The brisket tacos were good as well. The shells for the birria tacos were slightly burned, but I was too hungry to care, lol. The queso and chips was something I couldn't stop eating, they tasted good! The taco sizes are slightly bigger than the street tacos I've eaten before. Having 2 tacos with the chips and queso was enough to get me full. Definitely looking forward to trying more of their seafood tacos next time I try Rusty Tacos! read more

The food here is pricey but it's decent quality. Five tacos, two churros, and a queso side were $36. I guess I'm too used to California priced tacos. When I see a taco priced at $4, I hurt a little bit inside. Standouts in the menu were the shrimp taco. The brisket had too many chunks of fat for me. The churros had a nice flavor but $4 per churro is a bit steep. Service was smooth and efficient. All the workers were friendly and polite. The inside of the restaurant was colorful and clean. On a nice day they probably open up the area and give it a nice indoor outdoor feel. I would recommend giving this place a try. read more

I really don't remember the types of tacos we ordered but to be honest it doesn't matter, they were not that good. For $3 a taco and $8 for nachos we should have had something special on our tray. Our tacos were about room temperature and what vegetables on the tacos we had were dry and barely eatable. One thing I kept noticing while I ate was one of the cashiers would turn around and put her right hand under running water and then dry them....no soap was used and only the right hand...things that make you go hmmmm? So my wife and I decided to try Rusty's Tacos at the Fairfield commens and the place was disgustingly dirty! The bathrooms believe it or not were cleaner than the drink/salsa bar. Every table we looked for to sit down still had food on them from other people eating. The tacos and sides were marginal at best. You would have thought that the stuff that went into the tacos was coming out of their pockets because they were so stingy with the contents. So the other gross thing that I noticed is that when you went to the salsa bar the plastic cups that you put the salsa in were so small that when you used the ladle to put the salsa in the cup, ran all over your fingers and back into the salsa container. The order person behind the counter was very nice and pleasant to interact with that's why I'm giving two stars and not one. read more

I was mistaken when I didn't think I'd be able to find good tacos in the area. Rusty Taco has a lot of flavor, and sure, the occasional misfire, when it comes to its street style tacos that are a bit smaller than more americanized tacos. Their margarita machine was so-so, but fortunately you're not asking for much. It was frozen, there was tequila in it, and it had a fruit flavor, so no real complaints. I cleared through about six tacos because, well, I have no self respect. My go-to's are the shrimp taco, the fish taco, and the fried chicken taco. The Baja sauce with the shrimp taco paired really well with the cilantro. Same thing for the fish with its chipotle style sauce. I was worried the fried chicken might be a little dry, but the ranch flavored sauce gave it a bit of kick and moisture that took the chicken from a B- to an A-. Sure, we'd all rather be in California eating tacos on the beach, but for those that don't have that option, Rusty at least covers the food part. And there's an outdoor seating area that can let you get your dose of rays. So, same same right! read more

Great place! It's better if you dine in vs. takeout. I've been here a few times, and almost every time I've ordered the fried fish tacos. They remind me of the fish tacos from Rubios's Fish Tacos back home. These tacos don't hold up well when out well when you get them as takeout. By the time you eat them, the fish are no longer crispy and the sauce has hardened up. I've tried their fried shrimp tacos, it wasn't too good. I've never NOT finished a taco until last night. I had the #2 Roasted Pork Taco and the #8 Baja Shrimp Taco. We shared tortilla chips and queso. The shrimp was chewy and far from fresh. The pork was dry and had this overwhelming liquid smoke type flavor. I put salsa on it hoping it would help, but still couldn't finish it. The queso was yellow and tasted like velveeta.
