix cement. The job was completed quickly and efficiently. Anthony and his crew cleaned up and took away an old gate that had been up before that was replaced with a new gate. Anthony was friendly and professional. His workers were also polite and pleasant. Even though Design Fencing's quote was still higher than my first estimate from my previously used company, I decided to go with Design Fencing for their great reviews, warranty, and their great communication with me. I figured the extra money spent was worth it. So, assuming my fence will be sturdy and last for years to come, I greatly recommend Design Fencing!

I didn't think Bianco's did this kind of job but we started working with them years ago (first project: installing pipes and draining system to stop my backyard from becoming a swamp every time it rained and then re-sodding it; second project: lining our walkway and planting flowers/trees in the flowerbed under our bay window) and ever since we've been receiving compliments on our lawn (which we asked Bianco's to maintain because their work is outstanding). Very quickly, Andrew checked out the job and made the whole thing come together. We scheduled the job quickly and it was all done in a matter or maybe 3 days. Bianco's took care of cleaning out under the deck so really there was nothing we had to take care of. Every day the guys cleaned up and at the end the result was beautiful. Once again, collecting compliments from everyone who comes in our backyard. I've written reviews for Bianco's before without being asked to but I've been jaded by businesses that don't deliver what was promised to me so I want to help if someone is lost and looking for a good company to work with. I trust Bianco's fully and will call them first for any project I may have in the future.
