    Mushroom Soup

We went on a lovely Sunday evening. The ambiance is stunning and it wasn't busy at all for our 7:30pm reservation. The menu is fresh and creative and the drinks were absolutely perfect. I would definitely recommend the Hibiscus and Melon Margaritas as well as the mushroom soup. The waiter was friendly and informative, the meal just felt slightly rushed but I believe that is because we had the last reservation before closing. Overall, would come back!

    1) ambiance was terrific! You go through a large nursery and then arrive in the restaurant. There are plants everywhere! 2) service was off the charts! It was my wife's birthday and they paid special attention to her. 3). Food---mmm! Excellent soup, superb salad, fine hummus, nice table bread. All greens & vegetables were very fresh. Entrees, my wife had lobster roll while I had seared scallops, both A+. 4) we finished off with crème brûlée with a birthday candle--my wife got her wish! With decaf espresso & decaf americano. 5) drinks were superb! A very fine place to dine.

Went to a wedding here 10 years ago now? But hadn't been back since. Which is a shame cause it's such a cool spot. I just never think of Glen Mills for anything. That was an awesome wedding too by the way. Great venue. So we were out at wegmens and that made us hungry. So we put in a reservation while we shopped. I was pretty tired so I got a latte. The proudly serve La Colombe. You can't go wrong there. It's really the best coffee around. We got the hummus platter for a starter. So good. Watermelon radishes, cucumbers, carrots. Mostly veggies and a few chips. I like when it's more veggies. I was for some reason really impressed with the cucumbers. They just tasted so fresh. They make you potted bread with maple salted butter. I didn't have any of the butter. I don't have a death wish. The bread was perfect though. Crispy in the edges fluffy on the midsection. My wife got the rolled lasagna and loved it. I didn't not try it. For my meal I got the lobster roll. Even though I was in New England all week having lobster on this and lobster in that. I'm not sick of it and this did not disappoint. It felt perfect. The sun peering through the skylight. I wore my sunglasses the entire time. It's a good place to take some time, slow down and appreciate your surroundings.

We had the loveliest experience at Terrain. Our server was so sweet and well informed about the menu, she walked us through everything. The menu itself was much bigger than I expected with some delicious options. I went with the scallops and everything on my plate was delicious and complimented each other. My mom said her salad was a little dry unfortunately. My brother enjoyed his short rib with carrots (hadn't seen him eat carrots in a while, they must have bee good!) We finished with the terrarium desert which was so fun and yummy. On top of that, I was surprised how affordable it was!

We loved the atmosphere. We were greeted and told all that all was available was the bar. We gladly sat! We enjoyed the Bloody Mary and the mushroom soup. Bread in a flower pot delicious! The bar was so busy that we felt service was slower than we hoped for. Food was great, manager was very accommodating and friendly! So much fun!!

Terrain Cafe boasts beautiful garden and greenhouse-style surroundings-- pleasant and photogenic. However, the wild mushroom frittata and beets with burrata were both bland, with everything lacking flavor and excitement. The bread in the terracotta pot was our fun, delicious highlight with a tasty whipped, brown butter. Great vibes, underwhelming plates.

I was with a group of 6 who wanted to try Terrain, so I wound up here after just having been less than two weeks ago. With a group of 6 we were given the option to dine in a Woodland Tent, which I highly recommend doing if you have the chance! This truly elevated our experience, giving us a private place to enjoy our meal. I also want to applaud the staff for serving us in the tent on a very windy and cold day. The weather did not seem to phase them and they were pleasant every time they came to us. I am reducing a star on my overall rating though because of the food at Terrain. While the menu is creative and uses local ingredients, which I love, the food is not why you come here. On this occasion I ordered the stuffed portobello mushroom special, and found my meal to be very bland and cold. It was also supposed to be served with arugula and instead it was served with two small pieces of lettuce. My friend found her pasta dish to be served with too much oil, causing her stomach to hurt afterwards. Lastly, another person in our group was given a burger that appeared raw when asked for medium-well. Our server was accommodating after this mistake, but it is concerning that this could even happen. Despite some of the food inconsistencies, I do love Terrain for the ambiance and would still see myself returning.

