A friend of my wife's recommended The Corner Tap. I remember noticing it years ago as I drove by and thinking, "We need to check this place out." Since we don't live in the neighborhood, it became an "out of sight, out of mind" situation. When my wife mentioned her friend's recommendation, we finally decided to give it a try. This visit was takeout, but after stepping inside, we're already looking forward to dining in. The dining room and patio felt warm, inviting, and welcoming--exactly the kind of place you want to spend an evening with friends and family. The NOTORIOUS P.I.E. was off the hook! Slam dunk. Three-pointer. Nothing but net! Without question, it's the best pizza I've had in Santa Barbara. As a chef from Chicago, I have very high pizza expectations. Let's start with the crust: a light, airy, chewy interior surrounded by a crispy, caramelized cheese crust that was perfectly executed. The pepperoni was crisp and slightly salty without being greasy. The house-made tomato sauce was restrained and unobtrusive--just enough to complement the mozzarella, white cheddar, and burrata without overpowering them. The only thing I would change is that it was a little heavy on the pickled chiles. But the pièce de résistance was the hot honey drizzle. It brought everything together and elevated an already outstanding pizza to another level. We also ordered a Caesar salad, but honestly, we couldn't stop eating the pizza long enough to give the salad the attention it deserved. The romaine appeared fresh and crisp, the dressing was thoughtfully packed on the side, and it looked well prepared. We'll definitely be back. If this pizza is any indication of what The Corner Tap is capable of, I can't wait to work my way through the rest of the menu--and next time, enjoy it from that welcoming patio with a cold drink in hand. read more

The staff was great, the food was pretty good. The menu has been expanded significantly! The chop salad was very good though I think the onions overpower it but others would absolutely love all the onions. I will just forgo the onions next time. That said, the salad was exceptional! The Korean fried chicken wings do you need some attention. They were very mushy and to be honest, slimy--not crispy on the exterior and tender on the inside and the gochujang sauce should be switched out. It's a little off in its taste. I feel it should have more of a spicy-savory honey-sweet mouthwatering gochujang balance. Hint, go to Den Den Korean Fried Chicken in Providence, RI--though I need to remember this is a pub and not a Korean restaurant, ...there are better recipes out there that are worth testing out. I think the flavor and texture was off and can be improved on significantly. The pizza was pretty good--great for a pub and even better heated up the next day in a skillet with olive oil making the crust slightly crispy. There's ample outdoor and indoor seating with that perfect Corner Tap vibe. Also, noteworthy, inside the place it is absolutely spotless! Truly, an excellent corner bar and pizzeria. Everything our table ordered was so very good. I went with my book club and really enjoyed it. I told my husband about how great it was and he and my son went a couple of days later to try the pizza and was very impressed by their Detroit style pizza. Unfortunately, I didn't take any pictures of the food, but it was all styled nicely crisp and fresh and truly yummy drinks were also pretty great although I didn't have one. I tried my friends and they were all very nice. I would highly recommend it. It's a great local joint. read more

THE DETROIT STYLE PIZZA HERE IS INCREDIBLE. Stopped by for dinner and grabbed on of these pizzas and they were honestly so flavorful and had high quality ingredients. A must try if your in the area, don't sleep on this place. You will find Cornee Tap on the corner! lol super easy to find and at first glance it seemed like a tasting room/ bar and then we noticed the menus. My wife split a pizza and it was enough for both of us to get full so not bad considering the price and portion! Service is here was very good. Our server was incredibly kind and very on it and we appreciated that. Super chill and laid back resteraunt, what's not to like here. Defenitly will be back next time in SB. Solid location, and the Mesa could definitely use more restaurants--this one fits the bill nicely. A few friendly notes, though. The menu is very meat‑forward. I searched with determination (and optimism) and couldn't find a single vegetarian‑friendly entrée. I eat fish, but this seriously limits who I can bring along. In 2026, that feels less "bold culinary choice" and more "missed opportunity." The upside? The pizza. Ordering it without sausage