We came as a big party, highly recommend reservations because this place get busy. We came on a Tuesday dinner time and could not get seated any earlier because all tables were full. Parking is very easy as it is located in a plaza and the service is very attentive. My water cup was never empty. House salad: sweet tangy and a good amount of creamy cheese Cesar salad: very good and even came with anchovies. I didn't get to try the anchovies but those that tried it said it was quite tasty Meatballs: their signature dish. It was pretty good, but wish there was a bit of a tang to it Bolognese: loved how they cooked the pasta and the meat sauce was tasty, the ground beef they used was quite lean so wasn't super oily Apparata with spicy sausage: good flavor, would order again. I loved the spicy sausage as well. It had a bit of a kick Parmesan chicken: chicken wasn't dry and the pasta was cooked perfectly Short rib: I don't love short rib but my friends said it was savory and not too salty. I personally really likes the sides that came with it Ciao Bella cocktail: I like that it was a strong drink however it felt that the flavors were clashing, maybe with my food that evening

Came here with a big party for a special event. Service was great and welcoming, wwith a start of complimentary bread and olive oil to our tables. Arrabiata- penne pasta with spicy pomodoro sauce , with added Italian sausage - my fav dish here after trying multiple dishes. It had a perfect kick, and not spicy for me. Bolognese - plenty of minced beef but not enough tomato sauce Chicken Parmesan- decent juicy chicken, but i believe it was served with tagliatelle pasta which i didnt care for. All the salads were refreshing and yummy (cesar, osteria, pesche) Connoli was also delicious for our last bite of the meal. It had a good fresh crisp, not soggy compared to other places.

8 of us had a reservation at 4:45 when they first opened and they were very welcoming. The bread and olive oil was yummy that came to the table. The Caesar salad was very good. The meatballs were mixed reviews. Husband had the arrabiattia and it was too spicy to enjoy the penne. However the espresso martini he loved! My sister in law mom and I had the ravioli. My sister in law thought it was pretty standard however I thought it was really delicious with the pumpkin seeds. My dad had the bolognese and loved it. For dessert we had cannoli and tiramisu and flourless chocolate cake. The tiramisu was creamy and yummy. The cannoli was delicious.

While this place was featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives, it is anything but. A beautiful romantic setting with an open kitchen to watch all the magic happen. DaVita was our server, she was friendly, informative, and made excellent recommendations. Highly recommend this place! Everything was delicious and we were overjoyed with our experience!

Delicious homemade tagliatelle bolognese pasta and kids penne. The bolognese was rich and flavorful with generous portions of freshly made pasta. My kiddo liked her penne pasta but hated the turkey meatball. The turkey meatballs had an odd taste and texture, so we swapped for chicken instead. Would have preferred traditional beef / pork meatballs instead of the healthy tasting version. Excellent service and enjoyed dining out on the patio.

Matteo's Osteria is a cute, cozy restaurant that delivers a surprisingly high quality Italian dining experience in the heart of Maui. I wasn't sure what to expect from Italian cuisine on the island, but the food here was great. I ordered the carbonara with pancetta, prepared with fresh pasta and just the right amount of zing. My boyfriend opted for the lasagna, which is made without ricotta, his least favorite cheese, and he said it was next level. The warm atmosphere and attentive service rounded out a thoroughly enjoyable meal.

Kiana was fabulous! Really really great service... Kiana was attentive, friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and wine list. Appetizers we had the bruschetta with tuna which was delicious and they brought us some yummy tomato bisque in little espresso cups which was great. The breads were delicious as well. Maine course I had the special Arabiatta which was yumm... our wine was delicious! Then came dessert... strike 1, no affogato! What? Coffee machine was broken... understandable, not a big deal.. so I had the Tiramisu... super disappointing... would not recommend it... Overall, a delicious meal and we would go back... but I'd recommend they fire their pastry chef or whoever made that very lame tiramisu!