Delightful dinner! First time sitting near the bar--our table was very secluded and nestled between two plantings. We started off with some seasonal drinks and a charcuterie board which came with five different types of local cheeses and an assortment of usual and unusual accoutrements. The board easily feeds 2-3 as an appetizer or a meal for one very hungry person. The pot pie had flaky crust and ample filling while the crispy skinned salmon arrived perched atop a mound of lentils and charred broccolini. Our waiter and all the other staff were very efficient and friendly. Notes: gluten friendly!

I decided to treat myself to a solo date today and have been wanting to try this cafe so I stopped by. I ordered the lavender white mocha latte with almond milk which was delicious. The coffee they use was good quality and the flavor was perfectly balanced. They brought me bread in a small terracotta pot with lemon poppy seed butter which was so rich and flavorful. For my main, I had the shakshuka with homemade tomato sauce, sourdough bread, and crispy chickpeas which added a nice crunch to the dish. The atmosphere was beautiful and I really enjoyed all of the plants. The pricing was also very affordable. My server was sweet and you can tell everyone likes working here. I would definitely come back!

Terrain really is an amazing place. Beautiful greenhouses, a massive home wares shop that is beautifully curated, and a café with mostly delicious food. You really can't go wrong by coming here. This was my second time, so I have something to compare it to. We came as three adults and two babies with one highchair. We were quite the lunch crew. We ordered the seasonal French toast with pear to start, the chicken pot pie, and the burger. The French toast was absolutely fabulous. Maybe some of the best French toast I've ever had. The burger was a bit disappointing. Previously, they offered a discount to shop after you ate in the café. I was really excited for this, and I was planning on doing some serious damage. But apparently they no longer offer that discount.... Very sad. Like I mentioned, the store is gorgeously curated. But some things are unnecessarily expensive... Like the amaryllis bulbs dipped in wax. I'm pretty sure I bought three for $20 at Costco... One was $40. This is *obviously* not Costco, it's a different kind of craftsmanship, local suppliers, etc... But it does seem like a stretch. They do offer a lot of very pricey rare plants, like orchids and boxwoods. You get why you pay for! Their Christmas section is SO festive. Definitely stop in during the holidays!

Omgggggg the fries!!!!&! Delicious!!!!! Shakshuka was good too. Suchhhh a cute little place! Loved it! Until - we walked through the nursery and a lady was being let's just say mean.

Wow my friend just wanted to grab a coffee before Longwood so she googled this place and we were so grateful to have stumbled upon such a gem! We oredered to go iced blueberry pie chai lattes (with oat milk) that were heavenly. The restaurant is so cute - very open and green and inviting. The menu looks amazing. I definitely want to return for a meal. I love how it is attached to this amazing garden store with the cutest finds - from home goods to plants and pottery. Everyone was so kind, from the cashiers to the waitresses to people just helping within the store. They even have an event space which I didn't see but I am sure it is divine.

We have been going here for years and it is always a pleasant dining experience. The Brunch menu is literally fantastic. We wished we lived closer to return and try all the items in that menu. Very fun garden like - greenhouse dining atmosphere and the service is always impeccable. We recently had the burgers and they were excellent.

Ask the Community - Terrain Cafe - Glen Mills

Are the tents/woodland village seating option heated in any way?

Yes. In the colder months, they are heated by small wood-fired ovens and they hold the heat very well.

Can they accommodate large parties for rehearsal dinners?

Yes, they can host special events, incl weddings etc., check on their website under "private events".

Are there any good vegan options?

Yes, most of their "from the garden" section of the menu is Vegan.

Do they have a lunch menu? I only see dinner and brunch. If that's the case, do they have brunch on weekdays?

They had daily brunch from 10am to 3pm. It's clear shows on their website.

Is there brunch during the week?

Yes! Every day they serve brunch and then dinner later in the evening.

Is wine sold here or does that apply to the BYOB policy as well?

They do not sell wine...only teas, coffees, juices, and sodas. So BYOB!