turned out to be a winning move. It's excellent. Detroit‑style is one of my favorites, and they pull it off shockingly well for a place that isn't even a pizza joint. The takeaway: toss a couple of vegetarian or fish options on the menu. Corner Tap is a solid choice for good food and drinks with a laid-back sports bar vibe. I ordered a Paloma, which was delicious, and Nashville's Hot Chicken. The chicken was perfectly tender on the inside and crispy on the outside, but it was surprisingly mild and didn't come with pickles, which I missed. The standout dish for me was the cauliflower--it was so tasty, and the sauce was so good I even dipped my sandwich in it! The service was fast and friendly, though I wish I had visited on a quieter night since Monday Night Football made it pretty loud inside. This review is solely to rate the pizza. This place was recommended to me as they raved about the pizza. I was surprised by the size of the pizza. I ordered the Notorious P.I.E. This is made with pepperoni, hot honey, white cheddar and jalapeño. The jalapeños and spicy honey make it spicy for spicy sensitive folks. This was not lacking the flavor. The pepperoni was crispy and the crust as well. Did I mention that this is deep dish pizza. Despite it being smaller than other deep dish pizzas that I have tried it was delicious and it was enough to share with three people. I do feel that the price point is a little higher than others. This place is quick and convenient. The service is solid and it's a good neighborhood spot to grab bar food and some drinks. They have live music some nights and outdoor heaters/fire pits which is nice. I've only been here on week nights so it's been easy to get a table. The service is casual and the workers are friendly. I'm not much of a beer person but I usually like the hard kombucha or cider they have on tap. My reason for giving 3 stars despite liking this place is that the food is very average. I ordered the Caesar salad with chicken and I hate to say it, but this was the driest grilled chicken I've ever been served at a restaurant. The pieces were super thin and not tender or juicy at all. I had to douse the chicken in dressing to make it semi enjoyable to eat which was a bummer. The Detroit style pizza was pretty good. I really liked the hot honey and chilis but thought the pepperoni was a little too salty. Overall the pizza was tasty, but I've definitely had higher quality pizzas for the same price. The other time I ate here I was given the wrong order and my friend said his tri tip sliders were super dry. I've had other friends rave about the wings and loaded fries, so I'm thinking the food is hit or miss and it depends on what you order. Although I only am giving 3/5 stars, I would still come here for the chill atmosphere and convenient location. It's a nice addition to the Mesa neighborhood and I like the vibes every time I come here. My father-in-law and his wife live in the Mesa, and they've become regulars at Corner Tap. We went Saturday night when we were visiting Santa Barbara, and it was a great spot for an easy family dinner with both small kids and grandparents. The place was immediately comfortable, with a fun, casual sports bar/gastropub atmosphere. We got a booth with a high chair and our children behaved, thanks in part to the numerous televisions turned to various stations. The boys got their first taste of pro wrestling, watching jacked women attack each other in some ridiculous Australian version of WWE (there was at least one move involving lipstick). Service was friendly and attentive. I liked that the staff recognized Grandpa and Grandma Robyn. There was a robust tap list, and my husband Matt B. and I ordered both of the hazy IPAs: the Made West, brewed in Ventura, and the Tarantula Hill Liquid Candy, brewed in Thousand Oaks. My father-in-law wanted a Bud Light and received one of their palest, lowest ABV beers instead. Everyone seemed okay with this outcome. The menu ran heavy and hearty, with Detroit-style pizza and caloric bar food like wings and nachos and smashburger tacos. There was also a kid's menu, which we appreciated. Our boys had butter pasta as well as plenty of seasoned waffle fries, which we ordered for the table. These were fantastic, crispy and flavorful, and the portion was made for sharing. This was also true of the pizza--our server said one pizza was meant to feed two adults. Matt I split the Notorious P.I.E., which came with red sauce, mozzarella, white cheddar, pepperoni, pickled chilis, burrata, and a Mike's Hot Honey drizzle. I love spice but he doesn't, and we figured he could handle a little hot honey and pick off the chilis. This was not the case. Every bite of that pizza was delicious fire, the chilis fully embedded in the cheese and sauce. I loved it, the thick crust laden with pepperoni and heat. I felt bad for Matt, though. He really struggled to get through that pizza. Otherwise, this was a very pleasant dinner, and I'm sure we'll be back to Corner Tap for more family-friendly meals in the Mesa. I'll miss that Notorious P.I.E., but will have to skip it next time. It's too big to eat alone, and my husband will want food that won't fuck him up like a raging Australian wrestler. read more

