The food was exactly what it should've been, and the drinks were quite good. The standouts were that cranberry sauce and the candied sweet potatoes we got extra to take home. We had a smoky cocktail served our table. That was impressive and I had a new fashion that was also very acceptable. We were seated by a manager, who is very welcoming, but our original server was switched because I guess he was over over his capacity and I would say that from time to time I felt a little shuffled between staff, but overall it was a very nice visit and we certainly would go again. I love the ambience of the restaurant, it has a luxury both cozy and classic feel. Made me want to stay at the booth and enjoy a wonderful dinner. Blaine was our server, he had great energy and was very engaged with us. His service was so good that we felt we had dinner at a friend's house. For the dinner, I ordered the Ruth Chris' classics which came with a soup/salad. I had the seafood gumbo. For the entree, I had the filet with lobster tail with cream of spinach. My boyfriend ordered the 8 oz center filet, which was the seasonal special. He had the butternut squash which was amazing. The food came very well prepared and good temperature, served sizzling hot. My filet was perfectly done with the right seasoning. For dessert, we had the chocolate sin cake which was really sinful I love the dinner experience from the service, ambience, and the food. During our stay at the Wailea Beach Resort - Marriott, we had the pleasure of dining at Ruth's Chris Steak House, just a short 5-minute walk from the hotel. It was the perfect spot for a special celebration, as we were marking our baby moon and my dad's 40th work anniversary. We took advantage of their early dining prix fixe menu (4-6 pm), which is an incredible deal considering the quality and portion sizes. For $80 you get a 6 oz filet paired with lobster, or for $70 the 6 oz filet with shrimp. Each meal includes: A fresh house salad (all dressings are homemade - delicious!) Choice of side: rice (fun fact - Maui is the only Ruth's Chris to offer this option), mashed potatoes, or creamed spinach Dessert: your pick of ice cream, sorbet, or bread pudding Among our group, three of us had the filet with lobster and one chose the filet with shrimp, so we were able to sample it all. Everything was perfectly cooked, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Our server, Matt V, was phenomenal. He was personable, attentive, and really elevated the experience. He read the room perfectly, treated us with warmth, and went the extra mile knowing we were celebrating special occasions. Had the Gumbo to begin with, it was just okay but not up to NOLA name B's or most other good gumbos, tasted bland and lacked flavor with mostly vegetables. Need some pop! Another wonderful experience at this Ruth's Chris location. We were here last year and had the opportunity to return this year. We did a walk in and were seated promptly. We were served by Matt. Matt is beyond amazing at what he does. He is always walking around and checking in with every table he's serving. He also served us last year and I recall it being a great visit. Walk-ins are usually seated at standard tables with chairs, as booths are reserved for guests who book in advance. Also, while the steaks are the star of the menu, they do not come with sides unless you order a combo meal. Otherwise, you'll need to select your sides separately, which is well worth it considering the quality of the dishes. Early Bird Special: We arrived early and inquired about their Early Bird Special, which offers a discounted price on select menu items between 4:30 PM and 6:00 PM. It was a great deal, so we decided to take advantage of it. Our Meal: For our entrées, I ordered the Chilean Sea Bass with garlic mashed potatoes, while my wife chose the steak and shrimp combo, which also came with garlic mashed potatoes and a dessert. I go to steak houses for the sides. I'm a sides gal through and through. At Ruth's Chris, though, I'm always here for a ribeye with blue cheese crust! I've been to a few other Ruth's Chris steakhouses, but the Maui location was a first for me. The service was great; Mike was an attentive waiter, so no complaints there. The house manager checked on us once. Mike's server assistant was also attentive. We ordered the chopped salad to split, we split a rib eye with blue cheese crust, and we ordered potatoes au gratin and mac and cheese. The steak was excellent! Just as I remembered. Unfortunately, the Maui location does not have the shoestring French fries (they have steamed white rice), so we were unable to order those. The au gratin and mac and cheese were okay. That was a bit disappointing. The potatoes were cubbed and not scalloped, but it was the over all flavor that was lacking. Same for the mac and cheese. This is the reason for the three stars. Had the sides been a tad better, I would have given a solid four stars. The dining room room is a smaller setting, but it had great lighting. It's Maui, so don't worry about dressing up. I've been to other locations that denied folks entry for "street clothes" like shorts, t-shirts, and baseball caps. Not the case here. Great experience overall. read more

Although we didn't have a reservation, we were fortunate to find a spot right away and were seated promptly. I ordered the steak with shrimp, which came with a salad and dessert. It's such a great deal if the timing works out for you. Today the blackberry gimlet stood out for drinks. For apps, the stuffed mushrooms had me literally moaning at the table. We have eaten at several Ruth's Chris steak houses across the country, and this one in Wailea is our absolute favorite over these past 20 years. Their quality and consistency of their steaks and side dishes along with excellent service has always been top notch. We celebrated one of our "anniversaries" the other night, and it was even "Mo Bettah" than before! We have our favorite servers of Mary Lynn, Matt and Brian (Steve has retired, and we miss him). All are so kind and attentive. The cocktails are generous, the wine selections by the glass are superb. We enjoy the Obsidian Cabernet each time. The Cesar salad is one of the best with light dressing, crispy croutons and generous shavings of cheese. We were told they had a new broiler and our Filets were cooked to perfection. The thing I love about Ruth's Chris is that it's consistent. The food and service are always top notch. This is my family's go to place for special occasions. It's somewhat pricey but for the quality, it's totally worth it. The last time we stopped in, there was a huge party in on a random Tuesday night, but it was a special birthday for us. We were seated and may have been forgotten about given how busy it was. However, Dave noticed us as he was walking by (I don't think it was his section) and made sure we were taken care of for the rest of the night. The only area for improvement would be the interior decor. With the fancy new place downstairs, it may be time for a facelift of their own. read more

