This place is pretty cool. It's more of a dive bar /pub scene than a lounge/club, super chill so you don't have to get all dolled up to go out. The drinks were perfectly made and not hella expensive which was awesome. The bartenders were also very nice which was cool too. When I went it wasn't too crowded but I've heard from people it can get crackin' Definitely check this place out if you wanna swing by somewhere chill to grab a drink or two. No Doubt the best bar in the Oakland Hayward San Lorenzo and San Leandro Area. Always a great crowd with a lot of locals that are proud of there community. so, came here after I dropped my boy off in my old hood at my folks haus. I grew up in "Shelly's" basically...sign o' the times. Ran into some old Shelly's folk. That was awesome. Ran into a junior highschool friend...also nice. I was really "nostalgic" that night. I needed a good night out. OWNER DUDE WAS TOTALLY RAD. Introduced himself. Drinks were decent. A couple of guys my age were playing pool and we were kooking together harmlessly.....until..................Some totally drunk young tart kept trying to pick a fight with me for no reason. Here's my gripe....it's just a litttle too young of a crowd for me....plus, trying a lil' too hard to be bad asses. The bartenders were "mezza mezza" one minute super friendly the next, kinda rude. I moved to the area last year. I still really don't know anyone in San Leandro, which prevented me from venturing out to the local bars. Well my husband said he had drinks at Schelly's before and so after another long study session G and I went to grab a good old dive bar drink. And it was great. It is a newly remodeled and opened place called Ryan's. Its a good Irish bar, with a juke box, a pool table and kareoke on Fridays. It was clean, bright and the bartenders were friendly, and kicked out people who got sloppy. There were a few big screens bar tables and regular tables - good for groups. My favorite part of the bar was the beautiful fireplace. We were approached by a few neighbors, who were very kind and entertained by the fun-loving and quite good kareoke revelers. It was dive-y in spirit but clean as a whistle, granted they just opened on St. Paddy's. We met the new owner, who one of the people dragged over to come meet the newbies, he was very welcoming. Okay this is NOT an Irish bar...but it is a cool dive bar. Recently renovated so the decor is modern and in pristine condition. No cider available but they do have Guinness on tap. Bar stool, high cafe style table & chair, and couch seating available. The patrons are more or less "blue collar" and respectfully friendly.. Which s what I like about dive bars... People are not too cool to talk to you. The bartender was super attractive AND friendly (which gets uber high marks in my book... I LOATH bartenders with attitude!!). I ordered a Guinness and decided it was WAY to hot outside to drink that heavy of a stout. I decided I would donate my pint to the bar and the bartender offered to replace it with something else. That's pretty awesome customer service IMO. The bar is Located in corner strip mall where all the shop marquees look the same... Which is kinda retarded because it doesn't look like there would be a bar in the complex. On the upside it does have a large parking lot associated with it. Did not see any outside or back patio seating. There are two or three pool tables. A couple of big screen televisions. Don't recall seeing any pinball machines. I'm sure there was music... But I can't recall what genre. I don't usually drink in san Leandro but i was visiting a friend and we were hot & thirsty. The bar seating was mostly occupied at 4:30 on a Thursday. Located on a busy four way stop intersection w/ multiple restaurants, so it may be quite busy at other days/ times. Aside from the lack of cider to drink, it's a very decent dive bar. It's not some place I would drink on a regular basis... But it's great for what it is. read more

Many bars and bartenders leave a lot to be desired, Ryan's and they're best bartender Starla fulfill those desires. Starla's a miracle worker, when I approached the bar as a "newbie" I figure, with past experiences elsewhere, I'd be waiting at least twenty minutes. Starla's that player that player every coach envies; not only did she attend to me in a better than reasonable amount of time, she took a moment to connect with me, share a laugh, and most importantly, make me feel comfortable in an environment that I was not used to. I highly recommend Ryan's, but I give my 5 stars to Starla, who made my experience a night to remember, and who earned my repeat business! Thanks Starla! read more

I like this neighborhood spot. I've been a couple of times now and it's pretty chill. Lots of vocal locals around rooting for the A's and other Bay Area teams - that's always fun. The bartenders have been pretty efficient if not a bit aloof sometimes but no worries. As long as I get served in a timely manner, it really doesn't matter too much. It's actually pretty spacious inside and there's a pool table in the back. Remember it's cash only like many neighborhood bars. read more

Wow - let me tell you, this is an amazing group of people! I love it. I'm sitting here now watching Game 1 of the Warriors and loving my time. I've had an FNB drink or whatever it was. I don't know but its delicious! The owner was even amazing enough to give us some hot wings and pizza! Paying for drinks is okay for me if that's the trade off. Well, honestly, I was not expecting the food but overall this is a really coo spot to be at. I have my laptop, out, surrounded by great people and some good food. Love it! Plus, I came alone, so I feel very comfortable and safe. Multi-cultural crowd. It's like a family bar with some wonderful people. I love it. I have to say that I didn't go to Schelly's much when it was open because it was a little too divey for me. However, I love the new Ryan's Irish Pub. They really took a lot of care into cleaning and renovating the bar and they want to make it into a friendly, neighborhood gathering place which we desperately need n San Leandro. I also love the beautiful fireplace and the cozy seating area where they've put a couch and comfortable chairs. I'm looking forward to meeting friends there often. read more

I grew up in the San Leandro "Manor", so I am used to this being the old Schelly's bar. The original Schelly's owners sold a while back and the place kind of went downhill after that. Suddenly in March, Ryan's pops up! Through the vine, we found out that the new owner actually went to high school with my husband, so we were eager to check it out. So last Friday evening, I met my husband and some of his friends there; and boy what a difference! The inside has been renovated and the first thing you notice is that it is well lit, open, and airy....stark contrast to the old place. Upon closer investigation, I could see the fabulous work on everything from the bartop to the fireplace. There was a wide selection of beers on tap that were fairly priced; and if you wanted something else, it was easy to spot as the display behind the bar was attractively well arranged. It was around 7pm, so the evening crowd had yet to arrive. Of the people that were there, everyone was friendly, talkative, and seemed to be having a good time....we actually ran into our neighbor who used to live next door to us! The bartender was engaging, attentive, and fun....not to mention the fact that she did her hair up like Wednesday from the Adams family as it was Friday the 13th. Right before we were ready to leave for dinner, the owner dropped in and spoke with my husband for a while. I got to meet him and he seemed very pleasant. He shared with us his philosophy for the place and the atmosphere he was trying to set. So far it's looking good. I know we will be back again. Welcome to "The Manor" Ryan's! A lively, dark, loud place full of a bunch of heavy drinking dudes and a vivacious, loud, but friendly bartendress. Pours are honest and the prices are fair. I thought that the jukebox was turned up way too loud, however, and it's not a very relaxing place if you want to be mellow. read more
