This is a great pizza spot. It is very loyal to the east coast style of pizza. I was happy to find a legit east coast pizzeria in the area. The express part is really upheld here. It pains me to give a 2 star review but Service is an integral part of the experience. Kinda' dirty, dark and dingy interior.Another terrible experience starting with an unfriendly call ordering only to be met with someone who seemed as if she wished was anywhere but there Zero eye contact, no greeting, slammed the Apple Pay thingy when I asked about Apple Pay. She did ask if I wanted any cheese or peppers, and again slammed the parm on top of the box, although she did give me more than a couple. I still left her a cash tip in a jar, slowly putting it in so she would notice, hoping it would make her happy, but no thank you, nada. The Pizza is SUPERB , even though she forgot to add the pepperoni I requested. The guy that has helped me before was no different. Does Gino still own this place? Service/delivery was very fast. We ordered a small, pepperoni, sausage, and cheese pizza with a Milanese salad. The pizza was cooked well but the sausage was cut too thick for my taste. The favor was okay and the crust was tender but I prefer thin crust. The salad was fresh but was only lettuce and tomatoes. However, the tomatoes were perfectly ripe and I usually have to throw tomatoes out. These were worth eating! The lettuce was fresh and crisp. The presentation could have been better as you'll see from my picture. The generous portion was large enough for 3-4 people. I typically give new restaurants more than one chance to peak my interest and impress me in order to become a repeat customer. The jury is still out on this one. Decided randomly to try this place. We got the pesto chicken sandwich and it was absolutely incredible! The bread is soooo toasted and crunchy is amazing! The panini was sooooo cheesy! Panini was sooo good that my husband had to get one to go too! We shared one with a salad and so affordable. For $12 we both got to enjoy a panini + salad. I have been looking for New York style pizza, by the slice, in Santa Barbara since 1987. Have tried many "good" pizzas, but never quite the New York taste. Saw a post yesterday that Gino's had it. So, my wife and I went. Yes, it was small (very NY feel). Smelled good, but lacked the smell I expected. My wife and daughter asked ordered specialized personal pizzas, and I was ready for a slice, but they had none! Lorenzo, the owner, said he'd make me one in 10 minutes if I wanted to wait. I did. He threw in a family sized salad and the slice on the house. Took it home to eat, and it was great! Thin crust. Able to fold and eat. I think it may have needed more oregano and no grease drip that I was used to, but probably better healthwise. Was it NY pizza? Almost. Will I go again? Absolutely. Craving an Italian sandwich and this was a block from the courthouse- USA's most beautiful courthouse. I ordered a meatball sandwich and wife the ham with salad. Oh and a Stella! The salad was big enough to share and nothing fancy- tomato and lettuce. Sandwiches could be shared but I guess they were that good that we finished both. They call them paninas but they use what looks to be pizza dough same as calzones. Both our sandwiches were filled with quite a lot of ham and meatballs. Very small inside with about 4 tables and one outside. They also have a counter with chairs. Quick service, tasty food and nothing fancy. I'll be back! read more

Gino's is hands-down the BEST pizzeria in SB. The crust is thin and crispy and cooked to perfection with just the right portion of cheese and toppings. I recommend the Gino's Special for a little of everything. Their calzones are huge and loaded and their paninis are diabolically good. And just as importantly, the people that work there are warm and friendly and truly care about their food and customers. The cool black and white photos of old NYC are an extra bonus. Giant calzones almost as big as my arm? Yes please! I got capicola and green peppers, and I was almost alarmed when the dish came out just by the size alone. I was satisfied with how full these calzones were despite only having two toppings and cheese, i thought they might have skimped since they were strict about the two ingredients; but very happy that my prediction was incorrect. We were looking for something quick for dinner and we ended up at Gino's. It's a hole in the wall place on Figueroa (?). We missed it driving there but did find it when we walked there. We both ordered the "panini's". I got the pesto chicken and my husband got the chicken parmesan. Both were listed as panini's. Well, they are really pizza's that are folded over but not sealed like a calzone. They were quite tasty and there were HUGE. We also ordered salads with our panini's. The cook asked if we wanted a ceasar or regular salad. We asked what's the difference. He said they are basically the same except the regular salad had tomatoes.... haha... he was right. Same dressing - I think it was ranch-ish dressing. It was fine but not what we would have thought of as ceasar salad. Overall, it was pretty good though. We could only finish about half of it. We had the rest for lunch the following day. We'll try the pizza next time. It looked and smelled great. read more

New York Style Pizza in Santa Barbara?! YES. After spending time in NYC and upstate NY, I have been craving NY pizza for the longest time and Gino's took me right back! The service was lovely and quick as we ordered slices and garlic knots. We got our food in about 5-10 min. This slice was probably the best slice I have had in since a long time. From the first bite, I was already planning the next time I was coming back to Gino's. It was THAT GOOD. The garlic knots were definitely fresh and soft, but just the taste was not for me. The most reasonably priced lunch in Santa Barbara is a tasty pizza slice, fresh salad, and a drink for under $10. Being so close to downtown you'd think they'd up the prices but luckily for us, they remain as inexpensive as they are tasty. I wouldn't say it's necessarily NYC style, as the crust is missing that bit of chew, but it's a hand-made dough and you can add whatever toppings you'd like to your slice. I got the ever-so-controversial pineapple and a side of ranch. Clearly I'm not a purist, but I'm from the northeast so I know a little about pizza. Gino's had a zesty sauce, didn't overwhelm with the cheese, and had that signature oily flop so it hit the spot. If you're visiting town and need a quick lunch that won't break the bank, this is now my go-to suggestion. Other pizza spots on State pale in comparison to Gino's, and should only be an option after some late night shenanigans. Loved it! We are from out of town so we had a little hard time finding Gino's but for sure it was worth it. The young lady that waited on us was very kind. Places like Gino's are getting harder and hard to find. We can't stand going to chain type of pizzeria joints. Gino's pizza was just right. I tried the "Chicken Pesto panini " They told me I got the last sandwich bread used to make it. Not sure if me getting the last one was worthy of a medallion. But hey, I enjoyed the sandwich And I can see I will be back to taste it again Next time I seek to be the first to get the sandwich bread The taste of the pesto was good, above average. Here are some things that would have made this sandwich better. Ask for more pesto ( I liked the flavor) Ask if the chicken can be cut into smaller pieces ( definitely real chicken breast, it was a little on the dry side) I don't mind that. But most will.
