This was the first real meal my husband and I had on our European Honeyversary. It was a great find; I highly recommend this place! There were a few options, but as I was glancing at the menu, I saw someone cooking their own steak on a marble slab. Oh that's where they got the name, now I know! I thought it looked fun, so I looked at that section "on the stone" and found tuna with hazelnuts, coriander, and ginger. I love tuna, and this was delicious! I've decided I want to try to recreate this. The food was delicious and the service friendly. I know some people who would turn up their nose at the idea of cooking the food themselves. They paid for someone else to do it, but I enjoyed the novelty of it. I got to cook it as much as I wanted and when I wanted, so I could enjoy the food. Service appalling, food very much below par. The starter was good however I like my steak medium rare yet when my steak arrived on the stone it was tough. The vegetables were inedible. Desert came I had ordered the poached pair and yet again inedible. My coffee never arrived and I gave up. It was our staff Christmas Dinner so I didn't make a fuss but then the waiter came over and said 230 deposit paid, 730 to pay we need your table please leave. I don't have enough good things to say about Rustic Stone. My fiance and I happened upon this restaurant on a weekend visiting Dublin over the New Year. I'm English, she's American and we live in LA, so we have a pretty good experience of delicious food. Everything about Rustic Stone was great, from the cocktails and food to the service and experience. We tried various cocktails and shared some appetizers, all of which were imaginative and delicious. We had mains on their signature hot stone which were fun and delicious. I have a real sweet tooth and the desserts were to die for. The service was incredibly attentive throughout and the restaurant is ideally located among other central Dublin attractions. It's definitely on the pricier side, but if you're looking for a fancy dinner with delicious food and drinks in Dublin city centre, look no further. read more

Visited this restaurant on the recommendation of our food tour guide. Unbeknownst to us the signature dishes on the menu are brought out on a hot cooking stone, which one uses to complete the cooking process. Therefore the menu is heavy in beef and fish. A must try on the menu are the chicken wings, which can be had as a starter. We also appreciated that many dishes could be ordered in a large or small portions. The were well prepared and tasty. Definitely would recommend a visit. As a side note, there is a very interesting bar/lounge right above the restaurant that is worth a visit. read more

Went in for lunch on a Friday- was pretty empty. Two of us had the pastas and were scraping the bowl- literally. The pappardelle with pork was outstanding- I was debating with another dish bc I didn't think the pumpkin cream sauce sounded appetizing but I'm glad I wasn't dissuaded because it was delicious. Friend had the pesto and a few salads and all were excellent! The drinks here were really good! Tried 4 drinks including a salted caramel martini for dessert which was outstanding! I went here for a late lunch/early dinner with my foodie buddie and as always I stepped in with 5 stars being the aim and work down rather than up. Any hoo, the first thing that hit me was the very very strong smeill of cooking fish which was overpowering. Now, I'm a great fan of seafood but like a lot of people the overpowering smeill of cooking fish is not great for the senses. We both found the menu very confusing and the waiter was rushed and not inclined to assist with choices. We both opted for the shared platter of breads and dips as a starter, tuna and halibut as mains. We ordered the spicy mojito to sip on while we waited for our starter. It was very good but we were well finished before our starter of breads and dips arrived. To say it was pricey for what we got is an understatement. We had enough bread to feed 4 while the dips were on the mean side - portion wise I mean. Onto the mains and we had ordered a side of what we thought was a puree of peas and broad and green beans but was actually just mixed green veg, the potatoes were fine but the tuna was well done even though we had asked for medium. The halibut was meh and quite pricey at 27yo yos. Both were served with salad which wasn't obvious from the menu so we were very confused. At this stage the smell of cooking fish mixed with the smell of steak was so overpowering we had to move outside to get air as I felt ill. So very sorry Rustic Stone I won't be recommending you to anyone unless they want to smell of cooking for the evening, don't mind paying big prices for small portions and adequate service. Rustic has always been a go-to restaurant for me and my family so I'm disappointed to have to write this review. While the food and wait service were to a high standard on our last visit, one of the hostess/managers (woman with black hair) was so rude and unpleasant it really left us all with a bad taste in our mouths. It's disappointing that a restaurant like Rustic would have someone so lacking in customer service skills and so blatantly bad mannered and foul tempered in a front facing role. If you do go to Rustic just hope you don't have an interaction with this aggressive woman. If not, you will probably enjoy your evening. read more

