Our first time here and our expectations were exceeded. We knew it was a top tier restaurant but it truly excelled in every way. Service, food, drinks, atmosphere were all top notch. Our server was excellent and the auxiliary staff were courteous and efficient. We started with a calamari appetizer which was a little spicy but delicious. Beware of the two Thai chilies in the mix! Next my husband had the lobster bisque. It was quite rich with a large chunk of lobster as a garnish. Our main courses were a 10 ounce filet, wild caught shrimp stuffed with crabmeat and Chilean sea bass. Everyone loved their entrees. Our son especially loved the filet, it was so tender. We ordered two side dishes for the table and they were plenty for the three of us. Decadent lobster mashed potatoes and crabmeat fried rice. We shared a dessert, creme brûlée which was topped with fresh berries and served with chewy cocoa snowflake cookies. Overall the food was excellent. Service started out a little rocky. I had made a reservation online and it would only let me choose a high top. We don't like high tops so I called the restaurant a few days before and they assured me they could accommodate us with a regular table, not to worry. Upon entering and giving my name for the reservation, the Maitre D'être said it's for a high top. I explained that I'd called and we didn't want a high top. He said he could only offer us a booth in the lounge, so we took it. The lounge had a jazz trio playing and the music was a bit too loud for comfortable conversation. The server had to talk above the music to be heard by us. Luckily they took a break and when they came back the volume was lower. As we were leaving I noticed there was a whole dining room with empty tables which were NOT high tops. So why did they seat us in the lounge? Our drink orders were pretty simple, however because they serve the cocktails from the shaker, the server mixed up the dinks and poured my husband's margarita into my 'dirty' martini glass. So I had a three blue cheese olive margarita! A margarita-tini! He realized what he did, apologized and ran off to get another margarita for my husband. I had eaten the olives and tasted the margarita, which was very good. When he returned, he asked if I still wanted the martini and I laughed and said, yes, that what I ordered. So my husband got the benefit of two Margaritas for the price of one and I got three extra blue cheese olives! That was the only goof up. The rest of the meal was flawlessly served. I felt that even though the prices are high, the portion size and the quality of the food provide a good value. You expect to pay more in a place like this. It was well worth it in my opinion. And if you are there during Happy Hour you can choose cocktails and appetizers from the Happy Hour menu which is quite reasonable. read more

I have a very good friend who happens to be a vegetarian. However, to celebrate birthdays, she likes bringing close friends and family here. Basically, every year her gift to me would be steak dinner at Eddie V's. Also, don't worry, they have plenty of things on the menu for her. This is a "big box" establishment that follows the formula. Meaning you can go to any location in the country and expect the same ambiance, menu offerings, etc. I am a-ok with that because it's always been a lovely experience. It's got old-school, romantic decor vibes. Quite often you can expect live music (pianist, jazz, and so on). The service is exceptional. The food is amazing. Everything is cooked to perfection. Seasoned perfectly and if I am being honest, I never leave any food behind on my plate. They have a nice selection of drinks including mocktails. In a world of big-box, they stand out. read more

Downtown Pittsburgh has several steakhouses to choose from and Eddie V's is very nice. Our server, Mark was very welcoming, offered recommendations, and was knowledgeable about the menu. From the hostess to the food runners, all the staff were professional and experienced. I enjoyed our starters, signature drinks, entrees, and dessert. Note, the side dishes and desserts are family-style portions. There is a dress code and ladies bring your wraps in summer as the air conditioning keeps the dining room cool. Ash was on point with her service and knowledge of the menu. She provided an amazing experience , completely professional while also making us laugh a few times. The manager also came over to ensure everything was running smoothly. I appreciate little things such as that ! The food was was impeccable and exactly expected for the pricing . We've been here a number of times but I always forget to write a review. Really love their drink menu and happy hour prices (food and drinks) are a good deal. Slightly an odd experience upon arrival although the place was empty because it was 5 o'clock we couldn't sit in any of the desirable locations we have asked for so that was a little off putting. Service took a while. They did bring me a little veggie plate since I'm gluten-free and could not enjoy the bread which I thought was very nice. It was just average. The crème brûlée also doesn't have a good nice crunchy shell like it should although it was very tasty it was missing a little bit more of that sugar crunch. read more