We have been regulars here for a while and we are sad to say we will likely stop going after our most recent visit. So so many disappointing things for a dinner out... first ~ it was not busy so the sub-par service could not be explained (wait staff comes across as lazy, unorganized and I personally observed several health code violations (lots of touching of hair, face, beard, etc. - ewww). The table was dirty before we sat down - got a negative vibe when I asked if the entire table to be cleaned (Server only wiped down half?). It took a very long time for someone to actually start engaging with us. No drink menu was provided, causing yet another delay... no plates/napkins/silverware brought before our food was delivered so the food sat until someone finally came by with these necessities. The food was really poor this time. The buffalo wings (normally we think they are the best in town) were completely over-spiced (making then inedible) and the sliders were so so (brioche buns were stale). we have found the quality of the service to be up and down during our previous visits and this time was the worst. First off, the woman who helped my party was confused with the question of "Do you serve this barrel aged beer in Pints?" Because she said yes, then brought me a completely different beer that wasn't even the beer I pointed at and she answered with "Yes!" Even if you weren't sure, just ask us please. This makes the whole situation weird, because I asked prior to ordering, confirmed, then you brought me the wrong beer. Then probably had to waste the previously wrong beer. Second, the food was cold. I was thinking it first as I ate it; and my party agreed. We had to send it back. The manager is GREAT and she's amazing, unfortunately the floor staff and kitchen staff did not deliver. I don't usually get food here and I usually sit on the bar, but we had a large party. The corner tap is just plain ok. Their food menu is nothing special, it's ok food, just not very impressive. The nachos are good, not great, nothing special. The pizza is good just nothing really something to be excited about, the chicken sliders are just plain ok, nothing special.... just make sure to never order any salad from this place. One of the simplist things to make and this place fails at that. When music is playing, it's best to sit far enough away from the noise. The service is better than the food. Overall, if you want a medium priced experience with borderline ok food with really good service and you really don't care about food flavors with a beer selection that is just plain ok...then this place will be great for your low standards. The only thing good you experience is the atmosphere, good conversation with friends and family and really good service.... beyond that, don't expect amazing food especially the salads. Detroit pizza looked incredible, but this style of pizza just isn't for me. The cheese was baked into the bottom of the crust and was too salty for me. I agree with another reviewer about how excessively salty and oily all the food were. While the food tasted pretty good, I didn't feel very good afterwards. I finally was able to try the newly renovated Corner Tap on the Mesa. While the interior appears unchanged, the menu has definitely gotten a revamp for the better. They offer a bunch of local beers on tap, along with a nice variety of cocktails. Our group enjoyed our beverages all around. Unfortunately, the waitress wasn't super confident and had to ask another employee several of our questions--yet at least she found out answers versus just guessing the answers. I'll give her the benefit of the doubt given a new menu. Of course, we came here for the Detroit Style Pizza! They have eight to choose from. The main thing that makes these pies unique is the thick crust that is encrusted in cheese with a nice, doughy interior. While you wait for your food, you can play a game of shuffleboard. The pizzas were outstanding. Sausage has a good amount of flavor and spice if that's your thing. The cheese was tasty but a bit excessive and wayyy saltier than it should be. We were chugging water during and after our meal.That was the one big downfall. We rebalanced our palate with the Pizzookie which is a good-sized chocolate cookie in a skillet. We finished that dessert of quickly. All in all, I'm glad Corner Tap is back open. read more