Shockingly Disrespectful - Worst Birthday Experience Ever If I could give zero stars, I would. I came to Ruth's Chris Steak House in Hawaii to celebrate my birthday with my family, and what happened was absolutely insulting. After taking our order, I directly asked our server if they had any birthday special. He flat-out told me "No," then immediately said "Happy Birthday to you"--which already felt strange. But moments later, I watched multiple tables receive the restaurant's fire strawberry birthday dessert, complete with the staff singing Happy Birthday. So clearly, the birthday special DOES exist. I asked another server about it, and he instantly confirmed it was their birthday and anniversary special. No hesitation. When I confronted our original server, instead of owning up to his lie, he tried to twist the story and pretend he had no idea it was my birthday. He literally said Happy Birthday to me earlier. This wasn't "a misunderstanding." This wasn't "a mistake." This was blatant unequal treatment, and the difference in how we were treated compared to everyone around us was impossible to ignore. The whole thing felt humiliating, disrespectful, and yes -- like racial discrimination. You don't "accidentally forget" a birthday special right after saying Happy Birthday to someone. You don't "forget" when every table around us gets the exact thing I asked about. For a restaurant with supposedly "premium service," this was a complete disgrace. It ruined my birthday. It ruined our night. And we will NEVER return. Management needs to take a serious look at what's happening here, because this level of disrespect should not be happening to ANY guest. read more

Just enjoyed a lovely happy hour "meal" (apps and cocktails) at Ruth's Chris. We shared 4 appetizers and had to pack one up to go we were so full! The appetizers were huge and delicious, drinks delightful, but Brian, the bartender/server really made this a standout experience. The woman who was tag teaming the bar area with him was terrific too. Highly recommend this if you're in Wailea! Really professional, friendly, & just all around great service, excellent food, and the happy hour prices are a steal. Updating my review from December 8th: yesterday (12/9) I received a personal phone call from Dave in Customer Relations at Darden Restaurants' corporate HQ in Orlando, Florida. While I will not share all of the details of that call, I will compliment Dave & Darden for recognizing the importance of the issues that I raised and in addition to apologizing for the cleanliness issue providing a very generous digital gift card which my wife and I were able to use for last night's visit. And I am happy to report that the light fixtures are all spotless and the service, from arrival to departure, was top notch and the food was spectacular. read more

Everything was delicious. Entrees and sides were cooked well and tasted yummy. We ordered dessert and got one with strawberries. The strawberries had some sort of cleaning chemical on them that tasted foul. We kept one to try and get it chemically tested but there was not much luck on the island. It smelled like bleach or like a counter cleaning or floor cleaning product. I felt sick afterward. The staff was nice but we did bring this to their attention and it took them about 20 minutes to give us an apology and the manager did not even come out. I feel like it is a pretty standard expectation to assume that when your food is chemically contaminated someone should check on you. I would go back, but they definitely need to check their cleaning and food storage practices. I guess I am lucky I only ate one, but had I eaten more I may have needed to go to the hospital. I reported it to the health department so maybe others in the future will not have the same issue. The service was ok, and the food was fantastic. read more

Had a wonderful fun time at Ruth Chris Wailea, HI. From the host station to the server and water staff, all friendly and wished me my Happy Birthday. Blaine our server great as usual (this was our 3rd time with him). He worked with us to get the protein and side combos we wanted perfectly. He intgroduced us to the crab cakes and WOW. wonderful! Also, he noted they have a loaded mashed potato- it is their garlic mashed potatoes and all the fixings from their baked potatoes. Another wonderful side!! The petite filet was great as was their Caesar. And - Forest the manager stopped by to insujre all was great, and he introduced us to the new assistant manager (apologies I forgot her name). They charged $30 for a small side of onions for my son's steak. I told the waiter I am gluten free yet he served my shrimp with bread on it. This restaurant is located upstairs at the Shops at Wailea. There is plenty of safe parking available. This is a nice place to celebrate special occasions. It's on the expensive side but the food and atmosphere are upscale. It's a cozy restaurant with lots of smaller dining areas. It doesn't look like it but the restaurant is quite large Everything is ala carte so the cost can quickly add up. They do have an early dinner special that includes an entree, 2 sides, and dessert for a fixed price. It's a good deal and we'll plan to order that next time. The steaks are REALLY GOOD! They arrive sizzling on a platter and are so tender and yummy. For sides my favorites were the au gratin potatoes and sweet potato casserole. My husband and I always say that we're not going to come here because we have so many RC chains close to our home in San Diego. However, after trying a few different places and not getting the steak that we really want we always end up here. Tonight was exceptionally well done! We had the seafood tower which was excellent and very greasy lobster jumbo crab meat jumbo shrimps and Alaskan crab legs. We ordered the gumbo as an appetizer which was not as tasty as prior dining. It was just off. We ordered the pre fixe menu filet with lobsters choice of salad or soup and dessert. I have recently noticed since Darden group bought Ruth Chris the filet is smaller at 6 ounce and they never been able to get the right way of cooking the steaks. I always ordered medium rare and it came out medium. I'm thinking that the chef is having trouble cooking medium rare or rare! It's truly disappointing since we used to live Ruth Chris and has been a loyal customer since 1977. My first Ruth Chris was at downtown New Orleans Bourbon!
