My recently purchased condo has gotten a new lease on life, and the fireplace is a constant conversation piece for visiting guests. Davan installed our new quartz countertops on 08/27/2025 after shopping around for several months…read more We ended up selecting quartz countertops from MSI. Some helpful hints based on our experience: 1. A big countertop dealer like MSI, located in Elk Grove Village, has a very large showroom where you can see the full countertop slabs. We had some preferences based on the web site pictures and the little quartz samples, but ended up selecting a different slab once we were in the showroom. You really want to see the full countertop slabs before your decision is finalized. 2. We were really disappointed with the Home Depot service, which is The Countertop Factory - Midwest. There was an extremely hard sell visit to our house and a take-it-or-leave it price. 3. Many quartz countertop installation services want you to select quartz they already have in stock. Davan let us shop around and we selected an MSI countetop, which MSI already had in stock. Our job therefore proceeded quickly from final slab selection to installation (less than two weeks). 4. I was unnecessarily nervous about our kitchen tile backsplash when our old formica countertops were replaced with new quartz countertops. We wanted to retain the old kitchen backsplash. That was not a problem and the installation occurred smoothly.

We had been in the market for new countertops for a few weeks and had started to process with a big…read morename stone company in the north shore. But after many unanswered emails and phone calls to them, we became frustrated and decided to look for another company. I did a Yelp search and sent messages to 5 different businesses. Dejan was the first person to respond (7 minutes after I sent the initial message - talk about responsive!!!) I can confidently say that DK Stone's prices are the best in the market after comparing them amongst the other 4 competitors. The best part is that everyone else had told me that I would need to buy at least 2 slabs for the dimensions of our countertop. I asked Dejan how many slabs we would need and he said ONE SLAB for both island countertop and stovetop countertop!! He was able to calculate a configuration that would get everything done with minimal waste - this was huge in terms of cost. He had his guys come out to measure 5 days later and the counter tops were installed a couple of weeks after that. Everything was perfect, they were so efficient. Okay so now you have an idea of their work but what about service? Someone had accidentally taken our garbage disposal ring when they were cleaning up after the job so we couldn't get the disposal installed - we reached out to Dejan and he had someone drop it off. He could have easily ghosted us since the job was done but he was still just as responsive. We seriously cannot recommend DK Stone enough - we are so impressed and after being let down by so many other companies this was the breath of fresh air we needed.

Juan's quote was roughly the same as the others I got (they were all within $150 of each other), but I chose to work with Juan Carlos because he was so much more friendly and professional than the other companies I talked to, and he had much better reviews too. All these 5 star reviews are for a reason!! The work is top notch (I was stunned to find that they had been able to cut my gigantic L-shape section as ONE PIECE--couldn't believe it!), on time, and highly professional and courteous. They protected all my floors so well, draping from the front door all the way through to the kitchen, and kept everything super clean so I didn't have to deal with a mess after they left. I really appreciated that! Also, regarding Covid safety, I felt very safe having Juan Carlos and team in my home. They were all masked up (with masks worn PROPERLY, not hanging off their face like so many people I've had to deal with lately). I just can't recommend Pearlstone Cutters highly enough--please give them your business, you won't regret it!

Looking for granite installer? Well keep on looking…read more Had a horrible experience working with Andrew and Stone Age Innovations. We decided to do some upgrades to a rental unit for long term tenants, one of which was replacing ugly green formica countertops with quartz. We fielded quotes from a few places and was a bit more than what we had hoped to spend. Our counter space is small so a friend suggested purchasing remnants or used countertops that were a bit bigger than we needed and having them cut down to size. We called a few folks to get quotes on cutting and installing pieces we would supply and Andrew gave us a competitive quote and offered to pick up the slabs at no additional cost to us. His guys showed up and hauled them away as promised, along with the sink we purchased in order to cut everything correctly. Awesome! That's when things started to take a turn for the worst. Andrew and I set up numerous times for him to swing by and take measurements for the cuts but it wasn't until the third try that he showed. Keep in mind, I made it clear this was a rental unit with tenants living there and that I would need some lead time to give them notice and that I live almost an hour away. I drove out and received no call to cancel. He just didn't show. After waiting for a while, I called him at which point he stated he wasn't going to be able to make it. Wouldn't have been bothered under normal circumstances but not bothering to call me was extraordinarily rude and unprofessional. We finally met and he took the measurements. He seemed like an okay guy and he already had my slabs so on we went. Install: Take One Guys show up to install the countertop. They take out the old ones and are putting everything in. Something isn't right. The main slab with the sink cutout is off. WAY off. Like not even close! They pack everything up, including the large slab, and are on their way. Install: Take Two Guys show up again to try once more. Long story short, my large slab had to be cut in half due to their mistake. To make matters even worse, IT STILL ISN'T CUT CORRECTLY! The guys hack into my wall to make it fit! Then they decided it was a good idea to fill the massive gaps they had created in my drywall with caulk! Luckily I do most of my work myself and was able to mask their carelessness but I will never forget this experience. Will never do business with Stone Age again.
