We also love supporting small businesses when we can, so this felt like the perfect stop. Right when we walked in, we noticed how clean, organized, and well-stocked the shop was. There's a ton to choose from, which could feel overwhelming, but the two women working behind the register immediately stepped in and made the whole experience easy and actually really fun. They took the time to understand what we were looking for -- something beginner-friendly that the girls could enjoy without it being too advanced. One of the boards the girls were drawn to was actually more high-performance, and instead of just selling it to us, they guided us to a better option. Honestly, they saved us money and probably saved us from a frustrating first experience. They walked us through how to properly size the boards, explained what to look for, and even set everything up at checkout -- attaching the leash and showing the girls how to use it. They also gave a few quick tips that made us feel way more confident heading to the beach. That kind of service is rare. We also picked up a rash guard for my husband (great quality, he loves it) and a cute little shell bracelet that was perfect for the beach vibe. Is it the absolute cheapest place you'll find a bodyboard? Probably not. But the quality, the guidance, and the customer service more than make up for it. Was told "no refunds, but you can use it as credit." Went in person to see what alternatives they had. They suggested using the credit toward a different activity, but only during their off-season in 3 months--and I'd still need to pay full price on top of the credit. In their busy season right now, the credit is essentially worthless. This feels intentional. They keep the money from the duplicate rental, trap the credit behind their busy season, and force me to either eat the loss or wait months for a partial remedy that still costs me. No acknowledgment of the inconvenience or willingness to work with a customer who caught their own mistake immediately and asked nicely. If you rent from them, expect inflexible refund policies and credit terms designed to benefit them, not you. I won't be going back.

Our beloved Takayama boards fell down in the garage and were fairly damaged. Alan did more than fix them, he restored them. They are intuitively designed and the boards are incredibly responsive which is helpful for me since my leg strength isn't what it used to be. I can't say enough good things about them. I have some of my favorite boards that have lasted me over 10 years and they still perform beautifully. I've tried other boards but always end up going back to my old favorites so now I just stick with Xanadu's.

I do not surf near anyone and i keep the board in a bag when transporting. I was able to send it to a professional to patch the board dings in which they told me how poorly this board was made and how cheap the coating was being it was so easy to split open. I am very disappointed for I am now out a grand on a poorly made board and hope they would look into their making. I will no longer be purchasing from this company and urge other shops to stop selling these boards as well. They are cheap and ripping people off.