Hmmm, how will I start describing my experience with The Rustic Stone? I've popped my head in here a few times and was always turned away. 'Sorry, we're fully booked'. I'm not the biggest fan of making reservations for dinner upfront unless it's for a bigger group of people so I was bit pee'd off yet intrigued at the same time. Why are they always, always busy? So I booked a table for two for a Sunday evening. The only slot they had was at 8.30pm. Pretty late for a Sunday but hey, we took it. We get there on time, like good diners and got seated next to the till. We will be overlooked here, my dining companion said. And how right he was! 20mins before we could order, another 20minutes and a few 'excuse me's later we were served the drinks we ordered (bottle of wine and 2 glasses of water). A table next to us was filled after us, they already enjoyed their steaks. More than an hour after our reservation we catch a waitress and inform her that we are out of water and still waiting for our food. She interrupts and says she'll send someone. But what she did instead was enquiring in the kitchen about our order only for our mains to come out about 15mins later. Well, we didn't even had our starters and if she wouldn't have interrupted us, they wouldn't have needed to waste a perfectly good steak and a huge piece of tuna now. So the food leaves again and finally a manager comes over to apologize about the kitchen mishap. Well, it wasn't just a kitchen mishap, none of their waiting staff felt responsible for our table, no one checked on us at all. We were starving, thirsty and already considered tweeting them to send some service our way. It was very close to 10pm at this stage. She re-took our order and kept apologizing. We were so hungry and it was getting close to my bed time. The restaurant is getting emptier and emptier. We eventually get our starters and some bits extra. I couldn't tell you what cause it was just put there for us without explanation. Both starters are really really nice. The mains (steak and tuna) arrive in due course, both were fine. Exactly what you expect from steak and tuna that's cooked on a stone. Bit short on flavours but you are in charge of how long you want it cooked for. The manager checks on us and whether we are happy with our food. She also offers the complete meal for free to make up for their errors. She is genuinely sorry and I appreciate her gesture. We spent 4 days in Dublin recently and this was the food highlight of the trip. We had heard great things, so went all out with 3 courses (when in Rome!). The starters were amazing but the mains were what really impressed; we ordered 'on the stone' and my tuna and my boyfriends steak were served just so - on a hot stone, so we could finish the cooking to our personal preference! It was amazing (I couldn't believe how hot it stayed too!) The sides (bacon lentils and sweet potatoes) were so, so yummy. I had to go for dessert too as I had heard about their infamous 'chocolate soup' and it was as good as I'd hoped - it was poured at the table and considering it is raw and refined sugar free it tasted bloody wonderful. Rustic Stone's steak was sublime. Had a T-Bone for two (not all to myself). Came out sealed and sizzling on a hot stone- served with sides of a basil and hazelnut pesto, beurre parisien, chervil and anchovies. Deliciously moreish , oozing with umami, and oh, so, satisfying. My visit to Rustic Stone was somewhat serendipitous. Selected by my father, it was an eatery that we had earmarked for some months now and so I was more than eager to see what Dylan McGrath had on offer. Unfortunately, this famous name in the Irish celebrity chef circle didn't quite live up to my sky high expectations, having heard McGrath rhapsodized for his flagship restaurant, Mint. Nonetheless the food was, well, interesting. I wasn't privy to the vibrant uniqueness of RS until I was seated in a booth reading the more than extensive menu. I really enjoyed the fact that you can, to use a worn out platitude, be 'naughty or nice' in your food selection, a prominent feature of the menu. I decided to be naughty.... life is too short, and order the burger which sounded most intriguing. I wasn't disappointed. It is said that you eat with your eyes, if this is the case, the aesthetics of the dish were ineffable - and yes, I am talking about a burger here. Burger atop a slab of slate, atop a thick piece of wood. The fries were particularly endearing, made purely from polenta, cut broadly and served in their own glass petri dish nestled beside some sort of horseradish. The burger itself had been bisected, it looked like a science experiment... one of the very few I was more than willing to delve into. The burger was fascinating, layered with onion, rocket, tomato and a preponderance of different flavours that danced a jaunty jig on the pallet. While this was the highlight of the meal, it was also it's downfall. A dish so simple was made overly convoluted and fussy, While I appreciated the effort that went in, there was just far too much going on in terms of flavour which overwhelmed the burger and marred it to an extent. The polenta fries were light and crispy with a distinct flavour which was truly satisfying. The dining room is vast, immersed in rich browns and greens and is a pleasant place to be with it's dim, cosy lighting and the wooden spatulas which jauntily hang from the windows. Another criticism I would have is the price which is rather extortionate but that's what you get when there is a michelin star chef at the helm. While Rustic Stone would be as wanton as the revered Mint, it is trendy and laid back, an atmosphere not offered by many top quality establishments in Dublin's city centre. read more

