Went out before a show. You hear about their reputation but you need to eat there. Their steaks are perfection achieved. The 500degree plate is no joke. It keeps the steak just right to the last wonderful bite. Yes maybe you're paying $5 more per steak than at other places but it's 100% worth it. They are a steak icon for a reason. read more

Celebrated a birthday and a coaching win here a few weeks back and the service was impeccable! Annette took great care of us all night! She was so attentive and personable! A true asset to the company! Scott came over to introduce himself as well and checked on us to make sure everything was up to par! Every staff member we were in contact were kind and courteous! Our food was great! Presentation was lovely and the taste knocked it out of the park! One thing that stood out to us and made us feel a bit more relaxed was that it wasn't as quiet as the typical Ruth's Chris are. We've been to our share of RC's and most are quiet and uptight! But this one was filled with love and laughter! It felt good to be able to enjoy a great meal, talk and giggle, and not be afraid to do so! We had a private event at Ruth's Chris tonight. The room we were in was pretty spacious and it was a presentation set up with everyone sitting on either side of one long table. The set up made me crane my neck a little which wasn't my favorite. Our staff was super nice and accommodating. I had to leave a little early and requested ahead of time that my dessert be boxed up around 7:30pm which they remembered! We got stuffed mushrooms for appetizers and they were good. I like that their bread comes out warm although the butter they gave us was very cold and solid. This steakhouse's signature trademark is their steaks coming out on super hot plates sizzling in butter. My ribeye was a good size and had good flavor. I enjoyed the mashed potatoes. The broccoli was bland but I'm okay with it because I'll just pop my leftover broccoli in the air fryer at home. I haven't had a chance to try the chocolate cake yet but it looks really good! read more

Ruth's Chris has always been a favorite of mine. Went here last night to catch up with some friends. We got a lot of menu items so I'll try to keep this brief. For appetizers, we tried the crab stuff mushrooms, spicy shrimp, and calamari. All were delicious. Was a big fan of the crab stuffed mushrooms and spicy shrimp. Also got cocktails and a bottle of wine for the table. My old fashioned was pretty average. Slightly disappointing for such a nice restaurant. Bottle of wine was great. For my entree, had to go with a ribeye of course. Steak was great as always. Delicious. They sure know how to make a good steak. Side dishes consisted of lobster mac, mashed potatoes, and brussel sprouts. All were tasty, but the lobster mac and cheese was the star of the show. Huge pieces of lobster meat. 10/10. Dessert was a slice of their chocolate sin cake. Wouldn't necessarily call this "cake"... more like a slice of fudge/mousse. Whatever it was, it tasted good. Overall, it's hard to be disappointed with anything when dining with Ruth's Chris. Service is amazing. Food is superb. Can't wait to come back for more read more

A year ago we came to this restaurant for a special occasion and long story short...it was not great. This year, when my out-of-town company insisted we go back, I was hesitant but said I would give it one more try. Tl;dr - tonight's meal was exactly as I would expect from Ruth's Chris (complimentary!). The staff was so attentive, the food was really great, and the martini was perfect. Matthew, our server, was awesome and on his GAME. It is a chain, but there is something to be said for that (sometimes). The meat is high quality, it was cooked to perfection (our rare-to-medium-rare steaks were en pointe), and this Nebraska boy was happy as a clam. Next year, we will be back! read more

The host, servers, food runners, those filling up water glasses, everyone! Ambiance & atmosphere: 3/5. The decor was lacking.. looked like a hotel restaurant inside. The tables were SO close together. We could hear the conversions of everyone beside us. It was not a romantic/ intimate setting at all. Appetizers: 6/5. We both got steak... because it's a steak house... and we're both so underwhelmed with our steaks. Were they good? Sure. Were they worth steakhouse prices? Nope. Such a great, actually my favorite steak house in pittsburgh! they have a fantastic menu. I always opt for the option where you get a salad or soup, steak, a side, and a dessert all included in one price. It's a steal and it's delicious! It's honestly the only steak house that offers this. I try other things off the menu but keep going back to the selected items. I always get the Caesar to start and it's delicious. Then my side is the creamed spinach, I didn't think i would love it but I LOVE it (only from here). I get the filet with shrimp the season on the shrimp is phenomenal and for dessert the cheesecake. I personally love sitting at the bar. It's a nice view of the ppg ice skating rink. Around the holidays it has the perfect view of the tree. The food was absolutely amazing -- compliments to the kitchen. Unfortunately, the service really ruined the experience for us. Our server never checked in on us during the meal, forgot two of our dishes, and didn't offer an apology or attempt to fix the situation. She also made an inappropriate comment about my age, saying I looked older than I am -- which was rude, unprofessional, and completely unnecessary. That kind of attitude has no place in a customer-facing role. She had long nails and blond hair, in case management needs to identify her. I don't usually leave reviews like this, but I believe respectful and attentive service is just as important as the food. I hope this is taken seriously -- no one wants to spend money to be treated like that. read more