Well, looks like I'm updating my review again after tonight's take-out experience. We called for take-out at 7:54pm tonight and were informed that the kitchen was closing in 6 minutes and we would be limited in what we could order. We had wanted wings and the pear cashew salad, but since we weren't allowed to order the salad, we got wings, a flatbread pizza and the cauliflower app. The flatbread pizza was very good and looked like it always does. The wings were disappointing. Usually, you get half (or more) fat drumettes, but we got 5 wingettes and 2 small drumettes. The cauliflower is what sent me to Yelp to update my prior reviews. Clearly, we were sold the inedible charred bits in the roasting pan. The dish tasted like grease, olives and charcoal. I'm embarrassed for this Mesa establishment that I was charged $11.25 for such a colossal fail of a dish. It looks nothing like the other pics on Yelp of this dish. On Yelp the pics show fresh greens and herbs on top. There was none of that. The photograph is exactly how it looked when I opened it at home. When we were told the menu was limited, we didn't expect them to scrape the bottom of the pan and sell us the burned dregs. We will rethink ordering take-out from Corner Tap again. Whoever sold us this tonight didn't hesitate to rip us off. read more

After reading about the new menu changes and hearing rave reviews from friends, we decided to check out Corner Tap for dinner. The place was pretty busy on the outside but the inside was nearly empty except for a few people at the bar and I think two tables. It's a seat yourself restaurant which I like so we grabbed a seat inside. The menu is a junk food high school athlete's dream. It's actually the type of fatty cheesy deep fried food that I crave sometimes but we all soon realized that it's extremely heavy and salty. More on that later. There were all sorts of problems from the get go. We were ready to order pretty quickly and when the server came we first asked her if we could get a beer flight because we saw them bringing them to tables plus it's on photos online. She asked me to repeat it twice because the music was SO LOUD inside. When I asked her again where the beer flights were listed, she said she didn't know what that was but could ask the bar. We told her to forget and ordered three drinks. There was a delay after each drink of about 10 seconds while she tapped in her Toast tablet. Then after the third drink she asked me to repeat the first drink again because she had forgotten it. Then came the food order which was not any better. 10 to 20 seconds to mark wings, pizza, etc. I really don't understand what was going on here. We also had to repeat things because again, they were blasting video game music (I am serious) inside. Then came like what felt like an eternity for the food to come. I am not sure if they do this by design but instead of bringing items when they are ready, they delay it and bring everything at once. Why? The good news is the food is good! The wings were my favorite (if you get dry rub they still give you ranch and buffalo sauce). The Detroit Pizza was good too but I am not sure how anyone could eat more than one slice. I think an adult could manage two slices if you didn't order anything out. I don't think anyone realizes how salty and *heavy* it is to eat this style of pizza. We also ordered the broccoli with romessco which was pretty inventive and delicious but it was cooked in a way that was pretty tough and not tender and they don't give you a knife of any kind. It was impossible to cut with a fork. I think this is a great "neighborhood" brewpub type place but I'd recommend sitting outside, speaking very slowly when you order, and really pay attention to what you are getting because it's not like other restaurants where you might order a dish a person to share or something. The food is extremely heavy and salty and you actually get kind of fatigued eating it. I can see recommending this place to certain crowds or groups of people but I can't see myself trying to come here too often. I hope they can fix their noise and ordering system. read more

My husband order a pizza that said in the menu that will have tomato sauce, but they brought one with NO tomato sauce. When we told the server about this mistake, he brought us cold tomato sauce right out of the fridge. Unacceptable! Where has Detroit style pizza been all my life? Don't be discouraged by reading the toppings list and thinking it's "too much, omg sounds heavy". Tell your brain to shut up and just order it.
