This was not our first time here. We visited once before before seeing a movie across the street. It is a very lovely, cozy local spot for very small batch beer. It is in a small strip mall near a movie theater, bowing alley, arcade, ice skating rink, and several restaurants, so a pretty good spot. They seem to have a small but diverse menu of beers and the prices are very reasonable. They also have a food truck/ trailer that has a small menu. I am not sure when that is open, we only came to sample a few drinks. We had the pumpkin spice. I did not taste any pumpkin or any spice. We had a vanilla porter. While it was dark in color, it was fairly light and did not have a vanilla forward taste. We also tried the caramel apple. That one actually had an aftertaste of an actual caramel apple, so that was the winner. The beers seem to be very small batch, so it is probably different each time. The time before the beers seemed to have a better and stronger flavor. As one of the lesser start review stated, if you are really into beers this place might not be on top of the beer game. On the other hand, for a fun local brewery, you will probably have a good time here. I would not rule out coming back and trying more. We had intended on just stopping in here, grabbing a beer and a tagabrew and moving on to Blue Skies for an 80s party. However, our plans sure did change haha. This was my first time here. When we arrived we thought they were closed. Boy were we shocked when we walked in! It was totally packed! We quickly realized why! TRIVIA!!! Pre pandemic we played trivia at least once a week for the past 9 years! But then the pandemic hit and we have only played a few times since. Apparently this was the first night of trivia returning and the place was bustling with excitement! We found seats at the bar, and settled in for the rest of the evening. They offer Quizzo trivia there. The host was really fun. We checked out the beer list and I was thrilled to see two ambers offered. I ordered the rusty leaf amber and he got the Amber Waives of Grain. We split a bag of cheese its. I must say, not only was the beer amazingly good, the service was fantastic. Both beer tenders were very attentive, personable and fun! I also loved the atmosphere here. There is quite a large outdoor patio if you are wanting to sit outside. The bar area is pretty big. They had a lot of tables and seating. They had some really large tables for big parties as well. The walls are covered in local artists work which you can purchase. They were all very high quality and beautiful! They do not participate in hop passport but we were happy to grab two tagabrews. This was a marvelous evening! Great beer in a small shopping center behind the airport. The food truck has specials that looked great but it was hard to follow which were served on what night because menus weren't updated. Food truck is owned by the brewery but doesn't open until five. Friendly staff but it definitely has the serve locals first vibe. read more

My fiancé and I just moved to the Waterford area in July. We first went to Rustic Leaf after viewing our soon-to-be home and we fell in love. It's tucked away in a shopping plaza, but it seems like everyone knows and loves it. We were so charmed by the brews and Doug, the owner, is so nice. We found out they did trivia at 7:30 on Thursday nights and started going regularly. We now have a team and are part of the Mugless Club! (This is because their mug club is full, but you still get a mug to enjoy your beer from.) They also have an incredible food truck that offers sliders, sides, personal pizzas, apps, and soon there will be dessert. Rustic Leaf definitely makes Waterford feel like home. read more

Why is 5 stars all. The Rustic Leaf food truck deserves way more. In the past we have done wing challenges with our family testing wings from all over Metro Detroit. Hands down the wings tonight were the best we have ever had. Crisp coating and moist chicken that was amazing. We had the Garlic Parm and Honey Siracha and we were amazed at the quality. We stopped into Rustic Leaf a few weeks ago, as we were enjoying a day of beer hopping around. This was my first time at the brewery, even though my friend has been here several time. We found a seat at the bar and the beertender offered us several samples of the beers on tap. He ended ordering a pint and and I ordered the flavored seltzer. We both enjoyed out drinks. They had a food truck outside in case you needed something and it looked like they had food trucks regularly scheduled throughout the month. After many years of driving by, I convinced some guys to meet up here and check it out. I liked the layout of the bar. Rustic is the best to describe it. The lack of food, including snacks is probably why a lot of people don't go. In fact, I have spoken to many that said they don't want to ever go because they know there is no food, and feel the lack of kills the atmosphere. If that changed, RL could probably increase those that come for the beer and socializing ten fold. Now to the beer.... Hate to say it, but nothing really wowed me. Neither the sour or gose we're really sour. The IPA, was as hoppy as a Budweiser, so basically nada. Etc., Etc., Etc. For the other beers as well. The best was the pear strawberry cider, and I never drink cider beers because I don't like them. RL offers 12 different brews and trying them all with a 6 glass flight is easy to do. Each flight is the equivalent of about 2 pints, cost $12 each flight. I think if they got a little bolder with the recipes, the higher end / connoiseurs of craft beer, would frequent this place more, and it could really grow. Include in house food, as simple as burgers, nachos, pizza, baked snack nuts, or something, and you may just have a place I, and many others would frequent. read more

This is such a great addition to Waterford! There are 10 beers on tap, and they're all good. I especially like their gose and their porter. The atmosphere is relaxed. They don't serve food but are food friendly, so you can order delivery or bring food with you. They have TVs for watching sports, a dart board, and a bookshelf full of board games. The music isn't super loud, which I appreciate, because I hate having to shout over music. Everyone was very courteous and attentive. I look forward to hanging out here in the future! read more

You might miss this place, due to the road sign saying just "Brewery" haha but it's set back in a strip mall by a grocery store. We've heard great things about this place so far and we had to stop in - super glad we did! 10 beers on tap with 4 more on deck. There are tons of games on a shelf, darts and a cool bar with plenty of tables too. I got the Go-Zilla which is a ginger hibiscus gose. My boyfriend got a flight with a mix and we liked every single one in there, especially the cider! Perfect amount of sweet and dry. We will definitely be coming back as often as possible! read more

Every time I'm in waterford I stop by for my favorite beer, Toes in the Sand. It is crisp and full of wonderful flavor. The only thing I wish that this place had was beers lower than 6%. Although the beers that are there are delicious I feel like there isn't enough choices. Maybe I miss them when they do have seasonal choices out. The one beer I also love was their coffee stout. Hopefully this place will become bigger and their beers will be sold in stores by me. I know you can buy growlers there and some 4-packs but it is hard getting out to Waterford when there are seasonal beers out. If you want a quiet, calm, relaxing environment while you drink a beer, this is the place for you. And what I like even more is that you can bring your own food. There's a Thai food restaurant close by you can order from or a grocery store you can stop by and pick up snacks. The staff there is friendly and you won't ever be disappointed stopping by. Recently had our wedding reception here, and I honestly can't say enough good things about this establishment. We had enough room for a steel drum band and a caterer on top of all the guests. This is a cute, very comfortable little place. Surprising location in an older strip mall. Good selection of unique brews. The staff was friendly. There are board games and darts. No menu available (it would be nice to offer meat/cheese/cracker plate). But they are food friendly so you can bring your own. We're looking forward to coming back and bringing friends.