Let me start by saying Ron, the server made this evening amazing. My 10 yr old had to join last second and you would've thought we were celebrating her the way he made her feel special. From the recommendations to the drink and dessert he got her. Service was too tier. The food! Fantastic. The Parmesan sole was the best crusted fish I've had. It had a flavorful crunch on the outside but nice and tender on the inside. I will def be comparing all fish going forward to this. The Mac n cheese was flavorful. If you like truffle. Arrived in town to eat at one of our favorite local restaurants to find out it was only doing takeout. Eddie V's was in walking distance so we stopped in and luckily, we got a table for four. Actually, this was my first time dining at Eddie V's. I do have to say that it's not all the hype it's made up to be. Dinner for two was $172.00 I would have thought that the food and the service would've been impeccable, but it was far from it. Our server was nice, but the service was not high-end like the restaurant. the server did not check back very often twice I had to ask for more water. The wedge salad was very good. I had the Seabass that was just average. My husband had the Aji tuna that was phenomenal. The mashed potatoes were underseasoned. This wasn't my first time, and it definitely won't be my last. The food & drinks were unforgettable. I'm actually still thinking about the truffle Mac & Cheese days later. We had oysters, all of which were good but the Moon Light Bay were plump with a perfect brine for me! The tuna crispy rice was sooo delicious, it almost had a croquette quality. The tuna had a fantastic freshness and sashimi-like quality. the tiny dollop of wasabi was smooth, almost like it was whipped. The halibut was so wonderfully cooked: tender and moist it was flaking and sliding apart at the same time. I'd also recommend the Brussel sprouts! The 24K cocktail was a 10/10! Get this, especially if you like grand marnier. I also enjoyed the espresso martini and would recommend. Our waiter Chris provided stellar service and made the experience unforgettable. We had a private event here yesterday night and unfortunately it wasn't as good as our last private event here. First off, our private room was really really dark even after our presentation was over. The inside was quite cold and I would have to leave the private room to warm up because the rest of the restaurant was a normal temperature. The walls were not very soundproof. There was live music yesterday night and it was difficult to hear the other people on the room as a result. For some reason we never got any bread. The filet and salad were decent. The potatoes were good and I thought the asparagus was a little undercooked. I'm not sure why the dessert is family style when it's a portion size for some person. read more

Our waiter was attentive until we ordered our main dishes, which we all chose sides and appetizers as our entrees since they are plenty for a meal. We didn't see him much after that. I cannot remember our servers name. She had brown hair. We sat down and ordered drinks and the eddies tower immediately. Our drinks came about 10-15 min later. 45 minutes later and the eddies tower was not there yet after about 2-3 visits saying it was on the way. After 70 min, the manager came over and said the lobster was bad so they cannot serve it to us. Then the server came over and said the crab was bad. The server said she immediately put our entrees orders in but then offered us appetizers. The appetizers and salads came. The Caesar salad was the worst Caesar I've ever had. Our steaks came but we didn't have steak knives and then our sides came a little later. My steak was a little overcooked compared to the group. We ended getting dessert from the manager and he checked on us. Overall this was my first time to Eddie vs and it was not impressive with the miscommunication of the seafood tower, not telling us and bringing us something instead of having us wait and then the timing of the rest of the meal was just off. Eddie V's is one of the best meals that we have eaten in a while, or possibly ever. Be prepared to have a memorable evening. This restaurant is one that is very impressive and pays attention to every detail. We went there to celebrate my birthday dinner, and upon arrival, we were very intrigued. The servers wear white dinner, jackets, and slacks. We were promptly greeted by a beautiful display of decoration on our table and happy birthday card. The card was handwritten with a note. The star of the show here was the food, which was outstanding. We started off with the lobster tacos, followed by our entrées. My husband ordered the 18 ounce ribeye bone in. I ordered the crab stuffed shrimp. Bread was served. Our side dishes included the absolute best version of a mashed potato I've ever had in my entire life. Do not skip these. We also ordered the crab fried rice, which is phenomenal. Upon visiting again in the future. I would certainly order all of these things again, as well as the truffle mac & cheese, which I was really curious about and almost ordered. We also were given a birthday complementary dessert. Eddie V's is one of those quintessential fine seafood or steak houses you'll find in every major city. White table clothes and linen napkins, professional servers. Great Ambience, friendly service. I'd give them Eddie V's a solid 4.5 stars but we didn't have entrees, just the small plates and cocktails. For small plates, we had the lobster tacos and steak tartare. We've had 100s of lobster tacos in Mexico and California. Usually, the choices part of the lobster is not what you find in a lobster taco, which is why it's smothered in a crème sauce with spices. Eddie V's taco was a wonderful surprise, choice lobster meat, a delicate sauce that enhanced the lobster without distracting from the experience. Hands down the best lobster taco I've ever had. The steak tartare was quite good. The bread was amazing! Cocktails were pretty good as well. We will come back to Eddie V's next year for entrees and give you and update then!. read more

