This was way more than I expected! The ride along gives you some feel of what to expect as far as G forces in one of the cars you would later drive The classroom training was thorough and we had plenty of opportunity to ask questions. Skull caps were provided for the helmets and care was taken to be sure you had a good fit with equipment. The crew selected a car that would fit you fairly close by gauging your size, so you would be able to reach the pedals and not have to have extra padding put in the seat. The cars are detuned enough so they can be managed by a novice, even if you try to push its a little extra. Radio communication from the spotter keeps you aware of any mistakes you might be making and keep you on the proper line on the track. They will also tell you if you over drive the car. The whole experience was well organized and designed for the racing public with safety in mind. I am 70 years old and worried about side forces with a helmet bothering my neck. I only went for a 4 lap ride along and then 8 laps of driving on this mile track. I should have signed up for 16 laps---next time. I am glad we were early in the day because there were a lot of people arriving for the later times. I was concerned about the track being dirty since cars had not been running on it since a rain storm overnight, but the track was in good condition This organization is doing a great job of giving race fans a taste of what it is like to drive a race car. My wife purchased "The Shootout" Racing Experience package for my 30th b-day...WOW!!! What an AMAZING drive! After completing a 45 minute 'crash course' at the track, I suited up, took some pictures with the car, climbed into the driver's seat and got secured into position, then hit the throttle down pit row. My 5 year old son asked me to warm up the tires, so of course I did as I was getting up to speed. When I hit the back straightaway, all bets were off and I floored it. Unlike any other racing experience out there, passing was allowed and once I got passed by another racer, the adrenaline kicked in and I had to get my position back and pass them. It definitely brought out the competitive side of me. The g-force entering each turn was heart-pounding and fueled the fire to go even faster when coming out of the corners. After 12 incredibly fast-paced laps, I took the checkered flag, climbed out of the car, and couldn't stop smiling for hours. The only problem: it was like a tease, a small taste, and all I want to do is have another crack at it. This is as close as anyone can get to racing a real NASCAR racecar on a professional speedway. It's an experience I will remember for years to come and I hope to get back out there. read more

I REALLY enjoyed the Rusty Wallace Racing Experience at PPIR! My wonderful girlfriend got me the 8 lap package for my birthday and just redeemed it last weekend. I was sold on the ride along from our instructor during the classroom portion and I am very glad I did it. It definitely allowed me to get the fastest laps out of the 8 that I had. The only downside was that it was only 3 laps. I was definitely itching for more laps with the pro to really see what those cars are capable of. I also really enjoyed the fact that you were able to pass other cars if they weren't as comfortable driving the cars to their limit. And as a speed junkie I would have loved to have the limiters on the cars to be just a tad higher so that you really could drive the cars to their limits without having some track left over. All in all, I would recommend the experience to anyone and especially NASCAR or any other racing enthusiasts. I can't wait to go back and do it again, hopefully with more laps to enjoy! read more

I have raced here through RWRE 2 times now. I have also raced with Richard Petty in Las Vegas. Rusty Wallace Racing Experience blows them out of the water. This is an amazing experience. I did a ride along with a pro driver at 155mph !! Then raced 24 laps, alone, with no lead car and passing is allowed !! I would and WILL do this again, it's worth every penny. Make sure to purchase the video. It completes your day. They have seriously upgraded the video which now tracks your lap and your track position. The staff is very knowledgeable and professional and are there to help and assist at every step. I need to add, I am not a nascar fan. Im sure this would be even cooler for a true fan. Bought a 12-lap Qualifier Experience for a friend's birthday and of course, included myself too. It was awesome. Incredible. Better than sex... okay... bit of an exaggeration but almost as good. Although we did not choose this option I recommend doing the ride along before you drive. It took awhile to get used to the car and the feel of the track. And surprisingly 12-laps flies by fast. Literally. If you can crank it up to 110 or more you'll be done in 5 minutes. Also pay attention in the class. It's good information that leads to a much more enjoyable experience. Finally, I would say that if you think this is like driving your family car -- it ain't. It's hot, noisy, visibility is poor, steering is awkward and the shifter is like something from a Chevy Step Van. Not what you expect. These vehicles were built to race. On April 27th, I got the experience of a lifetime when I got to drive a Sprint Cup car. It was such a great feeling to climb in that car, follow the pace car for two laps and hear it was green and to hit that pedal and GO GO GO! This car has power that I never felt before. I have raced before on a 1/4 mile track in a "street stock" car that I built myself and I wish it had the power that the #21 car had at PPIR. I am 55 years old and thanks to my son and daughter, who bought me the Rusty Wallace Racing Experience, just driving 8 laps was so fun! I didn't get the names of all the crew members, but they were so professional, helpful, and fun. That was a good day and we all had a great time, thanks! read more

It was an AWESOME experience to drive a NASCAR race car, one that I will never forget as I did it all, the ride along, 4 pace laps and 8 driver laps. I'm a short person and needed a cushion placed behind me but still had some issues putting the pedal to the metal all the way. The driver suit that I was given was damp inside, most likely being previously used. When scheduled (back in February) I selected the date and time for my driving experience. With this roster they have for the day/weekend they should have enough clean driver suits for all the drivers. I highly recommend this experience for all those novice race car drivers out there. This was a great experience...if you are a speed lover, you will want to do both the ride along (which is about 4 laps with a driver, tops out at about 150 mph) then you will want to drive these retired Nascar cars for a minimum of 12 laps. If you get the 8 lap package, you'll wish you had done more! Its pricey for sure, but if is a "bucket list" time item for you, its well worth it! Instructor, pit crew and spotter are all great and helpful. Not for the timid....driving at 130 mph and rolling into the corners at about 100 mph can be intimidating, but once you get the feel of the car then you are in for the thrill of a lifetime! read more

The Rusty Wallace experience is as close to racing in a stock car race you can come to without actually racing in the circuit. It is very professionally run, has all the actual equipment used in races around the country and supports all drivers as though they were professionals. This was my first experience with the Rusty Wallace program but it will not be my last. Got the 8 lap qualifier as a Christmas gift. Only regret is that I didn't get more laps. This was an absolute blast and a great time from check in to getting into the car to leave the raceway.