I had dinner in Rustic Stone tonight as part of a team night out. A lot of people have already described the venue so I'll simply comment on what matters the most to me when I eat out: food and service. I found that the menu is like a car salesman, it talks so much that you get suspicious. When each item is followed by 300 characters description, I tend to think of it as a smoke screen. Also, I appreciate how a chef puts in a lot of himself in his food, but the comments from Mr McGrath are really unnecessary. I don't like being lectured when I choose my courses. I like being seduced and excited. Also there are spelling mistakes in the dessert section: it's "pain d'epice" and not "pan d'epice", and "cassonade". Fussy? no, just me being French. Now, for service: a bit disorganised and we counted how many times someone broke a glass (4 times) as well as how many people attended to our table of nine people (3). It was swift enough though and always with a smile. They took time to explain the whole on the stone concept. Some of us asked to get some "on the stone" items but "off the stone' : the waiter systematically answered that he didn't recommend it. If I go there again, I will push that a step further and see what I get. Kudos to the staff for handling those heavy hot plates up and down the stairs. The downstairs area proved rather noisy, but then again, this is where they put all larges parties so I guess it was unavoidable. Most of us had the rib eye which proved as marbled, tasty and tender as I wanted it to be. Nice one. What I didn't like were the sides: oversized, heavy and impossible to handle with the hot plate taking up all the space on the table. I had the polenta chips and they were a very chunky affair without much taste to them. Another pet hate: the price of wine! 7 to 9 euros for a glass of red is far too much profit margin, I'm sorry! I had the chocolate cake with grapefruit extravaganza as dessert and this was lovely - grapefruit sorbet and dark chocolate go very well together. All in all not really a bad experience but I'm probably saying that because I didn't have to pay for dinner. I would have found it pretty hard to part with the amount of cash requested for this kind of food. read more

My first night in Dublin and I was lucky to stumble upon Rustic Stone as I was getting lost in the Grafton St. Area...It was very high on my pre-visit list to visit and it did not disappoint. I was also very grateful that they were able to squeeze me in without a reservation (not having a working phone over here has been very frustrating in that respect). As they were turning people away shortly after that. I was also really unsure of (from a culinary standpoint) what to expect from the scene here - so many jokes have been made, food wise, at Dublin's expense. The food was pure and didn't have too much grandeur - letting the food's flavours really sing and the presentation was free of pretense and highlighted the beauty of the product itself. I had the halibut on the stone and as a first taste of Dublin food...it was life-changing. read more

Update: My sister and I returned to Rustic Stone for dinner after seeing all the "on the stone" entrees coming out during lunch. The dinner was our third Dylan McGrath experience in four days and let's just say: no regrets. We had initially been lured by the promise of half price cocktails which unfortunately only applied to the classic cocktails which we decided not to order. My sister had the elderflower and cucumber martini while I had a tarragon and mango crush. Both were excellent: my sister's was light and refreshing while mine was like a delicious tropical juice poured over perfectly crushed ice. In anticipation of our large entrees, we abstained from ordering appetizers although they all sounded delicious. For our main courses, my sister ordered the tuna topped with an herb and pickled ginger relish while I got the "rolls royce" of sirloins topped with a three peppercorn relish. For sides, we opted for the polenta fries and the peas with spring onions. The sides were both excellent. I think if I had to choose between the polenta and truffle fries, I would go with polenta. They were crispy and accompanied by the same (or similar) dipping sauce to the truffle chips. Our entrees were outstanding! My sister's tuna was soft and fresh and came with a fennel salad. Steak is one of my favorite foods so I can be a harsh critic but the sirloin was pretty excellent! There was a little but of that inedible, chewy fat but that's inevitable with most steaks. I like my meat rare so having the chance to cook it myself was nice - note: I barely cooked it after they brought it out but I did dabble in placing it on the stone for the experience. The peppercorn relish was a nice addition without being overpowering. For dessert we had the cherry panna cotta which was delicious although quite tiny for the price! I was expecting a slightly larger dessert! Sadly, this will probably be my last visit to Rustic Stone until I'm back in Dublin but it is an excellent choice for lunch and dinner if you're in the area! read more

