We are from out of town and stopped at the location on Carrillo because it was open, and other pizza places were already closed. However, like many other reviews for this location, the employee taking our order and some of her coworkers was extremely rude. From the moment we walked in, the employees gave us hostile looks as if we were inconveniencing them, even though we arrived almost 2 hours before closing. Then, the employee at the cash register was rude to my boyfriend's teenage daughter as she was trying to order. When she ordered and asked the employee a few sinple questions, the employee rolled her eyes, looked at her friend who was working with her, and they both started snickering, which made us extremely uncomfortable and upset. Judging by other yelp amd Google reviews, rude customer service has been an ongoing problem at this establishment. This establishment needs to take care of their customer service problem. I would understand if this was an off night, but other reviews suggest this is a pattern. Pizza was okay, and not worth the rudeness. We will not return, and urge others to find a different establishment with better food and customer service. read more

I have lived in Santa Barbara 4 year and had been to Rusty's once before when they charged my card twice for then same order. It was a real hassle to get my money back. Tonight about 4 years later I decide to go back and order dry wings and cheese bread. The cheese bread was really good but I feel like that is hard to mess up. Delivered burned pizza, then refused to give me a refund. Pretty ridiculous for a place that already makes barely-edible pizza. We used to buy a lot of pizza from Rusty's for my company (we do a weekly pizza night), but have since switched to Giovanni's, which is much better (and has much better customer service). I'd try somewhere else if I were you. I tried to speak with a manager named "Gary", and then "Sergio" said no. When I said I would deny the charges, they put me on hold for 10 minutes, then said they would give me a refund only if they came back to my house and picked up the pizza (at 11:45PM). Came to Rusty's to enjoy some pizza and wings but was given very bad customer service. We ordered a Large pizza and the large order of wings with 5 drinks which totaled out to around $55.00. With the wings, it included 2 containers of ranch. We asked for more ranch containers (Since there was 5 of us, we wanted our own) and they charged us around $2 for 3 extra containers. I saw a different person at the register so we kindly approached him and asked for more ranch cups and he gave them to us without an extra charge. Why did the lady charge us and the guy didn't? This was very odd because every other Rusty's I go to, they never charge for the ranch containers. I would understand if we would of ordered a small pizza but it was a LARGE pizza and LARGE wings. Apart from that, when we received our food, they didn't provide us with plates and when we asked for them, the lady gave us attitude about it and walked away. Not to mention our pizza wasn't even cut into 12 slices which is what a Large pizza contains. They where also barely even cut so we had to basically separate them ourselves. Wings tasted like they where microwaved and very sour (I ordered the hot flavor). I've been living in Santa Barbara my whole life and I've always had great experience at all the rusty's in town except for last night. I am very disappointed with her customer service, as for the guy, he was very kind and generous. Wish we would of taken pictures so I could attach them. I called about 15 minutes after the order was placed and asked to add two ranches to our large pizza (the ranch is supposed to be complimentary with a large pizza order) and they charged me an extra $1.20 for them. I then waited patiently for the pizza to arrive to find that they forgot to bring the ranch and still charged me. Shortly after I checked my bank app and noticed they had charged me twice. Not sure why no one has rated this location yet, because I think it must be one of the best. Certainly has the best ambiance of all the locales that I'm familiar with, since it has the woody rustic decor inside and out. I thought the Pizza here was very good, thin crust was just the right thickness (not ultra thin, but not doughy), and ingredients were in right proportions. We asked for it cooked crisp but not burned (as we always do), and it was done absolutely perfect. Kudos. FYI -- being originally from Chicago, we certainly know our Pizza; and, while I've definately had better in my old hometown, this was darn good. I'd recommend it and intend to return. read more

Cool it mama bear!!! So this place really does have great food. However, the attitude and looks from the main mama bear at the register make you really think twice about having a meal here. I know some people hate their jobs but at least make it a warm experience to be able to enjoy a meal at this establishment. I would not recommend this place. We came here to eat because there was no one in the building it seemed like they practiced social distance rules, but as we were eating a party of about 20 ppl walked and sat in the section we were in, filling up the tables and even the booths they had roped off. There were no middle tables blocked or anything after that party arrived so all these ppl were in a crammed space. no 6ft. apart and I was shocked to see that the business allowed all these ppl to walked in there all fill it up without saying anything. We have our son that has asthma and therfore makes him high risk so we had to get up in the middle of our lunch and leave. My son has not been out in months and its unfortunate he had to experience a HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE because the business allowed them to just fill up the place and not say anything at all!!! Rusty's, Rusty's is good pizza. It's a little bit pricey so if I'm comparing food quality and taste to price is where I got my rating. I also wanted to point out that I don't. I think that is what you would call bull shit. Pretty sure that the point of tipping is how good was your server on serving you the items I requested. When the bill comes in is $200 what does that have to do with how well the server did their job? Now if my tip was based on the cook's performance in the cook was getting the tips I understand this. It's just another way that Society Baker's their actions on repetitive motion and what is normal. But something I heard recently. .... I want to be uncommon amongst the uncommon. I don't care if the bill is $10 or $100 I am tipping the server based on their performance of their job. Yes I have tipped $10 on a $10 bill and yes I have $5 on $100 ticket and I feel no shame or guilt. I was a server in restaurant and a bartender for many years and I was damn good so I deserved every tip I received. Not that I'm going off on a tandem or anything but I also hate that civilians that don't understand how to tip tip a server because their meat was too pink (speaking about a steak). Who are they tipping, the Cook or the server? Get my point? 10 yeah and Rusty's have a really good salad bar. Went out to watch the Fiesta events on Friday night with my husband, sister in law and brother in law. We decided that we really wanted pizza before we drove home an hour away. We rushed over the the location with 5 minutes before closing time thinking if they turn us away its ok, we would go somewhere else, but we get in and nothing is said to us, so we order and go to sit down. Our order was about $60.00 keep in mind...so after a few minutes the man in charge (didn't catch his name) told my brother in law that they were closed and that we needed to take it to go. There were still two families in the restaurant eating, but we decided not to make it a big deal, and asked for a refund. At that time, I told the worker that he should have told us when we walked in instead of waiting until we ordered and sat down, his response...he started yelling and pointing his finger saying "I toll you, I toll you, I toll him over there," and started pointing at my husband who only tried to order a beer and was told that they were no longer serving beer, nothing else. I told him that he didn't need to yell, and that he was being very unprofessional. If he would have told us when we go there then we would have gone somewhere else! No problem. He was not listening, just yelling. It was embarrassing, since the other families were watching this. Anyway we left, went to IN and OUT and got GREAT service from them. For much less at that! NARDONNE'S IS WAY BETTER though (and by no means is this review about a significantly better pizza place in Santa Barbara, less than a mile away that everyone should go to). Been going to Rustys since I could hardly walk. That being said, the owner of this location, or manager, is a complete fucking asshole. I parked in the big lot for CVS, rustys, and the apartment building, to go to a restaurant right next door. And a lady came out to argue with me about how I can't park there unless I'm going to CVS or Rustys. Which I get it, it's fine. But there is zero signage, and the buddy neighbor doesn't have really parking at all. It's just bad business. You don't think that when rustys overfills they go to the small little lot for their buddy restaurant??! I mean come on. There were plenty of parking spots too!!! It wasn't even a full lot, which would make more sense. Santa Barbara is a nice town. Keep it that way. Terrible business practices. Terrible company. Great food. Go for the food, but know you're supporting bad juju for SB. Nardonne's wouldn't be so rude to people. I don't get why that place isn't bigger. Never going to Rustys. read more
