The crab cake and crab cocktail were both fantastic with huge lumps of sweet crab. Unfortunately all of our steaks were overcooked but they did recook the worst steak however it took forever and so my uncle was left sitting around with cold sides while we waited forever for his steak and they didn't even comp the steak. The waitress we had was not my favorite, she wasn't very speedy and when things went wrong she was nowhere to be found. I have never had them, but what is a way to take that dish and make it even more pretentious? Easy. Substitute with lobster and make it escargot style. Give me a monocle and a top hat and I will hold my pinky up as I take a bite because this was damn good. The only caveat was they don't give you a spoon. Instead they give you a tiny fork to feel like a giant as you struggle to scoop it onto your plate. Salad - Soft and fresh. Do I need to say more? Entrée - Do you hate having money? Have you always wished you would receive a birth certificate for your steak proving that it is in fact real and not just another "made in China" knockoff? If you answered yes to either question then I have a bridge to sell you. All jokes aside, ordering the Japanese 100% A5 Strip Steak was an experience. The manager personally came to the table beforehand to present a display version of the steak, discuss its exceptional quality, and provide a certificate of authenticity you can take home, frame, and hang in your office, so everyone knows you truly hate money. The steak was phenomenal. I left Paul's birth certificate behind however because I was mesmerized by a siren the whole evening. We also had seared salmon. It was alright. It took on the role of the sidekick that night. Dessert - Like a moth to a flame we watched intently as our waiter lit the dish on fire but alas the Flaming Butter Cake was alright. Food was pretty good! The scalloped potatoes were delicate and flavorful. The ribeye was well marbled, and served with onion straws. The filet mignon was lean and full of flavor. We got the add with the mushrooms and garlic, which is a must. The beef carpaccio was good but it wasn't very flavorful. It is also worth noting that it comes with a horseradish sauce. I am not fond of horseradish sauce. The dressing on the greens in the center also tasted like horseradish. Service was impressive. Everyone came over and was attentive. The food came out quick. There wasn't much of a wait. I am disappointed because the cocktails that i ordered were out of stock. And they have no champagne by the glass, just sparking wine. I went with the filet with lobster / asparagus. I definitely enjoy the ribeye more, but decided to change it up this time. All the sides were great, I enjoyed the creamed spinach and potatoes au gratin the most. However, reason for the 4 stars was due to the oysters. Absolutely insane that these were even served...let alone $4 a pop. The saddest most shriveled up dry looking oysters I've ever seen. Meat was still stuck to the shells. Gross. Overall, fun spot. Missed opportunities everywhere for my dinner at Hyde Park Prime. Hospitality was excellent, and the dining room had a great feel! But my soup was cold, my friend's steak was cold, and my steak was WAY over cooked. Courses were dropped before others were cleared, etc. Millionaires Potatoes were very tasty, and I loved my wedge salad. We arrived and used their valet service ($6 fee), which is super convenient if you hate finding parking downtown like I do. I made reservations for 6:30 on a Saturday, and arrived early, at 6pm. We were seated at around 6:15. It seemed to be a very busy night for them. We were served by 2 waitresses and I don't believe 'service' is where this place shines; especially being a fine dining restaurant. There were long delays in between drinks, ordering, receiving food, and timing of food (btw - you have to ask for bread service - specifically says so on the menu). Specifically, we finished our appetizers before they bothered to take our order. Also, my wife would have never received her soup if she didn't remind the waitress, which ultimately led to our entrees being delivered while she was still eating her soup. And one other thing I found particularly odd was that within the 2 hours we were dining, 3 trays were dropped crashing plates and glasses to the floor. In my 40+ years, I've never witnessed that at any restaurant where I've dined. The food itself was amazing! All of the flavors were delicious, and I commend their cook staff for preparing my steak perfectly. The millionaire potatoes are a must-have! You will easily spend $200-300, before tip, dining here. Overall, the food is awesome but there is plenty of room for polishing-up the experience of dining here. UPDATE - the same day I posted this review I was contacted by one of the managers who profusely apologized for our experience. She asked that I share some additional details and invited me and my wife to return. They sent me a gift card and a personal phone number to call to make a new reservation. I've never had a restaurant extend this level of effort to rectify a poor service experience (some restaurant owners, as you can see for yourself, actually argue with their patrons on yelp). Came in for the second time for Happy Hour at the bar with Dani as our server. The service was great, Dani was very attentive and personable. I decided to have a nice meal for my visit to Pittsburgh. I was not disappointed. I chose the early dinner option of surf and turf. The petit filet was seasoned and so tender it melted in my mouth at first taste. The onion rings were so good on the side I could have eaten more they were crunchy and seasoned well. Hyde Park was absolutely delicious. It was Pittsburgh Restaurant Week, but I ended up going with the main menu. I was seated pretty quickly at a high top near the bar. The ambiance was very lively and great for a night out with friends or a date night. They had a good selection of Non Alcoholic Cocktails. I ordered the Hibiscus Margarita. Celebrating our anniversary at Hyde Park Prime Steakhouse. We came in to rose petals on the table and a signed card from the staff. We started our night with the bacon appetizer. Thick (around 1/2inch) bacon with a sweet maple flavored glaze. The fatty parts melted in your mouth and elevated the whole flavor. Next I ordered a cup of the lobster bisque. The soup was creamy and rich. They added in lobster claw meat when they brought out the soup. I wished there was a bit more, but ultimately this was one of the best lobster bisque soups I've had. For my main I ordered the Steak Rooney. 