It's your typical ice cream spot. Do they make mistakes, yes. They are a bunch of high school kids in a box running the place. It has 2 lines outside and it's always busy. They do make cakes if you order in advance. The cakes are pretty good but carvel ice cream cakes are still better. The parking situation sucks! The parking lot is small and with all the pedestrian traffic and the main road traffic it can be daunting to leave the place. read more

Only reason my wife and I picked this Ice Creme spot is because it was the only one that was open Late and she was craving ice Creme badly, so I took the drive to the town over and yes I get it you had a long day your about to close you wanna clean up and go home yourself and customers keep showing up BUT not the customers fault is it ??? Nice location off of Park Ave in Rutherford. They have a small lot with some parking spaces for customers. They have soft serve ice cream sundaes with many favors to choose from. I usually get the strawberry sundae but sometimes get the the banana split. They have the full DQ ice cream menu including slushes and Orange Julius items as well. Its seems clean and they serve you quickly if there's no line. The good part is they open all year round so you can eat ice cream during the winter months. Some other ice cream places closes during the winter months but not DQ. There's seating outside but during the winter I suggest eating in your car. Overall, this location is clean and have friendly service. Get your ice cream fix here if you're in the Meadowlands area. read more

Local Dairy Queens is like American hangout place during summertime. Crowded parking lot with people in all ages kids to adults. I usually stick with basic Oreo-Blizzard when its time to order at the DQ window. Pros: RIDICULOUS amounts to choose from, ice cream cones to cakes to Sundae. Only thing missing is chicken sandwich and salad (oh wait they do serve those now?). Cons: Ordering can get confusing at the DQ window. Pricey and can get lot more for your money at frozen section of Shoprite. read more

I ordered a mint oreo blizzard for my son. He started complaining of the taste. I thought it was him being picky, but after tasting it myself I understood what he meant. Always good, always. We tried the coconut cream blizzard. It was decadent, sprinkled with toasted coconut and vanilla wafer cookies. It wasn't overly sweet, and was ready in a minute or so. I'm so so disappointed. I love Dairy Queen and have been going to this Dairy Queen for a decade, But I've never been more disappointed in a customer service experience. I ordered a cake for my son's 6th birthday. I spoke to someone 3 different times about the cake I wanted and when I wanted it picked up. Yet it was still not ready when I went to pick it up. When I went back 5 hours later to get it, it was not decorated as it should have been. I was not offered one apology throughout this entire experience. I called three times to speak to a manager over the course of a week and was told Shana, one of the managers, would call me. It's now been 2 weeks and I was never called. I never thought I would write a one star review about a Dairy Queen but I had the worst blizzard of my life at their rutherford store. Dairy Queen has the most amazing blizzard of the month out right now, grasshopper mousse pie. I have had this at several of their shops and the graham cracker flavor in it is to die for. I was going to an event at the izod center and drove out of my way to have a blizzard before the show. I excitedly ordered a small grasshopper pie blizzard. I didn't realize at the time but they charged me for a medium and gave me a medium rather than a small. If I wanted a medium I would've ordered one! I simply cannot afford the extra hundreds of calories! So they handed the "grasshopper pie" blizzard over and when I got in the car I knew it did not have the wonderful graham cracker taste in it. The graham cracker is what makes this blizzard fantastic. I went back to let them know they forgot the graham cracker base. They assured us that it's in there. I started eating more of it in my car and knew it wasn't there and to prove it I found some pieces of animal crackers in my blizzard. Apparently this was their replacement of the graham cracker base. Are you kidding me, Dairy Queen?! I swear they must've thought I'm an idiot with no taste buds. We returned and the manager confirmed my suspicions that this was not an authentic grasshopper mousse pie blizzard. I was SO disappointed!! They offered to make another blizzard and asked for the mint Oreo one (my go to flavor). They made me a medium mint Oreo blizzard and they had put so much mint flavoring in it that it was bitter, nasty, and the consistency was like soup! We both hated it and threw it out half way. We love Dairy Queen on Park Avenue in Rutherford! Always get our birthday cakes from DQ. After school the kids always want to stop there before heading home! Staff is friendly, the store is clean and there are seats (picnic style) right outside. Also, PLENTY of parking as they have a lot which sells Christmas Trees! Also purchased two trees there and very happy, fresh trees! I had a problem with a cake recently, I emailed Konstantine (the owner) he promptly called me in the phone and made things right! I'm addicted to this place!!! The girls here make the best blizzards! It's a walk up window, and if you're crazy like me and only want ice cream when it's cold, it can be a little inconvenient to stand outside in 20 degree weather waiting for ice cream. The only good thing I could probably say about doing that is there are no lines. This is more of a 2.5 rather than a 3. My first job was at a DQ so I know the product and quality is good. I also know that when there is nationally advertised pricing that they are supposed to follow. Yet this location picks and chooses which one it wants to do. So the current promo is $1.99 for a mini Blizzard (which I am so happy they came out with its the perfect size) they aren't offering this promo. The workers said the owner only does promo's during the summer. They already get plenty of people in the summer why offer a deal when your line is already 10 people deep? You should offer it when its still cool out and people still want ice cream. This DQ gets busy very quickly, but the staff does an excellent job at quickly serving each customer despite long lines and complicated orders. They have multiple windows you can order from, and if you'd like to get through the line quicker choose a line with less kids, only because at times hey have trouble deciding on what to order once they get up to the window - although adults have been guilty of this too. read more