I expected such a great meal here from the prices and reviews but this is a one and done for me. I was looking for just small bites as I wasn't super hungry. I ordered the Wagyu Dumplings which were ok but way too salty. I ate them mostly because the other item I ordered was the Maine Lobster Bisque which was not good. I only ate a bit of it but it had no flavor and just one piece of lobster. It was very bland and tasted like it had zero seasoning. I expected so much more at this restaurant and ended up just being bummed and returning to my hotel disappointed. I ended up getting a snack at the hotel gift shop. Eddie V's is a kick back to when Frank Sinatra hung out at swanky places with well dressed patrons. The ambiance is amazing. A+ Grand piano/gorgeous vibe, and service that is outstanding! I came to town for work and this place was right up the street from the William Penn. (also gorgeous) We met the friendly locals (everyone in Pittsburgh was so friendly), listened to some live Jazz music and ate the most amazing food. Our server Elizabeth was fantastic!! I ordered the scallop special and hubs got the lamb chops. Both dishes were cooked to perfection and balanced beautifully. We shared the lobster mashed potatoes....wow were they decadent! If you love seafood and want to treat yourself to a fine dining experience, this is definitely the place for you. For sides, we ordered brussels sprouts, the truffle mac and cheese, and the au gratin cheddar potatoes. My favorite was probably the brussels sprouts -- the other two felt really heavy (as expected from cheese and potatoes and pasta). We also got a crab cake, and it was fantastic! Would highly recommend. The steak and shrimp that I got for my main course were cooked really nicely. Updating my review after a more recent trip where we came with my family for my birthday. Our server, Sean, was fantastic and I cannot recommend him enough. Our food was phenomenal. We got the shellfish tower, bisque, caesar salads, steaks, seafood, pretty much everything and we were so pleased with it all. The cocktails were also very tasty. My ribeye was truly one of the best I have ever had, and my husband loved his sole. The first steak that came out for me was a little undercooked (closer to blue/rare rather than medium rare) but the flavor was spot on. They did bring me a new steak which was cooked perfectly and still had great flavor. I appreciated that they made it right, and the flavor was so good I didn't even mind that the temperature was a little off on the first one. I really enjoyed everything I had. In fact, everyone loved their meals. Sean even went above and beyond to help me celebrate my 30th birthday by bringing a dessert sampler for us all to try. This is going to be a little long as I have a few funny tidbits to share, but I wanted to just to show how above and beyond this place goes for their patrons. This is one of our favorite "chain" restaurants especially in Pittsburgh and we try to go for one of our major milestones every year. This year it was for our birthday...keep this in mind as it will come up later haha First of all, reservations seem to be a must or else you risk not getting a spot as they are BUSY -- good sign, right!? When you make a reservation, you can put any occassion and we did that. We got to the table and there was a card signed by the restaurant employees, which was so nice of them! I ordered an espresso martini and it was delish. I don't wanna say im a connoisseur butttttt...kinda am. We ALWAYS get the shrimp cocktail, and I'm serious it's one of the best in the city. This restaurant is actually what started my SC journey in life, as their cocktail sauce is insanely good. We debated getting 2 orders but decided to calm down haha We also got the Maine Lobster Bisque and Caesar Salad. Both were flavorful and well done! For those not familiar, basically you order a meat for dinner and then you can get sides a la carte to share with your table (or not, you do you!) We ordered the korean BBQ Brussels and the Lobster Mashed potatoes as sides. The sides were fantastic; the lobster mash is a fan favorite of ours so we always get it. FYI, you can ask for a small side instead of the regular sized one, they are still plenty for 2 people and it's cheaper but it doesn't give you that option on the menu so just ask! I ordered the Misoyaki Butterfish that was on special that night, I was sold at Miso. My husband ordered a NY Strip. The fish was melt in your mouth, flavorful, beautifully cooked. They ended up bringing my husband the wrong steak, but QUICKLY repaired the "damage." They let him munch on this steak while they were preparing the new one, which they ended up just wrapping it up for us to take home. Steak and eggs for breakfast, anyone? Because of this mistake, the manager also comped the steak from our bill, which was ABOVE AND BEYOND nice and unexpected. It was totally not necessary as we're pretty chill, but it really did leave a customer experience impression. Not only that, but they sent over 2 glasses of champagne for us to say sorry. Again, so nice!! My second martini was accidentally spilled on the table, again we are easy so didn't hold this against anyone...I just needed to share to set the entire tone of the evening here haha Once we got all of our foods and demolished it all, except for some goodies to take home of course...the waiter brought over ANOTHER round of champagne (AH!) and a suprise dessert. We were obviously full so wasnt going to order anything else, but they brought out a bananas foster that said "Happy Anniversary!" HAHA I wasn't about to correct a free dessert. I have to say this is something I NEVER would have ordered on my own, but it ended up being DELISH and I recommed to anyone to try at least once. Our waiter was amazing, so attentive and with the manager corrected any issues we had before we even knew there was an issue! We will continue coming here for future milestones. read more

Absolutely amazing service and a happy hour priced to please! I went here for the first time to celebrate a friend's birthday. We arrived around 4:00pm on a weekday before it got busy -- recommend. We were treated with confetti on our tablecloth, and she received a birthday card from the bartender. There was a wide variety of handspun cocktails and martinis, and appetizers on the HH menu which pleased everyone. Be warned that if you get the steak tartare, this is something RAW! When I have another occasion to celebrate, I'll definitely be excited to return. read more