6oz filet over bordelaise crowned with asparagus, lobster, bearnaise, and wild mushrooms. I ordered the steak rare and my only regret is that I did not get it charred. The additional flavor that it added to my boyfriend's steak. Don't make the mistake that I did! Because it was our anniversary, they offered us dessert. We assured our waiter that we were full and appreciated the gesture but were going to pass. He would not take no for an answer and wrapped us up some treats to go. It was a very busy night and the place was bustling but our waiter was on top of our table the whole time. Unfortunately, my most recent visit to Hyde Park wasn't the best. Two of my friends and I made a reservation on a Thursday evening. We ordered off of the restaurant week menu so ordering was quick and easy. Throughout the night, runners would bring food and drink over to our table that wasn't ours. When our food arrived, the orders were wrong. My friend and I both ordered filet Oscar. I ordered the 6 oz medium rare and she ordered an 8 oz medium. Both of the steaks were the same size. In addition, when I cut into mine (a tough cut btw), there was little pink. The steak was almost well done. My friends steak was also almost well done. We told our waitresses about it and they offered to get my friend a larger steak but she just wanted the up charge taken off of the total bill. When our bill came out, it was almost $70 higher than it should have been. We asked the waitress about it who said we needed to speak to a manager. The manager came out, agreed that we were overcharged and updated the bill. It's not the normal service I'm used to at Hyde Park. read more

I chose Hyde Park, after reading reviews, to take my wife for her birthday dinner. Upon arrival the valet service was very quick, and attentive. Never being there , i realized what all the hype was about, how beautiful the ambiance and the fireplace were over the top. We were greeted by Jackie and Gabby, our waitresses. We started with cocktails. My wife ordered espresso, white chocolate martini and I ordered Absolute martini up, both were delicious. Enter.....Brady, the manager, who welcomed us as first timers to the restaurant. He presented us with two appetizers made from sweetcorn and lime mousse. It was delectable. We the split a Caesar salad, with fresh croutons and a dressing with a distinctive, Caesar flavor. The waitresses visited us several times, but never made us feel rushed. My wife ordered the 12 oz lobster tail with drawn butter, and I ordered the Hines Ward filet, medium rare and perfectly done. During the meal, Brady stopped by to check on us, and we had a very nice conversation. My wife enjoyed a Sauvignon Blanc with her dinner, and I, another martini. After dinner, with coffee, we were pleasantly surprised with a complimentary birthday s'more desert, crème de la crème.I hope my pictures translate what a beautiful time we had. We were celebrating my husbands birthday and ended up here. We had a late reservation so didn't eat until 8:30pm. There were very few people in the location. While the dress code does state business casual, we were able to dine in jeans and a nice shirt. We started with the bacon appetizer. It was so delicious! Melted in our mouth and the glaze was really nice. Their steaks are all named after sports stars. My husband got the Malkin (wet aged ribeye) and I got the Crosby (new york strip steak). I ordered The Hines Ward (medium) with Brussels sprouts (no bacon) and the lobster mac & cheese. The steak was perfectly cooked and packed with flavor -- definitely one of the better steaks I've had in a while. The Brussels sprouts were tasty, and the lobster mac was rich and super cheesy in the best way. The service was excellent. We actually had two waitresses rotating between our table, and both were friendly, attentive, and kept things running smoothly. They even surprised us with a s'mores dessert at the end, which was a really nice touch. Everything came out at the perfect pace -- not too slow, not rushed. After executing the perfect proposal for my brother and his new fiancée, we headed to Hyde Park where we had a reservation for 6. We were running a little early, so we had called ahead and asked if we were able to move up a reservation. Luckily, they were able to accommodate us about a half an hour early. When we arrived, we had our cars valeted for $6 each, which was most definitely worth it. When we had arrived, I let them know that we were celebrating an engagement and our table was decorated with a candle and rose petals, which was a nice touch. Our server didn't seem to be thrilled to be serving us, which was kind of a bummer considering what we were celebrating. However, she helped me navigate through the gluten free menu and explained all of the specials. I ordered a spicy strawberry margarita to start which was very tasty. Other members in our group enjoyed beer, the house cabernet, and mocktails. Two of us ordered the petite filet mignon, which was delicious. My partner ordered the market fish special which he enjoyed. Another member of our parter enjoyed the burger and the two remaining members ordered the American waygu filet. For sides, we ordered the whipped mashed potatoes and creamed corn. We received a complimentary chocolate torte and cheesecake which was incredibly generous (they were delicious). And of course, we needed to order a carrot cake slice to go for the