It was near 12am and we didn't have very many options to eat so we gave Rustys a try and we were in for a pleasant experience. Im not a pizza person but this place made me one for sure. They pretty much perfected the pizza. The sauce they use is to die for and the cheese was beyond what words can describe. I ordered the veggie sub. Hold the zucchini. I asked if the veggies were grilled, the cashier said yes. I ordered a bud light (gross I know but it was the cheapest beer while I waited) and ya it tasted like stale fizzy water. When it was my turn to pick up my sub the only thing warm about it was the toasted bread. I could count about 6 pieces of dry mushroom and 2 pieces of green pepper. A pinch of lettuce and something he has to point out to me that might have been cheese. I asked for the manager. He said "no we don't grill, the cashier was mistaken". How do you eat a sub (I ordered a LARGE) with 7 pieces of raw veggies and just plain crusted bread? I said can I have my money back? He shrugged his shoulders and said "it's how we do it, you don't like it?" And he grabbed my sub and headed for the trash. I said don't throw it out! Give it to someone! What a pretty place to have some pizza! It's a huge building with vaulted ceilings,beautiful flooring, and wonderful seating options. It feels clean, sparkly new, and luxurious compared to the other spots to grab a causal bite. The spacious seating and variety of comfortable options excites me, because we are a family of 6 and we're usually crammed in a booth or waiting, waiting, waiting. We picked a big round table. There are booths, standard tables, and also a private room for events. I ordered half a veggie sub with ranch on the side. The bread was fresh,toasted, and delicious. My sandwich was very good, but they really skimped on the cheese. Btw-they have excellent ranch dressing- and I'm pretty picky when it comes to dressing/sauce. My kids wanted to order the pan style pizza, rather than thin crust. I found it to be very doughy, and not crispy enough on the bottom. I have a strong suspicion that the thin crust would be better. It was still good pizza though. Sauce was fine, cheese texture and taste were very good. They have a few arcade games, which (in my opinion) makes waiting for a pizza even better! The prices are very reasonable, and it's a great place to feed a family or a crowd. The staff weren't very friendly, not rude- just a bit cold. We always order pizza for take out but occasionally like to eat at the location down by the pier. Worst idea ever! the older lady at the register is plain rude. Won't smile and seems like she doesn't want to work. I have had two experiences with her-we always order a salad and get two containers for ranch. I proceeded to ask her for the containers and she said no we don't do that. I expressed how we always get two containers and she said "we sell those." Mind you I ordered a salad I didn't want to drench my salad with ranch before the pizza was ready. She ended up giving me one container but with the worst attitude. Second experience-my family was celebrating a graduation and she literally said "you should be grateful I am cleaning up after you guys." The place was so slow and we were not even done eating and she was already trying to throw away our stuff-first time I have ever seen her move other than be behind the register but clearly she had a different motive. If you haven't had encounters with her she will stick out like a sore thumb on your next visit. A complaint was made to the manager who said that we were the second people that day alone. I cannot believe that my car got towed today from this restaurant-ended up paying $300+ for this . It's actually my first time visiting Santa Barbara and never have I imagined of such terrible experience. It is not even packed as There were not a lot of cars parked there. there were only 4 cars parked. There's not even a written notice about it being exclusively parking for their business only. If I'm being honest, the only reason this place is open is because of its good location. It's near the train station which was nice. The place was clean, food was decent, but a bit overpriced (but it is SB). Immediately, however, we were taken aback by the customer service. We were not greeted when we walked in, or checked on at any point, and the lady at the register seemed annoyed when we had questions about the menu. Actually, she seemed annoyed that we were there at all. She treated us like we were holding up the line. There was no line, only one other person in the store, already sitting down. It was hard to understand her since she talked fast and mumbled, but when I asked her to repeat herself, she was visibly irritated. The salad bar was stocked and clean, granted we were there a bit after opening. When the food came out, it was hot, but one of our two toppings was not even on the pizza. The reason for the low rating is because the customer service area was weak. The cashier was not pleasant, I wouldn't call her "Miss Sunshine ". We called in to place an order, but the number listed takes you to a generic "call center" where you have to have the address of the rusty's you want to order at ready. Otherwise, they'll be all confused and have no idea where you're trying to place your order. THEN, once when you ca. FINALLY place your order, they have to HANG UP on you just so the "manager" can call you back to get "verbal confirmation" of the order. Literally, WHAT. HOW. WHY. WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE RUSTY'S. But actually, all frustration aside. This is a terrible system that is antiquated and more frustrating than it needs to be. I've been in and around the Restaurant business for over 30 years and Clearly the Sanitation and Customer service procedures are Very Subpar! You would think during this Pandemic that there would be some better protocols in place. So I'l make it brief, once you make it to the counter your greeted with attitude. The employees were short with me and Super inpatient. They preferred to sell me a can beer vs just pouring one from the draft as if they were just too Lazy to do so, Due to Covid there obviously is no interior seating and everyone is waiting to get a seat outside. NOT Once did I see anyone that represents the company come out to Clean and Sanitize a Table let alone clear the dirty dishes? The Trash cans were overflowing and once I got a table I knew that Clearly I would have to clean it myself. I proceeded to the counter to ask for a wet towel w/sanitizer and the girl just Gave me a Dry Towel? I personally had to use my Sanitizer Hand Spray to clean the table! The people next to us had to move the previous customers dishes aside while they ate? So to make matters worst I Contacted the company through their website to let them know there is a Serious Lack of performance from this location and they never responded. To begin, it's Very impressive that Rusty's deliveries directly to a camping spot at Carpinteria state beach. The pizza arrived earlier than the 45 minutes I was quoted. Pizza was hot and delicious. Our kids were begging us for pizza while visiting Santa Barbra. We just so happened to walk by this place, so we decided to try it out. The kids were very excited as they have a few video games and the place is pretty inviting. Unfortunately, where they went wrong was with the service. We ordered a couple beers, sodas for the kids and a pizza. There was only 1 other customer in the place ( that walked in about 15 min after us) and when they got their pizza we asked the front counter if they had ours.