My friend who lives in Dublin, set up an evening dinner at Rustic Stone. I didn't know what to expect...but on our way there she enthused, "They have THE BEST steak there." I paused uncomfortably.."Ummm..I dont eat steak...I mean I eat meat occasionally but I dont really eat steak...I'm sure they'll have other stuff though." And that, they did!! So the idea is that they bring you a flaming hot stone with some sort of meat on there. If you leave the meat on the stone, it cooks, if you prefer your meat on the raw'er side, you remove it from the stone and eat it off your plate. I ordered seared Ahi Tuna (On the menu listed as Tuna with Corainder, dill, basil and rocket with a hint of orange and confit ginger). The tuna was seared to perfection and the sauce/marinade was truly delectable. Let us not ignore the side orders: curried cauliflower and truffle fries. Oh my go-god. The place smells delicious and was packed (seems to be a tourist attraction?) It's in a great people watching area. Reservations highly recommended. If i had more space in my stomach i would have ordered other things that seemed intriguing (such as Tempura of Salmon with crunchy broccoli, mint & cucumber) Perfect with a glass of wine. What, do I have to be named Keith to write a review here? Oh, here it goes. I can already hear the Dubs rolling their eyes and signing at the Texan and her review. What does she know? Why doesn't she just get back to kicking cow chips in her pointy boots and weathered cowboy hat? Well, it just so happens I'm good at 3 things: Xbox Kinect, complaining and eating cow. Rustic Stone falls smack in the category of "tries to hard" (list to come) for me. There are many, MANY things this place does well, including but not limited to: decor, service, unique offerings, quality ingredients, wide variety on the menu, flavor synergy, if you will. Everything is very fresh, fairly healthy (unless you order the dishes covered in cheese, which is of course what I did) and well-priced. What took off stars was a combination of no-nos and missed personal expectations, so please do not fail to give it a try based on my ill-begotten words. First, every time the poor girl sitting next to me had to venture to the toilets, her butt was in danger of upsetting my wine glass, hot stone and hand holding with my tour guide. Talk about ruined intimacy. The place is lively, but I shouldn't be made to feel as if I'm sitting at the same table with the couple next to me. Secondly, selections like "iced cucumber soup" and "roasted fennel and lemon confit" are definitely for the young, adventurous and energized. There are so many flavors in each dish your head spins and you have to attend therapy for weeks afterward to sort out all of the feelings that resulted from the intricate relationships between them, some of which, sadly, did not work out. And finally, order on the stone only if you like heat and pain as a packaged deal. Between the butt of the girl next to me and the scalding grease flying from the stone slab I had to navigate with each reach for my wine glass, I was exhausted after dinner. They failed to cook the prawns that topped my steak, which defeats the purpose of "cook to your liking" since prawns have one correct level of doneness, which lies between "don't give me food poisoning" and "don't be rubbery." Dieting? Vegan? Gluten Free? Lactose Intolerant? Come one, come all! This is your home. I loved the chilled soup and ordered my tuna entree on a 'stone', as that is the restaurant specialty. The menu is extensive and you'll need to review the colorful legend; but, if you know what you're looking for (low cal and dairy free for me) you'll be able to choose from several very tasty items. Rustic Stone grew on me, slowly, over the course of the evening. I was turned off at first, honestly disappointed, by the format of the menu. I know, I sound insane, complaining about graphic design RUINING MY DINNER. But the copy! The chef, Dylan McGrath, comes off as a food-paranoid, self-indulgent, pompous ass with comments such as "Best --- in Dublin" and constantly speaking in the first person. Not only does he talk in first person about his flavor profile, some menu items have an additional chef's quote, highlighted in bright blue, underneath the bragging description of what's actually in the dish. However, I gritted my teeth, watched amazingly presented dishes coming to the tables next to me, and ordered a couple of appetizers - the breads and dips, and the tuna-stuffed sweet peppers - and a cocktail! I needed one to get through the meal! I got the Riddler, as coriander (cilantro to us Americans) in a drink was absolutely the oddest and best thing I'd heard of all week. The tuna-stuffed peppers came as two tiny peppers, served perfectly centered and cold on a large white dish, with microgreens sprinkled on the top. At first I was like, "cold peppers? gosh this guy never stops!" but then I ate mine...and regretted that there were only two. The tuna and peppers were sweet, richly savory, and smooth on the tongue...heaven. The two dips that came with the three types of rye bread were a garlicky smooth hummous, and a baba ghanouj that was about the texture of pudding and sweet and curry-spicy all at once. The breads were great as well - one had walnuts inside! And my Riddler - it was like a green chutney in a martini glass! That sounds strange but is amazing! I drank my delicious emerald green vegetable-alcohol smoothie a little too fast (it was just too tasty!) The rest of dinner...well, I'm already trailing on a bit long, but dinner was great. We got a ribeye steak on a stone and the truffle chips and an orange salad, and shared it all. The chips had great texture - were more like wedges or jo-jos in American parlance, and were very heavily truffled...hope you like your truffles! The steak had great texture and flavor, and it was fun to cook on the stone. The orange salad had a wide variety of sweet and peppery greens, pecans, and of course, orange slices...the dressing came on the side, in a small glass bottle nestled into the greens...presentation, as always, was amazing yet without sacrificing flavor. Firstly, I'm not really sure what all the fuss it about to be honest. I was here last night. the restaurant was fairly full, and we were lucky to get a seat. I do love the decor, and the staff were friendly & courteous. For starters we shared the portion of bread & dips. the bread had more holes in it than a pair of fishnet stockings, that I was wondering how it really could be called bread. the dips were presented in long dishes, very well, and the board hung off the side of the table. Fairly cool. I ordered the sirloin steak for a main course, as I was really interested in the whole "stone" experience. It's actually a pretty cool thing to cook your own food in a restaurant, or maybe just a little gimicky. The sirloin steak was average to be honest. Nothing better than I couldn't cook myself at home, marinaded properly, and fresh from the Dublin Meat Company (check it out if you haven't already). Then come the sides. Now this was an experience in the ridiculous. This is where the restaurant stuck itself firmly up it's own ass, and became extremely pretentious. Where the hell were the potatoes. Normal potatoes....ya know...boiled baby potatoes, or potato gratin (perfect with a steak), or even some wedges, that are actually made from potatoes that you pull from the ground. One of the things that we Irish are famous for. None! So, apart from the ambiance, which I will concede was enjoyable, the decor, which was very good too, this place, in my opinion, leaves a lot to be desired and needs to get it's head out of its arse! A mixed bag really. Killer salads and raw options matched with some of the most disappointing fish dishes I've had worldwide. YMMV (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=YMMV). Some of the menu option are pure Jamie Oliver's Jamie's Italian but not as good (Polenta Chips? Fish in a Bag?). Service was crushingly slow, with 20-25 minutes to table. Bizarre considering that some of the cooking a la stone is completed after service. The salmon tempura was stinky and the halibut was clearly done from frozen. Still, it's reasonably priced. Yadda Bing! Had lunch in the Rustic stone yesterday; the menu at first glance was bit of read however the very nice waitress was over quick as a flash to steer us through the 'raw' menu and the a la carte options. We opted for the 'Raw' (not cooked over 45deg) menu tasting platter and the Burger with a side of greens. The tasting menu was a flash back to the Celtic tiger days when we could afford to go to yer mans Mint restaurant in Renalagh. It was taste explosion and presentation heaven, with a selection from the raw menu with two shots of fresh juice.. For 15 quid this is an absolute steal and would highly recommend if you are a first timer here. The Burger was cooked the way I like it: Bloody. And it was bloody tasty. It comes with some posh chips and a very nice dip. I thought I would care that it cost €17 but I didnt. ... and I would do it again! (screw you jo burger) The knickerbocker glory is pure food porn. Happy endings yeah! The whole lunch came in just under €50 quid which I know is on the higher end of the scale but the tasty food and surroundings combination just won me over. Ill be back again for dinner, i want to try this cooking steak on the stone thing. I think ill bring a crew. And my fat pants. read more

