Looking for granite installer? Well keep on looking. Had a horrible experience working with Andrew and Stone Age Innovations. We decided to do some upgrades to a rental unit for long term tenants, one of which was replacing ugly green formica countertops with quartz. We fielded quotes from a few places and was a bit more than what we had hoped to spend. Our counter space is small so a friend suggested purchasing remnants or used countertops that were a bit bigger than we needed and having them cut down to size. We called a few folks to get quotes on cutting and installing pieces we would supply and Andrew gave us a competitive quote and offered to pick up the slabs at no additional cost to us. His guys showed up and hauled them away as promised, along with the sink we purchased in order to cut everything correctly. Awesome! That's when things started to take a turn for the worst. Andrew and I set up numerous times for him to swing by and take measurements for the cuts but it wasn't until the third try that he showed. Keep in mind, I made it clear this was a rental unit with tenants living there and that I would need some lead time to give them notice and that I live almost an hour away. I drove out and received no call to cancel. He just didn't show. After waiting for a while, I called him at which point he stated he wasn't going to be able to make it. Wouldn't have been bothered under normal circumstances but not bothering to call me was extraordinarily rude and unprofessional. We finally met and he took the measurements. He seemed like an okay guy and he already had my slabs so on we went. Install: Take One Guys show up to install the countertop. They take out the old ones and are putting everything in. Something isn't right. The main slab with the sink cutout is off. WAY off. Like not even close! They pack everything up, including the large slab, and are on their way. Install: Take Two Guys show up again to try once more. Long story short, my large slab had to be cut in half due to their mistake. To make matters even worse, IT STILL ISN'T CUT CORRECTLY! The guys hack into my wall to make it fit! Then they decided it was a good idea to fill the massive gaps they had created in my drywall with caulk! Luckily I do most of my work myself and was able to mask their carelessness but I will never forget this experience. Will never do business with Stone Age again. read more

What a fantastic organization. Andrew was communicative, polite, punctual and professional. His prices are very reasonable and he got our job done early and his installers were fantastic. I'm in the middle of a kitchen overhaul and wanted to add granite counters to my small kitchen. I got Andrew's contact information from a friend who has been happy with his service. I contacted Andrew about a month ago and went over the process with him. He gave me the names of his suppliers and I went out to pick my granite slab about 2 weeks ago. They were installed yesterday and I'm so happy with my new counters. Andrew made the process easy; my schedule is super busy and he was accommodating with times for the measure and install. From the time I told him that cabinets were installed and ready for final measure to complete install was five days. Wow! And there was a weekend in there. Price was competitive too which was great as I'm operating within a tight budget for my new kitchen. read more

After visiting some of the more well-known granite sources in Chicagoland, my tile installer turned me on to Stone Age Innovations. Andrew and his team operate out of a small space on West Homer. I received personalized service, the selection was super for the small project I had in mind, and the cost was much less than it would have been at the places I visited (e.g. Stone City). These guys were among the most competitive price-wise for quartz countertops. During the estimate process, I got several estimates from Andrew because I kept changing my mind on which stone I wanted to use. Communications were great. I finally decided upon Hanstone Aurora Snow. Andrew came out to do the measurements. He took the sink I was going to use back to his shop to help with the cutout. In less than a week later, two more guys came out to do the install. Installation included attaching the sink, attaching the dishwasher, and cutting a single faucet hole. The end result looks great. Andrew was punctual when he came out to my condo to take measures, and was actually early for the installation. He promised a great product, and everything exceeded my expectations. Full disclosure: We did not follow through with our project, this review is based on interaction with Andrew from Stone Age Innovations during the planning and decision process. We sought a proposal from Stone Age to install a larger granite counted in our kitchen. (We selected them based on their Yelp reviews.) Andrew responded promptly with a written estimate and recommended a granite supplier to find the matching stone. When Andrew came to the house to evaluate the installation, he was completely professional--showed up within 5 minutes of the estimated time, was very courteous, explained the process, and even removed his shoes before entering the house. He explained the options to us and even sketched out what the supports would look like for one of the options. He laid out the pros and cons of each alternative, didn't pressure us at all to make a decision, and was not upset at all that his visit might not generate a sale. Ultimately we decided not to do the project because of the limitations of our kitchen. But--if we ever need to have stone work done, Andrew at Stone Age Innovations will definitely be our first call! read more

We just had a marble surround on our fireplace installed by Andrew and his team at Stone Age Innovations and I highly recommend them! Andrew was wonderful to work with - punctual, polite, and precise. This was not an easy project as he had to work with a finishing carpenter who was installing a wood face on the entire fireplace. All of his measurements had to be precise and I am happy to report that everything came out beautifully! I will contact Andrew and Stone Age with any future stone projects and recommend them to my friends and neighbors. read more

So many positives about this experience. Andrew was thorough and patient in helping us to decide counter edges, quartz options and other details about the countertop size. He met at our home twice - once to scope out the project and then came back after we accepted his proposal to review our decisions and remeasure. We were totally confident in SAI after these meetings and not at all disappointed. Beautiful work, extremely pleased. Also, we appreciated Andrew's flexibility to meet us after 5pm, so we did not need to schedule time off from work. The installation crew was on time, efficient and neat. Another plus is that SAI will drill faucet and soap dispenser holes onsite, so we were able to say exactly where to position these items. We are having SAI fabricate a bathroom countertop with the leftover quartz. read more

I searched a lot of places and considered many options for countertops for my new kitchen. Because of it's location ( I live on the far south side of Chicago) I was hesitant to call Stone Age Innovation but was really glad I did. Andrew was by far the most knowledgeable and helpful of any of the other companies I talked to. He answered all my questions and offered a few suggestions when asked. He was on time when coming for the estimate and installation. And when we ran into a problem during installation, he made me his #1 priority and had it fixed within a few hours even though they had to go back to their shop.
