Pub 199 feels like walking into a natural history museum inside a hunting lodge, surrounded by taxidermy and rustic decor. The service is consistently excellent, the atmosphere is comfortable, and the prices remain very reasonable. It was served on a French baguette with provolone cheese and was absolutely the best steak sandwich I've had in years. It was topped with provolone cheese that was also melted just enough to not be messy, but the melt complimented the flavors of the medium rare steak. The sandwich was accompanied by perfectly cooked crinkle cut fries. We ate at the bar and were taken care of by a very efficient bartender who also brought us our food. She made recommendations to my co-workers who weren't quite sure of what to order and they took her suggestions and were glad they did. McKenna's is a local pub and while this was my first visit, we were told that it is under new management. I do plan to go back soon and try their Shepherd's Pie which I saw another diner order. Our server told us it comes in two sizes, which is probably a lunch sized portion and a larger one for dinner. McKenna's is not a true dive bar; it was clean and warm, and the people were friendly. I hope its new management/ownership are successful because I plan on going back more frequently now that I've discovered it and because I want to work my way through the rest of their menu.
