JAMBALAYA LINGUINI FINI
Genezaret C.

It's been several years since I've eaten at CPK. I came with close friends to enjoy a meal on a Friday afternoon. We were seated in a booth and immediately given waters. The waiter brought out bread and chimichurri sauce... a nice appetizer before our meal. I ordered the jambalaya pasta, it included sausage and chicken! The portion was hefty so and the spice wasn't bad at all. My friend ordered the California club pizza - the most beautiful, fresh and green looking pizza. The pizza had arugula and avocado on top. My other friend ordered the Shrimp zucchini pasta- unfortunately for her the portion was a lot smaller. It looked like 5 bites of food. Overall, great spot to have an intimate experience and the server was great.

Lunch special
Alexis N.

The lunch special is good. The service was a bit off and the atmosphere felt weird because there wasn't enough background music. I think I'll be back because it's a good price, but I do hope the service improves.

Pizza was delicious and my sever was so nice , she checked up on our table frequently.

Sweet Treats!

Every time is definitely different, but always as good as the previous! I been coming to California Pizza Chicken for the past 20 years and the food is always good. The service is slightly different but always accommodating to my group necessities. They have a casual ambiance according to the time of day. Once again, you be the judge of that.

lunch-sized Italian chop salad

The service was fast and friendly. The atmosphere was cool but not freezing. It was comfortable and the food was great. My friend and I have been here a few times, but we never saw the lunch special on the back page of the menu. A lot of options and very reasonable prices. Greg, our waiter, immediately brought us ciabatta bread and olive oil to dip. It was delicious! We both opted for the lunch-sized chicken barbecue pizza and an Italian lunch-sized salad. Being close to shopping with ample parking, we will do this again!

Chicken nuggets kids meal and spinach dip

Easy to get a table and a tricky to get service. Food is typically subpar cold/lacks flavors obviously pre frozen foods. however my god kids LOVE the nuggets. Pricey, nice space.

Bread and EVOO. 3/5. IG: @amei.eats

(Overall: 76% | C) - I found the service to be quite good at CPK, but the restaurant to not be very clean. Overall, the food is on the cheaper side compared to most places in SB if you consider their lunch deal, but the quality is definitely not as good. (Tropical Iced Tea: 80% | B) - The passionfruit mango iced tea has unlimited refills, which is somewhat appealing. Make sure to sweeten it with a syrup as the unsweetened version is not it. The taste can somewhat taste like gum, but otherwise is okay. (Hawaiian Pizza: 80% | B) - The pizza had a lot of toppings and minimal cheese, which is my preference. I think the abundance of pineapple is nice, but is covering everything else on the pizza. The crust also did not match the proportion of the size of the pizza, but did taste good overall. (Tomato Bisque: 72.5% | C) - The tomato bisque has a good baseline taste mixing the classic tomato soup and cream. I found the menu to be quite misleading when it said "kiss of cream" when there's so much cream (as you'd expect) in this soup. Also, weirdly enough, some parts of the soup is lumpy. (Bread & EVOO: 75% | C) - The bread is nice and I really liked the herb dip -- it had a nice kick from the chili and strong herb taste as well. The bread itself could be more fluffy, but still tasted good more than bad, presentation aside.

Service is nice, but this place is dark and depressing. Food is just average. This place needs a little updating and life.

There was an indoor area, and we didn't know at the time, but there are separate outdoor waiter service areas and counter service. We did counter service. There were two people at registers. There was literally no one in front of us and no marked nor even obvious line area. Naturally we stand a few feet in front of one of the registers waiting for her to say, "can I help you" before we move to. Instead the woman (to make it worse, I think she was the patio manager because she was older than the others and seemed to be doing more things than just working a register) gives us the, "I need you to wait in the line area over there" and points to a barrel with no indication that it's a line. You know like the old David Spade skit. This already left a bad taste in my mouth because again there was no line marked, no one waiting, and it's not like we got up in her space or were being pushy. She was just power tripping. To make it worse, we came here because they literally have "full bar" painted on the outside of the building, and the other places around are mostly wine bars or beer gardens. BUT (keep reading)... One of the young people working calls us from the "line of just us" to help us (because of course the other woman wasn't going to). They have 3 specialty margaritas listed. I ask if I can just get a "regular margarita". She says "no because they only sell pre-made drinks". Uh, what about the FULL BAR? Then we sit down. They have a few long picnic bench style tables. They all had a party at them but they were big so we asked a group if we could share the opposite end. The other customers were cool and had no problem with it. BUT... There were no napkins nor condiments. When our food arrived, it was mediocre. We left unhappy but didn't make a fuss. As we were leaving, the power tripping woman thanked us for coming as if she hadn't just been a total B to us for no reason.

Started off with a refreshing non-alcoholic strawberry spritz drink. Then the bread course--simple but so delicious because of the high-quality butter and olive oil that accompanied it, and the bread itself was excellent. My favorite bite of the meal was the tri-tip, it literally melted in my mouth! The beet salad was also delicious. I'd probably skip the al pastor dish when I return. It wasn't bad, but the other dishes were such standouts that it was overshined and I'd like to try something different. Didn't have room for dessert, but will be back to try that Baked California!