You can't question what your tastebuds are crying out to you, and with The Rustic Stone there's no question that the food is sensationally, exceptionally and supremely tasty. The salads are full of flavour. All have an interesting twist to what you'd usually expect in your bowl of greens, and are all GINORMOUS! Forget the stereotypical notion of salads being for dainty girls who want to eat light, these are so jam-packed with all manners of health & wellness that any macho man would be left puffing and panting for a momentary recess before dessert! It's a lovely sunny late Saturday afternoon in Dublin. I'm rarely off at the weekend so to be in town is a treat. We've just come from a wonderful matinee show at the Project Theatre on the way to another show so we have time to kill. We come across the Rustic Stone, and looking for somewhere to treat ourselves to a good meal, we have a look at the menu advertised on the wall. All sounds very good and what you'd expect from a Michelin chef. In we go!! We're immediately greeted by a member of staff and after a double check to see if there is a table for us, we get the nod and are brought to a table at the back of the restaurants. The restaurant is all wood browns and greens. The atmosphere is busy but relaxed. The staff are friendly and competent. We're given menus and water. The menu has a legend at the end saying which little dot means gluten free, super food, dairy free etc. The mains are broken down to small portions and large portions. It's all very interesting food, nothing really bland here and and the descriptions are written seemingly by chef Dylan McGrath. A lot of the dishes sound delicious and a lot catches my eye. We decided to share the bread and dips for starters; 3 types of bread with hummus and baba ganoush. It's delicious and plentiful for two. The bread is fresh and tasty and the dips are fab. For main I decide to have 2 small portions; one is the glamburger, the other the lime salad. Reagan gets the sirloin of beef. The burger is delicious, especially the paprika on the bun. I get 4 polenta chips and Reagan gets a portion of polenta chips. The polenta chips are tasty, but 4 will do it. Reagan couldn't finish her portion and I couldn't face another after four. Her steak is beautiful. My salad is delicious and full of healthiness, the fruit is very fresh, but the lime dressing is very aggressive. I'm a lime lover, and even for me, it was too much. For dessert we order the fruit sushi and the strawberry Knickerbocker. The Knickerbocker is the way to end a meal. It is a delicious dessert. The sushi is well done, it looks exactly like sushi, but flavour-wise it fails. I loved the meal here overall, it's different to other restaurant and the ingredients that are used are top of the range, everything was so fresh and delicious. There is a clear choice for all tastes, a ample offering of salads and meat and fish dishes, the cocktails look great though a little expensive. It's a little pricey but the food is good, and I would probably stick to the smaller portions if not really hungry. But definitely worth a visit! read more