IM OBSESSED WITH THIS PLACE It's the perfect Italian place for Maui. Where do I start with this review?! Fresh, home made pasta. Genuinely kind and caring employees. Slightly more upscale so you can dress up but it's not pretentious so it's also a cute family/kid friendly vibe if desired. We had espresso martinis, wine, and lemon drop shots (it was my birthday lol). All of the food was wonderful! Can't wait to come back and try more!!

I would definitely eat here again. Decent wine list. Good assortment of pastas and mains and salads. Options for GF people. Saltimbucca was great. Polenta was a little caky, yet flavor was good. Chicken parm was great, nicely breaded with mozzarella and sauce, although probably could have been a little thinner (it was quite thick) The bruschetta with Tonno (tuna and capers over vjppped tomatoes and garlic on top of bread, was unique and flavorful.

6.22.26 UPDATE We…read moreoriginally had a disappointing experience due to slow service, limited attention from staff, and the lack of air conditioning during our visit. However, the owner took the time to respond and explain that the entire shopping center wing was experiencing cooling issues and that the restaurant was dealing with significant staffing shortages at the time. While that doesn't completely change the experience we had, I appreciate that the owner acknowledged the challenges and responded professionally rather than dismissing the feedback. One observation I would offer is that, as a customer, it was difficult to tell who was serving tables. I noticed several employees in Pint & Cork shirts moving around the restaurant, but only saw a couple of servers actively covering the dining area. It's possible some staff were assigned to bartending or other responsibilities, but from the guest perspective it gave the impression that table service was understaffed while other employees appeared unavailable. I still think there is room for improvement in the flow and logistics on the floor, but I appreciate the owner's willingness to engage with feedback and explain the circumstances. That being said, I would be willing to give the restaurant another chance. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- UPDATED REVIEW AFTER OWNER'S RESPONSE: 6.21.26 I appreciate the response. It's telling that you addressed the air conditioning, disputed the gender of an employee, and questioned whether I was even there, yet didn't meaningfully respond to the concerns about service, timing, attentiveness, or food quality. If a customer leaves with a poor experience, the question isn't whether they perfectly recalled every detail. The question is why they left with that impression in the first place. I suspect future readers can draw their own conclusions from both the review and the response. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Probably the most disappointing dining experience of our Hawaii trip. We specifically asked to sit indoors because we wanted a break from the Maui heat after spending the day outside. Unfortunately, we quickly realized there was no air conditioning, making the indoor seating barely any cooler than outside. The restaurant also felt severely understaffed. It took around 10 minutes just to get a Diet Coke, and every time I asked for assistance, the woman working at the register seemed to defer the request rather than help or find someone who could. Meanwhile, some employees appeared more interested in chatting than helping customers, while only one or two staff members seemed to be working the floor. I understand restaurants get busy, especially in a tourist area, but the issue wasn't just the wait--it was the feeling that customer service wasn't a priority. As for the food, it was nothing special. I ordered a steak that had a nice smoky flavor, but it arrived well done and overcooked. The rest of the meal was average at best and definitely not memorable enough to make up for the service issues. Between the lack of air conditioning, slow service, inattentive staff, and mediocre food, this was one of the few places in Hawaii where I genuinely regretted spending my money. Considering the location at The Shops at Wailea and the prices being charged, I expected a much higher level of hospitality and execution. There are far too many great dining options in Wailea to come back here.