My family and I decided to come to Ruth's Chris for Restaurant Week this year and it was fantastic. We made a reservation prior for 8 people and our table was ready for us before we arrived so we could immediately sit. Our waitress was great, she did a great job of accommodating our party without any issues and even gave us recommendations on the food since a few of us had questions. The complimentary bread and the opening Caesar salads were delightful. I ordered the 16oz pork chop and it was stellar, great taste and juicy. The strawberry cheesecake dessert was the perfect end to a great evening. As a steakhouse, Ruth Chris upholds its promise to deliver melt-in-your-mouth and well seasoned steaks. We have been on a steakhouse journey throughout Pittsburgh and this place is up there as one of our favorites. Service was very attentive and always checking in on us. To start, we shared crab cakes and Ruth Chris salad which were already winners. The steaks, both filets, were done to our liking and stayed warm until the last bite. As a side, we opted for sautéed spinach with garlic which paired really well with the steaks. We were full but decided to round out our meals with desserts - so we each got the cheesecake and chocolate sinful cake. While they were delectable, we wished that we shared since they were both so luxurious. We made sure not to leave any crumbs on the plate. Our server was amazing and everyone who had a hand in our table was on point. There was a little mix up in one of our meals, but it was promptly fixed and delivered by a manager and he was making sure everything was perfect with the new meal and checked back twice, which we appreciated. I had the filet and shrimp, but I was a little underwhelmed with the presentation and taste. I asked for medium rare and when it came out on the sizzling hot plate I feel like it kept cooking and it seemed to be more like a solid medium to medium well. The restaurant itself is a little dark for me. A little more light would be nice. The blinds were all mostly closed and there wasn't a lot of natural light coming through either. In comparison to other steakhouses downtown, I would say this is somewhere in the middle. read more