I went to Rustic Stone for a work dinner and I have to say the food is a little underwhelming. I like the general idea of cooking steak/fish/chicken on a hot stone, but I think the rest of the food has something left to be desired. I ordered the fish and by the time it got to my table it was a little overcooked and i had to take it off the stone immediately. At that point, the stone is just a gimmick. We absolutely loved our experience at the Rustic Stone. After reading some of the Yelp reviews I was a bit skeptical - I had heard great things but it only had 3.5 stars. We ignored the naysayers and decided make our reservations and go anyway - and I'm so glad we did because it was delicious! We started with the breads and dips - we only ordered it for one, but we both ate our fill and had plenty left over. My husband had the filet to be cooked on the stone - he likes his steak medium rare so he was thrilled that it came out seared, but rare. He was able to cook it to his desired level by cutting it into smaller pieces and cooking them on the stone. It was fun to watch and he said it was delicious. Normally I would have tried it but I ordered the mushroom pasta that came out absolutely covered in parmesan cheese. It was out of this world, and I devoured it - so I had no room to share my husband's steak. We also had a few delicious cocktails here. It was not an inexpensive experience, but it was trendy, fun, and reminded me of the restaurant scene in LA - in a good way. My only complaint was that for the price, the tables are quite close together and the restaurant is very loud. If I could do it over again, I would book in and request a booth - I feel it would have afforded us more privacy and perhaps made the noise level a bit more tolerable. read more