I go to this dairy queen because it is the closest one. I wish there was another close by. This is specifically referring to their blizzard. EVERY time my girlfriend and I have ordered one, the last quarter of the blizzard is only ice cream. No toppings whatsoever. I tried bringing it up to them but still nothing improves. I even tried paying extra for more scoops and they still shorted me! They fail to realize that a medium or large requires more toppings then a small. Also I know that it is hot out but that shouldn't mean the ice cream is watery by the time it reaches my hand. There blizzards always have a lot of ingredients like Oreos or mnm's. There's outdoor seating and private parking which is a +. The staff is friendly and always working and familiar with the menu. DO NOT purchase a specialty ice cream cake from this store! Last week I ordered a specialty Disney Princess edible image ice cream cake online from this Dairy Queen location for my daughter's 4th birthday. The image online was super cute - it had several Disney princesses in an edible image frame, with a space in the middle to place my daughter's photo. The photo I selected of my daughter was her dressed up as Elsa - I knew this cake would just blow her mind and totally make her birthday spectacular! I ordered the cake on a Monday afternoon and then called the store to confirm the order and make sure everything was received. The girl who answered the phone was totally unhelpful and seemed to care less about my questions, but I figured the staff would still be able to pull off the cake, since it just consisted of placing the edible image on top. I didn't hear from Dairy Queen all week, until I received a phone call at 8:30pm on Thursday night - we were scheduled to pick up the cake at 11:30am on Friday morning. The staff member told me that the edible image I had purchased was not at the store, and that they would not be able to put it on the cake. I was very disappointed, not only because of the missing image but because of the short notice I was given that it would not be available. The woman who called assured me that the cake would still look great - she promised that she would print out color pictures of Disney princesses online and use them to from the photo of my daughter on the cake. I agreed, mostly because it was about 12 hours before I needed the cake. When my husband went to pick up the cake the next day, it was a DISASTER. The staff told him that they were having problems with the printer, and could not print any of the Disney princesses out. Furthermore, the photo of my daughter was printed out in green! She literally looked like Princess Elsa had a baby with the Hulk. We were told this was due to the "printer problems." The piping and icing on the cake was messy, also. It looked terrible, and I felt SO bad that this was the cake I would be serving at my daughter's 4th birthday party. Despite the utter disaster of the cake itself, the employee still charged my husband $10 for the cake. If I were there, I would have left it on the counter and walked out, because it really looked awful. I could understand that Dairy Queen had issues with their printer. What I cannot understand and certainly cannot accept is that they waited until the night before at 8:30pm to tell me that the edible image was unavailable, and then proceeded to present us with a cake that was ugly, messy, and totally unlike what we ordered. The customer service is horrible at this location. I have called twice to speak to a manager and have been told that there is not a manager on duty. Maybe the staff's lack of supervision is the reason why this location is run so poorly. Again - DO NOT BUY CAKES FROM THIS STORE! Acme, ShopRite, or Baskin Robins would do a much better job in helping you prepare for your child's birthday party! read more

I ordered a cake for my daughter's birthday party 4 days before the party from their web site. I received an email confirmation from Dairy Queen. On the party day, when I went to pick up the cake, only 2 young people worked there. They couldn't find any cake or my order. One person called his manager, the manager told him no cake means I never ordered it. I showed him email confirmation and demanded to talk to his manager on the phone. When the manager learned that I have email confirmation, she told me she is not the one who checks emails. Her attitude is still we messed you up, so what. Eventually, they asked me to leave my phone number. They called me back later and said I can pick up a cake at 5 pm and would give me 50% discount. I told them the party would be over by 4:30 pm. I wouldn't need a cake at 5 pm. It's bad enough that they don't know how to take an online order. Their horrible attitude toward customers is even worse. read more