This was my first time here and I brought my guy for his bday. We had reservations and it was a fairly empty Sunday, we were seated right away. He ordered the strip steak and mashed potatoes. I ordered the asparagus + petite filet and shrimp. My steak was perfectly cooked rare (see photo) and soooo tender, to die for. We also had the shrimp appetizer pictured but I don't remember what it was called. They brought a personal size cheesecake with happy birthday written on it which was so nice of them. We had cocktails and old fashion drinks, old fashion was made well and strong however cocktails weren't worth it. Paid $15/five sips of cocktail which was basically koolaid to me. All and all we know this is more of a special occasion place and the quality is worth the price of the steaks, fresh meaty shrimp. I like the dim lit atmosphere a lot. My only con is that I didn't find the staff very friendly or really having people skills so that stuck out for me. I came here for my 21st Birthday the other day and had a phenomenal evening! I have been to other Ruths Chris Steak Houses in the past, and this was definitely one of the nicer ones that I've been to. The service was superb, we were never out of water or bread, and they were continuously checking in on us to see if we needed anything. We started off with the Calamari and the Seared Ahi Tuna as the appetizers for the table. The Calamari was good as it wasn't overly breaded and it was tossed in a sweet thai chili sauce and had some peppers in there too. The seared Ahi tuna was my favorite though. It was barely seared on the outside, seasoned nicely, and served with cucumbers, red onions, and red bell peppers. This dish was phenomenal and I would highly recommend starting with it. I then went on to have a cup of the lobster bisque. This was okay, as there were only a couple of very small pieces of lobster in the soup. However, the bisque was nice and creamy though! For the entrees, I had the Petite Filet and Shrimp with a Lobster Tail. The steak was cooked exactly how I had asked, the shrimp were beautifully plated and nicely spiced, and the lobster tail tasted delicious! All of the other entrees were variations of the one I had ordered: the Filet with a Lobster Tail, the Petite Filet with Shrimp, and the Petite Filet. Everyone's food was cooked exactly how they had asked! For the sides, we got a Lobster Mac and Cheese, a Garlic Mashed Potatoes, an Asparagus with Hollandaise Sauce on the side, and Creamed Spinach. The Lobster Mac and Cheese was a little underwhelming, as there was only enough lobster to be had for two people but so much mac and cheese. The mac and cheese itself was very average and there was nothing very special about it. The Garlic mashed potatoes were good! They were your classic steakhouse garlic mashed potatoes and accompanied all the steaks very nicely. The Asparagus was wonderful! With all of the meat we were eating, it was really nice to have a fresh vegetable as a side dish. The Hollandaise sauce was also nice, a little strong on the lemon, but went well with the asparagus. The creamed spinach was also nice. I didn't have much of it, but no one seemed to be complaining about it! I thought this was a very nice steakhouse! The appetizers were great! I would definitely go for the Seared Ahi Tuna over the Calamari, but both were fantastic! The steak, shrimp, and lobster were all cooked very nicely! First time in many years at the Pittsburgh location and this time only for happy hour. Had the $10 burger with fries on the happy hour menu. The burger was sizable and tasty but the patty was cookie cutter style so I think quality scaled down a bit for happy hour, but that's ok with me cause still a value in my opinion, as well as most of their other HH menu items for $10. A couple value wines and standard beers also for HH. Worth a try. They have remodeled in last couple years so nice job with decor. In Pittsburgh, if not nationwide (as reinforced in Consumer Reports and Yelp! reviews), I believe Capital Grille is tops, though no happy hour there. :) read more

A great spot in downtown Pittsburgh. Made a reservation with Open Table. Was able to find some street parking nearby but it does sound like they validate for a parking garage (not sure which one). Restaurant space is very nice. Staff was friendly and service was great. They have a eclectic cocktail list. We started with the Spicy Shrimp which was fantastic, great for sharing. The filet was my entree, very good and if you are a bleu cheese fan like myself, definitely add the crust. They gave a complimentary birthday dessert for one of us, nice touch. Places like this always sort of make me feel out of place which I think is completely wrong. When you walk in it feels very upscale and sterile. Flashy chandeliers, wall of a billion wines, white table clothes, etc. Not saying that isn't right, it's fine but I feel a restaurant no matter what kind of food they serve, should feel inviting. Like going to your mother's house for your favorite cooked meal. There weren't a ton of people this weeknight but I felt the waitresses seemed to be staring each time they walked by instead of going about their evening. Our waiter was pretty fabulous! He was kind and warm to greet us, gave us great suggestions for food and drinks and checked on us just enough to ensure we were doing well. He recommended the sweet potato dish and told us it was basically a dessert and boy was he not kidding. It was the most delicious and happy dish!! Both my friend and I got steaks and I have to say, for it being a steak house, I felt extremely let down by it. I've had way better steaks for a cheaper price at that. We both got seafood along with it, my friend the lobster and me the crab with asparagus and both of the fishes were delicious. Overall food wise, it was tasty but we both agreed it was not all it's cracked up to be. The waiter did bring a tasty dessert to celebrate my friends 30th birthday and that was heavenly. I enjoyed my experience here. I'm at the Pittsburgh location for happy hour however, there is no indication on their website that they have happy hour. As of now, they do from 4:30 until 6:30 with specially priced appetizers and drinks. I especially enjoyed the shrimp. They are fried and we substituted having them tossed in the sweet/chili sauce normally used for the calamari. They are normally tossed in a siracha cream sauce. That was an awesome swap if you are not a Mayo fan. I wasn't a fan of the ahi tuna. We also got the calamari appetizer which is tossed in the sweet chili sauce. It was ok. read more