So as the detox dedications of January begin I found myself planning every meal and was beginning to not enjoy the buzz of it all...that was til I went for lunch with a mate of mine. To anyone thinking salad is boring ...You all stand corrected. We both ordered the Mighty mustard small size which in actual fact was huge. The dressing comes in a bottle so you get to put on as much or as little as you like. OH man just as I was beginning to bore of greens, this bad boy was so damn good. Packed full of flavour from the rocket to the walnuts to the prosciutto ham to the shaved pear. OMG DELICIOUS and very filling. We also order sides of pesto chips, cauliflower florets and by far the star side was the green relish with peas, broad beans and spring onions. Who would've ever thought a bowl full of peas and beans could be so damn amazing. I wanted more and also the chef to teach me how to make it. Without a doubt the food here is unreal, I couldn't fault it. I gave the rustic stone 4 stars because of this. I would've given higher but the restaurant was ROASTING. So hot my mate had to strip down to a vest. The staff were pleasant and polite...I cant say anything bad about them to be honest but they were just a lil bland n comparison to the food. Sorry. We went to this during a Dine in Dublin week and got an awesome menu for a very reasonable price. The concept is great, but you have to be prepared for cooking your own meat that comes out raw and red on a hot stone. Possibly is not the best idea for a first date (as the couple sitting next to us discovered). The starters were tasty, the chicken wings were perfect, with sticky soya sauce on crunchy wings, and the desserts were a great finisher. I are here a few times when it first opened, but my trip last night has been my first in years. Many of the items have their calorie value listed which is great to see. I very rarely order a burger in a restaurant but was seriously craving one so have in! I ordered it rare and it came with polenta chips which were delicious. I washed the whole thing down with a beer and coffee to finish. Friendly staff and great food make great restaurant - Would definitely recommend. read more

I was here four years ago and have been waiting to get back to Dublin to eat here again. It was worth the wait. The avocado and cucumber soup is incredible. The fillets are so tender. The experience is fun and the staff is so helpful and courteous. Everyone should experience this place. read more

Somehow I've missed Dyllan McGrath's Rustic Stone. Until now. Booked a table on a busy Friday night for 2. Did not like the first table they gave me upstairs - basically in a corridor - so they moved me without complaint to a far superior berth in the basement. My companion and I shared some really good chicken wings for a starter followed by Glamburgers - basically very tasty sliders. Bottle of Pinot Grigio and a brace of margaritas completed a very satisfactory and, in fairness, reasonably priced repast. I will be back. read more

This place is larger than I expected, went upstairs as the ground floor seemed full. The room was full of smoke for some reason. But food was great, the steak would take extra work to cut and cooked by ourselves, it was fun, probably not a great idea if you are super hungry :) Chicken wings starter is a must try! read more

We went to Rustic Stone on a Sunday night and had made reservations beforehand. We started off with the Duck 'n' Beef Sandwich and the Luscious Lime salad which were both delicious. Our mains were the Sirloin and the Rump of Beef and Polenta Chips and Bulgar. We loved the meat and bulgar but I wasn't to fond of the polenta chips. Since we were already full we decided to skip dessert and were ushered out quite quickly after having said that by the waiter. We thought that was a little rude but maybe that's normal in Ireland?! Nevertheless, the way of cooking and eating the meat is very interesting and quite funny. Great experience! My boyfriend thought the table was a little too small for the stone and the plate but I think he's just a little bit clumsy :) Altogether, we'd recommend the place and would go there again! read more

Chocolate soup. I don't need to say any more. But I will. Because that's what you're here to read. So...my intent was to go on just for the chocolate soup. But I felt like a big ol fatty so to make myself feel better I got a salad. I was so happy I did! I believe it was the salad with goat cheese? Honestly don't remember but all their salads are phenomenal. They're just so pure and to the point. There isn't any fake or artificial ingredients. The quality of their food is impeccable. The portions are filing as well. I got s half salad and it was huge. And then the chocolate soup!! Omg I could go on forever. It's this pure & light beautiful mouthful of love. No added drama to it. Just so amazing. It comes with this little hazelnut fluff ice cream or sour cream? Either way it was delightful. I would come here a million times just for that soup. It was my first experience eating at the restaurant and it didn't live up to my expectations. We had a reservation and were sat immediately, but at a table right next to the door. We were wedged in between two other couples. The seating was so close that I felt uncomfortable having a conversation as I could overhear everything else that the patrons sitting next to us were saying. The decor was nice, but didn't make up for the crowded seating and slow service. The food was average, as I wasn't overly pleased with anything. For a starter, we got crab mayonnaise on toast which was good, but the portion size was very small. For my main, I ordered the Halibut with Walnut Relish on the stone. The oils from the fish were splattering off the stone while cooking and I burned my hand while trying to take my fish off of the stone. The dessert was the best part of the meal, which was the Brulee Pan D'Pepice. For the location, decor and clientele, I was expecting more out of this establishment.