We had colorful drinks which were highly recommended that I do not remember and I did not capture pics. We ate several items off the menu, did not capture all of them, the stand outs for me were the tacos and the salmon. We were surprised with a lovely glass of champagne by our lovely server. The server was phenomenal and attentive... never ever have I seen my water glass being refilled as much as I did here and I am a water drinker and loved it!!! Now what you get is $11 spam musubi, a pretzel that has both fish roe and sugary syrup on it (gross!) for $21, pseudo-Niçoise salad for $28 (WTF!), and imported shrimp cocktail for $5 a shrimp. Piss off! Even the server said it was a total rip-off. The menu is massively disappointing for those who actually have a frame of reference. Good thing we only came for beer. Tried the Kohola beer in Makawao and was very impressed. The Tall Story Pale Ale is really excellent, gold standard for pale ale, but you don't have to come here to enjoy it. Happy Hour is 2-5 p.m., $2 off Kohola draft and $4 off a glass of wine. Regular price beer is $8.50, fairly standard price. Unlike others, we had a good service experience. I started out with the Tchin Tchin cocktail, amazing delicate flavor, not too sweet. I then had to try their seared Ahi on the rock appetizer where they bring you a piping hot rock and fresh Aji you cook the Aji on the rock yourself and it comes with three different incredible dipping sauces. Then I had the lobster tempura dish for my main meal combined with grilled monchong. This is one of the best dishes I think I've ever had in my life. The fish was so light and buttery and juicy and flaky, and the lobster cooked to perfection, and I was very skeptical because were breading this lobster and tempura and there's such a risk of over cooking and that did not happen here I was super super pleased. I saw the Sunday Brunch deal on my Facebook with a Free Pool Pass for the month of June! We couldn't pass that up. Because we went on the very last Sunday in June, it was real busy with visitors staying at the hotel and locals alike taking advantage of this Summer deal so we expected it. We got maybe 2-3 plates each. My cousin took advantage of the proteins first. He went straight to get the Ko Rosemary Crusted Prime Rib with the Horseradish and Au Jus which was delicious and our top favorite. He wasn't a big fan of the Mochiko Chicken, he said it was a bit dry. I started off with the selection of appetizers like the Ulu & Potato Mac Salad, Lomi Lomi Salmon, Waipoli Baby Greens with Papaya Seed Dressing and Poi! I loved it all. I was pretty naive and put the scrambled eggs and Braised Short Ribs on my plate but didn't realize it was a Loco Moco station lol! That was a fail but the Braised Short Ribs was so tender and is a must if you go. Make sure you make yourself a Loco Moco lol! Other favorites was the Lavender Honey Crispy Shrimp (because there was so many people I got the bottom of the bowl but they refilled it right after), Pork Shumai with Mustard Sauce, and Longanisa (Filipino Sausage with Garlic and Vinegar) with Onions. My coworker told me his stomach got upset from the Ahi a few months ago so I kinda stayed away from the Seared Ahi station (and I love ahi) except for the Vegetable and California Rolls and the Shumai. I took one Kimchee Shrimp just to try but the shrimp didn't taste the best sadly. I was also looking forward to the Pancakes station since I read there's Banana Pancakes and Chantilly Sauce! I do love me some Chantilly but it was mini Regular Pancakes with Strawberry, Lilikoi (Passion Fruit) Butter, and Syrup. I was a bit disappointed but the desserts didn't disappoint and was a hit. Our favorites were the Guava Chiffon Cake which was light and creamy, Hokkaido Cheese Tart, Calamansi Tartelettes and also the Paniolo Banana Rum Cake. I love small desserts-less waste and definitely leaving you satisfied when done right! Overall it was delicious- some hits and a few misses but we both understood it was the last Brunch deal day and had a relaxing Pool day afterwards. We both work in Customer Service/Hospitality and we appreciated the Staff working hard and being so welcoming and friendly, full of aloha.

Table next to us raved about them and although the tortilla and the fish were fresh, the 'blackened' seasoning did me in. Overkill on a nicely cooked piece of fish - hard pass. Lamb, although cooked properly, (and I thought interestingly presented but) hubs is a meat guy and felt all the additions - sauce, relish, goat cheese - was overkill. Have to also say he didn't enjoy the waiter taking his knife to hand prepare a bite the way he thought it should be eaten. We barely saw him after that which further soured the experience. He vanished after the big ticket part of the meal (the 82$ lamb) and mentioned a comped panna cotta for our anniversary after we'd ordered a paid desert. Oops we owe you that next time (but you'll take our money today) Our food runner was great! Super upbeat, always with a smile. Bar area was relatively quiet until it wasn't.