The service was cool and the vibes were nice. The restaurant sits on a standalone corner in a quiet little neighborhood, which made for a relaxing evening. The crudo was incredible. If it's on the menu when you go, order it. The grilled avocado was fantastic. Would I order it again? Probably not, but I'm still glad we tried it. We also ordered the Scotch egg and honestly, this was another letdown. The chorizo was a little too strong and reminded me a lot of the Cacique chorizo you get at the grocery store. Unfortunately, this one missed for me. The mussels had really good flavor, but they felt just a little underdone. They definitely weren't lacking seasoning. It just felt like the mussels themselves needed a little more time. One thing I do have to mention though was the sourdough bread they served. It was unfortunately very dry. If you're going to serve grilled sourdough, I think it actually needs to be grilled. Maybe slice it a little thinner too because these were thick chunks of bread that completely lacked texture. The ricotta balls were delicious and surprisingly light even though they sound like they'd be heavy. The salmon was also delicious. The skin could have been crispier. Lastly, the New York strip. Visually, I felt like it could have been presented a little better. The flavor was good, but truthfully nothing that really stood out. Still a decent steak. Parking was easy. Our server's name started with a V. She was very nice. A little timid at first, but she warmed up throughout the night and took good care of us. Would I come back? Truthfully, probably not for a full dinner. The restaurant is beautiful, the atmosphere is great, and the food is visually appealing, but outside of the crudo and the Lioco wine, I felt like the flavors lacked a little balance. I'd absolutely come back for a glass of wine, the crudo, and the vibes. Barbareño gets a 7 out of 10 from me.

But for a while now,…read morewhen I visit my friend's auto repair shop downtown, he always gets Turkey Burgers from here. Always looking for places to have solo lunch, I finally ventured to FZ. There's no sign. I drove by several times and parked, determined to find it. It was next to Lama Dog. I ordered at the window from a very friendly and efficient staff member. I found a nice bar-height communal table inside a super cool restored warehouse with awesome indie music jamming, also surrounded by big screens and sporting events. I ordered a bottled Arnold Palmer from the bar, not realizing the bottled drinks are self-serve. Nevertheless, the bartender kindly got it for me along with a glass of ice. Now here's the best part: the very best Turkey Burger I have ever had--way better than any take-out before. It's topped with garlic aioli, avocado, melted cheese, lettuce, tomato, and crispy skinny onion rings, just perfect. I also ordered the fries with truffle and Parmesan--absolutely delicious, though a bit too flavorful, which overshadowed the turkey burger's flavor. I've tried both sweet and regular potato fries here, and they are excellent too. This place really hits the spot. Can't wait to come back.

Was enough for us to share between two. Creamy and cheesy, but could've used more lobster. Would've expected a better lobster to macaroni ratio with this one. Prices are a little steeper here. It was $25 for the Lobster mac & cheese, which I would've been more open to with a bit more fish in the dish. Plus, when I go to grab a beer, I'm not necessarily wanting to pay $20+ for a burger without fries. That being said, it's still a good spot to grab some food while drinking a beer at Lama Dog.

When I want a real culinary treat or for wowing my friends and family, I take them to Opal!…read more The ambiance is on point, the staff inviting and the food is always amazing! They have the best filet mignon! Tender, juicy and flavorful! Mushroom cream sauce, scoop of delectable mash potatoes and some fresh veg. Soooo good! Extensive wine list and a full bar make it a must try spot! Top off that delicious meal with house made tiramisu or vanilla bean crème brûlée and you can that me later!

I've been here many times and usually love it, but I feel like service has been lacking lately…read more I recently went with family and saw they have an "Opal Martini," which is Tito's vodka, some brand of gin, and a cheese olive. No vermouth. Very weird and sounds kinda gross, so I requested a classic vodka martini instead with vermouth and the olive. They bring out just a glass of chilled vodka, no vermouth, and a cheese olive. I check the bill: $12 MARTINI -$5 UP (upgrade?!? Are you joking? It's a SWAP!) -$1 CHEESE OLIVE (ARE YOU SERIOUS?!?) So they charged me $18 to turn their decapitated martini made with UCSB student-budget vodka into a regular martini, and then charged me extra for the already included olive because I had the gall to change the drink! The waitress didn't even bother mentioning how I barely touched the drink, which our usual Opal servers would have 100% caught onto. Younger girl with black hair and very nonchalant, dismissive attitude. Atmosphere looked nice but between the fire alarm going off from someone burning something in the kitchen, table of 6 behind us that had cackling harpy laughs (not unusual for Opal), and the blasting music, you can't even have a decent conversation at dinner. I'm pretty over this place and will not recommend it anymore. I always try to stay positive about SB's food scene as someone from LA, but constant experiences like this are what make me go "Damn, if only the food here didn't suck so badly...."