Really enjoyed our dinner. The atmosphere is very clubby with dimmer lights and very comfortable chairs. The wine list is large, has a great variety at a real variety of prices. The pricing seems to be similar to most restaurants on the normal bottles with the standard mark up but there are some really nice hard to find wines but you petter be on an expense account. The staff was great and very personable and did not rush us. Had someone assist with our wine order and they were helpful in advising us on a couple of wines, so we could pick one that we would really enjoy. We decided to skip an appetizer and split the lettuce wedge which had some real sharp blue cheese and tasty bacon. A real good start and splitting it was the perfect size. My steak and shrimp was really good and both were perfectly cooked. The steak was tender and had a great flavor. We also split an order of Brussel sprouts. That was a mistake. The sprouts were soft and spongy and had very little taste kind of surprised at this misstep. All in all, we really enjoyed our dinner and RC. read more

Service and food were outstanding! I made a reservation online where I was able to clearly outline a family member's food allergies. A few days before our reservation I called to make sure we were all the same page about food allergies, and we were! Finally the day of our reservation came and again, the staff went through their notes on our listed allergens = awesome! We arrive at the restaurant, and were quickly taken to our table. Our server came over, fully aware of our allergies and guided us through the menu of items we could have. (Chef reviewed the items previously) Wine for the parents, Shirley temples for the kids. We skipped appetizers and headed straight for dinner and sides, while enjoying some fresh warm bread. Our kids split a petite filet, I enjoyed the Cowboy Ribeye, and my husband had the New York Strip. Each steak was perfectly cooked to each of our likings with minimal seasonings (salt and pepper) and served on 500 degree HOT plates. I LOVED the potatoes au gratin with all its cheesy goodness. One child preferred the fries, while the other preferred the au gratin potatoes. Finally, the steamed broccoli was a big miss mostly due to the size of the pieces and it was barely cooked/hard to cut and eat. While we were pretty full, we felt we could sneak in a bit of dessert. Again, our server walked us through the items that would be safe for us to eat. We split some creme brulee and a triple chocolate mousse. Again, some enjoyed the brulee, others enjoyed the mousse. Neither was a bad choice really! The creme brulee had a nice crunch on top along with some fresh berries. The triple chocolate mousse was again....delicious. For being the best steakhouse in Pittsburgh---I don't think Ruth Chris's lives up to that name. But otherwise, it's a delightful restaurant with professional service, a large dining area, and of course, your favorite steaks served in the most indulgent way possible. I started off my night with a calamari, and it was very nice. It wasn't too salty or dry, and the tangy sauce brought an exciting touch to every bite. The squid wasn't the best quality, but given we're in Pittsburgh, I'll give that a bye. Next was the steaks, and wow, Ruth Chris's really brings a new definition to indulgence. Not only can you get your favorite cuts, but you get all the butter you want, cooked with whatever herbs you like, and finished however you please. It's just amazing, and you smell the buttery nuttiness all throughout the restaurant. I had the porterhouse for two, and of course it was great, and had the chew and temperature I wanted. If only I could get a dry aged steak, I'd be in love instantly. With that aside, Ruth Chris's really executes steak the way it should be done. Not too much, but with all the extras you want. Speaking of which, I loved the truffle sauce with the steak. There's always a place for truffle, and I was pleasantly surprised with how well it fit with the steak. Another feature I really loved about Ruth Chris's was their wine selection. They had so many great choices, and at a reasonable price too, which I think brings a lot of merit to their sommelier. I love the consistency of Ruths Chris. You are paying a premium for it being, well, Ruths Chris, but the service and the food are always top notch. This time around I had one of the Pris Fixe meals and was glad I did, it took away that overwhelming feeling of too many good choices. I started with the Steakhouse salad and was really surprised at how sweet the tomatoes were! The bleu cheese dressing is so good you could eat it on toast! Then I had the NY strip and creamed spinach. The strip was so big, I couldnt eat it all, so ended up having it for dinner another night (SCORE!) with the leftover creamed spinach and it was just as good as it was the first time around. It comes to you on a sizzling hot plate and that sizzle made my mouth water. Finished up dinner with a cheesecake, that also came home with me. Its such a great location with the ice skating rink and Christmas tree all lit up. It really was a great experience, so glad we went. read more