I ordered it as a Turkey bowl salad with a gluten free scone and cofe au lait. Instead they made me a sandwich. They forgot the scone. When I finally got the salad it was great. The blueberry scone was okay. It was more cake like than biscuity and pretty light on the blueberries. The coffee was nice and hot. Because there's no waitress service I had to repeatedly get up from my seat to check on my order before and after they bungled it. If I'd wanted I could have stood there to wait but there's no place to SIT and wait and to see if your order is ready. In conclusion: the turkey bowl was good but it's just deli meat. The rest of the salad was what was really good. I I think people come here for the ambiance because $14.50 for a salad made with deli meat was not special. My friend ordered a cinnamon bun which she said was "okay." She prefers the grilled sticky buns at Hank's.

The vibe is light and airy, and the service is always friendly. I especially appreciate their rotating drink specials and options for non-coffee drinks, like a matcha. Also shoutout to the scones from OsoSweet bakery across Baltimore Pike--they go so well with a coffee and are huge and tasty. Chadds Ford Coffee House is what a chain like Starbucks aspires to be: local, cozy, and artisanal. Good music playing loud enough that you can hear it, but not so loud that you can't have a good conversation. There is wifi and a good amount of seating, including stools for solo diners who might want to open a laptop and send a few emails while eating the aforementioned giant scone. It's also easy to get takeout service, but I'd say it's worth spending a few minutes here to really savor your food and drink.

I love to switch it up and try new places, and this was no exception, and I did get to enjoy not only a good macchiato, but also a lovely, light and fluffy croissant. However, based on the vibe when I walked inside, I had expected a step above from what I actually experienced. This is NOT to say that anything is wrong with this place; it is cute, the staff is extremely nice, and their coffee is good, just good. But there is nothing here that takes it up a notch to make them anything memorable or more than just another coffee stop on the road of many potential head turning exquisite coffee paradises. I was very excited when I asked about the macchiato, as they said they make them the traditional "correct" way, which is what I prefer. A very small, very potent and delicious amount of espresso, and I usually enjoy mine con panna which they were happy to oblige. While the espresso was pulled well and the drink was delicious, it did taste as if their roaster went just a bit too far, or they extracted just a bit too much. Not a big deal. However, at a place making this correctly, I would expect a damn good macchiato. The croissant was also tasty; buttery and flaky, and I am not sure if it was baked on site, but I feel like if it wasn't, they should consider doing just that, because that is what could elevate this to that next level and really make it a destination! All in all I was pleased with what I got and the price was reasonable for what we ordered. If I am in the area I will likely be returning to my favorite spot nearby that I frequent with reverence, and that is no fault of Chadds Ford Coffee House. But when coffee is needed and I'm around, if I can't go to where I normally would, this would be at the top of my list! Give them a shot if you travel route 1 through the area often and you may find you're new spot!

There were several surprises about the place when we got there, but I can't speak enough about the space and the fact that it is built into a cozy what-seems-to-be old home of some sorts. The space is quaint and is a very nice place to go with a small group; the four of us having plenty of space and having a very at-home vibe while we were there. I am sure that others may not understand why this didn't hit my normal recommendation but I will try to shed some light on that below. Our server WAS attentive, but almost too attentive. I know this may sound strange. However, when one is enjoying a leisurely breakfast with friends, constant interruptions become something beyond just making sure the table is taken care of and enter the domain of simply not knowing the job or being able to read the customers. This was also not someone new to the industry, but a veteran. Totally okay! Everyone has their idiosyncrasies and maybe it wasn't a great day, who knows. All that aside, everything was just bland. There was nothing inherently wrong. It just wasn't good. In fact, it was so baseline and unimpressive that I will likely not return here. It may have been the wonderful aesthetic that made me feel like I'd be getting homestyle outstanding breakfast but the whole meal just missed the mark. As I have said many times in all of my reviews, including many breakfasts/brunches, I am a soup fanatic. I will order soup with ANY meal. The chicken tortilla soup here was one of the strangest I've ever encountered, and flat out not good.....and I hate to say that because all soup is inherently good on some level. But I could not call this chicken tortilla soup, except that there was a pile of tortilla strips on top. I will still recommend you check out Towne and Country because I continue to hear so many good things, and your experience may be very different than mine, and I love to support anything local that is going good business and supporting their community. But I don't believe we will be going back any time soon.