happy couple. My husband enjoyed his iced tea, and I liked my riesling. Here are our ratings for our foods: Assorted bread - 5 stars - A basket contained three types of breads, and they tasted delicious. Wagyu beef carpaccio - 5 stars - My husband ordered this appetizer, and he said that it was so delectable that he could eat even more of it! Ahi tuna - 4.5 stars - This appetizer contained fresh ahi tuna, avocado, wasabi soy lime dressing, and wonton chips, and we really liked the flavors. Crab cake - 4 stars - This crab cake was a large size, and it contained much meat. Big Ben filet mignons - 5 stars - I ordered an 8-ounce filet mignon, and my husband ordered a 12-ounce filet mignon with bearnaise sauce and garlic mushrooms. On the side were crispy onions. Both steaks were supposed to be medium. My steak was pink and juicy, but my husband's steak was more medium-well and dry. The manager very kindly offered a solution. Millionaires potatoes - 4.5 stars - These potatoes were baked and contained white cheddar cheese and black truffle. My husband scooped out the soft interior, and I ate both the interior and the crunchy skin. Flaming butter cake - 5 stars - This butter cake was topped with bananas foster and vanilla ice cream, and our waitress flamed it on the table. The serving size was enough for two people, and we greatly enjoyed the sweet flavors. As my husband and I departed the restaurant, he commented, "I did like that place...It was very nice...Pretty tasty!" 5 Stars - A Place That Truly Cares About Its Guests! Our experience at Hyde Park North Shore had its ups and downs, but thanks to the amazing manager, Ken, it turned into one of our favorite spots! We first visited on Valentine's Day. My boyfriend made a reservation here because his family often goes to the Valencia location and always has a great experience. Unfortunately, that night didn't go as expected. Service was honestly terrible--we waited way too long for our food, and the two servers didn't seem to collaborate at all. No one even asked my boyfriend if he wanted another drink. For such an upscale place, with my Japanese Wagyu costing almost $200, it was really disappointed cos of service. But here's where it changed. As we were leaving, Ken, the main manager, approached us and asked how everything went. I was honest and told him the experience wasn't great and I didn't think we'd come back. Ken took it seriously--he gave me his number and even called me later to talk for almost 30 minutes about what went wrong and how they could improve. That level of care is rare! He apologized sincerely, offered us a discount, and promised the next visit would be perfect. And it was! We went back the next day, and everything was flawless. Our servers, Ryan and Sean, were incredible--they made our night! The food was once again amazing (seriously, the Japanese Wagyu is to die for), and the service was exactly what you'd expect from a high-end steakhouse. Since then, we've been back twice more. Now that we're staying in downtown, this North Shore location has become our go-to. Ken has done an adorable, perfect job making sure guests are taken care of. I've traveled to over 25 countries and dined at plenty of Michelin-starred restaurants, so I know great service when I see it--and Ken delivers. We had a private event yesterday beginning at 5:45pm at Hyde Park. Our servers were super nice and did a great job. The ambiance of the private room was pretty cool - there were paintings in frames on the ceiling. I will say, even there there were only five tables of five, the chairs were set up in a half moon around each table for a presentation so the set up made it a bit tricky to navigate without bumping into someone. The food was pretty good! I enjoyed my huge ribeye and the mashed potatoes must have been made with ridiculous amount of butter because they were incredible. Amazing service, top notch from the time we entered until we walked out of the door and a great atmosphere. We started with drinks-Cherry Old Fashioned's. Then we had the Crispy calamari (I'd prefer it a little less saucy) and Waygu beef carpaccio which were both delicious. Service in ambience is second to none, however, our birthday party was spoiled by everyone getting burnt steaks, we always got quality meals here at Hyde Park but this time they get a two stars for burnt steaks. No one complained to the manager, but we should have everything else was excellent drinks appetizers, and desserts and we did leave a C note for a tip. read more

Great spot for happy hour! The women bar staff were terrific, the food tasty and inexpensive, upscale setting/service/ambiance. Nice place to end our Pittsburgh visit after doing the Frank Lloyd Wright homes (somewhat) nearby, and the local Warhol Museum. read more

Hyde Park is becoming one of my favorite steak houses in the country. This is the 3rd different location I've eaten at and they are incredibly good and wonderfully consistent. This particular location was especially good. We had a group of 5 and everyone was really happy with our meal. I had the Salmon Oscar which was fantastic and my good friend had the Tomahawk ribeye which was both enormous and outstanding. Just for grins, it had the biggest bone I've ever seen on a tomahawk steak. The wine options are very good as well as the fully stocked bar. I will definitely be back when in Pittsburgh. read more

This is a new go-to steakhouse. The service first off was top notch - very attentive, helpful and funny staff. Honestly about what is and isn't great on the menu. I'll just write about what I got first - the onion soup with cheese on top was peak- autumn comfort food. Savory warm broth under melted cheese with soaked bread. Just wonderful. The fish or catch of the day was the halibut, with the sauce over it, was super filling. Crème brulee dessert also hit the spot. Laid back atmosphere, chill music, and drinks brought out in smoky cases also made the experience. Can't say enough good things about this place! read more
